I ordered a van in advanced on the website with the expectation that I would be able to check in on the app. However, upon my arrival I had to go inside and wait in line for over 30 minutes. I was then told I could finish the check in process on my phone, which allowed me to see that the vehicle that I was assigned had not been inspected. The pictures on the app showed a completely undamaged vehicle, but the van had a bumper that was hanging AND a flat tire (pictures attached). I had to go back in to swap vehicles, and the associate was unaware of the damage. She moved the vehicle to the back, but when I returned it was back in the front with the same damage. The associate also made me feel pressured to return the vehicle early, although I was paying for an additional day. This location was never my first or second choice and after this experience I would choose a different company if this is the only location available.
We rented a trailer for a horrible clean up of a rental property in Savannah. After getting into the work we realized we needed to keep the trailer for an additional 3 days. I tried calling the store multiple times only to be put on hold for over 10 minutes and having to hang up because I couldn’t wait on hold any longer. I got a voicemail from someone at the store 2 days later when they realized the trailer wasn’t back and even when I tried to call to respond to the voicemail and asked not to be put on hold they still put me on hold for 5 minutes. I know they have customers at the store but I can’t wait on hold for multiple days for over 10 minutes. We returned the trailer and an employee helped us unhook it and he rolled it behind the main building. About a week later I get a receipt for charges of $200+ when the rental was only $19 a day. We should have only been charged $100ish. I called and waited on hold AGAIN and was told they would have to look into it and would call me back. I never received a call, so I called the customer service line and filed a complaint. Guess what?!? Literally 5 minutes after hanging up with customer service the manager of the store calls me about my claim. He reads me the notes on my account and says they tried to contact me and got no answer and the trailer was returned on the 18th. I told him he would have to pull the surveillance tapes because the trailer was returned on the 11th. He was dismissive and said they would call me back if the tapes showed otherwise. When I went to ask if I would get a call either way he had already hung up. After reviewing the tapes he had an employee call me to tell me they would refund my money. I asked why the manager didn’t call and was told he just stepped out. The employee didn’t apologize and couldn’t tell me the final charges nor could he tell me how much the refund would be. Going to be hard to do business with them next time we need a trailer.
Had a complicated problem with trying to access lockers left by a relative who is incapacitated and will not be returning to Savannah. The management and staff were incredibly helpful. Going so far as to call upper management on their day off as I can get the proper steps and needed paperwork to access the units. Help, courteous and professional. They mad this complicated process bearable. Thanks to all of them!!!!
Awful experience!!! Waited an hour to get my u haul and they didnt have the 20 footer I booked. Ended up getting a 26 footer which was fine. Returned my u-haul early via the self drop off and got over $100 in credit card charges the next 2 days. No emails. No phone calls. Just charges. I went into the store and it ends up they never checked it back in. Moving is stressful as it is. Its a shame that renting a moving truck was the most stressful part of my move.
I wish I could give 0 stars because these people don’t even deserve 1. My fiance and I scheduled to have a trailer hitch installed 2 weeks ago. We get there today for the appointment and they say that the person who can install it isn’t there AND that they don’t even have the parts! We are supposed to be moving states in 4 days and this just threw a wrench in all of our plans. didn’t even offer a refund. DO NOT GO HERE!!!
Rented a 15 foot truck and was pleasantly surprised after reading the reviews here. Everything was handled professionally and quickly. I would use the service again
This was absolutely the worst thing I have ever seen. The cargo van smelled of body odor and the steering wheel felt like it had not been wiped down in years! I had to drive with the windows down which burnt my gasoline and at alarming rate. I was charged $79 for an advertisement stating 19.99!!!! I chose to use mobile check in; not available. I had to do the work of checking vehicle like I worked there!!! Cargo van had so much damage that I literally did a full photo shoot before I could leave; spent valuable time as a uhaul employee instead of customer.
Paid $479 for a trailer hitch and didnt even install the correct connector. I questioned it when I got my car back. I was told that was right. Well went to pick up my camper and ended up driving it with no break lights. Called to ask about getting the right one then was told to make an appointment which was in 5 days. Really I would have thought they would correct their mistake faster. The original person who I spoke with was no longer there.
Terrible. Just terrible. They changed my rental from a 10 foot truck to a 15 foot truck, then, when I went to pick up the truck, they didn’t even have it! I got an Uber here and now I have to spend another chunk on another Uber to a different location just to get an even bigger truck!!! I have nowhere to even park the enormous thing!
Set up a hitch install appointment over 2 weeks out, showed up for the install and they dont even have the hitch in stock and couldnt help me out. Avoid uhaul, this isnt the first time they messed up a hitch installation appointment for me, but it will be the last.
Just horrible, i used this Uhal store recently, drop off time was 5:30 I got their they checked the mileage on arrival. Went over in millage so I was giving the Opportunity to put gas in the truck so I did. Put my wallet in one of the slotts got their to give them back the truck and left. Notice I left my wallet and immediately turned around. Went inside the store to see if they found a wallet everyone said No!!! But we did find two phones I asked so no one seen a wallet?t it was in the same pocket as the phones, still the same answer. The guy who was in charged of expecting the truck claimed that he did check the truck but did not do a Thorough search. This U-Haul store have total incapable kids who lack the Knowledge of “Customer satisfaction” they have Thieves working for this brand and I will be contacting their corporate office and if that doesn’t work I will be taking legal actions.
This review is for UHAUL PERIOD do not and I repeat do not waste your money with them they have over charged me not once but twice and wont give me my money back. I tried to give them a second chance from the first time they over charged me but never again! They gave me an extra day and miles for the inconvenience then charged me for it.Now trying to justify the charges NO this is ridiculous. I was charged $780.00 all together when I was only suppose to pay $572.00.

Terrible customer service. Extremely slow, unfamiliar with the system they’re using. Rude, blatantly enforced covid protocols on some customers but not others. Very unprofessional, definitely use a different location.
Fast, friendly and no hidden fees. Chiquita was great! You could tell she knew her job well and her customer service skills were top-notch! She not only made it fast and easy for us, but for all the other customers too. If I was still a retail manager, I would hire her with a quickness. Thank you for the great experience! This companies staff is very customer focused. Natalie was so friendly you could feel it through the phone. She even helped me big time, constantly with a smile, when our drop off people didnt know what to do. Dont hesitate to use.

This is by far the worst storage place I’ve ever been to. The key cards NEVER work. Once someone buzzes you through the gate, good luck trying to reach someone to let you in the building where your unit is. Not to mention, there was no power to the building, we had to use our cellphone’s to see! When the “manager” does roll up on her bicycle, she can’t deal with the fact that you’re upset. Storming off while a customer is trying explain why they’re frustrated, may be a sign that this is not the right job for you. There are re too many storage places, to deal with this mess.

This was a great experience. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a trailer hitch for my 2008 Subaru Outback. I called U Haul of Savannah and they were kind enough to order the hitch for me. When the hitch arrived they notified me that it was in and we set a date for install. Upon arriving at the store for install I was amazed at how clean the facility was and how well they kept their inventory of moving materials and things of that nature. The Tech greeted me and we discussed the install. The install took just over one hour and the Tech did a fantastic job. He was very professional and asked me if he could help out with any other product that they sold.I thanked him for doing a great job and left the store a happy customer. If I need anything at all from U Haul Savannah I will return.Best RegardsC E Underwood

I rented a 15 truck. It was very clean and I was impressed with how hard/quickly the staff was working on a busy Saturday.
I got a hitch installed here—they were fast, professional, and friendly. I used my hitch to pull a trailer later that week out of state, and ran into issues with the trailer itself—I wasn’t sure what to do so I called Charles and the team, and they walked me through my issue, helped me trouble shoot, and ultimately helped me fix my problem! They are the best.

They had the hitch installed fairly quickly. They werent able to get to it immediately at my appt time, but not too bad on total time. The waiting room is not a place I would want to be, its not nice. However, I was able to walk around and do some shopping nearby.
While the person was nice on the phone. The fact is that I called for getting a light kit installed on my auto last week and was told they were out of stock, I rearraged my plans for the following the week as to allow time to get the item in however, when I called to follow up after not receiving the phone call earlier in the week as I was promised, I found that they had no record of my appointment nor did they have any item in stock for my auto. So, again, Im stuck rearranging my plans on a spur of the moment now. This is totally unreliable.
We went to pick up a trailer ahead of hurricane Irma. Staff is amazing and so nice, even under all of the stress. We got in and out quickly. Will definitely rent from them again if we need to.
The manager and staff were awesome!We took a trailer from Jacksonville to Savannah and thought we had arranged to drop it off in Savannah BUT our contract said we were supposed to drop it back in Jacksonville.The manager was so helpful and rearranged it so we could drop off the trailer, we are so thankful!And additionally, this Uhaul place is very well stocked and organized, we will be back!

Drove 146 miles round trip on a confirmed appnt. to get a trailer hitch install only to be sent away after waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes. Better not bill that credit card I used to get this supposed appnt. folks! However, I was told they were sorry and to have a blessed day....repeatedly? Sometimes you just have to remain calm, accept the idiosy and just drive back from whence you came.
I work with a non profit in the city and asked about benefits as we use the trucks for all of our larger events. I felt the manager was rude, did not care to assist and just referred me to contact corporate. Also after receiving my emailed receipt I was charged for fuel when I filled the truck back to the place it was or more before returning. This seems to be a regular practice of uhaul. As I had the same issues at other locations being charged for attention day, addition mileage as well as fuel that is not due to you.

So ducking slow. I spent more than 30 mins waiting in line twice. It also looks like most of the workers behind the counter are not even working. The worst....
So incompetent. I spent 4 hours here waiting on a hitch install that they said would take 1.5 hrs max. I made an appointment over a week in advance. They dont appear to know what theyre doing. Also, dont approach from White Bluff as Google Maps wants to take you. Only enter from Abercorn.
Manager is unprofessional and rude. Rented out a mechanically unfit truck. Returned for another truck with extension. Got an angry completely unprofessional call from recovery the sour middle aged female manager at 7:30am. Needless to say returned truck directly and was charged after she said there would be no charge. Amber was friendly and went over and beyond in customer service stayed late to get me back in a fit truck.
My experience was great. Staff was presentable, knowledgable, explained everything to me properly and patiently. The equipment was also nice. Will definitely recommend this place.

Their system was down when I booked the truck so everything took longer than it was supposed to, the starter motor on our truck worked only half the time and they charged us extra for using equipment because we broke the plastic seal (they store optional equipment in the truck whether you want it or not and charge you for it if you break the plastic zip tie holding it to the truck). We didnt and if it wasnt for the fact that its only a $7 additional charge I would sue for fraudulent business practices. I showed them even the other seal was damaged and we didnt even touch it. And every time I call them its a ten to 15 minute wait.
‼️‼️ Please DO NOT ever use uhaul!!Unless you like for your account to be charged serveral times and for 4 times the amount you were supposed to be charged!After SEVERAL phones calls back and forth we were finally told we would be getting a $58.00 refund. Not great, but it was better than nothing and I definitely wasn’t complaining. I check my bank this morning and not only have the refund not gone through but they have charged us even more on top of everything. I have never been so furious with a company in my entire life.Thank you uhaul for wrongfully overdrafting my account right before Christmas
Called the day of to reserve a cargo van for a business trip and was in it and heading out within an hour. The rates were way cheaper than the company I have been using and I was surprised by how fuel efficient the vehicle was. The place was definitely understaffed, but the guy who was there was friendly and efficient even though he seemed a bit overwhelmed. Will use again.

Word of advice, BEWARE, they know their trucks trucks have damaged bodies and will charge you as if you did it. They note damage when truck is returned but never repair it. Don’t trust these people at all! Stay away if at all possible.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with my experience with the Uhaul on Abercorn St. in Savannah, GA. I went to this location on March 6, 2018 to rent a pickup truck for a few hours in order to move a couch from my apartment. When I went in, I approached the desk and spoke with a male associate. His demeanor was noticeably uninterested right off the bat. I told him I was looking to rent a pickup truck for the afternoon and he told me one was available. First of all, he barely said 10 words to me the whole time I was there. He handed a set of keys to a coworker and she pulled the truck to the entrance of their parking lot all while I was still in the store with the original employee. He quickly stated what the per mileage price was and I told him I would only drive 25 miles at most. He told me that the estimate for the total price was $38.20 and that that amount would be placed on “hold” in my account until I turned in the vehicle and received the final price. I was also told that if I did not return the vehicle before 7pm I could return the truck after hours with the app. Fast forward to that evening; I came back to return the truck at 6:45pm that same day. I pulled up and saw the employee that I had reserved the truck with. He then told me to just put the keys and the contract into the key drop and they would check it in in the morning. I left thinking nothing of it. On the 8th, two days later, I received an updated contract charging me $422.02 claiming that I had caused damage to the door of the bed of the truck. At this point, I immediately tried contacting Uhaul. It was after hours so I was unable to speak to the store, but I called a Customer Service rep at their 1-800 number. She confirmed the charge and began asking me questions because I was positive that I had not caused any damage to the truck. That was when she informed me that the so-called “damage” was a 3 inch scratch through the rear decal and the $400 charge was to replace the entire decal. As ridiculous as this was, I still had not caused this damage. She took notes to send to the GM at the store so they could call me. Through this phone call, I found out that this employee should have done a walk around with me before I left with the vehicle and he should have checked in the vehicle that night since they were not closed. The next week I was called by the GM at the Abercorn store and she apologized to me for the employee’s behavior and explained that they had removed the $422.02 charge. At this point, I was glad that things were resolved and done with (or so I thought). On March 12, I had to call Uhaul back because I had been charged twice for the rental charge — once for $37.64 and once for $38.20. They refunded the $38.20. Then, almost a month after the rental, on March 22nd I was charged the $422.02 that I was assured was removed. I was furious at this point because I thought this was all over with. I called Uhaul again and asked them what the issue was and voiced my anger about being charged. This charge caused my bank account to go into the negative and I was left with no money while out of town. It then took multiple days to have the refund come back to my account. Needless to say, I will NEVER use this Uhaul location again and will seriously consider possibly never using Uhaul again after this experience.

They do not stand behind their work. They told me that if I didnt pay an extra $5 for a warranty that they would not warranty their own work of installing a custom hitch. I paid $180 for the hitch and $75 for the installation.

People should be made aware of the fact a confirmation number does not confirm that you will have a truck when/where youve asked for it. According to U-Haul a confirmation number means theyre confirming youve asked for a truck and you may or may not get it.
These are some very rude and disresptful, non-customer service having a** people. If you do decide to go there dont speak with, the so called manager Russell and his little Minion Michelle. They are rude AF and obviously dont need there jobs!!! What you need to know is I dont deal with the small timers honey, I go over HEADS!!! Trust me when I tell you, You barked up the wrong tree!!!!!!!!
