We received a few recommendations to come here on our trip to Savannah and we’re so glad that we did! We couldn’t believe the size of the crab cakes eggs Benedict when they came out. Amazing portion sizes at a great price! The Nutella banana crepes also hit the spot. I would definitely come here again!
We were pretty excited to have breakfast at this place, they were sort of busy when we came in but not super busy, then most people were leaving at the same time, perhaps they are understaffed but our service was not bueno at all…. after ordering took over an hour and a half to get our food and it didn’t came all together, first one dish then a few minutes later other and 45 min after we got our first dish came the last one, 2:15 hrs to get some fried bacon? Really? When we got our food restaurant was half empty. I don’t understand why took so long, unfortunately quality was bad, cold waffle, cold bacon, and even cold scramble eggs. Ok don’t know if they just had them ready for ages and no one pick them up to bring to our table. It was a disappointment after being tase by the cool photos on google from the place.Hope for the future of the restaurant that they improve their service and food quality.Maybe we were here on a bad day, but for the time we have to wait and the price we have to pay our experience was far from good.
This little gem was fantastic! Our server was great and friendly. The portions are extremely generous and the service was quick. My crab cake eggs benedict was the biggest eggs benedict Ive ever seen!!The grits are thankfully served unseasoned so you can salt and pepper to your own taste (we of course added cheese to ours because cheese!)
Wow, most disappointing place in Savannah. Heard lots of good things, then 3 hours of horrendousness. We got to the new location and it was packed. We were referred to the lower River Street with more seating, less wait. We got here and was told 30-45 mins then proceeded to wait an hour and Half because they only 2 servers and told no one. We got seated, got lukewarm food and not one single time did we get a checkup by anyone working there. The highlight? When the owner or manager acknowledged a shirt I was wearing! Hows that? Straighten your staff up. You wont be open long. Im sure your wait staff I nice and kind, but ignoring the customers the moment after taking the order is NOT good customer service. Never returning!! Not even the upstairs band could change my mind.
A quaint little gem on River Street.I was the first patron when I arrived around 8ish on a Tuesday.I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict. The biscuit was huge and delicious. I couldnt finish it all.The waitress was super friendly.By the time I left, it was crowded.Oh, and this location is cash only, but they did have an ATM on site.
LOVED IT. The building is old brick and looks dark from the outside which I love. We walked in and were seated immediately. This is a cash only business which is unusual but cool. The waitress was very nice as well. Within a few minutes of sitting at the table, the head chef came to introduce himself and talk to us about the specials of the day. He was extremely personable! When we received our food, no one warned us about the full pan sized biscuits (for one person)! They were absolutely delicious however as was everything else we ordered. Prices were very reasonable especially considering the quality and quantity of the food! We will 100% be back to this location on our return to Savannah in the future.
I think you should try this one for yourself as I am on the fence of giving it a four. Biscuit is HUGE and flavorful, actually a meal in itself just no room on the plate to open it. The homemade berry jam is good with raspberry being the predominant flavor. Grits needed salt but were nice stoned ground. The bacon is a required taste, not to my liking but was cooked well. Sausage patty was similar to a big box style. Gravy was a disappointment...$6 for a side of half filled tiny side skillet, I would say a little more than half a cup and had too much going on for me to be called sausage gravy, was gray in color, needed pepper. Overall it is good hangover food, staff was great!
Most of our meals were cold when put on the table, and missing items we ordered. A couple orders were not what we ordered at all.I got the Crab cake eggs Benedict, with over easy eggs. They came out with burnt scrambled eggs and cheese sauce poured over the top. I tried to eat it, but couldnt finish it (Im not a picky eater). When this was brought to the attention of the servers they initially refused to compensate for the uneaten meals, and I was charged for crab cakes. Come to find out, the waitresses have to pay FROM THEIR OWN POCKETS for this. I wasnt going to pay for things that never showed up at the table, but a waitress that didnt even serve us had to pay for our discounted parts of our meals. Terrible business and no accountability on the cooks or owner.I usually dont take the time to write poor reviews, but this was hands down one of my worst dining experiences ever. And on my birthday too.If it was just the food that was bad, that would be whatever. But making waitresses pay for mistakes from the kitchen out of their pocket is disgusting.
1st time visiting this establishment. Food was amazing, and the decor was really nice! Great overall experience!
Here goes the food was really good except for the grits which were plain and tasteless but the biscuits were the size of my head and they were amazing. Coffee was great. They do not accept credit cards only cash, no problem for us. I will say it felt kind of dark and dirty, there was so much stuff on the table it was uncomfortable to eat at it. If your looking for a decent breakfast and have cash or a ATM card (ATM inside) this is your place.
We had breakfast this morning and Gigi waited on us at the bar! She was awesome, excellent service. Like everywhere they are short staffed but that didn’t impact our experience. The food was amazing and recommendations on point. We met the owner Chris and Ike his son. Definitely will go back!!!
We went two days in a row here. Now if you have payed attention to my reviews breakfast type establishments are something near and dear to me. This place could be killing it! Its not. To not take cards in this day and age is ridiculous! Unless your trying to launder money, screw your employees or some other illicit foolishness. The food the first day was great especially the bacon. The second day, not so much. It was sub par. This is why I give it 3 stars. If you could maintain quality then 4. But no.
Overall this was a fine experience. I wish I had looked at the menu online first to know that its cash only and the ATM is a $4 charge. I wasnt very hungry, so I kept my order small. I got a side order of sausage and grits. The sausage was two patties that tasted good. The grits were served in a cute little cast iron pan. I added some salt and butter to those and they were good until I got close to the bottom of the pan and then I tasted iron. It was still a cute way to serve. My child ordered oatmeal that he enjoyed and my mils breakfast sandwich came on a BIG biscuit. I believe we were the third group in the restaurant that morning and it felt like everything took quite awhile. Im also not a fan of the Jesus radio station, but that is easy enough to ignore.
5 stars for service and 5 stars for food. We went for a mini 4 day vacation and were here twice. Isaac has an amazing personality and provided excellent service!! This is a MUST stop during your stay!
Put our names in and was told to come back in 30 min. Came back in 25 and girl gave our table to someone else. Blamed it on someone else. She went and spoke to her manager who said to seat us upstairs. Only two tables upstairs were seated. After waiting 20 minutes and no waiter we started talking to the others seated there. One family said they had been there 40 min and had not been waited on. Other person said it took well over an hour to get her food once she got waited on. We got up and left.
We stopped in to try the bacon clothesline. It may seem odd to pay $14 for three slices of bacon when you can get a side of bacon (also three slices) for $5, but Im telling you, its worth it. This bacon is THICK. Theyre like little bacon steaks! And the jam makes it even better... Totally worth the extra cost.Very friendly staff and a really cool location. The breakfast sangria is also very good. Well definitely be back!
Despite half the restaurant being empty, we waited 30 minutes for a table after being told the wait was 10 minutes. Then we waited an additional 15 minutes before a server even asked if we wanted a drink. When the food eventually did come out, the portion size was laughably small, and I had to go to another table to find the jam I needed for the biscuit which was as dry as the Sahara. The best part about the whole experience is that the restaurant does not accept cards as payment, but they conveniently have an ATM where they charge you $4 to get cash out. I get that its hard for a local business to make money, but scamming your customers is a new low that I hadnt seen until I ate food at this restaurant. In 2021, the only reason you dont accept cards but you have an ATM is because its a scam. Thats it. I truly hope that this restaurant goes under, but its not likely with the constant influx of new suckers unfamiliar with the area.
Got there at 10:30 and asked for the wait. Was told 45 minutes so we got ourselves on the books. An hour and 15 minutes later asked how much longer. Was told at least another 30 minutes. Unfortunately my group had plans so we could not wait any longer and simply went without eating.Staff was nice and cordial. Wished we could have tried the food.
Disappointing to say the least. Waited 20 min after we were sat for service while waitresses fought over us not being their table right next to us. After finally ordering waited another 40 min for food that was just egg, sausage, cheese. Never checked on. Food mediocre. Definitely better places to eat in Savannah.
After so many positive reviews, we went for brunch. What a mistake.. I understand being understaffed but this place is an absolute disaster. I have worked at many busy brunch places in different cities but come on guys.. Our server told us twice he would be with us and about 15-20 mins, he finally stopped by but still didnt bring water at the least.. food took another 40 mins to arrive at the table and it was barely above room temperature, not good and we never saw our server again. Chicken was room temp and waffle was cold and the crab cake Benedict was just bad. I scrapped the hollandaise off and ate just the eggs and crab cake but left the absurd biscuit. Our server didnt even drop the food off, never stopped to check on us once. And after waiting for another 20 mins for the bill, we calculated the amount we thought it would be and went to leave.. as we were standing up, he showed up. Wouldnt go back to this place if they were the sole place open. Arrived at 10, left at 11:50. For a brunch. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
Got there the nice lady told us 30. Then after 30 minutes another 20, then after the 20 we still had to wait around for another 20 just to be seated. The employees were working slow. It was the busser first day and it didnt seem like she knew what was going on. It didnt seem like they gave her proper training. Instead of having everything run smoothly the owner chats with a table seating 10 people, instead of managing the place. He also was petting one of there dogs and i dont know if he is handling food or even washed his hands. But you should take those precautions when your running a restaurant . We left cause it was simply taking too much time and we wasted or morning trying to get breakfast there for bad service. I have zero experience and i can make that place run more smoothly.
This place is an absolute gold mine! Charlotte and Gigg, as well as the rest of their wait staff, were incredible. We were having a tough time in Savannah finding somewhere we really loved, and this was it! We did wait about 45 minutes so put that into your planning, but it is worth every second of the wait! Great food, great staff, and adorable inside! ❤️Emily and Katie from Boston
Great place! Loved getting to meet and talk to the owner’s sister. She did a great job waiting our table and was super helpful and patient with our food decisions. :) Awesome food. Just go. Now!
The food is excellent but the wait oh my goodness 😳 we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes, after we were told 40 minutes. If your going in a group divide yourself in 2 groups! By the way you have to pay with cash! ATM is in the restaurant. Than we had to wait another 20 minutes to get our order 40 to be served our food 20 to pay. Lets say we got there like 10:00 am and left at 1:15 pm. If it werent for the food, omg. Only 4 waitress. Its a little hard to rate this one. Sorry
Great food, the biscuits cant be beat. Some of the best restaurant coffee weve had. Why not 5 stars? Service. They need more help. When we walked in, 2 empty tables were in front of us, told a 20 minute wait. Came back 20 minutes later and was sat at one of the empty tables. Our waitress was all over trying to serve, ring out customers, etc. One order came out incorrect, but we still ate it because we didnt want to wait to have it remade. Fix the service issue and this is a 5 star review.
Best breakfast I’ve ever had..hand cut bacon and freshly squeezed orange juice. Gluten free options available. Super friendly staff and awesome vibe. All together a wonderful experience!
Food was really good, not sure if its worth the money though. Little pricey.
The biscuits are giant and dense and fluffy all at the same time. The bacon is thick and you can get it crispy or chewy. They don’t poach eggs but you can get them fried or scrambled any way you like. The grits are super creamy and delicious. The service is always fast and friendly.
The best thing about this place was the food. We really enjoyed what we ordered but the service was horrible. Arrived closer to lunch time and we were told there would be a 20 minute wait. So, not s big deal. That 20 minute wait extended to over 60 and they seated people who arrived after we did. It wasnt until we had to show our frustration did they seat us. Crab cakes were delicious and not full of filler. My wifes order wasnt correct but being hungry and beyond frustrated with the staff, we just dealt with it. I doubt we will return on any future trips to savannah but I cannot say enough good things about the food. Maybe takeout would have been a better option...
Cute little restaurant with delicious food! Best breakfast we had during our stay in Savannah! Just be prepared for nice size platters!
We tried to visit this location. We were told by the host that wed have a 30 minute wait. After this period of time was up, we were informed thatd itd be another 20 minutes. We went through this cycle 4 times before we gave up and went somewhere else.Last year at the other location on Bay Street we had a very pleasant experience.
Small and busy eatery on River Street. The staff was very friendly and food is delicious. Next I would like to try the Clothesline Bacon. I was amazed about the preparation it takes to prepare that item on their menu. It actually looks like Bacon on a Clothesline.
Food was good a little pricey though for breakfast food. Service was good.
If I could leave this place 0 stars I would! They gave me such bad service I cant even see how theyre still open. First off it was a 2 hour wait and they were not even busy!Chris the owner refused to seat me at the bar area even though there were no people waiting there. All I wanted was an order of waffles. I will not be back!
I hope youre a gambler if youre coming to eat here. Based on reviews its either a 1 star or a 5 star experience. We got the one star. Just like like everyone else, told 35 minutes, waited over an hour. I spent years being a server, so why 4 servers couldnt manage 4 3 tops and 2 2 tops is beyond me. Food sat in the window for 15 minutes at a time. (After watching so much food sit there, I timed it.) Food was OK, not worth what they charge, drinks stayed empty and our order was messed up. Which, so was the table across from us. If you dont want to chance waiting an hour for a poor experience, find somewhere else to eat.
Absolutely excellent food and breakfast. We were able to be served in a timely manner despite reading otherwise in reviews. 4 stars for atmosphere. Biscuits as big as your head.
Fantastic food and service!! Highly recommend!!
Great waiters and servers, live music was excellent, the food was delicious. Recommend for anyone stopping by downtown Savannah, be sure to book to save your seat!
Food was good, it is cash only. Expensive, cost us over $60 for the 3 of us, and we didn’t order expensive items.
Cash only. The food was delicious, staff very friendly.
Crab cake Benedict was excellent and on a huge homemade biscuit. My boyfriend said his bloody mary was awesome. This was a filling breakfast at a reasonable price for the quality.
They have the best biscuit Ive ever had. Bacon was great too and the potatoes yummy. And the owner is awsome. I just love him
I absolutely love to crack eggs. The service is great, the people are friendly, kind, courteous, and attentive keep. I love the atmosphere. And it is in a great part of town. The view of Bay Street is wonderful. I recommend this place to anyone in town or out of town.
Always a solid experience whenever I visit either one of this companys locations. Great breakfast and definitely unique in its own ways. Definitely a must for anyone eating breakfast on vacation
Overworked employees, screaming children and food was not great. First and last visit while in Savannah. Had to wait a long time in our meal, even with only 4 tables occupied due to staffing shortages. We were extremely patient knowing this but was disappointed in the quality of the food. Coffee was great.
I felt really really bad for the waitresses, You could tell they were low staffed just walking into the door. One server was a one girl show trying to bus tables, be a hostess and take orders at the same time. We sat down, the server took our orders then we never saw her again. I saw the food just sitting at the kitchen window because the servers were too busy doing other things. It seemed the “bus” guy was new so tables weren’t being bussed fast enough to be available for new customers. At one point I saw a server put menus down on the tables and asked customers to seat themselves.Whoever manages this restaurant should know better than to run on a limited staff. You end up with frustrated servers and unhappy guests..I felt bad for the new customers coming in a sitting down because they had no idea that they were going to experience what we did. Since our server went missing we just left cash on the table and walked out.
Good food, and really nice staff. The owner is cool too. Hes definitely a talker, but youll learn a lot of fun facts about him and his restaurants!
My family and I had breakfast here, the second day it was open, the service was wonderful and the food, wow the food was amazing. It was hot, fresh and my mouth is going to crave it in the coming days. The Clothesline Bacon is as good as it sounds, thick cuts, melts in the mouth, leaves you wanting more. The service was spectacular, kept my water filled, which is hard to do in most restaurants. Definitely coming back and highly recommend it.
Off the beaten path but well worth the find. Bring your appetite large portions of delicious homemade food. Cash only so come prepared. Definitely will return on my next trip.
Little pricey. The staff was awesome!!
What an amazing restaurant, the food was amazing. Management and the staff are very friendly and polite. I will definitely make sure to visit here everything I make my way down to river street.
Yup ... a gem. Wonderful and friendly service and a biscuit as big as my head ... well that’s a little exaggerated ! They are big biscuits nonetheless. My head ... well ... divine intervention will keep that in check. If you are on River street in Savannah you gotta hit this place for breakfast or lunch.Casual dining of course. The original is still on Bay Street. Both places will feed you more than my stomach can hold. Great for the fur babies at home.
Understaffed and it showed. Staff was nice, but just not enough of them to do everything efficiently. Good was good, but cold when we got it. Okay for the price. Probably worth it if fully staffed
45min wait for a table during breakfsst service. Not good.
*RUN FAST* Checked in at 1030, was told 40 minute wait, didnt get seated until after 12, and left around 2pm. The service was terrible. We basically got abandoned because our server had to hop in the kitchen. The orders were coming out all wrong and no server in site to fix the issue until after the rest of the table was basically done eating. We ended up having to catch a different employee to get the food corrected and then still it came out incorrectly. One person didnt get their correct order until after everyone else was done eating. $58 bill for two people. Save your time and go to B. Matthews down the road. 100x better food, service, and prices.
Excellent food.If you do not eat too muchYou can share becuse they serve big portions.
Very nice place for breakfast. Biscuits were huge!
Ahhhhmazing .. this place is a tradition for us. The owner speaks to us every time and the food is amazing. Best corn beef and hash ever.
This place is a must if you visit Savanaah!!! The owner and his son came out, we managed to catch the place before the rush had began. If there was a way to rate this place a ten, the food, the atmosphere and delightful architecture were a reason why!
Wonderful, Delicious home cooked meal Served by courteous waitresses in clean friendly environment. Walked right in. I will definitely return. If you go it will be worth it.
The food was excellent and the service even more so! We will be going back!
Excellent breakfast and super friendly staff.
I work here and we are determined to make your visit amazing and pleasant....
Georgia peach french toast is a must! Simply the best breakfast! Make sure you get the breakfast Sangria
We came 20 minutes after opening and the waiter seemed frazzled and shocked we were there even though we were the first patrons. The space is VERY hazy due to poor ventilation from the kitchen so my eyes were burning for most of the time. The wait staff overall were nice, but just seemed very stressed and one of the waiters yelled at the cook to shut his mouth and most of the restaurant could hear. They played loud religious music the whole time which was fine but certainly not my taste. We had to ask for our grits because we had been sitting with half of our meal for over 5 minutes waiting for the rest. The food was good, but very overpriced for what it is. I can see how people who want a southern meal would go here. Overall, I would definitely not recommend this place and would suggest the owner do something about how chaotic everything is
I loved the atmosphere. The live band upstairs and the service staff was professional & courteous...HOWEVER, the wait time was unacceptable (2 hours from sitting to get food). We had to rush eating because we had a schedule boat ride at 2pm. We thought getting on the wait list at 1045am should have been ample time but it wasnt. We were told 30 mins first & once 30 mins passed, we were told an additional 25 mins. We didnt get a chance to explore River Street after eating because we have to rush off to the boat.
Great breakfast, beautiful location, blues band upstairs 9am on Sat & Sun...
The atmosphere was great service was excellent and the food was amazing. We really enjoyed everything.
We waited in line for an hour after being told it was going to be about 30 minutes. Which isnt terrible, but just a little bit of notice would have been nice. Before we could sit down, thankfully another person told everyone else in line that apparently it was cash only, which wasnt listed anywhere online, posted in the window of the restaurant, or told to us by the hostess. Gigantic waste of time.
My husband and I were told it would be a 30-40 min wait which we had no problem with. We walked around the river for 15-20 minutes then came back. After another 40 minutes of waiting, we were seated outside (my call- the wrong call in hindsight) and our drink orders were taken. Nice conversation with the hostess who took our drink order. Then the waitress came and we were having a nice conversation with her when she said she be back in a minute, there was some money on her table. After 20 minutes in waiting for her to return, my husband went to the hostess and asked if she forgot about us. She returned, apologized because she got stuck on the register and they were short handed. We understood that, said it was ok, placed our order and asked for some more coffee as our cups were running low. Our food finally came out, both of our meals were warm as Im sure they had been sitting there awhile and we had to ask for the butter and syrup for my husbands french toast as well as ask again for more coffee. Because we were outside, the people who were standing near us at different times of our experience, we warned them to not be seated outside as you will be forgotten. When our meal was done my husband and I didnt want to wait to see if anyone would bring us our check as nobody ever checked on us so he went to get the check to pay. He waited after an angry customer in front of him complained about the bad service to ask for the check and to calmly explain about the lackluster service we had. She immediately caught an attitude with him and ended their conversation by saying she would cover our bill because she doesnt want the hassle. We werent asking for that, just trying to tell them, but honest about the wait time (we were told 30-40 and it was an hour) and to not offer to seat people outside as theyre short staffed and nobody was watching our for us. Ive seen good reviews and bad reviews on this place so I dont think it was a bad day. I hope others can have a good experience, but I wont ever recommend this place to anyone nor try a return visit to see if its improved.
The food here was very underwhelming, especially at the prices they charge. My girlfriends veggie wrap was 90% lettuce, and my crab cake Benedict was very bland. There are too many other places in Savannah to try for this place to be worth a second trip.
The staff was pleasant and our food was good. Unfortunately, the exhaust system isnt efficient for the space so there was a fair amount of smoke smell and smoke in the air which made our eyes burn terribly. We also felt that their pricing was somewhat high specifically for any add- ones. ( added cheese to our eggs...2$ ea and a side of gravy which was approx 1/2 cup worth was $6.
