Limited street parking available nearby. They do not take any reservation, as the idea is more quick breakfast/brunch so the tables are turned over pretty fast. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. You place your order in the front and then find a table and the food is brought out to you.Mimosa: on point. Strong enough to give you a slight buzz but not do anything stupid too early in the morning.Veggie quiche: well seasoned and delicious. Was still warm when it was brought out.Gourmet board: nice assortment of items to pair with the baguette.Fresh fruit parfait: it’s Greek yogurt, so expect it to be a bit more sour. But paired well with everything else we ordered.Overall would recommend! Very cute brunch spot. Definitely gave me the feeling of being in France.
Amazing breakfast sandwich! Had the one on French croissant and Brie cheese. You wouldnt think that it would be that great with scrambled Eggs, but it comes out juicy and flavoury, thanks to the cheese, what looks like parsley or coriander and the perfect cooking time. Cappuccino is what you see in the background. Also good. Would definitely recommend. Pro tip: come at the opening. Fills up fast on a Sunday morning.
This is a must dine restaurant for brunch! We had breakfast sandwiches, pastries, Mimosas, and coffee. Everything was spectacular and the restaurant was more than accommodating for those in our group with a food allergy. If you are looking to go with a group, these seating is limited inside and outside, so go with a small group or take to go!
Awesome little place! It has very unique charm and feel. The food takes a bit to come out, but I’ll tell you it’s worth the wait! I make sure I go there every single time I am in town.
This place is phenomenal. I came here to get some work done in a new environment and it worked, I was able to focus and get so much done. I would recommend this cafe for anyone who needs to get something done. I got the hot chocolate with oat milk and it was delicious, for such a simple drink they know how to make it taste special. I also got the butter croissant which was light and fluffy and very crispy. After ordering I found a table close to the window and got my set up ready, they brought me my drink and didn’t seem to mind that I was sitting down for a few hours. Once I finished my work I got another order of hot chocolate for myself and one to bring to my roommate. She loved it and I loved supporting this cute cafe!! I will be back soon and will try the mango peach tea!Thank you to the staff for making this such a memorable and pleasant experience!!
We went here over Halloween weekend and there was a bit a of wait, but with the holiday/covid/staff shortages/long waits all over town, we understood. Some people were cranky about this, but I felt the great customer service, cozy atmosphere, and quality of the food was worth the wait! Plus the owner and rest of the staff came out multiple times to check on us during our wait. I highly recommend going here! We ordered Irish coffees and breakfast sandwiches :)
Cafe M is a wonderful little oasis of French breads and patisserie right in the heart of Savannahs river district. The bistro seating outside is a wonderful way to start your day enjoying some of the best coffee and espresso drinks around. We tried the breakfast sandwich and the quiche lorraine and both were heavenly. We went back in to take some extra baked goods home since its rare to find baguettes and croissants this good. Cafe M is a gem, dont miss it!
Facing to East Bay Street and downtown, back to the riverfront, the River Street Access had a bridge to the restaurant, which was actually a small cafe (probably as its name indicating, just M, not L nor S :). Typical coffee and croissant choices, with breeze from the river, to enjoy a peaceful morning covered by trees blocking the noise from the street. Far sight, above the tree, it was the gold dome of the city hall, with the US flag flying in the air of freedom. Just dont look down, and ignore the dirt and homeless tents under the bridge. Later, tourists were about to take steps thru some garbage trucks walking to the riverfront sideway, leaving a poverty belt behind.
Visited this morning really hoping wed be able to enjoy a nice brunch, but after standing in line for 20 minutes, we were told the kitchen would be closing for a period of time so they could catch up on orders and figure out their inventory. Others had been waiting for food for over 30 minutes at that point so maybe we lucked out. We left with only chocolate croissants, which were good, but overpriced considering the lackluster experience.
Terrible! We ordered three sandwiches that all came out burnt. We sent them back and we received new ones. Then, the new one had a hair. We asked for a refund of just the sandwiches not the drinks. The owner refused to refund all three sandwiches because only one had the hair. She said we should keep the rest if we hadn’t found a hair. There was no way we were going to keep eating the sandwiches.UPDATE: We were given the sandwich refunds before we left the restaurant.
Friendly staff, great coffee and cocktails, and locks are sold here for the bridge outside. It can be tricky to find if you are along the riverfront as it is located on an upper level facing the street on the other side of the river, but its worth finding. There are cocktail specials that run and the coffee is great! Its a nice spot to start your day exploring with!
Very impressed with the breakfast, lunch, and bakery options available here to include French baguette, strudels, and other sweet tasty treats. The service is great although it gets busy and lines get long. Plenty of outdoor seating to accommodate most small groups on the small bistro sized tables with 2-3 chairs per table. The breakfast croissant was the best meal I had and the apple cinnamon tart was superb in both flavor and textures. And the coffee options are fantastic featuring both hot and cold options. The best French styled cafe in Savannah! 5 Stars
Lovely French cafe right between Bay and River Street. Seating is elevated above Factors Walk which allows for some very fun people watching. Busy on Sunday but even so it easy to find an outside table. I ordered an almond latte, a donut, and the Normandy sandwich on a half baguette. Sandwich was delicious and filling (didnt have enough room for the donut after haha). Anyway, if youre here visiting Savannah and find yourself near the river try and check this place out. You wont be disappointed.
Great Service. Love the boards! The Brie Board is my favorite of them. Ordered from Grub Hub first and the delivery driver actually delivered my food to the wrong house. Once finally retrieved (private eye style in a bath robe) the food was amazing! SO GOOD. Finally visited the restaurant in person today and had the healthy brunch with salmon and it was delicious. The staff made sure I had everything I needed and kept everything running smoothly. Halle, Ginger, and Cristine was so helpful with food and things to do recommendations for the areas. Love the Traditions of Savannah. You should make this part of your familys traditions.
A great place to grab a cup of coffee. Loved the atmosphere.
I like this quaint little spot. The food is good and the servers are attentive. Its a nice spot if you want something quick but atypical.
Slow Open, Low HospitalityMy review is not about the wobbly table we sat at while we waited (which had a “cheerful” apology for not being able to fix the table posted on it.) We arrived at Cafe M at 8:05 am and proceeded to stand around for 15 minutes. On one occasion, a man walked up into the open doorway, and proceeded to come right back out, and left. After a silent and unnoticeable flip of the Closed sign to the Open sign, we saw others waiting begin to shuffle uncomfortably into the doorway, stopping inside as if to say “are you open? Are we allowed to be in here?” There was no formal welcome in or apology for opening late, in fact the woman arranging the signage didn’t seem to speak. It was overall a very unwelcoming and uncomfortable wait, and we decided to eat somewhere else instead.
This little treasure lived up to the hype it deserved. Our breakfast did take awhile to be served, but the items we ordered were wonderful. The breakfast isn’t heavy and very good portion sizes. Mimosas were the star of the show. We had a wonderful view while eating.
The tea was excellent but the owner and her staff made the whole experience. I’d been traveling to Savannah for nearly 12 hours after a 3:30 am wake up. They were incredible kind, and made sure I felt good before leaving. The owner, Christine and Holly and another excellent employee went out of their way to make me feel welcome!
Felt like I was in the twilight zone the entire time I was there. Every employee was blissfully unaware of what was going on/how a restaurant is supposed to work. Ordered 2 sandwiches (the Provence and the Savannah). Truly was expecting the food to be worth it judging by the pricing on the menu. The Savannah came out almost immediately and was average at best. Then, I sat here for an hour while watching more than a dozen sandwiches pass me and my boyfriend. We had yet to get his food and asked not once, not twice, but three times for his missing food. They proceeded to tell us they were making it and we waited another 20+ minutes before they told us his was next in line. Why would a restaurant not push a missing order for a customer who’s been waiting an hour to the front of the line? We asked for a refund or literally anything to make this up, but they were too clueless to realize anything was wrong. Would love to speak to the owner!
It took over an hour to get 2 cold sandwiches when it wasn’t even full in the restaurant. 2 stars because the sandwiches were good when they finally came out. Staff was rude about asking where our food was except for 1 of them who was nice
Lovely French bistro. Simple menu with light fare. Not your overly rich, heavy French cuisine. You can do a snack or a full meal at modest prices. We didnt try the mimosas or Irish coffee, as we were there before the legal serve time of 11am.
Do not recommend this place for food! Waited for 30 minutes for our breakfast sandwich, finally got them and the order was wrong and croissant was burnt, asked for new ones and waited another 45 minutes never received the sandwiches, asked for refund and saw my burnt sandwiches coming out of the oven. Never coming here again.
I love iced tea and they make it to order...a fresh glass each time. The oatmeal was delicious and staff were very friendly.
I am currently sitting at this establishment. I ordered the most simple sandwich a human can make. It has been an hour. They forgot about a young boy’s sandwich and are not hurrying along to serve me. I am in critical condition after spending a weekend in Savannah and my $15 sandwich is the only thing keeping my soul alive. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Steer clear!
Best food I’ve had in savannah, The employees are so kind and respectful. Literally the best restaurant I’ve came too.
The service was very slow. I waited 25+ minutes for two coffee drinks (to go). The servers seemed very stressed out while working. I got an espresso which was not very good and my companion got a cappuccino which he said was just O.K. If you are looking for a good & quick coffee, I would look elsewhere. (I did not eat any food here, so maybe that is the better selling point!)
Ordered two drinks and a bacon, egg, and cheese to go. Waited 30 minutes before we went to check if the sandwich was ready and they had given it away to someone else. They didn’t offer anything extra to make up for it. A hour and $27 (20% tip that I regret leaving at the beginning) later we finally got it. Go here if you have at least an hour to waste on a to go order.Photo of what my coffee looked like when we finally got our sandwich. They need to figure out a better system.Edit: they gave me another latte so I changed it to three stars
Disappointing. First, a few staff members wear masks on the chin. That never looks good, i think you either do it right or don’t, in between ways are not the best. Now, The place is nice inside and has a patio with tables that are comfortable, but service is slow and somewhat sloppy. “For here” orders are brought to the table in a “to go” fashion (paper cups, no cutlery, the spoon for the granola was thrown by the server ON the granola in its plastic wrapping -seriously). Pastry was not heated. In summary, certainly not what you would expect from a nice looking cafe. Pictures on the internet are not representative of the real food. Cappuccino was good. The inside is cute but I think I would avoid this area of town and go deeper into the historic district for a better experience. Might be ok for a real “to go”.
Great little Cafe. Staff is friendly and the food/drinks are great
Had breakfast and coffee from here three days in a row as it is attached to where we stayed.Excellent food!!! Everything we had was great.******Be sure to order ahead on line, as they get very busy!!! My order was ready on time each time. I was able to bypass people waiting inside to place orders and get my stuff.Well definitely go back when we return to Savannah!
If you leave Savannah without at least trying the salmon quiche or one of the baguette sandwiches, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Both were exceptional. The space and service were exceptional as well. We’ll go again as soon as we’re back in Savannah.
If you are French and looking for good bread and croissant/pain au chocolat i true lu believe that Café M is the best place in Savannah and it’s area. The French brunch is very filling with a juice, hot drink, croissant + pain au chocolat + tartine of choice + a parfait!Mimosas are fantastic and you get a deal for bottomless mimosas with the purchase of a brunch meal. The service was wonderful with everyone working very friendly and efficient. From a French to anybody looking for something authentic I highly recommend!
Amazing food, friendly staff and laid back atmosphere. Highly recommend.
This is the worst place in savannah. They completely forgot about our order and we had to wait for an hour and 7 minutes before getting our 2 sandwiches. When we had to remind them how to do their job of making sandwiches, they were very rude and could not even look me in the eye. Not worth it even in the slightest. Stay away.
Was so busy we wait an hour for food. But it was delicious! Genuine, Parisian flaky pastries and tasty coffee. Would absolutely recommend on a not crazy busy day!
We went to have lunch at Cafe M my father is disabled and has a walker he was told he couldnt sit at the table until he ordered but he cant stand for long periods because of his disability so thats why he was sitting and i was in line to order for us. He was told by one of the employees he had to get up because he hadnt ordered and his response was my son is in line for us to order and i cant stand for long periods. He was instructed that didnt matter that he needed to get up so we left after a few choice words from me. Its the law to be accessible and accommodating to handicapped and or disabled especially with him being a veteran. We will never visit this place again, our family or our friends will ever visit cafe m again and I hope who ever reads this wont either. The owner and management should be outraged, I sure am!!
Perfect cup of English breakfast tea with properly heated milk. Outstanding croissant and breakfast sandwich on beautiful baguette.
A great little place for breakfast! We split a bacon egg and brie sandwich on a baguette which was really good. I also recommend the Savannah mimosa of you like peach planted drinks. The stumped is unique, and the service was really good. These guys look like they work very hard out of that little kitchen.
Easily some of the best pastries Ive had! Very cute space near the riverwalk that offered a fun variety of options. The wait can be a bit long (albeit we went on Easter Sunday, so to be expected), but the staff is kind and it is well worth it. The peach mimosas were very good, too! Nice cafe vibes.
Nice staff, great food, quiet atmosphere. Seating is limited and so are the number of staff members so get there early for a good seat!
Was literally asked to leave because we sat at a table while deciding what to order just moments before I was going to get in line. Reason we sat: my mother is 73 and can barely walk and has an ankle brace on. Yea I get first come, first serve, but we did get there before most of those people, we just hadnt ordered yet. BOTTOM LINE: SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR ELDERS!!!Also, I read some of the other reviews and apparently this isnt the first time an elderly, disabled person was treated with lack of respect/priority. I also read of accommodations for disabled...but what about accommodations for the heat? Only 2 outside tables have umbrellas for shade, hence why we sat down at one of them. This isnt the first time Ive had issues coming to Cafe M and I am extremely disappointed once again.
Great food, took 30 mins to get our latte
We had 2 sandwhiches, the Normandy and the Province, a cappuccino and a tea and it was $46. The food was good but I wouldnt say it was worth the wait or the price tag. Employee at the counter seemed like she was just waiting for her shift to end and couldnt care less about the line out the door. In the entry to the kitchen area we could see the trash spilling over onto the floor, not the most appealing site.
Wonderful pseudo parisian cafe ... a little on the pricey side but the coffee is outstanding and the staff is very welcoming and friendly
Our tour guide recommended so we jumped off and had lunch. Crussaints were divine and lunch was fresh and fab.
Was way over priced, $54.00 for three sandwiches and two drinks, tables are not stable enough to set drinks on. Oh and the order was still wrong but to busy to take it back and get it fixed . Not bad but we wont be back.
A quaint little establishment with an endearing charm of past time/present. Out door sitting is pleasantly spaced with a view of the river and the historic structures, and streets. Not to mention if you stay at the River Street Inn, or the Hampton youre door steps away from all the downtown activities. Seven Wonders Travel Agency is my preferred Agency for this type of excursion.
Cafe M is my all-time favorite lunch/brunch spot in Savannah. The sandwiches are so delicious, and I always have to get a macaroon as something sweet. And you cant forget to pair your meal with a bubble mimosa. The French bistro ambiance is quaint and cozy. I absolutely LOVE Cafe M!
Is your dream to go to Paris, but dont have a budget for it? Stop by at Cafe M. From the fist moment I stepped in Cafe M, I felt like Im in France. The music, the smells, the atmosphere, the delicious coffee... Its all there. Its a busy place, at least at the time I visited it it was packed with a never-ending line. I was lucky to get a table. So what are you waiting for? Voulez-vous prendre un café?
Excellent food at a nice leisurely pace.
I almost dont want to write this review in fear that others will become addicted like me. Its the perfect little escape for nice little brunch. On a misty Sunday morning, I fell in love with Cafe M. From the time I walked in, it felt as if I had been transported to another place. The staff was warm and friendly and my croissant sandwich was delicious; topped off with the perfect salted caramel cappuccino. I normally like a lot of sugar in my coffee but, I didnt have to add a thing to it. I could have sat there all day and just watched the beautiful people of Savannah go by. I cant wait for my next visit.
Most expensive mediocre breakfast and it took an hour to get it. After waiting an hour my bf and I got served the wrong food, so I mentioned the wait was unacceptable. When the correct food order was finally brought out, the server gave us an ultimatum to eat or get a refund. Any decent establishment would be apologetic for the mistake and wait, instead of giving the customer attitude.Would not recommend. Don’t waste your day in Savannah waiting on this brunch with an attitude.
Loved the food, atmosphere and very friendly staff. Cafe was charming, a must when in Savannah!
Amazing and friendly service and while I’m no pastry expert, I had the best raspberry pie pastry I’ve ever had in my life.
The mimosas are a great price and the Georgia Peach Mimosa is next level!!
This cafe looks amazing and so aesthetically pleasing. However, I asked for an American brunch without cheese and they said the eggs come that way, meaning it’s not fresh. The cashier in front said it didn’t have that much cheese but the cottage cheese changed the texture of the eggs. I am lactose intolerant and it was very disappointing. To top it all off, the baguette wasn’t warmed up or toasted, neither were the croissants. Very disappointing visit. At least the mocha latte was good.
Delicious breakfast right near the River! We sat outside and enjoyed breakfast croissants and coffee. We had little kids with us so they brought the kids’ croissant out first which I thought was really nice. We will definitely be back!
Long wait for the egg croissant. Was a little burnt. The eggs weren’t fresh and made from a mix. Lots of people coming back to the register to check on their order. On a good note, the apple pastry and coffee were good.
What a charming place! We intended to go to Two Cracked Eggs but they had a long wait and customers seemed very cranky, so we took ourselves for a stroll and found Cafe M and ventured inside. The Earl Grey tea was a delicate blend that I found so delicious I bought a box to bring home, and the Parisian croissant was perfect! I’m so glad we went here where we had a filling, delightful breakfast in a cute cafe but that was light enough we won’t be walking around in the heat with over-full bellies - no one wants that misery. We will definitely be back to Cafe M our next trip to Savannah! (Oh, and my husband says the coffee was excellent ;)
If you dont mind waiting 25 minutes for a cup of mediocre coffee, 2 cold (but I must say, very good) croissants with rock hard butter for $15 bucks, youll love this place.
Quaint place to visit on our tour...worth the stop
Very limited, few pastries...from past review pictures and the description I was excitedly hoping for a nice selection of french pastries but at least when we visited there were only 2-3 items and they were very basic, a plain croissant, a baguette, etc. Menu food looked good but do not go if you are looking for a true bakery/patisserie
Delicious croissant sandwiches, made with fresh ingredients! The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was calm and classy
The coffee was so good on this cold day! Also staff was so attentive and gave me great customer service! Especially loved the seating area outside with the view of beautiful savannah! Great location.
Amazing food and super friendly staff! Would recommend to anyone who wants a grab and go or even a sit down and enjoy experience.
Food was tasty. Plan ahead to wait 20 mins for your order. It gets very crowded during meal times. They have one vegetarian option. But portion size of soup is too small.
Great! Everything was good, The baguette, The croissant, the way they do the egg in the bread, the coffee, and the service. I really liked this place. The place is clean, they are active in social distancing and have fewer tables inside, mask are required at this time. Hard times for all restaurants, this one is doing their best.
