Mixed bag… Dustin (the General Manager), Mark, the chief mechanic and most people there are absolutely great!.However, I had the worse experience ever with a project manager (who left in the middle), the fiberglass guy who is actually just a painter that knows nothing about quality and efficient fiberglass work and Greg, a rigger/mechanic that did his best to ruin the job and create a nightmare with everything he was trying to do. All the three together with the most unreliable billing process made their best to super inflate the charges with 000’s of never provided time and materials combined with the worse job I’ve ever seen in my 40 years of serious boats ownership.Got stuck there for months over the plan and thankfully, after Dustin’s intervention, at the last moment, things more or less were sorted out. The cost, however, was at least 3x the reasonable. - Left me with a very bad taste.

We shipped our 40 year old Hinckley Bermuda 40 Yawl to the Savannah Hinckley yard for a total restoration. Over a three year period the team replaced all systems and equipment, including the engine, electronics, water heater, masts and booms, as well as auxiliary pumps and motors, stripped and varnished all bright work and repainted the hull and deck. During our project we found the Hinckley team to be professional, knowledgeable, and highly skilled at their work. At the end of the project our Bermuda 40 looked like the day she did when delivered from the yard. I highly recommend this yard for your next boat repair, renovation, or service project.

Awful job. No cleanup. Told estimate which was not even close to Bill I received. Then rushed off. Will never go back. Have pics of the items stuck to the hull also edges of fiberglass not sanded smooth. Very disappointed. Cut 50 to 60 foot of a spool of rope I had for rigging boat. Not for dock rope. Slowest hourly moving people Ive ever seen.

The staff was more than gracious and hospitable, they were warmly attentive. We were only there for a survey short-haul and transient dockage for a night or two, but they treated us like honored guests and handled maneuvering the boat into the sling expertly. Also, the equipment, restrooms, office, and docks were all clean and in very good repair. They will be my go-to yard for future surveys in the area, without a doubt.

Great boat yard. Ive always had good experiences here. We store our boat on the hard for hurricane season/winter, they do a fine job taking care of everything. Before hurricane Matthew, they worked around the clock for almost 3 days prepping all the boats and hauling out every boat they could to lock them down. And then after their docks were destroyed by the hurricane, they rebuilt them in less than a week! Pretty amazing crew down there.

These guys are great. Had my boat in and out in about a week to fix an overheating problem. I had brought my boat to another mechanic initially who charged me $2,000.00 and did not stop the overheating. After their second try at it, with no success, I took my boat to Hinckley where their Volvo certified mechanic found what the other place had done wrong and corrected it right away. The boat runs great and the price was very fair. This is the only place I will bring my boat now.

Mar 25 2017We developed a fuel leak on our way north to start the DownEast Loop. Contacted Dustin and Paul on Saturday to see if they would be able to assist us. They responded immediately, made room for us on their limited dock space (due to hurricane damage). Monday morning first thing Bob was on our boat searching for the leak. Found a small pin hole in a fuel line, by 5 pm we were repaired and ready to continue our trek. Outstanding customer service! I highly recommend this facility and the folks who work here!Dustin Hartley, General Manager, Paul Hughes, Service Manager, Drew, our dock handler, and all the nice folks we met during our short stay were outstanding. The staff went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met. We were provided with a courtesy car to run our propane tanks to be refilled and to restock at the local Publix. Paul even helped my husband down with a dock cart filled with supplies down the ramp at low tide. I highly recommend Hinckley, Thunderbolt GA. These guys go above and beyond! Hinckley will definitely be one of our transit stops whenever traversing north and south. Thank you guys! Keep up the good work! See you in the Fall!

I cannot recommend Hinckley Marine in Savannah based on poor customer service and untimely/incomplete repair. (See details below.)1-Boat fire January 2015 on my Grady White 33 Express2-Told boat was ready March 19th, 2016 (after about 70Kof repair)3- March 19th: rear bench seat missing, helm with hole covered in black duct tape, no cushions on board (interior or exterior) and filthy boat. Water standing on the teak/holly cabin floor leaving permanent mildew stain. (Some cushions later located in garbage bags on site with extensive dry rot)4-Lost time and money in attempted pickup of boat March 19th due to dog boarding, childcare, and non-refundable hotel5-The following week met with yard manager and surveyor. Fishbox (which is large and encompasses most of my transom) insulated with open cell foam insulation. Reviewed items listed above.6- Pick up date moved to May 20 by Hinckley.7-During May 18th sea trial, unrepaired items included: Windlass, spotlight, missing screws in freezer plates and other small items8-Independent surveyor (hired by me) advised to allow two more weeks.9-Boat retrieved June 2nd, 2016, with a 13K bill. (Still awaiting my insurance company to reimburse me for a large portion.)10-At pick up, boat looked great. Small items noted were fish box missing gas shock, mounting pieces around autopilot, and a screw mounting autopilot, which I agreed to handle.11-Upon arrival to Charleston, heavy scum and growth noted on engines from the waterline down. I inquired via email how long the engines were lowered and was told 1-1.5 weeks.12-Current update: starboard engine will not flush with fresh water, coolant container for the diesel generator found empty. (I refilled it and ran the generator and it sucked it dry. One more round and it has hopefully leveled out.) I will be checking when I return to the boat on Thursday.13-Autopilot quit working between sea trial and Charleston.
