Friendly staff. Great location. Excellent place to enjoy a cold beer with a view of the bay.We originally planned to stop in to pick up some bait and were pleasantly surprised to discover that had a grill and huge seating area. The nice man in the bait shop showed my son how to scoop the shrimp from the tanks--a fun and memorable experience for him.We ordered the mozzarella sticks and enjoyed a beer and lemonade around sunset. We will definitely return for both bait and another mean with a view!
Love, love New Pass Grill! Great food and friendly service! Take it from a local. Don’t miss this great spot on the water. Stop in before or after a visit to the Mote or Save Our Seabird. Breakfast sandwiches are yummy. Coldest beer and delicious sandwiches. Love the new look too!
I think my favorite restaurant experience during our recent Florida vacation was the New Pass Grill & Bait Shop. My family and I stopped in for lunch after a visit to the nearby Mote Aquarium. This is a great spot for outdoor dining, with a desk and beach overlooking Sarasota Bay. Orders are placed at the counter and your name is announced over the speaker when your order is ready for pickup. My wife ordered the New Pass Stuffed Tomato with chicken salad ($9.99). Choice of homemade chicken or tuna salad stuffed in a fresh ripe tomato served on a bed of lettuce, onions, pickles, and greek peppers. Once you start slicing this up, it is essentially a salad topped with chicken salad. The chicken salad was tasty and no dressing was required for the salad.I ordered the chicken salad sub ($8.99) and onion rings ($4.99). As you can see in my photos, the servings are plentiful! The sub was really good, and again a quality traditional chicken salad with celery and mayo. Our kids enjoyed the grilled cheese with fries ($6.99).The food at New Pass Grill & Bait Shop is simple, but serving sizes are large, and the view is spectacular. Worth a visit!
Just had lunch here and it was awesome! Delicious, affordable, and a great location right on the water. I had a tuna fish sandwich, my husband had a double bacon cheese burger, and we split French fries. Loved sitting on the barstools in the shade overlooking the water. Truly a gem.
Great food and atmosphere. Very casual, outside seating, high bar, picnic bench seating right on the water. If you have a boat, you can dock and eat as well.
A little run down, average food but man you gotta love the location. Really nice sitting at the waters edge and watching the dolphins in the pass, the storks on the dock and the fish under your feet. Had the fish n chips.
Great bait shop on long boat key. Never tried the restaurant
Quaint little shack at a boat dock. Not much space/seating, but they offer take out. Environmentally friendly: paper cups, paper straws, biodegradable containers. My son had the grouper bites basket, his best friend had the shrimp basket, and I the grilled grouper sandwich basket. All came with fries and coleslaw. The boys both said the fried grouper bites and the seasoning on them was amazing. I like my sandwich, and the shrimp was gone before we could ask him how they were. I would definitely recommend this place to tourists and locals alike.
Best bait shop close to Longboat Key! The staff there are super nice and helpful to novice fisherman from out of town. Thanks to the fellas that helped me get fish on the hook!
Nothing but good to say. Its quaint. Its delicious. Good food variety. Nice, helpful people at the bait shop. Incredible view. This small rest spot might be the best attraction on the coast.
They have the best fish and chips. We came here 1st time after the mote aquarium visit and i saw they have a bait shop. Today i decided to stop by to grab some live shrimp. I am pretty newbie with this fishing thing and people work inside was so helpful and took their time to explain. Won’t go anywhere else for bait anymore! Thank you for your kindness and time. I really appreciate you
Since 1929 tackle shop & eatery with kitschy fishing decor, serving breakfast, subs & burgers.Outdoor seating only.A Sarasota one and only.Be careful when you enter. Its easy to walk in the bait shop instead. The food good but it is a greasy grill and that’s what makes it so likable.Service good.Views incredible.Pricing a little expensive.Parking easy.AWARDED 2 YUMS ON A SCALE OF 3
Our husbands had a boat fishing off the pier. Poles and bait provided for a great price. Food was great too.
Love this place ! Beautiful Views, Smiling Quick Service, Great Prices and Food : )Enjoyed my Breakfast Sandwich and Coffee !Est 1929 and still going strong !
Docked our boat and our party of eight enjoyed better than expected food at this hidden gem. Hamburgers and chicken tenders were a hit all around. Portions were generous and tasty.
Stopped in for a quick bite and were not disappointed.Orders are placed & paid for at window facing the water & your name is called when your order is ready. We picked a table by the water with a beautiful view.Husband had a cheeseburger & onion rings ($12) I had cheeseburger & Fries ($8.99) and daughter had chicken strips & fingers ($8.99) food was well cooked and tasty.
One of my favorite places. The best breakfast sandwich Ive had, and to watch it in a cool atmosphere makes it a wonderful place. Took two of my kids with me to get the family breakfast, we ended up sitting and eating our food and watched a few fisherman come in to the bait shop. Saw a few dolphins in the water and it was a blast.
Weve eaten at this place before as it is very popular! The food is excellent. We had fish and chips which one meal is enough for two people. The scenery is beautiful too. The seating is outdoors. Its next to the bridge between Lido and Longboat Key.
This place has stood the test of time, it was established in 1929 and still going strong. I bought my breakfast and coffee there everyday because it is great quality and great taste. The staff is very sweet and makes sure you are very taken care of. When your done eating, go next store and buy freshly caught bait and rent a pole to cast out from their beach right next door.
First place I go to when I arrive in Siesta Key....head over the beautiful bridge and go to New Pass Grill & Bait Shop for a delicious fish & chips meal. Lightly fried, very very fresh white fish and the best french fries ever! I sit in the sun and enjoy watching the blue herons, the osprey and the gulls fly around overhead. Its a local hotspot - fishermen come here for their bait before heading out to deeper water. If you want to experience true local culture head over to New Pass Grill & Bait Shop!
Not a fancy place at all but its definitely worth a stop. They have food and beer here. Its a walk up window to order your food and drinks. Then its all outdoor seating with a nice view of the water. Theyll call you to pick up your food at the window. If you have a boat and are looking for a place to grab some grub they do have a dock. Saw several people come and go by boat while we were there.
Ehh. It’s okay. Not very special. Frozen patties. Pre made cocktail sauce. It’s like a high end little league concession stand. 20$ for a grouper sandwich. It was quick enough for an on the go meal but not very impressed. One staff member was very nice but the other two were less than inviting to say the least.
They have a wide variety of food options and the food is good. Love the view and the fact that I can drive my boat there.
Nothing fancy, but we always come back to it for its scenery and no nonsense menu. Its not exclusively seafood, and theres no crab on the menu (that last point is why I docked one star). Their spicy battered fries are excellent.
Looks like a greasy spoon, but was a decent casual dining experience. Out door dining only. Carry out. Burger was very good and very sloppy! Fries were fair. Moderate sized selection of canned beer. Enjoyable, but a little too pricey for what get
Sitting there on the water is the best! You can actually go down and stick your feet in the water! Boats can come right up and get ice and beer and food! The food was delicious! Stuffed tomato with chicken salad!! Yum! Just a little place but unbeatable place to chill, have a bite to eat and enjoy the water!! Loved it!
This is such a beautiful spot weve passed so many times and finally stopped. I had the fish sandwich with their homemade tarter sauce and bakery style bun, cant believe I finished it, was delicious! Hubby had the fried shrimp basket, which he enjoyed. Great fries!
The quintessential dive spot. Right in the water. Burgers beer and bait. Everything you need in south Florida
Great place to eat, great egg sandwich. The bait shop is the best in town.Tell them Joe Baker sent you.
Great sandwiches! I love taking my family here by boat or car. It is a hidden gem for a relaxing casual quick lunch. It is a great place to go after visiting More Marine Aquarium. The views are priceless and the water activity is entertaining. This is a must, if you find yourself near lido or longboat key!
Great place to have a very good burger beer is a bit pricey on their beer. They make home made cookies. Great view of the water not to good on a hot day though they do have little shaded areas.
Very friendly staff and good food too. We park the boat at the dock and eat breakfast and or lunch . Great bait shop that always has shrimp.
Great little place on the water. Gorgeous view and delicious food. The fish sandwich was one of the best Ive had in a long time. We went to the aquarium right down the road afterwards and it was the perfect spot to eat beforehand.
I really do like this place the food is very good N people are very Nice
Great burgers and fries. The Beer and drinks were ice cold. Fast service very friendly people and staff.
Great view, groper sandwich is a little too expensive, tourist pricing. Food was good, service was great.
Amazing food!!! Redtide is heavy in the area and staff leaked a price increase soon! Foods great but other circumstances left rating low
Lovely spot for a cold drink and tasty bites. Love the rolls used for sandwiches. Very fresh and tasty! Sometimes it can be a bit oily when they plate fried things directly from the fryer. Docking for boats and parking that accommodates their size and seating. See you soon! Cant wait to try lobster rolls
Dead fish on the shore took away from any scenery. The food was all fried and didnt taste fresh. Had grouper that was plain and underdone.
Had a great view while eating, got our food quickly and it was all delicious. Definitely reccomend
Ist time. Not fine dining, but really enjoyed the view, friendly helpful staff, and big portions. I had clams and fries, more than I could finish, and, thankfully they were not burned. Some picnic tables and a few dockside stools, no other dining area..so beware. If you step away for a moment, the birds will help themselves!
Been going to the bait shop for several years. Live shrimp and various other baits. The grill has burgers, hot dogs, fried fish, all of which are good plus cold beer. Bait shop and grill both have reasonable prices
Good food great location cant ask for more
The best damn burgers in town! A little pricey, but worth every penny!
Great burgers, cheap beer and a living in paradise view! Small little restaurant on the waters edge near Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota. Great for boaters also.
One of the best places you could ask for. A real old time vibe right on the water. Not too many people there and the staff was extremely kind. Having a burger and a beer by the water with the birds is a memory I will never forget. Best option for food in the area!
Really good grilled grouper, not breaded or deep fried. Very moist, served on a bun with lettuce, tomatos & tartar sauce. Fries and slaw on the side. Also battered & fried cod sandwich. Islamorda and other beers. Other food offerings. Rustic quaint old place right at waters edge just a short way from the Mote Aquarium. Open air tables. Friendly staff and very friendly seagulls.
Great fish and chips while looking at the beautiful water. Stopped by for bait too a few times. Very helpful and informative. Worth the stop!
Frozen food cooked I was not a fan I will not be returning here did not enjoy this place and its over priced for the quality of food they serve
Food is a super good and cheap, amazing view :)
Service was good. Food was not bad. The view was fabulous!
Our vacation was that much better finding a nice friendly bait shop away from ours……. Thank you guys
A burger by the sea is always better than a burger anywhere else.
Beauty by Bay. Whats more to say........
The best burger Ive eaten in Florida!
Great burgers and blackened grouper sandwich. More outdoor seating than it looks like at first. We were fortunate enough to get 1 of the two picnic tables with the best view. Parking can be a bit tricky but we got there just vin time.
Old school Florida bait shop. Reliable spot to get bait and tackle that can be accessed by boat or car.
Such a pretty little stop to grab food at. Right on the water with plenty of unobstructed view. The food is good and they serve beer as well. You also have the option to pull up on your boat to grab a bite as they have a dock.
Hot fresh breakfast sandwiches, nice ocean/bird views.
This is I guess old Florida, has been there for many years, nothing wrong with that. The view across the water was excellent along with the bar food.
Great bait shop. Pretty good food. Better bait than food, but I mean its got both so thats cool. Expensive beer, but at least they got it 👍
Great big little hole in the wall place. On the bayside. Great hamburgers.
We didnt eat here, but the bait shop was great. The man there is friendly and helpful. There were places to 🐠 fish🐠 right there! We were told by a local that this is actually a good spot to catch snook when the water is warmer. And its quite shallow so you can wade out a bit to fish. Great spot!!!
Their fish sandwich is delicious. I recomend this place to you.
