Amazing guitar selection from a variety of brands. As well as unique and rare guitars difficult to find other places. The staff are also extremely helpful and informative, and nice in general. Lots of other instruments as well. Recently I purchased a B.C. Rich Bich from Star, a guitar I never thought I would see in a guitar store. Great repair services as well. They know what theyre doing.

Came in to check out some bass guitars, staff was super friendly and chill. I tried out just about every bass they had hanging and fell in love with a vintage one they had that was very fairly priced. The staff was able to tell me a lot about the instrument and were honest about it’s condition. I really appreciated the vibe they had in the shop and the incredible variety of new and used instruments and equipment they offered, will absolutely come back again when I’m in need of another piece of gear.

Guitar selection is OK but displayed in a very awkward and hard to browse way that was more work than it was worth. Staff was more interested in whatever they were doing with their phone than helping me and seemed annoyed to have a customer. I cannot recommend this store when they have excellent competition in the area.

Came in to buy a small ticket item (some guitar bridge pins). The sales person treated me the same as if I was buying a $5k guitar. Patient, pleasant and spent plenty of time with me. Even taught me something about pins that I had never learned in my 50 years of restringing guitars. Cant get service like this from the non-local big boxes.

Great experience! Wonderful humans who definitely portrayed their knowledge enough to help me with a variety of questions, and apart from their beautiful guitar collection, they have a bunch of other instruments as well! They especially helped me with an adapter and power conversion questions.I’ll definitely stop by here again if I ever need new gear or some advice!

I have known the staff for at least five years. I have watched them build a successful music store. They have equipment for the amateur and professional. I have bought five guitars from them. They have acoustic and electric guitars priced for the beginner and up to advanced players. Lots of amps, drum equipment, straps, cords, guitar effects and other accessories. I consider Star Guitars to be a major music store in Sonoma County.

If you’re looking for some assistance or direction, this is not the place for you. Person at the counter made me feel completely unwelcome. Because of his unwelcoming attitude, I did not want to stay in the store for another minute, let alone ask any questions. Five stars for the wide selection, zero stars for service.

STAR’s has been my go to spot for getting my guitars all in line for quite some years now, they always do an amazing job and walk with me every step of the way. I just picked up my King V that I’d had them shim some wood off of to create a better taper on the body to allow higher shredding, and I COULD NOT be more pleased with the results. Tobin, Alice, and Jackson are always amazing and welcoming to me and I truly love this spot. I wouldn’t get work done on my guitars anywhere else! Get here! Not to mention the amazing selection of new and used guitars, amps, pedals, etc.

Like walking into forgotten reality, the store was quiet and empty at 11:00 am. After ringing the bell I was let into a mini palace of guitars by the store owner who was super chill and helpful. Its been years since Ive been in a guitar store and it took me back to a time when nothing else mattered but strings and wood and sound. The rest of the world falls away and I became emersed in what seemed to be a one giant guitar and I was a note in it. Another guy comes in and starts playing a Martin and a conversation of riffs tunes and melodies come forth as we marvel at a host of music over the last 50 years. Steve Winwood, Gerry Garcia and a host other l characters seemed to be in the room . The time dissolved for about an hour. Thanks for the flight guys-

With big box music stores trying to take over brick and mortar stotes are becoming less and less. STAR GUITARS has so much great gear for every occasion with top brands such as Gibson, Dean, ESP, EVH, Fender and so much more at great prices! If you love gear you must check this store out and experiance the humble and warming atmosphere for yourself. It will be tour new home for gear in the Santa Rosa area on third st. Owner very helpful - Assisted me personally. While it was obvious that I had never touched a guitar before, he was patient and willing to share his knowledge with me. It was he that inspired me to build my own bass. I will gladly take the finished project to him to critique and adjust if needed..

Ive been dropping in on this store ever since I helped move a good friend from Bostons South Shore to Windsor. This is a small store with a lot of equipment and very experienced staff. Alice was super patient with me, as I was looking for a small used practice amp to play when Im visiting my friend in Windsor. I actually leave it at his condo. They have some rad ukuleles too.

One of the best music shops in the country, was treated with the utmost respect. Great pricing, clean shop, Great variety, would definitely recommend :-)

The owner charged me twice the normal price for guitar strings on my debit card without telling me.I called in advance to ask the store if they had my favorite strings in stock (Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottoms) and the man on the line said they did. When I arrived at the store, I made the mistake of not asking for the price of the strings as I generally trust small business vendors to be honest with their prices. He made a point to not show me the receipt and I didnt think anything of it (as these strings are $6.50 per pack generally). I bought two packs and left for home.When I got home I checked my banking app to see how much he charged me for two packs of strings and it came out to ~$33. While this is not a jarring financial loss, due to the dishonesty of the employee/owner I will never return to this store for business.

The owner is a nice person, but the employee don’t know anything about music and is rude, he obviously don’t want to be working in that place he just make me want to never go back there.Well to be more specific, on Sunday I approached the place and was very happy why the owner had decided to help me even though the place had already closed, since I drove from Garberville to the place to buy some things. When I arrived I was attended by a man with long hair, he was quite in a hurry and with a bad attitude, I asked him some questions and the truth could not answer almost none, obviously he does not know music, and I do not want to be disrespectful by saying this but he at least should know what he is selling, he did not explain anything about the guarantee and he did not even give me a receipt, I made a purchase of more than two thousand dollars cash, and I think that any type of client should be treated in the same way, regardless of whether they are going to spend a lot or a little, regardless of being American, Hispanic or whatever, I probably would have bought more things but the attitude and the sellers lack of professionalism is totally a disadvantage for the store. I think the seller could have a bad day, we all have bad days, but he must know how to separate his work from his personal life, Im not trying to be rude but little details can make a big difference and I think its good that the owner knows that good customer service could improve sales, when you go to a store and they serve you with a good attitude, you can leave a tip and become a frequent customer. Found my old Randal Commandeer 2 from the late 70s, the same amplifier I bought in the late 70s on-line at this store just down the street, could not believe it. Star guitars accepted my offer and made it easy to get my old amp back accommodating 2 more payments to make financing this very easy. Nice, friendly staff and a good selection of everything, even Flying V ukuleles! Great to know they are a resource in the area!

Brought my guitar in as it had a broken G string. They repaired the string, tuned up the guitar and adjusted the neck right in front of me all while teaching me how to do everything. Was super helpful and will be coming back again:)

I wanted to wait a few days before posting this. That said, I couldnt be happier with the work that the entire crew at Star Guitars performed on my old Strat that had a few issues. I recently moved to the SR area and had never visited the shop before and Im glad I did. Alice, Tovin, and Jackson all worked their magic on this baby and its never played better. As a long-time musician, I can immediately tell the difference from someone who knows their craft and someone who works at Guitar Center, and these guys are the real deal. Bought a used guitar at the store. It initially had some issues so I was frustrated. This would ordinarily have me rate the shop lower, but I received some truly amazing service when returning the following day. Friendly and helpful!

I have taken a couple of my guitars to the shop for setups and part installations. Each time, they did a good job, finished within a day and charged me a fair price! The staff is helpful and responsive-- especially over the phone! I will definitely return for setups and repairs in the future. 5 Star Guitars.

The manager was completely disrespectful and totally rude. He ended up treating us so badly that my husband told him he felt like he was being disrespectful and the guy kicked us out when we where being friendly and respectful and asking questions. Will never go there again. Completely uncalled for.

This place is great! Amazing service, friendly staff, and great gear. A lot of guitar and musicians gear places nowadays, sadly, seem to have removed themselves from the passion of being in the music industry, instead taking a purely business-like perspective to the trade. But not these guys! They are focused on providing their fellow musicians with the best gear and services to meet their needs, period. Plus, they take an active role in the community, donating guitars and gear to schools and other institutions, thus providing the means for children and students to express their creativity through music. I am now coming here for all of my needs as a musician, and implore all musicians who are passionate about their art to do the same.

Im only partially done with servicing my guitar but Im really happy with the spot on recommendations that needed to happen with my guitar. The service is very professional and friendly.
