Great staff, quality selection of books and music! Been buying there for years, almost always find something surprising...

The books here are well curated and priced by someone who knows what they’re doing. I was impressed by the literature section and the local section. In the end I left with a nice pocket-sized book called Walks in Literary Santa Fe, which I took to dinner at the Shed last night. (Next time I return, I hope they still have a book about the ghosts of Santa Fe!)

This has to be one of my all-time favorite places in Santa Fe. Its a small space, but their collection of books and CDs is well curated and reasonably priced. Because of how pleasant the owner and staff are, its also easy to sell/trade, which I really appreciate.

What an incredible hidden gem! I am a lover of quaint local book shops and this is one of my new favorites! They have an incredible variety and my favorite part was the noise of the wooden floor boards. Their prices are not too bad and its always important to support local book shops! They had a sale rack outside where I found some great books. I highly recommend stopping by this amazing spot!

Absolutely fantastic. Masterfully curated collection. Excellent variety, reasonable price, shelves are full of surprises (first editions, out of print, signed copies). After visiting many, many bookstores across the country this place remains one of my top hole-in-the-wall local bookstores.

Big Star Books is a nice shop to visit when looking for quality as other reviewers have noted. Im glad I stopped, I found what I was looking for.

Very well curated bookstore, I went in for regional cookbooks and left with 2. Prices were fair and the selection was quality.

By far, one of the best used book stores in the state. Incredibly accurate and well organized shelves with precise genres for specific tastes. I believe the man who rang me up was the owner and was kind enough to stay open an extra 15 minutes so I could look around. I will definitely continue to stop by every time I’m in town.

Go here before you buy online. Act local. This place has wonderful staff, selection and can find you the book you need if they dont have it.

Pretty great selection. Helpful staff. Lots of new age/spiritual/religion books! Also has Oracle/wisdom/tarot cards in good condition. Def a favorite in town.Theres meter parking right next to it. (Free on Sundays).

This bookstore is really nice. The selection might seem on the small side at first, but then you start looking and every. Single. Book. On the shelf is something interesting, or good. Just such a nice place, I wish I lived in Santa Fe so I could go all the time!

Splendid used bookstore with lots of categories even have a good variety music CDsthe people working in the front are always pretty helpful. I go in there once a month or so and it seems like each time I go they have acquired a new assortment of books

Im from Memphis, TN and was excited to discover that this place is in fact named after the band. It is full of great books, varied selection, great atmosphere, friendly staff, cheerful and cozy. I plan to drop in again (at least once) the next time Im in Santa Fe.

Dropped two boxes of books yesterday and was told wed receive a call back this morning. I just called at 2pm and had a girl answer. Told me that they wouldnt be done until maybe tomorrow? She wasnt sure cause theyre backed up. I told her Id call her back after deciding if i just wanted to get them back since i dont have time to wait around in santa fe.I got a call back in about 10 minutes after she decided to get off her lazy @$$ and look (good job on doing your job) and said someone looked at them yesterday and forgot to call you and we dont want any.So 1) dont blame the guy because he specifically said a GIRL (probably the lazy one I talked to) would call us.2) my husband walked in and they were sooo backed up that there was NO ONE in the store not even an employee3) my books were left unattended by the front door and he literally grabbed them and walked out with no one noticing or stopping him.4) repacked in the boxes so sloppily theyre falling out.Id refer anyone to op. cit. books for reselling books which says a lot since I went yesterday and the ladies there where extremely rude to my husband. We wound up walking out and coming here. Which was apparently a mistake.

I received a good price for the books I sold to Big Star. Browsing through the shop, I found it stocked with a broad range of vintage New Mexico titles that are now out-of-print . Big Star also has an online presence.
