I had a very bad experience with a previous Auto Repair Facility and came to SC Tire/Auto for a second opinion. They were extremely professional, educational, provided proper diagnosis and earned my business forever as loyal customer. They saved me $6.3K and/or getting a new vehicle. They are very honest, integrity driven and excellent service.

They always take care of my car in a timely manner and I trust the mechanics at the shop know what they are doing. My car is pretty old and its the only car I have, so I am always super grateful and appreciative of how they take care of us.. ♥️

Not very professional when dealing with a new customer. I had made an appointment for 3pm online at their website and since I was able to make an appointment I was looking forward to sitting down with a professional mechanic explaining my situation. When I arrive a blonde hair lady at the counter told me that she couldnt have my car looked at until the middle of next week. The problem with this is that I was able to make an appointment and Im a 1st time customer. If they werent going to be able to see me then I should have been notified via email or phone call. I received nothing. So I go there thinking this is going to be a great experience because these guys have a system. But sadly their system failed and I was told I can come next week. But my car needed attention A.S.A.P. so middle of next week wasnt going to work. Plus the receptionists tone was very condescending which made the situation worse. Maybe they have good mechanics. I guess if youre willing to be bossed around and wait a week for your car to be looked at then you might find out.Fortunately there was another place right next door called Auto Express and they took care of everything and I had my car serviced and everything done in a couple of hours. Very pleased and got to chat with a professional mechanic and have made plans to go back in the future to do other things to my car that need to be done! Thank you Auto Express!! I think they were good for what I had to do which was check a tire that wasnt wearing correctly and perform an alignment. The people were friendly and had very good communication before and during the process. I also wanted a smog test but they failed my truck due to smoke that was visible at the tailpipe not due to the computer read out. I guess that means that theyre being very careful to follow state regulations whereas someone else might have passed it since the computer doesnt check that anyway. For smog Id prefer the tester to be more on my side than the states side. Once a smog test place failed me because the gas cap on my car wasnt very tight. The emissions were perfect. Then I took it to another smog place and they passed me right away no questions asked. Thats the kind of thing Im talking about. Anyway this place didnt charge me for this smog test and said they would test it again if I got the smoke issue fixed. So overall I say theyre honest and good so far.

I went for a smog certificate. Use first-come-first-serve scheduling for smog. Got right in. Very friendly staff. Well organized and efficient. Reasonable price too. The shop I formerly used had been closed due to death of owner so I checked out alternatives and chose this place. Its better than my usual shop actually so will always use in the future. I gave up my Costco membership and intend to use this shop for tires in the future as well. Very easy access right off the freeway. They carry Michelin, which I use, and other brands, so Im all set with that. My first impression from this visit is excellent. The business has been remodeled so my newer photos apply.

OMG!My experience with this shop front office woman who identifies herself as the business owner was horrible!After confirmed that this shop could perform a wheel alignment today and done at 1 pm, and I needed to pick up my car before 2 pm closing time, I left my car with her.When I called in at 1:40 pm, she told me they had not worked on my car and might not get to it today. The reason was she did not have a crystal ball on her commitment.When I arrived to pick up my car at 2 pm, not a word of apologies, she acted aggressively and crazy toward me, as if she was engaging in a street fight. She also lied to me that my car key was in my car and refused to give my key back.A friend who gave me the ride to the shop was appalled to witness racial discrimination against an Asian American.I am all for supporting local business but would not give her business ever. How could a customer take abuse from this business owner!

Since my job doesnt do smog we had a last minute customer bring their car to us an even with it being close to closing the folks here got my customers car done in a snap an I was able to get back to my shop an get the customer on there way thanks sc tire/auto care team we at dmv clinic really appreciate u helping us out

I came in late to Santa Cruz Tire and Auto Care to ask for a tire rotation, they squeezed me in because i had to drive to San Diego in two days. The inspection showed break wear and tear to the point where not safe to drive. They were ready to close but Danny said he would stay late to help me out so that i could go to the important meeting i had next day. Danny went way over and above to help me out. Service was great, and the price for my wheel alignment was about $20 less than Lloyds Tire & Auto.The waiting room is now on an outside patio, which has plenty of chairs, but limited shade. I enjoyed my wait, once some room in the shade opened up.

This place is great. They are honest and do a great job. I had them check my brakes as a second opinion after another shop said I needed to replace them. They said I still had time, and didn’t need to replace them yet. Guess who got my business this week to get my brakes serviced?

Had a couple of emergency situations. They replaced my radiator it was pretty bad. Had a smog and repair and passed. Fixed a hole in one of my tires.

Super expensive fix, $ 20 parts would cost $ 200 here. Your credit card gets sucked out for a simple regular maintenance of a car.

Took my car here because it was having a variety of odd issues. Spoke to Danny and he nailed it super quick and got straight to the point! Turns out I was having exhaust leaks and gave me a super affordable quote. Even got an oil change to while I was there because there so fast and reasonable! Go here and Danny will take care of you right away!

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRELIABLE!!!! They agreed to service my BOX Truck had it for three days, th but due to their workload they were going to keep it for another 2-3 days, but they agreed I could take it out for my weekend work/route and return it for service. When I called to bring it back for the service they said it would take about two weeks before they could get to it, so I scheduled it. now they called me and said they just cant work on this kind of trucks... They had previously serviced it. VERY FRUSTRATED WITH THEM...

I have always had a good experience with these folks. They are honest, fairly priced, competent, relatively quick. They have never sold unneeded services to increase a sale, though other shops in the region have done that. I recently bought a set of tires, was able to arrange a good price. They told me that they would check alignment to see if it was needed and quoted me a price which included alignment. When the tire installation was done, they told me I actually didnt need alignment and deducted it from the estimate. Lots of details like that have led me to trust this shop with all of my car repair work. Highly recommended.

They’re a solid family business that are honest and don’t push you to do anything. They give you their opinion and let you decide. I’ve been going to them for years. If I recommend them to my family and friends, I’d recommend them to everyone.

Good diagnostics but literally over twice as EXPENSIVE for major repairs as a less busy place. Parts here alone may cost as much as a repair somewhere else. Do not listen to Brandon telling you it’s bad to go somewhere else. That is a fear tactic. They would not even negotiate with me, trying to charge me $800 in parts just for a control arm and axel. Perhaps it is not so bad when it is less busy, but i would be cautious about authorizing major repairs here. They make plenty ($135) on diagnostics fee. Some mechanics don’t even charge a diagnostics fee so I don’t have any guilt going anywhere else.

We came in on a busy Monday morning, with a flat tire, and we were on our way out of town. The staff was pleasant, COVID safe, they got us fixed and on our way quickly...very much appreciated.

I recently moved from Santa Cruz to San Jose. I still bring my car over the hill to Santa Cruz tire and auto every time I need service done. They are honest and they do great work.

I recently used this shop to replace my Front Carrier Assembly, something that has been much needed for a while. The cost to replace a carrier assembly on a 2010 Tundra is painful to say the least. I decided to go ahead and order a used part from a certified wrecker. Danny and his team then inspected and installed my part for a fraction of the original cost essentially making something that would have put my truck into the write off zone, now palatable. I use this truck every day and would be unable to work without it. Thanks to Santa Cruz Tire and Auto I was able find a effective, reliable and viable way to keep my truck on the road.

I brought my car here for a tune up which was supposed to cost around $400.00 which then increased to $650.00 with other work they wanted to do including changing my right battery terminal. when I picked up my car my car stereo no longer had sound. The person who worked on my car paid a car stereo business to inspect why my amp was no longer working and to basically say they could not definitively say that it was the fault of the mechanic. I offered to split the cost of fixing it with him and he declined stating they could not prove it was his fault. I had to pay $800 to get my stereo working again. I highly suggest you do not have electronic or battery work done here. Also, after the tune up my car is not running any better at all. Ill never come back.

Santa Cruz Tire & Auto for me is THE BEST place for all my truck issues. Best service, best price, great advice and absolutely best employees. Ive been coming here for 6 or so years....I will absolutely reccomend this place to everyone. I love and treasure an honest fair and fast reliable place.

Ive gone here to fix a flat, get new tires, and to get general info and/or quotes on weird car sounds/behavior on multiple vehicles. No matter who Ive talked to, Ive yet to be met with a sour disposition or negative attitude (even on a visit I could tell was super hectic with customers and calls.)The SC Tire and Auto crew are very mindful of Cali law and PROPER vehicle maintenance, so you know youre walking away with service done at a higher standard. Theyll definitely work with you as best they can, but refuse to take your money and slap on a cheap, unreliable fix.Going back soon for a pulley/belt overhaul in my second van, and I have zero qualms about how itll turn out, after how theyve handled my other vehicle repairs!

Tried to get a tire patched at this place, was told it couldn’t be patched due to there being two holes and being “1 millimeter apart”, thus the holes are too close to patch.Maybe their techs are inexperienced, maybe they’re lazy. This place ended up charging me $25 to put a spare tire on and tried to sell me a $200 tire.Called another shop, said they would do it no problem but they’d have to see the tire first to confirm. In 40 minutes the other shop had my tire patched, mounted, balanced and on the car.

Have you ever had a mechanic charge you less than the estimate? Well, it happened here. It wasnt even the money as much as it was the goodwill and showing me that theyre honest. And while I was waiting for my car, I saw various employees interacting with customers, and found the communication and service level to be very high. Strongly recommend!

They got me in and out and back on the road in a short amount of time. Health and safety protocols followed. Nice outdoor waiting area.

I had a slow leak in a tire. On arrival first thing Monday AM: taken in right away. Appreciate their COIVD precautions in place. When they didnt find anything, they explained it well and answered questions respectfully. When it became flat again, they quickly looked again and found the problem and decided not to charge me since it was the second try. Polite and efficient service in the neighborhood. No complaints, trust these folks.

Had a good first experience, they gave me a fair estimate on doing brakes on my truck after doing a thorough brake inspection. But, after saying my brake master cylinder was perfectly fine at inspection, somehow it suddenly needs replacing to the tune of $355 in excess of the original quote for brakes! I dont know what they did to ruin my master cylinder in the 4 days it was in their shop, but I sure wont be going back!

Really nice folks! Went in for a Smog and Oil Change and they were quick and efficient. Found a few other things they were willing to fix or replace but were not pushy about it when I said not today. Overall, great experience!

I promised these guys I would write a glow, as they are the BEST car service in the area and wonderful to work with. As a single woman I depend on my mechanics to be honest, truthful and helpful and as a retired RN the folks at Santa Cruz tire always are my advocates for safety as well as budgetary restriction. They are fun to hang out with waiting for the work to be done and if you are there at the right time, you might be able to get great enchaladas. Truly they are excellent in every way.

This is my second time into Santa Cruz Tire and Auto for repairs . First time I needed to replace valve cover gaskets on my 02 jeep and they were reasonably priced and got it done the same day .This last visit I had a noise that was really annoying from somewhere that I couldnt identify, they took it in the same day and starting checking, first time the mechanic drove it he couldnt hear it so he asked me to ride along ( Which I thought was good of them to offer ) this time he was able to hear it . He did some checking and didnt find anything specific but suggested disassembling and cleaning the brake pads and noticed some points that could be rubbing on the calipers and pads . He test drove it several times after cleaning and lubricating the brakes, i guess to make sure he solved the issue, I was impressed they actually seemed to care about fixing the problem instead of trying to sell me parts like some other shops I have had experience with !They also fixed a split hose I needed to have repaired as well, i mentioned it to them and it was taken care of while they had it on the rack .Anyway got the car back and all is good no more screeching noise going down the road .Great experience, Thank you !!

Excellent - had my 2000 Subaru smog tested here several times - always excellent prompt, friendly service without an appointment. Made the mistake of making an appointment at the Subaru dealership once - only to be told the guy who does the smog testing didnt show up. Drove here was served immediately and saved $. Just sold the car after having smog tested here - now Im living a car free lifestyle :-)

Performed a complex alignment for me, which involved working with the technical team to achieve a particular spec. I was very happy with the interaction. Had a minor issue at the end of the procedure, which was handled very professionally. Extremely good value for the service provided.

They were very nice and have fare prices. They didnt mess around trying to up sell me either. When I told them I was looking for the lowest price on tires thats exactly what I got. No games. The only thing I could complain about is the size of their waiting area, but the comfortable chairs and free coffee make up for the size.

Really a full service garage. For example, they replaced the AC in our 2000 Ford Taurus. They do alignments too. Cheaper than the dealerships and just as good for most repairs. They take time to explain and answer your questions. Whats not to like?

I’ve gone to this place many times but the last three times I’ve known what exactly my problem was and decided to just see what they. For example there was a small bolt on my turbo that feeds oil into my turbo. That was leaking and I knew that was my only problem. So they diagnosed it with that broken bolt, and because of it “ruined the whole turbo” and will need replacing. It didn’t. They wanted a whopping $3,000 Took it to Subaru of Santa Cruz and said it was just the bolt. $300. Second time needed aftermarket suspension installed. I installed the front two Coilovers myself and was wondering how much they would charge for the rear two. Keep in mind I installed the front two in 1 1/2 hours myself. With just hand tools. These guys said it would take them 6.5 hours for install @ 150 an hour. I instantly hung up and that was my last straw with that place. Don’t ever recommend. You will be tricked and charge a hefty price don’t recommend ever going there

So far so good. Had a drum brake/cylinder issue and they fixed it quickly and easily. They treated me (female) like I knew what I was talking about, or if I didnt, that at least I was interested in hearing the details. What is really awesome is that they were courteous and willing to help when I called regarding a leak from the same cylinder. Very good customer service.

This place is pricey plain and simple instead of just returning our car to us so we could have it looked at elsewhere they put another car in front of ours and told us it only be 30 mins were still here

As far as mechanics go, I haven’t had much experience around Santa Cruz, but these people are very friendly, very helpful, and very communicative. I appreciate their honesty and the importance they seem to put with every customer. Would definitely recommend to people living in Santa Cruz as well as traveling through.

We are a band on tour and had just got picked our truck up from the body shop after being rear ended in LA. We stopped into Santa Cruz Tire to get our tires aired up to the proper pressure on our way to pick up our trailer and while backing out of one of the bays I accidentally turned the wheel too sharply and toasted one of my front tires on the lift.. it was closing time for the shop and even though it was my bad they gave us a tire at cost for them and kept a guy on late to change the tire to get us on the road again.We spend our lives on the road so trust me when I tell you a shop like this is a rarity. Love this place. Took care of my truck smog, and gave my daughter a soccer ball. I will return with 2 more vehicles. I work in the automotive business and can have our shop smog for me for free but the way these guys treated me was awesome.

Where do I even begin here? Im a transplant from the east coast and recently bought a little miata here. I called into to SCTAA and Danny picked up the phone. I had an issue with my car because Im a pretty big car guy and noticed there was very little oil on my miatas dipstick that I just purchased and I thought that I was going crazy because the owner had recently told me the oil was changed 4k miles ago...turns out I wasnt crazy and the car had almost 0 oil. I stopped by a few minutes AFTER 5:30 PM when they were closed and Danny was still there smiling and happy to help me. Turns out, I wasnt crazy, the car had no oil and was pretty close to most likely detonating if I hadnt stopped by that day. Danny happily filled my oil up back to full to keep my going and didnt even ask for payment! Ill be bringing the car by to button up some minor issues to ensure that its healthy before I head back up to the east bay. The level of professionalism, courtesy and down right compassion goes to show that this place deserves more than 5 stars. I would be downright crazy to go anywhere else in Santa Cruz to get my car serviced/looked after, after this interaction. Thanks!

Prices are really high if you dont believe me you can go ahead and take your car.I took my car just for inspection because my car was making a noise they told me they will check it and run the scanner.Call me 1 hour later and told me that my car need a lot of parts and it was better to sell it.I cant believe that they charged me $149 to do the inspection so ridiculous I have the receipt here.

Didnt buy tires there but my dog jumped out of my rv window one day and made it straight to the office and made herself right at home enjoying the AC while I frantically searched everywhere ( she hated the rv so I sold it ) The staff was so kind and after 20 minutes took my girl for a walk to help try and find me as I stood accross the street sobbing thinking Id never see her again but the employees were very kind and I am very grateful to them. I highly recommend any business that goes that far for a stray dog who just squatted their office.

I was very impressed by this companies helpfulness and honesty. I was traveling and had to have a tire replaced in the middle of the night by the people that towed me because my car does not have a spare. They said I might have to have it replaced when I got home because it was not the same as the other 3. I called ahead and SC Tire ordered a tire that matched the original tires (only 11K) miles on them. I had a light that said check tire pressure from the time that they made the change. When I came in to have the new matching tire on, the fellow helping me said I might not need it but that he needed to first see why the light was coming on. He came back a few minutes later saying the tire the tow company put on it was fine and they had reset my sensor. It had only needed a reset. I asked how much I owned him and they said no charge! I was very impressed!

Whats worse than driving an old beater? Thats right, throwing all kinds of money at it when it breaks bad. Thankfully, we have Santa Cruz Tire and Auto to ease our troubled minds. Took my 94 Toyota to another establishment (sorry, sorry) for a smog check. Emissions were fine, but the mechanic claimed that my cat converter had been modified and didnt have the proper CARB stamp. Failure? Phooey! SCTA saw right away (thanks to Carfax) that the cat was changed out legally in 2004, five years before any of the clean air laws went into effect. Bottom line: passed smog at SCT&A, thus saving me several hundred dollars for an unneeded cat replacement. Lesson: Dont drive a beater. But if you must, keep SCT&As # handy. Friendly, helpful, convenient.
