We called Paul at 7pm and he was still in his shop. We were on a road trip and had our camper car, our brakes stopped working and we had no where to stay. Paul told us to come by, he will take a look and we could camp out by his shop for no charge. He ordered our brake pads and they were there bright and early the next morning. He arrived the next morning just like he said he would and fixed our brakes asap. He let us watch what he was doing, ask questions, and learn a bit more about the car. He was kind, generous and friendly. He really helped us out in a time of trouble. He did not over charge us and was completely honest about what we needed and what we didnt need. If Im ever stuck in Santa Cruz again. I know who to call
For years Paul at Classic Hoinda has provided me nothing but straight honest and affordable services. He knows more than just Hondas. I highly recommend him as a professional and a great human being :-) Thanks, Paul!
This companies explanation to me about why they could not help me had to do with the fact that I showed up at their location after a personal invitation, but did not call first. I had no expectations other than to let them know that I had my check engine light go on and had it reset in case it was a sensor on my seatbelt that it had come on again . I first met Paul the owner /mechanic of classic Honda when I was at the felp Street spiritual fair in Santa Cruz. He offered me his card when he saw that I was getting into a nice Honda .He did not call me after I left two or messages and told him that I would be free the following afternoon and would like to come over. I had called several other shops and found that they were booked up until next week. I was able to get the problem isolated for free with a computer readout of the need to change the vapor sensor. Paul told me that it was a complicated thing and he wasnt up for the job . I ordered the OEM part from the dealer and took it to another mechanic who had the job done in less than 15 minutes and charged me $25. I needed to have suspension done all around on the Honda as it had never been done since it was new.I called Paul and I asked him if he could give me a written quote . it seems that he did not like being asked to give a written quote before the work was done. When I asked him why, he told me that he was retiring in a year and only wanted certain kinds of jobs. I asked him if he could be more specific and he told me that he wanted jobs where he could make the most money. He specially did not like it that I had come by the shop at any time without calling in advance, even though I had no idea that that was his protocol and he did not make it clear to me, until after the first time I stopped by. This shop is full of trash oil and is a disorganized mess that he sleeps in.I had no idea when he approached me and handed me a legitimate looking classic Honda auto repair card that any of this was the case I assume that he had hoped that he could take financial advantage of me and that when that did not appear to be the case, he lost interest, he said he did not like it that I was getting second opinions. I advise women to stay away from this place I think that he has a pattern of searching out for those that may be gullible and taking advantage of them . There is nothing in or around this location that suggest any kind of professional decorum or respect .
