What a great little shop. Full of unique gifts and Santa Barbara mementos. All price points here and some great stuff. Went there with my wife last week and found some great gifts for family that will be visiting us over the holidays. The kind of things you cant find at the online behemoth that delivers regularly to our house these days. Locally owned shop. Met the owner who packaged up our purchase. We need more of this on State Street and the only way to make it happen is to start supporting these local businesses more often instead of opting for the convenience of my computer! Highly recommend.

Ive only been to Charis once but I already cant wait to return! They have a great selection of feminist, nutritional, and spiritual literature as well as more general fiction, children books and more. They also have hilarious bumper stickers and carry many handmade items from local Santa Barbara artists such as candles, chocolates and knitted knick knacks. They also hold writing and discussion groups on various topics. Its a great neighborhood place you should definitely check out.

Ill have to disagree with the negative review regarding the customer service in the clothing side of the shop. I had an excellent experience, with the clerks helping me track down the sizes I need for various items, answering questions regarding where a number of these items were manufactured/sourced, and placing an order for items that they didnt have in stock. Loved the selection of Made in US items as well. Wish there were more stores like this locally.

Really friendly and helpful staff and a great place to get locally made Santa Barbara apparel. The sugar plums at the register are delicious as well; if my foot rots off before the end of the year Ill know why. Be sure to check out both stores (you have to go outside. I know, how hard is it to make a hole, right? Ive made two in my room this month and those were on accident) because they have totally different items on both sides. Be sure to stop by if youre ever on State Street.

Carefully curated products that make great gifts. However its a bit overpriced. I found many of the items on Amazon for 30% lower than at the store. They do have some exclusive products that you cant find Anywhere else

Owner was so friendly and gave us great information about the art and gifts on offer there. By far my favorite shopping spot in Santa Barbara. Bought several gifts there. Well be back!

Cute shop with great souvenirs. I wanted to buy everything. Great for small gifts that are not gimmicky.

They amazing and beautiful items. However, they have terrible customer service (in their new clothing-based shop). No one greets you or attempts to sell.

Great selection of clothes made in a sustainable way. T-shirts are affordable at $35 but most everything else is hard to manage priced $200-300.

Less than 10 days after our communities worst disaster in history, this business owner has found time to collect attorneys and sue a water district and SOCAL Edison for a fire that caused a massive mudflow killing over 20 people and causing unquantifiable damages to our local economy and community. In this suit there are complaints starting with Ash from a fire causing our community to not be accessible or safe for tourism. (WE LIVE IN AN AREA THAT CHAPARRAL NEEDS TO BURN TO CONTINUE THE CYCLE OF LIFE) ending with a ducting system that at most could have dumped 9 million gallons total in 4 different locations through a pipe VS the act of nature that dropped likely 10x that that night. I have never done business here but I think its pertinent to anyone considering where they want to spend their dollar and who it is going to. FEMA is not enough for them They need to sue our communities resources in a time of need. Classy.

This is a great, locally owned gift shop - I go here when Italian Pottery Outlet doesnt have what Im looking for! :)

I felt mistreated because of my ethnicity. I was looking around and was interested in printed wood. I asked the lady in the counter if I could have custom ones. She literally said with an annoyed look on her face, No, we only sell whats there. Cmon youre *Squints her eyes (meaning asian)* you are smart.I hope that lady, learns to get along with others. She makes the store absolutely disgusting to be in.

Hands down one of the best shops I have ever been in. They have such a great selection of gifts and household trinkets and the music they play is always unique and wonderful. I could honestly spend hours in here just looking around.
