Purchased a kiln shelf to serve as my pizza oven floor. It arrived very quickly and in flawless condition. Plus my 20 x 20 x 3/4 shelf cost about 25% of a similarly sized pizza stone on Amazon. Two thumbs WAY up!

Customer service is meh at best, and it really depends on who you work with. I was heavily discouraged from purchasing raw materials to make my own slip, and was pushed towards purchasing pre-made underglazes instead. I have over 25 years experience in working with clay and the gentleman who helped me, was extremely condescending. They were out of stock of many basic raw materials, not sure if thats because of the pandemic reopening or not. They have lots of tools, a fairly good selection of glazes and underglazes, but quite honestly, for the drive from LA, not worth it. Their prices are comparable to many online and more local shops.

Today I visited the store that per their web page is supposed to be open from 9 to 4, Monday thru Friday, at 12pm I parked my car and opened the door which was OPEN, (I was wearing N95 MASK) and was trying to ask if youare open?? before I finish my sentence someone yells like I am a criminal and says GO BACK TO YOUR CAR, GO BACK TO YOUR CAR. That was so ugly and awkward that the other lady next to her told me you can order calling our number and if it is small we will bring it to your car. I was shaking and went back to my car, after 10 minutes, calming myself, ordered three little items, as I had to, being in the middle of glazing, and left.I have been going there for many many years to support a local art supply store, BUT NO MORE. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO AARDVARK.

You can buy stuff here. However, if you want to use their facilities, forget it, unless you sign up for their classes. When I showed up, there were two other shoppers. Otherwise, the place was empty. Staff was satisfactory, but couldnt give me any info about classes.

Ive been a customer of Aardvark for over 10 years. When I lived in so cal, I took many wheel throwing classes with Robert the zen master. He was the best teacher I ever took a class with.The staff that runs the retail store are all knowledgeable and helpful. Steve, Robert and Corey have always been great in explaining the different clays and glazes.The facility is top notch, their cone 10 house glazes are stable and have beautiful effects when you use 2 or 3 on the same piece. The gas kiln is huge and their cycle time is pretty quick for classes.I wholeheartedly recommend Aardvark for classes, equipment, tools, clay and glazes. If you own your own kiln and need help fixing or trouble shooting, Steve Davis is know nationally as an expert in kilns and firing.

Great ceramics shop in Orange County. My mother has done ceramics my whole life and I used to love coming here as a kid. As a young adult I took a wheel throwing class to polish up on the skills before spending a summer teaching pottery to Boy Scouts. The class was great, their product selection is great, the staff is knowledgeable, and theyre close to the 55 freeway.

Excellent ceramic art equipment supplier. Their prices are reasonable and their service friendly. The only downside to Aardvark is that their bags of clay ( particularly Bee mix cone 5) have a tendacy to be too moist for wheel throwing, and have to be wedged into a usable state. Otherwise they are great!

UNRELIABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE OVER THE PHONE. The store offers great supplies and good variety of clay and glaze materials in person. The friendly staff is knowledgeable in the store. However, the customer service is lacks on large phone orders. I waited weeks on a large order of clay to be delivered--a bit long to wait. The first day it was delivered, more than half the clay had been misplaced. It took another 3 weeks, and 2 more deliveries to get all the clay, and still, 2 boxes are missing. When the clay is delivered, the truck driver makes no effort to call me to let me know the clay is there, they just dump it with any random person who happens to be nearby and is willing to sign for it. This means that clay can get stolen and that I dont get to check that things are in order. I am frustrated with this time and again. With each delivery, I ask them to call me in advance to tell me when things are going to be delivered--they say they will. They dont call me. They dont even notify me the day before to be sure Im around. It takes me multiple calls each week to get answers on simple things such as a delivery date, and even then, they never call back. They have a bad habit of not communicating and thinking its okay. Im frustrated!!! Aardvark has so many great things, but professional, standard delivery practices are not included.

Great People, great products.This is my my my clay supply store. Back off theres not enough to go around. I have been only doing clay work since Jan 2018 but, these people have gone way out of their way to help me on my journey.I now have an unquenchable thirst for clay tools and knowledge. Luckily they have books, classes and sage advice for noobs like me. I wish I could recall everyones name but as I approach 50 stuff escapes me.Im at the point where Im ready to buy clay by the palette. Theyre also going to be my source for raw materials since I have to make my glazes for my new Oxidation kilns.Look Out Aardvark! Youre going to need to start an account for my new raw materials phase in my clay shenanigans.Seriously this is the place for everything clay, kilns, tools, glass and information.

Asian girl acted like I was imposing on her and she just wanted me out of there. She was exasperated with me after my first question. She should not be in front of people/customers. I was wondering if I should say something about her rudeness but I thought our exchange would get better..it didnt. Nice place good product, she was a bad representative of the company.

If you work with ceramics, this is THE place to go. The have a full selection of clay, glazes, tools, classes and books. However, the most important thing is that they are always willing to answer questions.I use sculptural clays and I travel for an hour to Aardvark to buy theirs. I dont know any other place in the LA area who carried them. They do ship and have an active web site.Also, this may not be important to you but they invited my dog, who was tied up outside, to come into the store.

I tried to call and ask for a bit more information on the heavy grog 10x18, since there’s no picture. I just wanted an approximation of the size of the largest pieces in the mix and the color, since I mix it into my clay so that it shows through. Instead I got a rude answer mansplanning why he couldn’t tell me, saying I should just order a pound of it to see. Well I’m in nyc and on a tight budget and if I had to ship a lb of every material to see Id be broke. I was polite through entire conversation and he was just so so rude. It wasn’t a hard question, my guess he had no idea what on earth it looked like and was too lazy to go and check. That’s pretty messed up. I’m just trying to get some more information. What is wrong with you?

Aardvark has an extremely large competitor in Laguna Clay and they will never see my business. Rick and the entire staff are absolutely tremendous and have always worked very hard to give us what we need to make ceramic art, when we need it and at the best cost available on the market at that time, includes equipment and raw materials.
