I had a tricky situation where the new unit couldn’t fit in the place if the old one, but it was no problem for Comfort First! Gary was able to widen the doorway to my closet and he did such a beautiful job rebuilding the moulding and hanging a new door. I’m very happy with the high quality of work both he and Andy provided for this installation.

The people working for this company were all a pleasure to deal with, and they did a great job. The bid was competitive, with items included that were not included in other bids. The work was done really well: the two guys showed up on time, did a careful removal of the old air handler and condenser unit, and expertly installed the new air handler and condenser. They worked continually until the job was done, and cleaned up carefully after themselves. All three men —the estimator and the two installers— were very polite and professional, and were a pleasure to deal with. I was very happy with the entire process.

The most professional heating and air company Ive ever dealt with.

Comfort First was assigned to me by my home warranty. At first I was dismayed that they couldn’t get to me for a week. (Aren’t I the only one whose AC broke down in July?). When the day came, they actually were able to come early due to a cancellation. They got it fixed, cleaned up and answered all of my numerous questions in under an hour. I’ll be calling them for my annual AC and furnace check ups.

Technician, Mr. Tyler Staples, was very professional and thorough. This has been a great experience for my family and I. That is, we have been here in NC for a little over 1.5 years and have done some remodeling work with some bad experiences.... The condenser fan blade broke in our unit and our techs were able to locate and express the part to their facility so it could be installed the next day. We were previously told by another hvac company that all of our units parts were obsolete so we appreciate their honest business. They came earlier than expected and spent less than 30mins on the repair. Quick, professional and knowledgeable. Would definitely recommend and use again.

The technicians were great. However, it was Shelly who was the rock star. For three weeks, we have been waiting on a part. Each week, Shelly called with a detailed update on status of the necessary part. While three weeks without heat in the coldest part of the year is no fun, Shelly’s updates made it bearable. She made us feel as though we were important, and that Comfort First really did put our “comfort first” although the matter was out of its hands. Comfort First installed a whole house stand-by generator for us and we were completely pleased. I’m apparently difficult to work for because I expect people to be entirely professional and knowledgeable, and I speak up if they are not. The Comfort First folks are most professional: punctual, reliable, knowledgeable, thorough and courteous. They went above and beyond the call of duty several times, helping out with things that were needed but not necessarily part of the contract. With expertise born of long experience they navigated the torturous process with the power company, which is apparently part of the deal in this area. They communicated clearly and knowledgeably throughout the process. They are adamant that the job is not done until everything is completely right and working well. In short, the Comfort First people are first class in every way and I highly recommend them for any work in their field. They are definitely our HVAC company from now on.

These people are both professional and personable, which is a rare quality nowadays. I also have a whole house generator I purchased in July which my wife was opposed to me buying, but after it did such an awesome job during the storm she too is bragging about it to our friends and family. Total peace of mind is what we have with our whole house generator and that’s priceless.

--Update to the review below--I do want to commend Comfort First for quickly getting in touch and offering a waived diagnostic fee for a visit. I still decided to go with a second opinion.But the willingness to jump on the issue and get someone out quickly is worthy of some consideration, and I have updated the score to reflect that. But all things being equal, I would still rather not be in this situation in the first place.---------------------------------Our system, originally installed by Comfort First, is four years old, and has had its air handler refuse to move air, or the compressor turn on recently (the thermostat relay clicks, but the fan does not move air through to the vents, and the compressor does not turn on). The first time this happened, the helpful technician explained that the p-trap was not draining. He also helpfully advised to get a wet-vac to suck out the p-trap to get it flowing again next time to avoid a service call.That was in August. Again, the air-handler will not move air and the compressor will not come on. I purchased a wet vac to attempt to get it open again, but to no avail. So now Im going to pay for another service call.More concerning is that when I went to the exterior wall, the p-trap line that was held in by a glob of what looked like silicone was completely free of the wall and sliding out a foot.Im also concerned about the quality of the initial install, given that Im having repeated problems in just a short amount of time. For that reason, I cannot in good conscience recommend Comfort First.

Billy was great! He quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the part, and came first thing the morning after it was delivered, in the cold rain, so we wouldnt go the weekend without heat. He even killed a baby snake he saw, knowing we have small children. Highly recommended!

My old unit was 20+ years old. Comfort First jumped through hoops trying to find replacement parts... They kept us informed about everywhere they looked... When it became obvious that they exhausted all avenues, Renee came to our house and performed the initial inspection and measurements for our new unit. She was a pleasure to work with and answered all of our questions in laymans terms. On installation day, the team showed up exactly when they said they would... They were very nice to be around. Funny and personable. They finished the job a day early, and when they left, you wouldnt have known they were here at all! Not a scrap of tape, cardboard, styrofoam... Nothing!When my 2nd floor unit finally dies, Comfort First will be my first call!

Joel supervised and ensured the safe installation of a Briggs & Stratton Whole House Backup Generator at my residence. It was clear from our first meeting that he had an excellent understanding of the equipment and the roles/responsibilities of all the technicians that would be required for the installation. Joel also consistently communicated effectively to make certain that we were comfortable with every phase of the project.

We had new name brand heating, ventilation, and air conditioning installed on our two-story home and we also changed out some less than functional ductwork. Comfort First Heating and Cooling provided a detailed room by room analysis to verify the specific system specifications. They provided optional pricing which was extremely competitive and or less expensive than the other four vendors we met with. The crew arrived and immediately started to work on removing the old system and installing the new system. The work was done extremely efficiently and effectively. I have seldom seen work ethics that were demonstrated by this crew from other professionals. They had us up and running for the first floor on the first day. The second system was installed the very next day. The complete system was installed in two days total. The crew were on time each day, very professional and answered all my questions and concerns. I would highly recommend First Comfort to provide an end-to-end HVAC system or to repair and maintain existing systems.

YESSSS---absolutely recommend! Our technician was in and out quickly (he had the part in his truck) he was kind and courteous and respectful of our time. I absolutely recommend this company and will use them for future issues.

Worst experience ever! Honestly I dont want to even give 1 star! Terrible! Terrible! Terrible! The dont know how to fix the ac at all. Back in summer, they were sent in by my home warranty company, the technician first told me, the AC needs refrigerant, which would be $90/ pound (not covered by warranty) and I need two pounds. The price is already higher than the market price but since he is here and I said OK. And then he started to filling the refrigerant and all of sudden he told me that it is not because of the refrigerant cause the ac is still not working, must be some parts get clogged. And he told me, you do not need any refrigerant, all we need is to order some parts, you do not have to pay anything. After he left for about half an hour, comfort first called me, said we will go ahead order parts for you, and in addition, we need 7 lbs of freon. Guys, you are not mistaken, yes, the said 7 lbs of freon, and I have to pay for it, it is $500 out of pocket. Then I started to question them, why 7 lbs of freon? The said in case during changing the parts, freon will leak... You see how ridiculous and how greedy they are? So in case if it leak, then it is my responsibility for freon, and not 1 or 2 lbs, they asked me to pay for 7 lbs... I am speechless. I immediately called my home warranty said I need a second opinion, so the 2nd company fixed my problem with no extra charge, and they concluded it is not the parts the 1st company mentioned. That is not where the problem is. So I really feel I made the right decision to change company, if I pay that ridiculous 7 lbs of freon, my problem will not be resolved. So stay away from this company, they are not professional or ethical to do what they should do.

He fixed the problem with my air conditioner quickly, and then made some excellent recommendations for the future, I did not try to pressure me into having any further repairs done at this time. I appreciate the fact that he put my needs first and gave me good advice while doing a very professional job.

Terrible experience. First, they called to offer me a maintenance special: $50 for a check and cleaning. I was NEVER told that it was 50 dollars PER unit....until the service was already completed and I was asked to pay. They also never called to tell me they were on the way, when i was specifically told they would. While he was here, the service man turned down our upstairs AC so much that it frosted over and stopped working. In the middle of summer. My son ended up sick because he got overheated. My husband had to defrost the unit himself the next day. We then ended having a different company come out to check our downstairs unit again because we kept getting a musty smell every time it turned on. They did a proper inspection and showed us that, although the outside of the unit had been cleaned off, the comfort first serviceman never cleaned the inside where a fungus had started to grow (hence the smell). We will never go back to comfort first. Complete waste of time and money.

Called Comfort First for a second opinion after the original company that installed the unit responded to my Heat not working last week, and told me without fixing anything that it would cost me $1250-$4000 to repair the problem, the unit is just over 4yrs old, and this was the only problem Ive encountered since it was installed. They also told me it probable needs Freon, the company Im referring to starts with an A and ends with an S, well known through out the Triangle/Raleigh area. The service tech from Comfort First (Ben) checked the outside Heat Pump and the Furnace under my crawl space and then looked at the thermostat inside my house and found out the Dealers setting wasnt set up as a complete working kit, meaning the outside Heat Pump wasnt set up to also run the Auxiliary heat pump underneath my house when the outside temps got cold. Ben told me that my Freon was a little low so I asked out much and decided to go ahead and get it recharged. All for a total $438.00, and as of this posting Im still enjoying a warm toasty house went needed. Awesome job, they offered quick, friendly service and delivered. Definitely +5 stars
