This place is always so helpful. They always carry such obscure electronic parts and cords, that you can never find anywhere else. They have never let me down. Nice folks too.
Old style electronics shop. Piles of components, cables of all types and specs, more stuff than you could catalog in a month. Great people. HIGHLY recommended.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff as well as a helpfully generous return policy thats very helpful for projects.
Great selection and great customer service. They are always friendly and super helpful in showing me where to find stuff, explaining how it works, helping me choose the exact right part, etc. They dont mind taking a few moments to answer all my questions.
Prices are a bit high for some items but they do have a very wide selection, helpful staff.
Great selection, and especially great service
It will be a sad day if this place ever closes
Avoid at all costs if ordering online, especially internationally. I ordered some cables and paid a hefty amount for both the product and shipping. However, the cables I received were not the ones shown on the website as the manufacturer had apparently changed the cables without Electronics Plus knowing. When this issue was brought up with Electronics Plus, I was told that I would have to pay over $40 in postage for returning the wrong cables, and for shipping the replacements. According to staff, “the only other option is where they lose money.” Then I was basically told to eat the cost of the cables and to do my best at making the wrong cables work for my purposes. Is this how business works? Electronics Plus is responsible for the accuracy of their products on their website. If you’re going to offer international shipping then shouldn’t you accept the risks of potentially sending wrong products? Why am I being punished for a mistake that I had no control over? Absolutely terrible experience and will be making sure that others hear about it.Top photo is what I ordered from their website, bottom photo is what I received.
Great store! The sales staff are exceptionally helpful and informative. They have an enormous selection of vintage electronics here. It is definitely worth comming in for a visit.
Wonderful customer service. My vision is going so I have to tell the guys what it looks like and Then They go find it for men
Friendly and helpful staff.
This store has more than electronics. J light bulbs (there are quite a few, I have seen them only on new modern style, nice lamps, large and small), they carry these. Of course these are electronic. But they have many things. Not a hardware store (I happen to love hardware stores). The best part is if they dont have it, they will help you where to find it. Very helpful staff. If something breaks, this may be where you can find the parts or is it able to be fixed.
The staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, yet allowed me to browse around for what Id like unencumbered. Tons of electronic components. A great and better alternative to the shut down RadioShack. Its what it should have been.
Now that Radio Shack is gone, they are the only game in town. And I am grateful. Theyre quite helpful when it comes to the details
I feel so grateful that a store like this is still around, a rarity in this online age. What a gift. I love being able to handle and inspect the materials I use in my projects, and now and again I stumble upon a part that i didnt know existed that changes my design. I buy from these guys when I could go online so that they continue to exist...like the local bookstores and cafes that will cease to be if we dont vote for them with our shopping $. Thanks Electronics Plus!
As the last parts store in Marin, these guys get away with unbelievably high markups. I’ve seen items priced more than DOUBLE what they cost at other retailers, let alone online. It’s clear that the owners here have little interest in moving their products, as I’ve seen things stay on the shelves for nearly 10 years. Like the record store and other boutique businesses on 4th street, Electronics Plus is not so much a place for everyday hobbyists, but rather one for rich collectors nostalgic for the days of transistor radio kits.
One of my favorite stores. The selection is huge, the people are very helpful. The place to go for all sorts of tools and supplies.
Learned resistor color code at the counter here in 1969 or so.
Amazing electronic shop,in an era when most are gone. Worth the trip.
If youre looking for a FRYS Electronics or a Radio Shack for specific things and you dont want to buy at Best Buy, come here! I was like a kid in a candy store. The prices on items are either too expensive or too good of a deal. In my case, I found the exact adapter that I needed so I decided to buy two in case I ever lost one. What an amazing store!
The best (most complete) electronic store in the Bay Area!
Old hard to find stuff. Modern stuff too! Staff is extremely knowledgeable! Great little electronics store.
Amazing old school electronics store. This place is like a museum, even their tills are old terminals with amber monochrome screens. The selection is amazing. Everything from turntables, to old electronics magazines, to electronic doodads, landline phones, metal tapes, oscilloscopes, speaker wire, weird old gadgets (like things that mount to your CRT monitor [LOL!]), floppies, and more! Definitely worth going out of your way to check out if youre into old technology. I know Ill be returning.
Fantastic collection of electronic equipment. Friendly well informed people answering questions and giving suggestions. Im glad this place is here. Parking may be a problem at times, but thats San Rafael.
If you are looking for parts, old gear or any electronics related supplies - this is the place. Its old and dusty - but thats the charm. I came in looking for a battery powered LED string for a build - they had it no problem.
Awesome, they had the bud box and momentary switches I was seeking.RadioShack is gone, this store is much much better.....
This place is a wonderful throw back to a different era. In my youth I would spend hours and my spare bucks wandering the rows and buying electronic widgets and parts from places like Sparkys and Arbuckles Electronics in Fresno. There would be parts you know that hadnt been touched in years in those bins but they sparked my imagination on things I could build. Electronics Plus is just this sort of place. Great store to get lost in.
If I have a difficult electrical problem they help. Great service and knowledge.
Polite and knowledgable salesman, also really patient with all of my random questionsThis is a good place to be if you want help getting through a variety of projects
Had to buy some Ferric Chloride online because nowhere in my area sells it anymore. Not only did they have exactly what I needed, they they were quick with contacting me about shipping issues, they handled those issues and I received my product in just one business day.Couldnt be happier.
Eclectic, non-chain electronics parts store. I love finding a reason to visit!
I am one of the few people who still fix things when they break. When the 10 cent parts break on $500 appliances and musical instuments, I can usually find replacements here. They actually only charged me only 10 cents for a replacement nut for a potentiometer the last time I was there. There is no way they can stay in business with my meager purchases, but I am so happy that they are in business.
With a insightful/ helpful host of knoewledgabe employees alongside an impressive inventory, this store has definitely proven it amazing reliability.
People very helpful and store well stocked.
The greatest electronic hobby place.
Electronics Plus is a nice store, but its appeal may be diminishing. Its nice to be able to walk into a brick-and-mortar store to buy LEDs and Diodes, but it may not appeal to those who are either knowledgeable about what they want, or can wait two days to get the parts they need from Amazon or DigiKey/Mouser.This store has been here for a while. It was nice to browse, but it reminded me of a ham radio store. Old men that looked like they didnt want any dern kids in there looking for them newfangled Arduinos. They were friendly enough when I went to checkout, but were genuinely shocked when I said Id heard of them via Word of Mouth.Id summarize as - This place was absolutely the bees knees 20 years ago. Its like a super RadioShack before it became RadioSprint. They are knowledgeable, and you can tell that they are actually interested in electronics. If you need something in a pinch, chances are they have it. If you can wait a few days, you may prefer getting it online.
Great local resource. It would be better if they carried more SMD components, modules, etc. like you might find on Sparkfun or Adafruit. A lot of their inventory is pretty dated. Still, great to have them nearby!
Ok service
If you need a local source for electronic parts in Marin County, this is the place to go. Extensive inventory and knowledgeable staff.
Fantastic service, know-how and help- love this place!
I went into the store last week Friday, after calling to speak to someone the day before. The USB port on my external hard drive had broken off the mother board. The person I spoke to on the phone was very friendly and personable and knew exactly what was needed to resolve the issue. He gave me instructions to bring the external hard drive with me so he could match up either a SATA or IDE cable. Friday, 4/8/16, I walk into the store. There was a man standing at the counter so I came through the entrance rail and stood there waiting for him to acknowledge me. He wasnt doing anything in particular. He looked up at me a couple times and finally said, I guess since your just standing there you need some help? I explained my situation and he said, well the cables are down this aisle, as he pointed in a direction. I asked him which cable didnI need and he said, I dont know...but the cables are down here, now walking me to the aisle and pointing to a row of cables that I clearly dont know what I needed. So I asked, are you unable to assist me with what I am looking for because it seems that I am bothering you. He walked away and another guy came over to the aisle where I was standing. I explained it to him, and he was just as stand of fish as the first guy. So, I walked away from him because I was ready to cuss because it was apparent they werent trying to help me. There was a third guy in the back helping someone else. I waited until I could ask him and he knew exactly what I needed, went right to the front, got it and I was on my way. However, I was not able to retrieve the data from my drive.Today, 4/13/16, I return and a guy (later identified as Bill) was at the counter. He was putting a cord into a plastic bag and said, someone will be with you shortly. As I waited, I set the box on the counter. He walked over, grabbed the box, and proceeded to process the refund. He asked me for the card I used to make the purchase, which I handed him. He completed the transaction, handed me the receipt to sign. I said thank you, as I was in disbelief that this man had not greeted, said hello, or even asked me a question about the reason for the return.I inquired about who owns the establishment and was told Abner Family. I asked who specifically, was given the name Mark and Jay Abner. I asked him if there was any reason why the customer service was so horrible and he acted as if he didnt understand my concern. I explained that he never spoke, never engaged me, didnt inquire about why I was making the return. He said, I remembered you from last week. I asked what did that mean? That was last week, but you dont know why I came in today. You never asked. I asked him his name, he said Bill. I asked his last name, he said none of your business. I asked him did you say none of my business and he responded yes! I walked out in disbelief!
The guy on the phone is was clueless and extremely stubborn. Good thing I didnt waste my time going into the store...
Super helpful, even when you cant pronounce what your looking for.
The electronics store that has everything! And knowlegdeabe staff who can help you figure things out. Please support this neighborhood gem!
Places like this barely exist anymore. Like an OG RadioShack
They should have anything youre looking for. Just be prepared to pay a 500% markup.
