He is passionate yet very chill and knowledgeable.As a new driver buying my first car, he has been constantly giving me all sorts of useful tips (not only on buying cars) and helped me making educated choices. Just to list a few facts that impressed me a lot:- When communicating through email, he almost always respond within hours if not minutes, even late at night!- During the test drive, he guided me through a lot of different scenarios, including some rather extreme conditions like panic stops, which Ive never done with other dealers, but is really crucial for test drives. Firstly I wanted to thank David, from service department because he is very knowledgeable about what hes offering. I had very specific, very detailing questions about my car and he answered all of my questions. I want to say that Nestor is a really good person, he is really nice and gave us good information about the car.After we decided to buy the car, we spent time with Larry (I am not sure about the name, but is the person in charge of credit), I don’t like him, because he was really insistent about an insurance to do the oil change, he told us that only will be 5 dollars more every month, we accepted. But after we reviewed our contract we detect what he increased the months of payments, at the beginning we agreed that will be 60 months, after the service that he offered to us, will be 63, but he never told us that.At the moment we didn’t check every step, because we spent almost 4 hours, waiting for the credit approval and signed documents, but I Feel that is unfair that he didn’t tell us anything about that 3 extra months.I write this so that the people who are going to buy are attentive. maybe it is not a lot of money, but it is fair that they tell you everything that it really is.

My car alarm on my 2012 Mazda 3 goes off without warning, often in the middle of the night. David, the Manager of the Service Department, was so kind and helpful. He spent half an hour trying to assess what was causing this problem. He oiled all 6 door latches, and advised me that the dealership where I purchased this car (not Putnam Mazda) used an aftermarket security system, which was causing the problem. He told me what to do from this point on and charged me nothing for his time and expertise. If I ever buy another Mazda, it will be at Putnam. The level of service and courtesy shown by David is rare these days. I am very appreciative. Thank you so much.

Its a stressful time right now to be buying a car. Covid-19 and the chip shortage are conspiring against you.First things first: this dealership (and all the Putnam dealerships next to it) take Covid-19 seriously. Everyone wears masks, indoor or outdoor, and they ask you to test drive vehicles by yourself instead of sitting in the passenger seat with you. This really limits their ability to show you the features of the car, so keep in mind that itll take a little longer to understand the car than in normal times.My husband and I wanted a crossover, and had narrowed our search down to a few cars which we test drove. Our CX-30 ended up being the favorite which we test drove, but the easy, non-pushy sales here were a big plus for us. We worked with Dominic Chang. He was patient and informative, and encouraged us to sleep on multiple decisions about what would really be best for us. I also appreciated his frankness -- he wasnt afraid to tell us he thought we were making a bit of a rash choice buying an all-black car! You get the feeling he really cares about helping customers find a car their lifestyle and preferences fit with. We also ended up only finishing our paperwork for sale past when the dealership closes at 7pm, and he stayed an extra hour on a Sunday night to explain all the car features.Larry, our finance manager, was sharp and efficient. Both he and Dominic were transparent as they filled out our paperwork -- no surprise fees, and they negotiated the car price with me up front, willingly talking the whole number instead of only the monthly payment. We had shortlisted 2 models online, and went to the nearest Mazda showroom. It was a really great and smooth experience going through the car, all its features and test driving the CX-5 with Duchic. He then got us a great offer on the car, especially during this price hike due to chip shortage (Its a scary real thing!). This review is to the service experience. I received a mail and email reminder for the upcoming service appointment. I called and try to reschedule, but they said they dont have the appointment in the system which I have to reschedule. The same issue happened twice before where I scheduled the appointment, no calls, no emails, and when I called back to confirm, they said its not in the system. All the staff are kind and nice but I do not know what computer system they are using to schedule the appointment, but its overall not a very pleasant experience.

Where did the great reviews come from? So coming in for a test drive was pleasant and easy. Car buying is ultimately up to the consumer. I decided a Mazda was not for me. After Ion helped me, he was upset I didnt want to purchase a car. He was rude via text. I attached a screenshot of our convo. I sent a comment to the dealership regarding Ions severe lack of customer service. Garys reply was equally unprofessional. Pass. Avoid. Deal with genuinely nice sales people elsewhere.

The Parts Department is terrible, rude, unfriendly, not knowledgeable employees..I bough my CX-9 brand new here at this Putnam Mazda dealership in 2010 in Burlingame. I was and I still am very happy with the car.Years later, when time came to buy parts they ( this Putnam Mazda dealership in Burlingame ) dont even want to make an effort to help, conversations with them are always very unfriendly, it is close to impossible to find any part and if you do, prepare to pay the steepest price around.. I tried to call them a number of times for parts over the years but they are rude and know nothing almost every single time.. Mazda vehicles are great, I love them, but this dealership is full of snobs and they are only interested in selling you the car, after that you mean nothing to them.. This Mazda dealership is definitely one of the examples of why people might prefer to buy parts online..I do not recommend going to Putnam Mazda of Burlingame, take your money somewhere else!

John was absolutely great, went out of his way to help me even coming in on his day off, also dealt with my multiple visits and test drives. Konstantin and Ion were great! We had our heart set on a CX-5 and called every single Mazda dealership in the Bay Area, and these guys gave us the best deal. There was no pressure, no games, no sales gimmicks, no song and dance. Just the best price and an easy experience. Theres closer Mazda service places to our home, but Ill probably bring our car back for its routine maintenance here just because of how pleasant our experience was.

We worked with Domenic to purchase a Mazda CX-5, great car, easy process and such a nice guy! Worked with us to make sure we could take it home same day and when we swung by to pick it up, it was fully detailed and he walked us through every setting to ensure we could use them to our needs! He was very polite and efficient and made sure we were able to test drive the model/style we were interested in (instead of simply what was available with gas)... all very standard things for a good car place, but the service is all in paying attention to the minutiae details and experience, which is what he did. Online shopping at this dealership has been disappointment. Overall Mazda as brand is behind other brands such as Toyota for example when it comes to online shopping.I contacted them over e-mail to get a quote. They collected information, but refused to quote me without me coming in. I favor buying Toyota Highlander over CX-9. Toyota dealerships were far ahead of Putnam. They put together competitive offers right away.

My husband and I recently purchased Mazda3 GT Hatchback from Putnam Mazda. We had been looking for the right car for about 6 months, which means we had been to many dealerships around the bay area.While I was browsing for cars and then dealerships that had them I had never seen dealership to have a 4.8-star rating before. That was exciting!Firstly I chose a car I was interested in online and got a quote back from Gary. The quote as simply amazing! Then due to unexpected circumstances, I rescheduled it for 2 times before finding time to go to the dealership. Every time I sent an email, Gary was fast and polite in his replies.When we walked into Putnam Mazda, it was clear that the atmosphere was very friendly. Gary explained that he was a with a customer and referred us to Nelson May. Nelson was relaxed, welcoming and friendly. While Nelson brought over the car we were interested in, my husband and I tried sitting in all of their showroom cars (which is about 4 :)). Thats something I never felt welcomed to do in other dealerships.From there we test drove the car and knew it was the right one, so we started the paperwork, which we finalized with Jason. Jason was relaxed and friendly, but attentive to details, which I appreciate a lot. He explained us everything about the car related to pricing, payments, extra options etc.After that Gary walked through all the options in the car and suggested some settings that he prefers, which was helpful.Everything took between 3-4 hours from walking into the dealership to driving out with our new car.There is no doubt in my mind that if someone is looking to buy a new car in Mazdas price range that I will suggest Putnam Mazda.

Rude and disrespectful customer service.

We recently bought our Mazda CX5 at Putnam Mazda and we really appreciate working with Sheng throughout the whole process. He was diligent in providing us increasing amounts of information and staying in touch with us. We also very much appreciate Sheng’s flexibility and staying late to accommodate our busy schedule. We also would like to make special mention of Gary who delivered our car. It was obvious that he knew the car inside and out and he gave us the full spiel even though we were the last customers on a late afternoon. I had an awesome experience purchasing my 2021 Mazda 3 at Putnam Mazda with Duchih Yu recently. I gotta say This man is really the BEST. First of all, he is clearly very knowledgeable about Mazda products and patient enough to go through every detail to introduce me my new vehicle. He would check everything is working as well as it is advertised. Then, I have to comment on his amazing personality. My son and I arrived at Putnam Mazda on New Years Eve about 10:30am. We had just finished coming from Towne Mazda which was bout 8 miles south of Putnam. The experience at Towne Mazda was extremely unpleasant with both the salesman and finance manager. When we arrived at Putnam, we were immediately met by a salesman. I asked if I could speak to Gary Gottloeb since the day before I had emailed several inquires to various Mazda dealers, Gary included, looking for the best prices.I had been in the market for a Mazda3 Hatchback for the last 6 months. My son who was recently in an accident earlier in the month was also in the market for a car and he too was interested in the Mazda3 Hatchback. Gary took us both to look at the vehicles, a sport model for my son and the GT model for myself.After my son agreed on a purchase price, Gary helped assist him. He was very attentive to us, even when he had additional customers that needed assistance. Never once did we feel neglected or forgotten. He constantly asked if we were okay or needed anything. The process took about 3 hours from start to finish to complete my sons deal. This included sitting with the finance department and Gary sitting with my son in the car showing him all the options. Shortly after that, after agreeing on a purchase price we began processing my sale. Again, Gary was going between myself and another customer but was very courteous and attentive. He offered us water frequently and also gave us some snacks to munch on during our wait. After a couple hours my deal was complete as well. The entire process included, viewing the vehicle, negotiating the price, getting financed, going through the material of the car, appraising my 2002 Suburban that had 316k miles on it, sitting with the fiance department to sign papers and then having Gary sit with me in the vehicle to go over all the components. Never once did we feel like he was rushing us or not a priority customer. He does well working with multiple customers.My son and I both walked away very happy customers. Gary was awesome.When it came to my deal we did have a small hiccup with the final purchase price that I caught after I got home that evening. I emailed Gary with my concerns and he looked into it. After speaking to him on the phone the following day, he assured me the price I was quoted was correct. After we hung up, I again looked at the documentation of our correspondence and emailed him again, letting him know that I still disagreed the final price on the document. The next day he got back to me and shared that indeed I was correct and I could go back in and sign a new contract. Gary was responsive and very helpful to getting things worked out. This is something I appreciate about his style of work and believe he is a great asset to the dealership. Putnam is the worst, at least their Mazda location and its 100% because of their sales manager. I was trying to lease my fourth Mazda in a row, the last one which I leased from Putna. Despite having a bad experience last time, I thought as a returning customer I would be treated better- I WAS COMPLETELY WRONG!Although my sales person was really nice and helpful, I was treated so rudely, lied to, and then pressured by the sales manager Cartier that I left. So glad I did, was able to find the same exact car (Mazda CX-5, Grand Touring Reserve) at Mazda is San Francisco with a payment that was $50 less per month.

This was our first time buying a car in the Bay Area, and Mazda Putnam was the only dealer that made us feel welcomed. Our sales agent, Aiden Guzman, was really supportive and followed up with us a few times and made sure that we would get a good deal on our car of choice.

Car dealership visits are almost always stressful and leave you wanting for just a little more courtesy from the salesperson. But Dominic at Putnam went above and beyond, and singlehandedly transformed our buying experience. Especially because he was so well versed with Mazdas design philosophy. He is also a well rounded, well traveled human being and it showed in the respectful manner in which he treated us. This is my first car, after compared all the available brands, I chose Mazda in the end. I went to the Putnam Mazda, therere many customers and the int. salesman was not there, so, I was sit there for a long period of time... However, the salesman called Duchih gives me a really nice impression of this purchase experience! He was very patient to answer all the questions that I had, and its really helpful for me to choose my CX-5. Although I did not get the color I most wanted, the whole experience was excellent... the time I came to the store, Duchih was not on duty, but he still came earlier and pick me up in the bank, while after I purchased my car, he leaded to Cartier, and Lee recommended different insurances very patiently, which I was also very really appreciated. Im a new driver, so he helped me to drive my car back with me after he finished his works. Finally, really glad to met him, and the good qualities he had as a salesman is really impressive!!!

Happy I didnt have to play the game of 4 squares and scribble on a piece of scratch paper.
