Took it in at 8 am and didn’t leave till after 5:30pm. Had to cancel my 3:30pm dentist appointment coz of that. Also gashed the outer edge of my rim where it meets the tire. Never coming to this branch again. I was the third customer when it opened, but was probably one of the last one out. The store closes at 6

I needed an oil change and my usual service provider (run by three brothers) cancelled my appointment last week. I didnt really want to go to another competitor for similar reasons. But I discovered this gem of a service franchise. Their staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. A shout out to Marrcela the front desk service associate and her team. She fully explained the length of time needed due to their service volume. As it turned out, they finished an hour ahead of schedule. I was really impressed by the efficient vibe of their staff, who really demonstrated they knew what they were doing. I will most definitely return in the future for service.

I have to say, this is the best place to go to for car maintenance! Even though I live far away, but I would still drive all the way just to have my car taken care of. Me and my friend were talking to one of the employees, Alonzo, and realized he is the manager, and we got a new friend in this industry and had been going ever since. He treats us really nice and friendly. Every time I need my car to have an inspection, Alonzo takes care of us, and if he isn’t there, he would tell Stephanie who is another employee there to help us out. They have the best customer service and gives us the best care with great attitude. Thank you Big O’ Tires!!

Although my first impression wasn’t that great because I was met with a somewhat hostile employee, the manager, Alonzo remedied the situation.He made an exception for me to have the buy three get one discount, although the tires weren’t on sale. On top of it he showed me a trick on Groupon that if you purchase a $50 card, it’ll give you $100 in the store. I told him that I only have 30 minutes and he himself helped out with the tire change.I’d definitely come back again but I would only ask for Alonzo. When I can go anywhere for services, I definitely come back for the people that does well above and beyond the call of duty. Thank you Alonzo! 😊

Because of a missing wheel lock key taken from the previous tire replacement place, I had to wait for a long time at the store to have my tires replaced. The staffs were very helpful. Especially with a young lady named Mariah who was super helpful and kept me informed. The wheel key was ordered but the lugnuts were delivered with wrong size. That cost me extra time of wait. Thankfully,, I was able to make it to work barely on time. Ive been the San Mateo Big-O tires customers for 10 plus years. I will return to them next time for sure.

I bring my car here on a regular basis, and have for quite a number of years now. It seems like when the management changed several years ago, the professionalism took a decline. Im having trust issues now and havent decided if Im staying. Ill give two examples here from this year. Took the car in for an oil change. I always got a synthetic blend due to their recommendation. Without asking or informing me, they used full synthetic oil, which was more expensive. They also did a vehicle inspection and marked some items in the yellow column, meaning they needed attention in the future. After a subsequent oil change yesterday, the vehicle inspection report showed my transmission fluid and struts were in the green now, when I never got any work done on them. I was told by the cashier the previous inspection wasnt accurate but the new inspection was done by their master mechanic so therefore was more accurate. I dont know what to believe now and this makes me question the quality of the work they are doing.

It took two hours to change my oil and brake pads. And cost $567. I was kinda hoping to find a go to spot but Im going to continue shopping around. The vending machine was empty. The brake fluid replacement was gonna cost upwards of $160.

Going through the website to get tires and an appointment leaves a lot to be desired. After deciding on tires and scheduling an appointment I showed up at my appointment time only to find they didnt have the tires I wanted in stock. They could get them delivered, same day, but that effectively meant I needed to schedule a different time for an appointment. The location says they called me to confirm my appointment and that would have saved me time, but they never called (I checked) because they never had my number.Once it all got sorted Ive been happy with new tires and Im happy with the alignment as well. Only down side is that the tires are still filthy from putting the tires on the rims - at least make them look good when you put them on?!

The experience was very positive Stephanie, was very thorough, and detailed when explain each itemized charge and the purpose for it. The entire staff was warm and friendly when I picked up my vehicle.I interacted with 3 staff members for the pickup. Stephanie a manager I believe and two other phenomenal staff that I can’t remember their names, one was a male and the other a female. I would name or describe by nationality but in today current state I won’t lol!!!!Great staff and service

We switched from the Redwood City shop due to lack of Customer Service to the San Mateo shop. How refreshing to walk and be treated with kindness and respect. Mariah was professional and courteous person. The showroom/waiting area was clean and had nice decor neatly displayed. You felt welcomed and your choice to use them was valued. Unlike the Redwood City shop which we had been using for over 10 years.

The only place I go for tires, but also any car issues. All the employees are friendly, helpful, and don’t treat women like they are clueless like a lot of other car places can. I always research expected costs of car repairs before getting any done anywhere, because I know the prevalence of price gouging women in particular. Big O San Mateo consistently comes under average in price and you lose nothing in service. Highly recommend.

The company did a bad job on my car and whats worse, it left the oil cap open, filled the vehicle with oil and may have compromised the engine. The exchange was on Monday (04/27/21) and I only realized this on Saturday (05/01/21). Now what should I do ??? they lost the car keys and more.

I waited just over 2 hours for a standard oil change, and that was after Id set up an appointment. There were a lot of other customers coming and going in the lobby; I have no idea what sequence they were handling the customers, but I cant imagine why it took so long to change my oil. The worst part was when they told me my car was ready it was solidly blocked in three cars deep in the back of the parking lot and I had to wait a full 20 minutes for them to rearrange the cars and break me out of there. I left with the decision that I can never go back to that shop.

I woke up to find my tire flat. After a lot of back and forth with the manufacturer and dealer, I thought Id just call a tire place and bring it there. Which I did, but then they said they wouldnt have my tire in stock until the following week. I called Big O and the person who answered was bubbly and friendly, and immediately said that they had that tire in stock. They finished installing it in a matter of hours. Great service from a busy place!

I went online to make an appointment and it quoted roughly $650. I got an email saying that the time and date I chose didn’t work for this location and that someone would get back to me shortly to reschedule. A week later no one had contacted me. I went in to make an appointment and the lady that helped me apologized, she was nice. What she quoted me in the store was almost $200 more than what they had originally emailed me would be the total. I thought it was customary for wheel alignments to be free since I’m already spending so much on tires? I was charged $100 for that and got her to bring the price down a bit. My car was done in a couple of hours and seems just fine.

Didnt close the hood completely after oil change. Noticed it when I drove across a bridge at 60mph. Slowing down and following another car to minimize wind. Fortunately it didnt pop open.

Very nice manager. My perception of a mechanic shop changed after I dealt with them. They earned my trust and I don’t think they are dishonest and make a big deal out of small problems to just change a lot. I’m glad finally I found a shop that I can take my car and be confident they do the right thing and give me the best option to help my budget! Thank you!

The customer service at 8:00 am on sat despite having taken an appointment was disappointing if not down right rude. The agent across in person could not be bothered, denied the appointment scheduling not just to me but others and then deliberately delayed the customers. If you are not interested in serving customers then don’t be the at the front line of the business, making everyone look bad. It was a mere oil change, not going back.

Been going to this location for at least eight years now, I have always gotten super service, in a timely fashion, for a very fair price. The staff is very knowledgeable on what tire will work best on what car for your needs and driving style!

Needed new tires and didnt think my tires would make it to Redwood General Tire (my go to tire place) so I decided to do Big O. That was a Big O Mistake! I ordered my tires on Friday of Memorial Day weekend and they told me they would be in the next day (Saturday). I called Saturday and they told me they wouldnt be in until Tuesday due to the holiday. They called me on Wednesday to let me know my tires were in. I asked if I could come on Saturday and they said sure. I arrive at 1:00 and before we sign the paper work we are looking at all the extra costs. The guy said, oh did we tell you about the 3 yr warranty protection plan? We said, we dont want it. He then said, oh, well that will bring the price down. If we hadnt looked closely at all the charges they would have charged us for that. We sign the paper work and they tell me the car will be ready in about 2 hrs and they will call me. I call at 3:30 and they tell me they havent gotten to it yet but its next, oh its going on right now. My husband and I drove our other car over to Big O and Big O surprise, our car was in the same spot it was at 1 pm. They told me that my car was going in next and it would probably be about an hour and 45 minutes. I said, I came in at 1 pm and they told me two hours. I called two and a half hours later and they told me it was going in right now, its still in the same spot. Then they said, oh we can do it now. They put it on the hydraulic jack and jacked it up, took off the tires and about a minute later a hydraulic fluid line sprung a leak and the belly of my car hit the ground. The hydraulic fluid got all over my undercarriage, on my right break rotor and on the fender of my car. Then they had to manually jack it up and had a couple mishaps doing that. Once they got my tires on they drove it to another carport and put it on the lift to give me a free alignment aka checking to make sure that they didnt break anything when the jack failed. They told me there might be some leakage but it was just the hydraulic fluid that got sprayed on the undercarriage. When we got home we hosed it off and there was a ton of hydraulic fluid. I will never go back to Big O tires again! If you can go anywhere else do it.

Great, honest service. I was able to get a nice discount on a set of new tires. I prefer them over Wheel Works, who is always trying to upsell you on unnecessary products and services.

Tried to get service here for the two weeks . I make a appointment and they tell me it is a 4 hour wait regardless of my appointment... So whats the point of a appointment then .. the first desk employee suggested I come early in the which I came 15 minutes early before opening and I am the third person in like .. there is already a 3 and half hour wait ..seems like that have a problem of managing there time at this location

I recently had a set of tires installed here. The team was friendly, professional and kind. They hooked me up with some great tires and got me on my way in record time. 2 thumbs waaay up to Alfonso the manager.

I had a road hazard issue and it took a while to get the tire, I was able to drop off just the tire and then quickly come and get it mounted when it was ready. I have also used them to align my Tesla and buy tires there and my dads tires. Very good experience

Not impressed and will never go back. I only needed new tires put on. My car was not ready when they said it would be, wasting my time and needing to find a way back home and then back again to the shop later that day. I called first to make sure it was ready the second time. They confirmed it was. I get down to the shop and it is still sitting there without the new tires. When they finally tell me it is ready a service guy comes out and explains some lug nuts or whatever are still not on, so I wait for that. Then I get home and come to find they didn’t put any caps on. Never. Again.

Service was quite good. I had a tire that was slashed in a spot where it could not be repaired. Fortunately, it was under warranty. So after a little delay because my size was not in stock at that store, I got a new tire.As an aside, I have Big O brand tires and have been quite pleased with their performance.

Got my car to Big 0 by 9 am. After 4 hours car hadn’t been touched. After going home I had to call constantly to keep reminding the staff that my car was even there. Finally around 2 the car was finished. Maybe car was put on the back burner because it was a warranty job?

I came in for the 60k maintenance for my corolla. I was dreading this whole ordeal, but Alonzo made sure everything went smoothly & in a timely manner. I appreciate Alonzo being upfront about what to expect/giving me details about what they’re going to do to my car & keeping his promises with time deadlines. I would definitely go back.

Took my car in for an alignment and TPMS reset at 8am and was out by 9:30am. TPMS light is off and car rides straight now

This place is okay, they used to be the best when Sanjeev and Chris was running it .Lack customer service is noted. I don’t know how many times I had to repeat myself the the ladies that work there.I walked to pick my car up and they didn’t even know where was my car keys. May 8, 2021I went to Big O Tires to get an oil change. The desk clerk got me in and the technician got me out in 45 minutes. Although I hadn’t heard the best things from people ; I personally had a stellar experience with Big O ! I dropped my car b4 they were open. Called around 8 AM and spoke with Mariah. She was absolutely amazing. Not only was she friendly, helpful and informative- but she went above and beyond the call of duty. Told her I thought I needed new brake pads and she called me back with what needed to be done gave me a breakdown of each service and part and the total. To my surprise; it was very affordable and cost less than I had anticipated. Mariah knew that I was done with my workday at 1 pm and assured me it would be done by then. True to her word, Mariah Called me at 12:20 to tell me my car was ready! Thanks to all the TEAM members at Big O.

I made an appointment online for 10am at the San Mateo location. It is not an issue with Customer Service, Stephanie was friendly and attentive. I was scheduled for, 4 new tires, alignment and an oil change.Even though I had an appointment, it didn’t seem at all that it mattered because, I got there by 10am the mechanics were not done until 3:30pm. I asked Stephanie if I will be able to pick up my car by 2pm and she said “yes”. I called at 2:15pm and she said they just “pulled” my car up that very minute I called. She said they were running behind but will get everything done by 3:15pm. I arrived at 3pm to see if they were almost done and my car was up but my tires were still not changed to the brand new ones. If I had known this was going to be an all day appointment I would not have made other obligations that day. I am a rideshare driver for kids so I am constantly on the road.They were done by 3:30pm. The services that needed to be done with my car was done in roughly 30 MINUTES so this means that the work was RUSHED. This really made me think about the integrity of the mechanics and the quality of the services that I received. As a rideshare driver for young children, honestly this is something I don’t want to have to fear or have to question.No, I did not read the negative Yelp reviews prior to making my appointment. However, I wish I had because of my experience, therefore I cannot recommend anyone to get their car serviced here.And please do not recommend/upsell (ex: oil change) if you are having scheduling issues and don’t have the man power to deliver quality services to your customers.

Quick, easy, and friendly! Brought my car in at 3pm, car was ready at 530- had new tires, new brakes, and new wipers put on. Took advantage of their credit card offer and got 12 months interest free. Tires have a 3 year free replacement warranty, and brakes have a warranty too (cant remember for how long off the top of my head) but all three services for $1k interest free plus the warranties- Im very happy.

Dropped my truck off for the day to get tires and an alignment. I go to get the truck at the end of the day and they tell me the tires just came in and it will be a few more hours. I needed to leave and told them I would bring back the truck another day. I drop my truck off a second time and they tell me it will 2 1/2 - 3 hours tops. I go back 6 hours later and the truck is still on the alignment rack. They quickly remove the sensors to give me the truck which made me wonder...Did they even finish the alignment ??Needless to say I will not be going here again.

I called big O tires in San Mateo on a Monday morning at 9:15 needing tires to replace threadbare ones so I could go on a road trip, leaving at noon. The customer service was wonderful over the phone he checked they had these hard to fine tires in stock and said that he could get me out by 11 upon my request. I was at the store within 15 minutes they were friendly quick concise clear quote. Tires were on the car at a reasonable price and I was out the door by 10:50. This is my first experience with big O tires and I would definitely return and suggested them anybody.

Dropped my car off here for a simple tire repair. The agent told me it’d take about an hour. After three hours I haven’t received a call so I called in. They said the car was done. So I grab a Lyft and head on over. I get to the register, the employee greets me and takes my payment. When I head back to my car I was a bit confused because it was in the exact same spot I’d left it in. I go to look at the tire and it’s still flat. No work had been done. I ask the employee what happened and he goes “ohh, your tire can’t be repaired we have to replace it. We need to order another tire, it will take about a day to complete.” I ask why they told me it was done and why didn’t they call to let me know it needed additional work? Also I just paid for a tire repair that hasn’t happened. He’s like - oh I’ll get the manager. At that point I opted to leave and take my car elsewhere. Wheel Works on B st who had the tire replaced in under two hours on a late afternoon walk in.So yeah - long story short. They wasted hours of my time and two Lyft rides. Not recommended.

I had a appointment at 2:30. I was told it would take a hour and a half. After that time I went back 4 times to see if my truck was done. It took them 4 hours to do my oil change. They had the nerve to suggest that I puck up my truck the next day because they wanted to close the store and go home. They had zero consideration that I was stuck with no car for that long and when I expressed my frustration the guy behind the counter pretty much said oh well thats how it goes. Sometimes you have to wait a few hours. He was pretty rude. IT WAS OVER 4 HOURS..I have never waited that long and I will never go back to big o tires again. Nor would I recommend anyone else to go there either. This was at the San mateo, CA location

Stopped in to see about new tires for my H1 Hummer, kinda thought they would have to order tires and I would have to come back. Surprise on a Saturday they send driver to warehouse got tires and had them on before 5:30. Great job. Nice people

I had a tire emergency yesterday with my young son in the car - a huge bolt ended up embedded in my tire somehow, as we were headed home several miles away for dinner time. They took me in without an appointment and finished the tire repair within an hour. Even stayed after closing. Super nice staff, totally on top of things. I was kind of freaking out and they took good care of us. Thank you so much!

Quality work here at Big O Tires. I would give five stars, if it wasnt for the lack of communication I experienced. I was upset at first when I was quoted 2 hours for my appointment to get my car fixed up, and it took 7 hours.However, I learned that the part that came in was defective and the mechanic at Big O Tires took the whole 7 hours to work on it and make sure the part was fully functional. Considering the amount of work they put into my car they still only charged me for my original quote of labor, and even gave me a discount for the miscommunication and trouble it posed on my plans for the day.Overall my experience was good. Great staff, excellent mechanics, and quality work. They just need to improve communication in the shop as well as with customers, and the five stars will rightfully be earned.Thanks you for fixing my car up!

Great overall experience shopping for new tires at this store! Needed a good performance tire and Alonzo knew exactly what I needed immediately. He even shopped for a great deal for me. Had a punctured tire that i patched myself, and it still leaked air. Went looking around from dealerships to other tire shops and they couldnt get the tire in on time. This was the only place that was able to do a same day delivery and install

Took my car in for an oil change. Attendant estimates 2 hours until car is ready (no problems here). 2 hours later I get a call about another issue with my vehicle (wheel bearing is worn down and needs to be fixed), and asks me if I would like it repaired, and insists that it is dangerous to drive on. I oblige, trusting the attendants familiarity and knowledge, and the attendant quotes me ~$300 for the repair and another 3 hours for the wheel bearing fix. I get another call a couple hours later informing me that they got the wrong part to fix my car, so now they have to wait for the new one, which delays the fix for two days (took car in the day before Thanksgiving).Fast forward to two days later (Friday after thanksgiving) and I have to call back for them to alert me incorrectly that the car wont be ready until 3 pm (wouldve been a total of 14 hours over two days for an oil change and 3 hour repair..). They then call me back to tell me, oh actually the car is ready now (at 1 pm), so I head over to pick up my vehicle and hopefully be done. Not only was the car not finished, I had to sit in the waiting room because apparently my ABS light had come on (it wasnt on previously) and the tech was attempting to get it to turn off before I left. They did not inform me about the ABS light until I showed up to get my car, and they proceed to tell me that the ABS light was on when I brought it in (it wasnt, but how do I prove that? lol). So I shut my mouth like the good boy I am and pay my stupid bill (which ended up being ~150 more than they quoted me originally).Long story short, if you value your time and your vehicle, go somewhere else. I appreciate that they noticed the wheel bearing was busted and fixed it, but people have other things going on and the way the communication regarding both the status of my car and the cost of the service left a bitter taste in my mouth I wont soon forget. Anyone know of a good car service place?

I came to purchase two tires and arrived around 2 pm. I was told it’d be done by 5pm so I decided to wait. About 4 hours had passed and my vehicle was still unattended to. The technicians didn’t start on my car until 5:30 pm and was finished around 6:15 pm. I left feeling extremely disappointed and with a name being “Big O Tires” one would think this is a business that specializes in changing tires with efficiency and priority.

Quick and efficient. Came here to replace two tires on my 2016 RX350 and was told they would contact me at 3pm. Surprisingly the car was done in two hours or less.

Came in with a slow leak in one tire. Was told treads were worn on all four so I replaced all four. When I got car back the inspection showed two tires at 7/32. That is NOT worn!Also tires were not filled to balanced pressure. Left side 4 psi lower than right on both front & rearNote to owner - I see your reply but I cant respond to it. Had an appointment at 4pm to wait while they installed tires on my truck. They did not start until around 5:30pm and finally finished at 7:20pm. Would not have brought it in if I knew I would wait this long.At least the tires are fine....

Terrible customer service. Rude attendant, no explanation about the service and tried to charge me for a service that I haven’t requested.

My tire blew out on the freeway in San Carlos at 4pm. I live another 2 hours away and had to get home that night. I call big O and asked if they could fix it before they close. They said yes so I got a tow over there and i decided to get 4 new tires. I was on my way home by 6pm! Thank you so much Big O for helping me, the new tires and alignment feel great!

Stephanie is at big o tires in San Mateo ROBBING people!!! Corporate needs to pay attention & address this issue.This needs to be addressed.I came in with a Groupon code for an oil change as I do every time I need an oil change and I have been to different locations all over & I always have to pay out of pocket around $9 along with my Groupon that I bought.Stephanie told me that I have to pay $40 out of pocket along with the Groupon because I have to pay for the oil filter & she was very hostile. There was no talking to this lady. I paid the bill but it’s not the way Big o tires should be represented. Being in a customer service role you are representing the company! I told her in the fine print of the Groupon it states the oil filter is included.I have a screenshot of the fine print if corporate cares to take a look.Also, if I paid $50 for a Groupon & $40 for a filter then that comes out to $90 which makes no sense. I could have drove one block away and paid full price and it would have been around the same price. I drove 30 mins away and waited 3 hours !!! I got a Groupon to save money on an oil change and I didn’t save money but also got disrespected and a headache. I didn’t have the time or energy to explain to her as she acted like she knew everything and was very hostile.

Don’t care about business. Was there before the other customer show up and decided not to work on my car before other customer show up and told me I need to wait after their cars are done!? I just need an oil change which can could be done in 10 mins!

Stephanie Parker was a very refreshing change from the normal service advisor She explained everything, told me the pricing ahead of time (no surprises), was organized and friendly. Well done San Mateo Big O

I had an appointment for 3pm on a Friday . I was told that I only needed two rear tires for my 4Runner. That was a correct assessment and a honest business transaction that I appreciate. Unfortunately, I didnt leave the store until just before 7pm. I lived north in SF and this was my husbands and I only vehicle, so we couldnt just leave the car over night which wouldve been fine but not the situation I was in. The price was fair, the stores associate showed concern that I was waiting so long for someone who had an appointment and was told it would only be 1 to 2 hours. My only complaint is that if you make an appointment, then the services should be started on that time. I showed up 15 to 20 minutes early. They were busy clearly. They were trying hard but my tires werent even started until 430. I was tired and frustrated. Again, whats the point of an appointment if the services preformed arent started at that time. Anyways, I was treated with respect and with honesty. My 3 stars would be 5 if I had just had 2 tires placed, balanced and aligned within 2 hours. Ohhh they forgot to give me my tire lug nut key. Came back next day and they found it and apologized. The tech felt bad. No hard feelings. You were crazy busy dude.Thank you for letting me vent. 2020 blows for all. I never post reviews and I must say that this experience deserves a great review. Big O tires San Mateo was super clear with the quote, found the most affordable tires compared to 3 different shops I called, and didn’t try to upsell me for better tires. They even let me know I could get a groupon before I come back to pick up the car to save 40% on the oil change. Super friendly and patient staff. Recommend!

This is definitely the best store in the entire Bay Area for basic work on any car -- Alonzo is a true professional who will give you real advice (and not try to upcharge you).As a young woman walking into a auto shop, it can be an intimidating experience, but I felt very comfortable throughout my entire interaction with the team at Big O.Again, I cannot stress enough how great Alonzo is -- you want his team caring for your car!

Great experience. Did an oil change and tire rotation. Said it would take 2 hrs and was out the door in 1 .5 !

I came in to do a tire alignment, mount and balance for new tires. I love my car a lot so i tend to be really picky about this. Alonzo and his team was really patient with me and took care of my anxieties about the mount and wheel alignment. They performed custom specs on my alignment which a lot of shop did not want to do. I know as a girl a lot of these shops simply dismiss your general knowledge for car but Alonzo did not! they did an excellent job working on my car while being efficient. Im from NYC so my patience is definitely on the lower end... But they did a super awesome job within a neat time frame. So go to this shop and ask for Alonzo and his team.

They were great and saying Thanks for being Patient and Thanking Me, Great smile and Great Customer Service.

We were very impressed with one of the ploy ease in San Mateo who had six people waiting because someone called in sick the phones were ringing and he was very attentive to each customer, he remained calm, he was able to get everyone taken care of providing them with good estimates on when their cars would be completed taking into consideration those who had appointments that may have been further in that line. Appreciate the good work Reliable work.

A lady working there on 11/20/20 is extremely helpful and has great customer service skills.I had a 10am appointment but arrived at 10:18 and car was done at 1:15.. long wait for putting on 4 new tires. I I always go to big o because their prices are great and the employees are nice.. but the wait😔

All associates were very professional and helpful. Because I was in a hurry, they were swift and helped get me out fast. Especially Alonzo, he was very professional.I will certainly go back for any of my tires needs.Thanks to all the associates.
