Prices are high, but selection is good if you are looking for traditional plants for Southern California. Not great for exotics. Staff are friendly, somewhat helpful, and many, but not all are knowledgeable.

I used to love this place for viriety of plants they have. However. I bought milkweed plant with them about 3 months ago. I bought it as addition to the plant I already have, because my monarch caterpillars was eating it at great speed. So now, 3 month later I got another batch of monarch butterflies eggs in both plants that are hatching... And sadly on milkweed from green thumb Nursery all caterpillars die as soon as they are tiny and feed on leaves. So my conclusion is they do use pesticides that kill monarch catapillars. Its so sad. I moved that plant away from my own, so that remaining caterpillars will survive. Who needs milkweed plant that useless? Moreover their milkweed plants are infested with yellow aphids, that I have to wash away daily with water, because I dont use pesticides in my garden. Its just overall bad. Buy your milkweed for sure elsewhere. Funny thing before I bought milkweed from them I specifically asked if it the right one and safe one for caterpillars. The answer was Yes, but happened to be a lie. I attached pictures of green thumb yellow flower milkweed that is literally has very little bite in it compare to my own red plant with healthy caterpillars growing.

The selection of pottery and planters are second to none! Ive been looking for a shallow bowl planter for my succulents and finally found one here!While they have a small selection of house and indoor plants they did have a few of the rarer plants available.My favorite was their succulent section. Lots to choose from. Aloes were plentiful and healthy.

We got our Christmas tree today and the staff was so helpful and really seemed like they were happy to be helping! Our tree is beautiful, fresh, and great smelling! Lots of fresh trees to choose from.

Bought a cassia tree 2 months ago, it died. Took it back last week and they exchanged it. The new tree had the same big roots wrapped around the trunk. Come to find out, its called girdling, and it most likely will not survive, was told by 2 arborist.....I took it back this morning and got a smaller version.....they received a new shipment of them. The staff is very accommodating, no problem with yet another exchange. However, I was told by a couple of arborist, those first 2 trees should of never been for sale. Thank you Green Thumb! 5 🌟

My favorite place to visit for plants. I bought many vegetable plants here along with a few fruit trees. The ladies are so helpful and knowledgeable. I live in Carlsbad and they always recommend what would grow in my zone. This year with covid I had so much more time to spend int he garden ... and the broccoli and cauliflowers plants I purchased here produced like crazy.

Incredible Christmas selection including trees and decor, huge variety of pots and containers, all sorts of supplies, and fountains. Much bigger than it seems from the street. I really like this nursery. They have a great selection of plants, flowers and trees for any type garden. Also have items to put on a porch or in a garden for an extra added decoration. They also have a numerous selection of pots, ceramic or plastic, whichever you need. I love this Green Thumb Nursery in San Marcos! Everything is beautifully displayed, and we shop here all year long. They have pond plants, seeds and bulbs, and gifts as well as beautiful pots and healthy plants. When we saw how fresh the Christmas trees are here we immediately switched to tree shopping here every year!

I always include a stop here when I make my garden store rounds. I especially appreciate Olivia. When Covid first limited our safe shopping options, Olivia would take my order over the phone then... when I would get there to pick up, she would show me more choices from a safe distance, letting me add and remix colors and styles so my garden was always beautiful thanks to her. Her sweet customer service helped me find happiness even during such a scary time!!

Green Thumb always has a great selection of beautiful and healthy plants, but what I really value is the ability to go to “the doctor” in the garden shop. I take in leaves, flowers, bugs, etc. They are great diagnosticians and also really knowledgeable about products. Additionally, everyone is always very helpful.

Great local nursery, and its always better to shop local than the big box stores! They always have a good selection of annuals, perennials, fruit trees and other edible plants, waterwise, native plants, bonsai, houseplants, succulents, and seeds/pottery/supplies when in season. Depending on what time of year it is, they also offer gorgeous Christmas trees, fruiting citrus, blooming camellias, bare-root fruit trees, water plants, mums, roses... You get the idea. Bigger than it looks from the street, and always has exceptional service. Only downside is that they are a bit on the pricey side for some things, but overall they are competitive and definitely a one-stop-shop. Sign up for their newsletter and get a coupon every week!

Place has decent plants, cool pots, but the 70% shadecloth prices are OUTRAGEOUS. 6 wide roll, 100 feet. $300. Half roll. Over $350...had to buy online.

Ever since discovering my first Green Thumb in Ventura, I was thrilled to find another Green Thumb in the North County San Diego area. I love wandering the pottery and plants area, and Ive picked up some great clearance pots, also. Ive bought trees, shrubs, herbs, vegetables, and I love their variety (just look at the different types of lavender). They also have great gardening supplements and nice selection of seeds. Ive even purchased wall art. When I moved to Fallbrook and tried to identify some existing plants, their staff was very helpful. A favorite place.

Im incredibly frustrated with the mis labeling of plants. This is the third time I have come here and thought I had gotten one thing only to find out after putting my time and money into the growth I purchased that it isnt what I paid for. While exchanging is an option provided, to have to go and dig it up, re-pot, and bring it back is an option given it is a useless one. It shouldnt be my responsibility to get it right. Just disappointing. After being a customer for youear I wont be returning. Tired of the disappointment 😞

So Ive been going here for 6 years and let me tell you a few things about this nursery.This nursery has a large selection of plant goodies in here. You want corn? You got it, they have it. You want Kiwi? You got it. You want flowering trees of many types? You got it! Herbs of all kinds? Right here! Water plants for the pond? Oh definitely. Want some fish like Koi with that too? Come right in! If they dont have it, they can order it for you! I remember asking for some iceberg roses and BAM! They got it for me. If something goes wrong with your plant, you can take it back for a refund or exchange w/receipt.You want some tools and decor for that garden? A fountain for the birdies to splishie splashie? Oh stop right by. The staff are also very knowledgeable and hospitable in fulfilling your needs, and help carry the plants for you if you wish!Honestly with how mesmerizing this nursery is, I always go visit and buy here for a lot of my plant needs, no matter where in San Diego County I lived in, to the point where I wished I lived there at the nursery! Haha theres a bird nesting on one of the info desks, bees buzzing around, and lots of butterflies fluttering about.I definitely recommend coming here for some green thumb needs haha.

I drove for an hour to go back to this place, and usually buy from them every year. The staff is always helpful, and the nursery is always willing to help you get something that may not be in stock. I’ve bought nearly 20 fruit trees from them this last year and they are all doing well. So are the tomato plants that I bought.

Love this place! Great variety, friendly staff - some are very knowledgeable! The plant prices seem to be the going rate. Fun garden and landscaping add ins, but they are very expensive. Highly recommend! You can spend a lot of time here!

This nursery is huge and has a lot of stuff. Each area is well sectioned so it is easy to find. It is also nice walking around and can easily spend over an hour looking around. They have a good amount of vegetable seedlings and fruit trees. Overall I would recommend this place if you are in the area or live close to it.

Biggest variety in town. Also happy to special-order anything you want as long as you have appropriate patience. Exceptionally knowledgable and experienced staff, always happy to help. What a lovely peaceful place! There are so many varieties of plants, beautiful garden decorations, all kinds of pots, garden furniture, and unique garden gifts and tools for kids. I loved finding unusual plants that Ive never seen before, like the tortoise plant from Mexico, and espalliered camellias, my favorite! Definitely could spend all day here.
