I really want to love this store, as it’s my closest game shop. Unfortunately, the things I’m most into (painting minis, Star Wars Legion), are just not really stocked here. There is a comically small selection of paints, and when I asked about Legion I was told “yeah no one really plays that game so we don’t carry much from it.” Ouch. Sadly the only thing I usually end up buying is a red bull.If they would step up their paint supply I’d spend money here a lot more often.

Superb game store that treats the customer first. Alpha strike is well managed and well organized game store that promotes fun play experiences in a variety of fashions from card games to D&D, board games and even retro video games. No matter your gaming need this place has it at a competitive rate.I played here nearly weekly during my time at TXST and I still try my best to pop in when I’m in town visiting.5/5

Entering here after looking for a specific book. Stumbled upon an MTG tournament so there was a good amount of people there. While they did not have the book I wanted, everyone was extremely friendly and its easy to tell that the owner cares about the stores appearance. Also fair warning, there is an adorable puppy that walks around as well. All in all walked out with some information on where to look next and the ability to pet one more dog.

Some friends and I noticed the shop and decided to drop in as we play various tcgs and collect cards. Staff seemed disinterested in engaging with us and weren’t very helpful. Friend asked the price of a card on display and the employee told him to download an app and “look it up”.Aside from that the store had a decent selection. Wouldn’t go spend my money there though. Didn’t feel at home.

These guys always have Pokémon cards and magic the gathering cards. Highly recommend giving them a visit.

Great store! Had a lot of Pokemon cards for my son to look through. Friendly staff that was willing to look for the cards my son was looking for. They have a large selection of games to choose from. The store is much bigger than it looks from the road. Check them out!

This is strictly from a yugioh perspective, they dont have alot of yugioh stuff no singles only online which was probably the worst part but if you are in too collectible toys, comics, old/new video games, and magic then this is a good spot, they also have a pretty good amount of pokemon stuff the players were pretty cool too

This us a cute little dive that you can take your kids or tweens to. They have lots of great choices of Pokemon cards, trading cards and tables in the back to sit and trade. Great idea. Staff helpful.

Walk in and we were ignored the whole time. We ask for help and staff acted like it was a huge bother.

Good selection of cards, tabletop games, and video games. Employees are knowledgeable and open to questions. My only gripe is that all the video games are behind glass. I understand why this is done, but it does affect the shopping experience.

Compliments: Very cozy with a wide variety of games. Reminded me of a mini Dragons LairOne complaint: next to no one wore masks

Man. What a cool store. Nice people running the joint. Great prices. The vibe is very familiar and cozy, not enough stores like this in the world. I went there for games, but the CCG setup was excellent as well. Definitely gonna pop back in anytime I run through San Marcos looking for gems.

Not open during posted business hours ON A SATURDAY. Just watched 4 separate customers park and then leave again. Also, the last time I was here when they felt like being open, staff seems to be more interested in playing D&D at the tables than actually helping customers.

So far its been a very positive experience. They are heavily tailored towards magic the gathering, board games and retro consoles. There is also a calendar board if you want to see upcoming events.

Man forget that guy Russ man ..... LOL no just kidding I been going to his store since it was on LBJ. Great store he is always expanding and its awesome to see how far he has come. Great selection he knows his customers even if its been over a year due to moving (thats me). I live over an hour away but when I come back he knows who I am which to me is everything. Only issue I have is not enough hipster water. No but nothing but good things for this store great prices and awesome deals. Ill always make the drive

Great crew of people and good selection of board games, figurines, cards, etc. Everything you would want in a game store with ample space to play games. They also have scheduled days for D&D, magic, yugioh and things of the like. Would definitely recommend.

This company runs it self unethically online. Changing prices on items to run it up and cancelling orders after they have already have sold. What’s the point? Don’t do business with company’s like this.

Absolutely wonderful shop. The owner is great, and even though I dont come in often he always remembers my name and is super helpful. The shop has a good selection of cards, and everything is kept organized very well. Theres usually a format played every day(which is great if you cant always make Friday nights). The actual players there are really friendly and nice, even if theyre competitive. Definitely worth a visit.

I really enjoyed the selection at Alpha Strike, but the whole time I was in the store, nobody really greeted me or offered to help, though I was looking for a specific miniature, and one of the people working said they didn’t carry it after I spent a good amount of time looking for it. I was not helped until I took my purchases to the cash register, and even then it was hard to get attention. It was clear that the owner/manager was there, but even he did not bother to say hello until I was checking out and asked about additional services. I have no reason to come back to this shop. While they do have a decent selection, there was not anything I could not find elsewhere, and without any personal interaction, I did not feel welcomed at all and will not be back.

I really enjoy this place, it is a great resource for table top gamers. This place is not just a store, There is a large area in the back to actually play games and they always have cool and exciting events going on. On the store side, they have a very large selection of merchandise, and when they don’t have what you’re looking for in stock the employees are always more than happy to order it for you.

Really fun place to hang out you can come and play for free. I wish they would post a small cover charge so we could get some AC in there. Im sure they have one but they dont crank it up to save money and after about five hours you can really feel it. Owners are really nice and friendly.

Very friendly shop, great group of people! Super knowledgeable employees and the owner, Russ, is a true fan of Magic: The Gathering and other games.They do a bunch of different formats and have a good group of consistent drafters. This is my go-to card shop and I try to stop by as much as I can.

I play YuGiOh here once a week with some of the most down to earth diverse group of people Texas has to offer. It is a great spot for acceptance and fun for all ages.

I personally love this place Ive been looking for place like this for 3 years and finally found one nearby the people were nice and courteous and honestly the guy Who is working which really patient with me and my friend I think we might have Annoyed A little bit but nonetheless He showed courtesy to us. My only complaint is that some of their cards were a little bit over price by a couple of dollars according to the official MTG website Other than that it is a great place

Im from out of state and I throughly enjoyed my time there. The place was organized, easy to pull Magic cards and the staff was very friendly. I will most likely be using Alpha Strike for my TCG orders when I go back home.

Decent selection and pricing, but the guy working there wasnt personable. He did eventually go a out of his way to find the exact cards my son was looking for.

Everytime I come in when Christian is working, he literally takes either nothing or bare minumum. In comparison to Russ or Jeremy who usually take what theyre supposed to while theyre working as a card shop, its significantly less. Ive even gone in and he didnt take anything and asked me to come back because he was too busy playing a game of magic. I understand that thats what the shop is for, but if youre working at that time, you should be doing your job simultaneously. Other than that, the shop is great.

I started to pick up MtG towards the end of last year (Nov 2015.) This shop, its owner, and its players have been extremely helpful in picking up the fun, yet complicated game.Whether youre looking for casual fun or competitive play, I would definitely recommend Alpha Strike.

The employees had a great attitude. I went in the shop to sell some things and got written a check but i went to cash it and it bounced because Alpha Strike didnt have the funds. I returned and had a chat on the phone with the owner who made me wait inside of his shop for 40 minutes until he got there only to rip up the check in my face and tell me to get out of his store. I will never be shopping here again because of the blatent disregard for common courtesy towards customers as an owner of a business. Unbelievable.

I casually play both YGO and MtG and this is an awesome place to get cards, sleeves, and deck boxes!I suspect theyre using something like TCGplayer market prices for their cards but Ive always paid less in their store than an optimized cart on TCGplayer so its always worth it to get them in-store instead if they have it. The prices on their accessories like sleeves and deck boxes are actually equivalent or even better than Amazon or online as well so theres no reason to not support them if they have what you want!You can tell that Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon arent this stores focus, and while they still have an absolutely amazing selection for both games, dont expect the employees to be super knowledgeable about the meta or archetypes for Japanese games. This is not a mark on them at all as they are deeply into MtG, and I couldnt try to imagine keeping up with two metas at the same time. Do your research and create lists for the cards you want beforehand or else it will be a little overwhelming reading all the cards in all of their binders! They do have a meta binder that contains the more stronger and popular archetypes for Yu-Gi-Oh! and that definitely helps cut down on card-hunting time.If youre an MtG player this is your haven! An insane of amount of cards and accessories for the game await you. The employees are extremely knowledgeable about MtG and Ive even popped in just to clear up rulings on some cards for me and friends decks!Of course they sell other card and board games, and even retro video games and consoles as well! If youre nerdy in any kind of way I would definitely recommend stopping by here to check it out, its a unique place that San Marcos is very lucky to have!EDIT: Went to their Wednesday YGO tournament for the first time and had a blast! Really cool people, and tons of trading/selling going on. Again, cant recommend this place enough.
