Reliable auto charged me 1300$ for all new brakes & rotors and they broke a screw on my brakes without telling me. Still charged me full & let me drive off without me knowing. They also replaced my starter for 900$ and broke something that now rattles constantly and they won’t own up to anything. Not only this, but they broke my hood latch and now my hood doesn’t want to stay closed when all of it was perfectly fine before. Do not ever use them or go here EVER.

I am very happy that I took my vehicle to these guys! There was an adapter needed that was quite difficult to find. It took numerous tries over a couple of weeks time but Raul was patient and didnt give up until he found the adapter, completed the repair and got us back on the road. And he did it with a smile!! San Marcos location has been good to us. We had our vehicle go back several times to another location and we kept having issues with our car. We took it to the San Marcos location and they found the Real problem quickly. They were professional and friendly and kept in contact about what was going on with our vehicle.

Great place to get your vehicle looked at. Took in my old truck for an alignment and since they couldnt get it perfect, they didnt charge me a cent. He let me know of a different problem it had but didnt try and pressure on the situation at all.

Im pretty happy with the customer service, the service provided, and the turn around. I dropped my car off to have the ac repaired, and they had it finished the next day. They called me for updates and were very friendly. No one likes spending a bunch to have their vehicle repaired, but given the circumstances it made the situation much more tolerable.4 stars and not five because the website where you make appointments doesnt work. To me this seems like an easy fix on their end; call if you need a *definite* time. If the phones busy, keep calling. Theyll get it done. I will definitely recommend them in the future! Honest folks! My daughter, an 18 year oldCollege student, just went to have her car checked out as she thought there might be a problem with the battery or starter. They checked everything out and sent her on the way without a charge. They could have so easily fixed something that did not need fixing to make some bank. Great shop, highly recommend!

I went in to have my ac checked. It was blowing but no cold air. They estimated 2 hours. They took my car back immediately and did a test on it. At first they said they thought it had a leak. They ran more tests and the conclusion was no leak just needed freon. I was relieved that was all it needed. I had a coupon for the ac check. The only thing I paid for was freon and labor. Good outcome.

This is one of the best places in town. I never get ripped off here. Honest mechanics, doing their jobs and doing it right. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend to anyone. Be warned - they are always very busy because of how they do business, but the guys made it easy letting me schedule an appointment.

Jerold and Thomas where fantastic, they shoot you straight and are some of the most honest people ive meet at a auto shop. I was in San Marcos from Dalllas for the weekend and had heavy vibrations in my steering when braking naturally i though it was my brakes and upon them looking at things it turns out all 4 of my inside side walls where separating, (something my mechanic in DFW missed just 2 weeks prior) needless to say these two probably saved my life, i doubt those tires would have gotten me back to Dallas in one piece. Thanks again guys, i wouldn’t hesitate to come back anytime.

Very rarely do I feel compelled to leave negative reviews, but an experience I had 20 minutes ago at this place prompted me to. I waited 4 days to give these guys my business rather than go to take 5. I showed up at 10:05 for my 10:00 oil changeand was waiting in the road due to the fact that a tow truck was blocking the entrance. After heading inside 5-10 mins later, I was told by Danny that I was late for my appointment and that if I wanted an oil change that they could get me in by the end of the day. I get that I was late, but if y’all want to cancel appointments that are 10 minutes late, not even completely at their own fault, then you might want to make your business walk-ins only. I’m not one to get irritated with those trying to help me out, but take this as the equivalent.

This place is a joke, they tried to charge me around 1000 dollars for a 400 dollar job (3 different quotes as evidence), with the bulk of the charge being for a part that was fairly new and did not need any work in the first place. Theyll try to screw you over any chance you get, dont waste your time with these guys.

I was trveling from Minnesota to Harlingen when my van broke down on the toll road 130. Thanks to Raul and his advise towards a towing company my van was towed to San Marcos to Reliable at a pretty reasonable tow charge. It happened on a Saturday and my van was full of tools, clothes, nick nacks & frozen food. Fortunately due to help from friends my frozen food was saved. There were some issues with the repairs due to the amount of rust from Minnesota winters and ordering of parts. I ended up traveling to Harlingen without my van and did return in 2 weeks to pick it up. Ended up being a nice 2 day vacation and my van ran wonderfully back to Harlingen. I thought the charges were reasonable but most of all was the friendliness of the staff there and I felt like a valued customer when I drove out the driveway. That should say something about the type of business this is. Thanks again Raul & Tom.

Charged me $100 just to look at my car then asked for $1600 to fix it. I went to another shop where parts were less than $300... How they get away with scamming customers is unreal.

The work they did was great. However, their communication skills are severely lacking. When the car was brought in, they said it would be finished the next day. At the end of the next day we had to call them to find out it was going to take longer. They should have called us. Additionally, they fixed an extra item that was not quoted without calling and asking us. The bill ended up surprising us being an extra $150! It is important to talk with your customers about these things. Even though we were satisfied with the work, they lost customers because I expect decent communication.

Only one word for them and that is amazing! They are really good people and always make sure you are taken care of without giving you the run around. Ive had several jobs done by them, due to having an old vehicle, and they have always kept me updated and given me the best service possible. I just cant express in words how great they really are! I am truly appreciate for all that they have helped me with in keeping my vehicle running.

My son goes to college there at TXST, I live three hours away and he had an electronic issue with his 2008 GMC truck and was given an estimate to replace two parts with three hours of labor for nearly $1,500 dollars. Needless to say, I wanted a second opinion so we paid the $100 diagnostic fee and he got the truck back to his place in limp mode. Buyer be aware... I did some simple researching online, bought the parts for less than half what they were charging, drove 3 hours and installed them in less than an hour.

After a small misunderstanding, Thomas (auto mechanic) quickly resolved the matter with a professional, upbeat attitude. My Subaru needed the radiator replaced. Fast, quick service...and so far so good on the replacement. Prices are decent and service was grand.

I went there for car inspections and was well taken care of. The manager? was very pleasant and helpful. Watching him could tell he was a go getter and seemed to be efficient and customer focused. It was a busy shop which is a good sign and I feel comfortable to bring my car back for service when needed after my brief time there.

Sent my college student there because of the good reviews and since we live far away. When she dropped it off, my husband spoke with workers over the phone and told them what he thought the issue was, but they insisted they needed to do a diagnostic to determine the problem. So My daughter left her car there an entire day and at the end of the day, they said they couldn’t find anything wrong with her vehicle and they needed another day to continue to look for the problem. I don’t understand how they couldn’t find the issue with all the equipment and an electrical technician on hand. All we did was google the car’s symptoms and we came up with a solution. Needless to say, my husband and I drove up 5 hours and fixed the issue in 30 minutes. The problem was exactly what we had told them in the first place. Someone said in another review that they put college student’s parents at ease because they are reliable, but they were far from that for us.The only positive things that came out of this is that we were not charged for the diagnosis and we got to see our daughter.

I went in because my truck was rough and missing, they put plugs in it and said I had 2 cylinders that were low on compression, I did the compression check at home and they were all good, took the vehicle to another shop and they figured out it was the distributor, This company didnt even have the decency to call me back after I told them it was running worse then before they changed the plugs

Timely car inspection. Nice staff, very helpful with a good sense of humor. First time in, was recommended from the 10min oil lube down the street. They arent doing car inspections right now due to Covid. So glad they recommend Reliable Automotive. Hope to send business their way! 😁

I came in for a brake bleed after replacing the brake pads. It was my first time doing brakes, so that was my mistake and I just wanted it to get done right. They told me I needed a new brake booster and master cylinder and that it would be like $1100! I went to Frank’s Automotive for a second opinion and, surprise surprise, it only needed the brake bleed for $130. I’ve had issues with Reliable before, and I’ll surely never go back!

I had an exhaust that I needed installed. I moved here from Houston and I dont have my tools here yet. The guys at Reliable took care of me in less than an hour. It was amazing. Reliable Automotive has been very valuable to our family! We live in Houston but our Daughter attends Texas State. When she has had a couple of car issues, David with Reliable Automotive took time to research the issues and call Dad with what needed to be done. This most recent visit her engine light came on and David told us she simply just needed an oil change. We are so far away from her it is nice to have a mechanic who is trustworthy and reliable!

We took our truck to David @ Reliable. The whole staff was amazing but David went out of his way to show us what the diagnostic found and the most important things to fix first. We had the whole diagnostic/flush done, he sent pics, was in contact with us the whole time and didnt do any work without talking to us first. He didnt try to sell us anything we didnt need, was honest about the few small issues he did find and there were no hidden fees. Looks like we have finally found our forever mechanics! A couple of months ago my sons car wouldn’t start, he couldn’t even get it to jump off, so he took it to Reliable Auto. I chose them based on reviews because I’m a big believer in word of mouth. They said it was the battery and replaced it. Car was fine for two months until it started doing the same thing again. He called reliable back up and explained everything to them and they picked it up, and checked the car again, for free! They said it was the battery again and that the sub is probably draining the battery. They replaced the battery, for free and told my son what to do to keep it from happening again. I thought it was really nice of them to do that for free; since it wasn’t their fault the battery was draining quickly. Hopefully they’re right and the battery will be long lasting once my son fixes the problem with the sub .

Price was incredibly reasonable as well.I thought there was something concerning going on after I got the car back, called them, and they told me to bring it back no questions asked.They even called me in the morning to check to see if I was still coming in. It tuned out to be nothing, but the took the time to check out my car, and make sure I was road safe.Absolutely blown away by the service.Thanks for getting me back on the road, Reliable!

I took my 8 year old car in for an oil change and maintenance checkup, and was very pleased with the service. They found a very small oil leak around the gasket and advised that they would watch it on future visits, but it did not need repair at this point. They were pleasant and professional and reasonable in cost.

I have never had work done, but I just called them and actually spoke with the owner of the automotive business. I had one of the most kind, friendly, and compassionate, customer services experiences that I have ever had. He not only price matched a Austin competitor here in San Marcos, but the owner went ahead and price matched a super low Groupon deal.I think this is the first review I have ever done, but after speaking with him, I thought it would be good to report this. Maybe this is why there was a long line of cars when my wife passed by earlier today.

Reliable is the perfect name for them. Its the only place I trust with my vehicle. I will share a short story. I used to have a Toyota 4 runner and only went to Toyota dealership for my vehicle services because you think thats whats best for your car right?! Well I felt my transmission was slipping but Toyota wouldnt honor the recall and said my transmission was fine. I thought I was going crazy so I went to reliable for my next oil change instead of my dealer just to see if they would notice something strange with my car while servicing it and sure enough, they finished my oil change and said Did you know your transmission is slipping?! He then said, I put a temporary fix in with the oil change to buy you some time until you decide what you want to do! I went back to Toyota outraged and got a new car obviously but bottom line Reliable saved me and now my new Subaru is only trusted in their hands! I love them and highly recommend them! Support good, honest, reliable local businesses!

Took my 2012 Audi in to get the AC serviced. Great guys, very trustworthy. However, the reason for the low rating was the expense of the diagnostic procedure. Already knew the AC wasnt working. Cost $220 to correctly diagnose the issue. Further $600 estimate to fix the issue. Took the vehicle to Bunker Automotive in Luling and fixed for $435. Again, Reliable is very trustworthy, just too expensive.

David Morales took real good care of my Truck. To every college kid that doesn’t know a lot about mechanics and needs somewhere you can trust; Reliable Automotive is the place for you! When I first moved to San Marcos, about 2 years ago, I needed a good mechanic and needed one pretty fast as my car was experiencing some problems. I found these guys by sheer chance and they have always been, as the name implies, reliable for my automotive needs. Mike and David have been the 2 gentlemen I have personally dealt with, but the entire shop is run by excellent mechanics and great customer service. Today I left feeling more than satisfied so I decided to shower them with the praise they deserve, and this review doesn’t come close. They have always been honest, competitive, and most importantly, have done a good job fixing my car. It’s hard to find a good mechanic shop, but I would not recommend anybody else for anything related to your vehicle. Thanks again to Mike and David for not only being customer service friendly, but honest about what your vehicle needs, and doing the job right and at a great price!!!

This place is the best! I get my oil changes here normally, but they are awesome on all services! I came in and brought my boyfriends car there because he changed his brakes and his lug nut bolts for at least one tire was completely stripped. They took care of it immediately, even though I came in at 5:30 and they closed at 6. They are very knowledgeable and king. Usually, people drag around and dont want to stay or do anything if its too time consuming. Not these guys! I didnt feel rushed or in the way. These guys are like family and will make you feel that way also. They are great and highly recommend!

Been going to Reliable for a good few years now. Service is always great and these guys work with you to help get you back on the road. Theyll let you know what the issue is and the degree of need of repair without making you feel pressured. They are open very early and offer great assistance for transport and pick-up if needed while your vehicle is in the shop.

I have been here twice and each experience has been great! Although I ended up trading my truck in because repairs were more expensive than trading it in for new vehicle, it was an excellent experience. Yes, my truck needed the repairs bad, but I was not in a good position to do it at the time. Everyone in the office was super helpful, engaging, and humorous! They even gave me a ride to work twice when I had to drop my truck off. Highly recommend them!

These guys are awesome. I had a failed coil in my mini one morning while I was trying to get to class and these guys fixed me up and took me to class so I wouldnt have to miss anything. This has probably been the most positive experience Ive ever had at an auto shop. Reliable got me in at the end of the day to get my car fixed after the building and area had been flooded out the day before. Even though my car was giving them trouble, they did everything to get it fixed and at 100%. They even stayed after hours to make sure everything was at 100%.Additionally, the lobby area was super clean and all that fun stuff (which is crazy since it was flooded the day before). The work was done at a wonderful price and just amazing hospitality and service. Super grateful for this place!

I was very pleased. They were courteous, straight forward, and reasonably priced. I’m happy knowing that I now have a mechanic in San Marcos that I can trust.

I took my vehicle to this shop to get an oil change and a general check a few weeks ago, the employees were all very polite and I felt fairly comfortable. I was informed that my struts were all completely worn out, the back right was blown and they would need to be replaced as they are all original to the car (a 2011 Honda). They quoted me at $1700 and advised me to have them replaced if I planned on continuing to drive the car. Luckily, my grandfather was a Honda mechanic for over 20 years and I usually go to him for repairs. He looked over my car and told me that the struts are completely fine and do not need to be replaced. Far from completely worn out. Thankfully I was not born yesterday and am generally skeptical and careful to not be taken advantage of based on my age/gender. Be aware if you take your vehicle to this shop.

Honest and very fair! I was here on vacation and my trucks throttle control went out. I limped from Wimberly on a Friday afternoon and spoke with them and they said it would be done that afternoon. David called me Saturday morning with bad news. The mechanic dropped the new throttle body and broke it and they couldn’t get one till Monday. Long story short I found one at a parts store in New Braunfels and went and got it. The tech Oscar went to work and got it done even though the computer wasn’t working he figured a work around by running a separate ground wire to the cpm. David was more than fair on the price I would even say he was kind light on it. These guys are good, nice and very honest!

EXTREMELY great service. Was referred by Discount tire after a mishap that they couldn’t repair. Reliable auto resolved this in a very timely manner. Best service, very courteous and helpful workers. As a young girl I’m not particularly an expert at car shops or repairs but they informed me very well of all the procedures needing to take place and kept updating me. Also as a college student with no vehicle for the duration of the repair, I asked if they could pick me up once my car was ready and they picked me up. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!!

I recently had 2 separate vehicles serviced at Reliable Automotive in San Marcos. The managers name was David and he absolutely made both experiences great. He was very customer service oriented but more importantly, he was open, honest and followed through on every detail. First thing to know, this shop will not accept any brought in oil or parts. Second thing to know, personally I was presented with a very high price quote for an oil and filter change. That said, compare prices from a few different shops before committing to spending your money here.

Horrible! I sent my college student because I live far away. They wanted to just rip him off! Seeing he was young and they do Not give free estimates. I do not recommend at all they didnt even try helping.

This is the only shop we will use in the Hill Country Area. Very professional company. If you have a student driving at Texas State, they put a parents worry to rest. These guys are the best. Our kids live in San Marcos and were so glad that we found a mechanic shop where they can drop off their vehicles and trust that the work needed will be done right and at a fair price. And, in a day when customer service is not a top priority at many businesses, we have always been treated friendly and politely by the staff.When picking up the vehicle in for service, they provide an update on it and let them know what services are needed and which need to be done right away or can be put off a little while to maintain the vehicle and keep it running like a charm (very important for vehicles ranging from 9 years old to 14 years old with high mileage).After several bad experiences with the Hyundai dealership where we purchased our SUV, we even put off servicing it until we can make it to San Marcos to have Reliable do it.Theyve been spot on with their quotes and time needed to get the job done so that were not hit with a big surprise bill or left waiting for hours (or days) when we drop off a vehicle. And, theyre great to drop us off at home, or wherever we like, while they work on our car and pick us up when its ready.We highly recommend Reliable!

These guys wanted to charge me $450 to replace two rotors and the brake pads! That is an absurd mark up for really not that much work. The only reason I went to them was because I did not have the time to do it myself.On the other hand they did fix my steering wheel issue and tire alignment for a cool $340.I do not appreciate being taken advantage of because of my age, this is age discrimination and I would think twice about giving them your business if you even look remotely young.

These guys are great! Didnt rip me off they do great work took my beater Honda in to get the wheel bearing fixed did it in two hours and offered to give me and my wife a ride to and from our house! Definitely recommend this place!
