This is a great place to pick up souvenirs beyond teaspoons, shot glasses and other kitsch. Not the cheapest place, but you get a lot more artistic variety and a more authentic flavor to the products. The staff is very helpful and friendly.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS.Ive seen first hand how the management treat their employees and customers and its not good. Its sad because its a beautiful store full of folk products and PR aesthetic/sentiment, but someone needs to say the truth.WARNING:They have awful/no returning and refund policies. MAKE SURE that whatever you buy isnt damaged or broken. Many of the products they sell, specially food and beverages, are absurdly overpriced. Most of their products (except genuine local artist pieces) you can find them on ANY sourvenir store. They annoy their clients all the time, giving unnecesary info about ANY detail about the products. They are desperate to sell you ANYTHING, all the time, they dont even let you breathe for a second with their selling skills. They are all over you, not letting you stroll through the store at your own pace.Lastly but not less important:The owners tend to be racist, dismissive with the LGTB+ community and women in general.Their emoloyees are polite but they seem to be overly pressured to sell anything and overwhelm the clientele.Had two experiences the same day that I went to this store:One of the owners was being rude and almost yelling to one of their employees in front of everyone. One of the old ladies (I believe was one of the owners) was commenting awful things about the hair color (purple) of a girl (prob lgtb+ or queer) that entered the store with her family.Disappointing experience
I read the reviews and was looking forward. When my husband and I walked up no greetings this old woman who works there very rudely tells me and my husband to put both of hands out that she needs to sanitize which is fine but the way she said it was like it bothered her. And then she tells us leave your mask on at all time. I really wanted to curse her out but I controlled myself since we walked from the pier of San Juan to this store. This miserable lady should not be working with the public. And plus the prices in this store were ridiculously overpriced. I wouldn’t spend one cent in this store.
One of the best stores if you want authentic Puerto Rican crafts and souvenirs!
I wasn’t able to make it back to the store and I regret it. I wish they had an online store because I would love to buy some of the Taino art.
Great customer service where the staff helped me select a handmade bracelet just for me. I loved the coqui rain sound effects. It looked like you were outside but still remained indoors. Great craft work. Id definitely recommend coming here from a break of the touristy shops and get a local taste of the island.
Looking for items not made in China and slapped with Puerto Rico on it? This is THE place. They have a host of various craft and food items Made in Puerto Rico. The prices are fare and the quality is great. The staff are very very helpful and explain each item with love.
Knowledgeable and helpful staff will be glad to inform you of locally made offerings. From pieces of art, to confections, coffee to typical style tourist gifts, they have a great selection of items. Also in easy walking distance to many historical sites, beautiful views and restaurant selections.
It was a very cozy place, the selection was limited but beautiful. Prices were high but none different than any other store in San Juan. But one must understand the art pieces are done by local artist which that in it self explains the price. When it comes to authentic Puerto Rican art pieces I rather pay more to support our own. It’s worth a visit.
Its okay. Most of the merchandise is typical. It can be found in most retailers in the area. Plenty of Taino art represented at this location.
Beautiful and amazing works of art in this store. However their claim everything is made in Puerto Rico is false. I bought two items that say made in the Dominican Republic on them in big letters just as I left the store.
I have been to both locations and had great experiences at both stores. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, all things are made by local puertoriqueños at reasonable prices (take into account the labor and talent it takes to make these crafts). They also sell incense sticks, which I just happened to be looking for that day. Also coffee made on the island and different types of snacks.
I visited this place and found a lot of old fashioned authentic candies. I grabed what it seems to be one of everything. My favorite was Dulces Surtidos which gave 24 of their best selection.
They had really cool t-shirts without the tourist like designs. Authentic merchandise throughout the store.
Very disappointing, we shopped here back in June . My 13 year old spent a reasonable amount of money only to get back to the ship and find the most expensive item missing. We contacted the store manager, who ensured us that the item would be mailed to us back home. Three phone calls and two months later, the item has still not been sent! If you decide to shop here PLEASE make sure you get what you paid for!!
Nice little store. There are a bunch of stores like this around the area with almost all the same stuff in them. So look around and compare prices some are cheeper then others.
Love this place... Best place to stop and purchase one of a kind items
Handcrafted Arts only created by Local Artisans, inspired over Historic Hindu Taino big selections.
Everything is made & designed by Puertorican artisans. The prices are fair and competitive. The materials are quality handcrafted and the personnel is very friendly.
Nice, and atmospheric. Cool Taino sculptures
My experience at Mundo Taino was extremely disappointing. I bought a statuette which I took great care on the flight back home. When I was home, I noticed a crack at the back which was obviously glued up and not something that the shop should have attempted to sell in the first place. When I attempted to return/settle this issue, the owner avoided my calls. I used my CC company and he provided elaborate disclaimers and insisted Id caused the damage. This fraud should be avoided altogether.
Great customer service and all arts and crafts are from local artists.
Food and service is excellent. Prices are reasonable.
Great service, reasonable prices and convenient location.
Best place to buy handmade souvenirs
Great customer service
Best shop
Love
Super
Excellent place to buy things from PR, worth the redundancy, taines.
After touring more than 30 countries I have the feeling that all souvenir shops are identical, they only change the name of the country or city you visit. However, in this store, they have different products. Expensive, although they say authentic and handcrafted.
So cute
Of all the gift shops I went to, this is where we were better served. They have different items that you wont find anywhere else. They focus a lot on the crafts of the Taínos.
