First and foremost, the staff is very helpful and friendly. Whenever I do shop in person, they always ask how I am doing and it feels genuine. The store is very small, but it has a surprising amount of items. If you think they may not have what you need, call ahead and check. They can order it for you or you can order from their website for pickup. Now, the business is a bit pricey, hence 4 stars), but considering they have no real competition around downtown and The Alameda, they do get to set the baseline. It is also a bit annoying that you cannot return other items from other ACE locations since local stores are franchises and they dont price the same. I am very grateful that this store exists.

The store was empty theres plenty of stuff I asked where the torches were I was pointed to the back when I walked all the way to the back I found them locked up it would have been helpful if the staff member had followed me back and unlocked them rather then make me go all the way back up to the front and asking her to unlock them

Nice, convenient, small store. Good selection of common hardware. Lighting is not great in the back of the store, service is friendly but sometimes very slow. I go there fairly frequently and recommend it, especially if youre not in a hurry.

Great customer service! The gentleman (had an arm sling) that helped me out was super helpful. I went in for a weber grill and he helped me find the exact one I wanted. I will he going to this location for anything I need in the future.

Live above this store, and on my way back from work swung by to pick up shower curtains. I get half way into the store where a very nice employee asked if they could help me find anything. As I was about to answer an older employee with a goatee cuts off the conversation and asks me to leave my backpack (containing my laptop) outside. I remember getting this treatment in high school, not in my 30s. Is it the policy to make everyone check their purses too? Not going to leave my laptop outside or with strangers. Feel free to accompany me next time if you’re that worried about theft when I am one of 3 customers in the store. Immediately left.

These guys rock everyone is awesome except one guy...bro ease up you dont have to be rude about stuff...quit if you dont like your job, everyone else is over and above the normal standard of customer service!!

It seemed that the young staff at the store on the Alameda in SJ had better things to do today-such as talk amongst themselves and text on their phones, than to help customers find things.Only when I finally spoke with employee Oscar did I get outstanding Ace level customer service. He took me to where the replacement parts are kept, and made sure I got the correct one.

The Helpful hardware person got me the proper tools for my job.Parking is a bit confusing, in the middle of the building there is what looks like tenant parking for the apartments above, but there is also parking for the first floor stores on the street level. Just follow the signs to Ace.

I called first, to see if they had soak hoses. The man on the phone said yes.We showed up, we recognized each others voices. I reminded him of the hose needed, took me right to it.Mom decided which two to buy.We were in and out 5-7 minutes.Very knowledgeable and friendly

Parking is a little more difficult than most Ace stores. Placed an order online and it was ready quicker than I thought. The staff was very quick to get my order when I arrived. I was in and out. Very nice!

Store employees dont understand basic math.I bought a product worth $15.99+tax by paying $10.99(+tax) cash and a $5 coupon.I was told coupon would still work if I exchanged for another item.When I bought a $14.99 I was given a credit of $10.99 (sales tax for product1 was not refunded)and charged an additional $4+tax. The store employee argued that the coupon was still applied as their math was right. If coupon was active I should have spent $14.99-$5=$9.99 - $10.99(credit)= - $1. Weird how my math works different from theirs.

Ace has been the go-to now that Lowes and OSH are gone. Its easy to navigate, has knowledgeable and helpful stuff, and has more inventory packed in there than you would think. Closer too. Should have tried them earlier. Parking isnt always easy, but during Cocid it has been.

Nice urban hardware store. Yes, they do have parking in a crowded urban setting. There is an parking lot with a number of limited spaces and a well marked door leading to the tunnel ( felt like I was walking thru a bunker). This leads you out to the street and Aces front door is to the left. Store is compact with a varied assortment of supplies. Much is on high shelves, so if you dont see what you want just ask one of the friendly associates. Unlike other Aces they dont have an outdoor area so some larger materials (i.e. lumber, plants, etc) may be limited. They were even open on July 3rd (the 4ths observed holiday).

Better than lowes and Home Depot.

New store 0n the ground floor level of a new apartment building. There is currently no parking location advertised for this store, there are however a few street parking spots out front. Normally, it will take a walk to get to the store with illegal parking in either the CVS or Whole Foods parking lot.The store has a wide variety of items. The prices seem a bit high, but as it is now our closest hardware store sometimes its easier to stop here.

Might not be the size of a lowes or home depot but its got everyone one needs. Great fastener selection in SAE and metric, quality tools.

What a horrible experience. It’s scary enough to leave the house. Stood around waiting for the rude associate to come back and help as he said he would. Had to look for him. When I got to the counter, another associate decided to tell me that my mask won’t help and decided to give me advice. I’ll never come back to this store which is a shame because it’s my local hardware store that I like to do business with instead of shopping at Home Depot or Lowe’s.

This place is great! Tons of things crammed in there, I was able to find hardware for a couple dozen large capacitors I have, and today bought a slime bike tube for my bike. They have tons of bicycle stuff. Lots of tools, too. This place may actually be better than the old OSH on San Carlos, because this has less patio decor nonsense and more hardware store type things.

Hidden away in plain site, who knew there was still an Ace left to keep the neighborhood sopplied. Orchard and all the other Aces gave in to the Giant Hardware Corps. This one even had the liggt bulb to two prong adapter i needed for my Christmas light.

Helped me find what I needed when I couldnt. The staff are friendly and saved me some money too. This is very convenient for those folks loving in the area, especially with large Lowes and Orchard Supply Hardware closing recently.
