The parking lot was full and a lot of products didnt have a price - for example sodas (I needed to ask staff what the price of something). One big price label on the whole sodas would be sufficient. Another bad thing is that there is not a lot of 99cent shops in the Bay Area!Everything else was great - especially that you can buy here most of the same products, which are for example in Target but with much better price - sometimes 99 cents is more than 50% cheaper than Target (yeah, Im talking about exactly same products, which are not on any deal!)

Lots of people shopping everytime. Lots of items and food for 99 cents. Popular name brand stuff is more expensive from $1.99 - $4.99. Love going here but go when u have time. Lines are very long (usually)Sometimes the people are a little sketchy, all walks of life, but have seen 2 arguements/ fights in the parking lot.

Lines usually take a good 10 minutes before checking out. Ive seen lots of employees but not usually at the register

What happened to this place? I saw a cold hearted manager today. She was not friendly at all and no smile. I felt so sorry for the old lady, one of the customers was trying to have a conversation, but she got a cold face, almost ignored by this store manager.The item on the far right is $3.49, they charged me $4.99 for it.

You can tell the postings that are put on there by the store themselves its only obvious that they are not posted by an actual customer and every single response that was responded to a customers posting sounded the same thank you for your feedback I hope to be the best 99 cent store around one day thats all they keep saying

I love the .99cents Store you can save a lot of money shopping at this place,especially the fresh vegetables! There are packaged cold luncheon meat like ham and turkey to make sandwiches but it cost around $4.99 for a package ! Still a bargain ! Lots of gift items and household items like soap,canned goods and bathroom cleaning supplies !

The 99 cent store on San Carlos street in San Jose CA, is ran by a very pleasant and knowledgeable manager. Shes personal and a very hard worker . The store is clean and pretty much in order. The 99cent store has a well of treasures. You can find very unusual items. They have salad, walnuts, bathroom rugs, bath towel and Christmas decorations, they also have dog supplies, toiletries, party items and drinking water and tons of fruits and vegetables. They also have a pretty decent variety of frozen food like pizza and hors doeuvres. I give the 99cent store five stars because when the leader is strong the employees are happy which means happy shoppers.

This place is different. You never know what you could find. Never disappointed. The customers are a difference group. If this place does not have what you want, today just wait till the next trip. You will walk out with a smile... look at what I got for 99 cents up.. never the same twice... it is A class by it self. Worth a try out.

Christmas decorations cheaper than anywhere else. Also small toys for those who go through theirs fast. I always come here for garbage bags and disposable table ware. Always low prices but the quality is not the best

I love the 99cents Only stores, but the San Jose store is too small, crowded and not enough parking. There are great bargains here. I usually drive out of my way to shop at the San Leandro store which is spacious and well lit. There are still long checkout lines at all the stores, but the savings are worth the wait.

It has good deals prices. But they do not have some of the items sometime. So supply is not very good

This is a great store. They have farm fresh fruits and veggies. I go there all the time, sometimes twice a week. The employees are nice and very helpful. There is always new products. On the week-end I was there and there was a new product in the chips area. I purchased two bags. Yesterday (7-17-18) I went back and got 5 bags. A lot of times if you go back for more its gone. I was nice I left one bag on the shelf for the next person 😃. I get to try new products at a low cost. You will love this store. Its always nice and clean. Nice shopping music playing for your enjoyment😍.

This is probably the only extreme discount retailer which contains fresh produce. The price of fresh fruits and vegetables are rock bottom and quality is good too. Nice selection for people who are looking for a vegan diet on a budget. Most of the daily essentials are available here. Some of the items are more than a dollar but most of them are a screaming deal. Many of the items which are carried are named brand and not just some unknown brand. All in all either you will get what you pay for or a very good deal. Parking is a bit of a problem here but you can always find street parking.

A very interesting experience for me personally that Im overseas, I could get many different goods and when I moved via the cashier I had been amazed at the entire $! In addition, I ought to mention the support is fantastic!

Love this dollar store because they have vegetables.

First time coming here and I gotta say mostly everything was so cheap. I liked because it has a food/veggies section like frozen strawberries, blueberries, bananas. The blueberries pack is cheaper than other grocery outlets, so its better to get it here. Now Im definitely coming here more often because of the prices here are much more affordable. Everyone was friendly and the cashier was too. Also, I found portabella mushrooms in the least place I expected to find them and I was so glad I did. I was amazed at all the food, veggies, appliances, etc that I found there.

Excellent selection of 99 cent items- including fresh produce(& ice), basic home & kitchen needs as well as a few things for your pet. There are products that do exceed 99 cents, but I have found that they are usually worth the slightly higher price. They seem to restock on Mondays and Wednesdays (& maybe Friday?)- making those the best days to shop. Sunday is the worst day to shop - seeing as the place gets picked clean over the weekend. This is my favorite discount store in the bay area and the produce section alone makes it worth a visit.

This hidden gem has been a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and is less than 2 miles from downtown SJ.If you are having a convention in the area and need pens, stationary and small items, I suggest getting down and saving a bunch of money...and looking GREAT with the boss with all the savings!This location has fresh veggies and fruit, sold by the pound. There is also a new enlarged DAIRY/Frozen area which has milk, eggs, breakfast items and a host of other items you never thought youd see. 99¢ only does have a very LARGE list of name brand items you see at larger stores, for a smaller price.Please note: lines can be VERY long at lunch hour, and they are constantly short staffed, meaning only 1 or 2 registers will be open. The parking lot is good sized, but often filled and is very busy. There is limited street parking both on San Carlos or Brooklyn Street.

Nice store but there is too much rush at times!

This place is great because you can get so much including name brands and save a ton of money. My #1 thing is produce, I wish I knew when they get their truck and put out their produce because on the few times Ive been lucky enough to drop by when they have stocked produce bins it is AMAZING. Great deals on Organic produce too. The BIGGEST turn off here is the lines, there only 1 or 2 checkers open so the lines back up like crazy. ALSO, PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE BERRIES. I see stacks and stacks of boxes of blueberries, strawberries, blackberries all going bad on the sales floor. Maybe refrigerate them? I love the deals on BERRIES but when theyre all bad you just struggle to find a good pack. Plus its such a waste to see them rot away. Im sure people would buy them if only they were kept refrigerated so they wouldnt get moldy. ): 🍒🍓

Wide selection for a dollar store. Has a few items over $1. Lots of food and baby items.Large amount of fresh vegetables and refrigerated goods, sometimes has organic salad. Got a bag of bell peppers here once that never went bad...Milk and eggs are sold by gallon/dozen, about $3-4.Parking lot is small and often blocked by semi trucks offloading. I prefer to park on the street.

This 99¢ store is like most dollar stores in that it has a wide variety of household items at a good price point (storage bags, personal care products, and household cleaners are always good values here). The food and produce at this store is where it stands out. Id say a good half of the store is focused on foods and a nice selection of fresh fruits and veggies!!! Yes, I havent seen that in other stores at this price point. The produce is sometime near its use date (and then discounted even more). There are some items that are more then 99¢ so do pay attention to signs and at check-out. This place has a large variety of products including, vegetables, fruit, dairy, canned goods, drinks, household items, and seasonal items. Most item at $0.99, some items are more but they are marked. Some items are worth more than $0.99 if in perfect shape but they maybe out of date or slightly imperfect. Sometimes it can be quite crowded, but the other customers are very nice and considerate. The parking lot gets a lot of use and is starting to show it.

I went in at first hour, lets say 8:10 am or so, rushing as I had to get to work in time. I only needed plastic cutlery, so that was quickly taken care of and I rushed to the cashier. She was folding one small candy cardboard box with the uttermost slowest pace that one could take. I greeted her good morning, and asked if she was open, (you know) to give her an idea that I was in a hurry. And she had a terribly rude attitude and proceeded to take her time to move and get to the register, which was one step away. I asked why she was being so rude, after I asked her that I was trying to get to work early and I had asked for her help with that, and why was she acting like that? She said Like what? And stopped working or registering my stuff, (or however one says it). What an terrible experience and way to start one day, Lord Almighty!! Why do these people get customer service jobs?? I pointed it out to the manager, who looked at me but did not offer an apology or any type of comment. Terrible, but awful customer service on that womans part!!

Refrigerators are not keeping food cold enough.

It depends on the manager. Today we were there and last week on Friday. Last week Friday, they had robes with no tag on them. One lady said they cost $5.99. Another lady said $4.99. When we went to the cashier, she gave them to us for $1. Today, my mom asked the cashier how much the robes? He asked the manager. She said $5.99. I asked again? She said $4.99. I told her last week it was only $1. And now you decide to change the price. Ridiculous. I was exchanging an item I had. So the manager gave me an attitude about it on why I want to return the item? If it isnt marked with no scanner, it should be 99 cent. Not some b.s. made up numbers on the price. That is dishonest.

They do not have a bike racks or any safe place that i can lock my bicycle in. Unsafe area (last time somebody stole my bike lights and manager said i will not check my cameras for just a light), and you should wait for a long time in check-out lines. I really do not feel safe in this store. Guards are not always there. Some staff can not speak English and ....

I started to go to this store after seeing a lot of youtubers doing a haul video from 99 cents stores in their area. I like this store, good value of products for the money you spend and now I am a regular shopper over there every week. Christmas decoration collections are awesome. The only reason I took off one star is due to the homeless people outside the door and I was uncomfortable selecting the plants outside.

Rare 99¢ Only Stores in San Jose with next closest in Milpitas. In Southern Cal there are 99¢ Only Stores everywhere! There is fresh fruits & veggies section along with frozen & refrigerated section in rear of store. Please note: Few items marked MORE than 99¢ with slightly better merchandise assortment vs Dollar Tree down the street.

I really like shopping here for unexpected name brand finds and specialty items for a lot less I come to shop here first and what I cant find to meet my families needs I get from the regular market..its great if you have to feed your man and his brothers and there kids lol.😬

The PA system was used brilliantly! Hahahahaha At one point a page went out to the entire store Who left their baby alone by the front door? When another employee broke in with Does anyone have the phone number for CPS?I havent been this entertained at a 99 cent store EVER!

I understand the employees are overworked and underpaid. I get that. They could hire or two more cashiers to man the empty checkouts so the lines arent so long. Dont tell me they cant afford to because they sell massive volumes of items every single day. Its on the owner of the store as well as on the management to properly allocate enough personnel to keep the place functioning. I am polite and pleasant with the employees when I shop here, so any moodiness or rudeness on their part wasnt a reaction to me. Seems like they dont bag things for you and expect the customers to do that themselves once theyre done taking payment then the next customers items start getting slid near yours. This doesnt happen everytime but it does happen occasionally. The item selection is pretty decent though not as good as the Dollar Tree. Each shop carries certain items the other doesnt, so this is probably the reason. There are things of utility one is more likely to find here, such as baby wipes (good if you find toilet paper too abrasive). I dont live near this location however I do shop here when Im visiting friends in this area and need something 99 Cents Only carries. If they had more cashiers on duty running all the checkouts during busy times (long lines), Id give this location 4 stars 😀👍 [the crying smiley emoji in the photo is an item I bought at 99 Cents two days before posting this review]

Store carries great variety of household items, fresh produce. Better than Dollar store

The outside and inside is not the cleanest looking. The staff not the friendliest, but not really rude either. There were some products worth purchasing.

You can always find something you might need for 99.99 cents, whether its food, snacks, candy, school supplies, fresh veggies, medical supplies, holiday decorations and so on. Just check the expiry date and where its made if thats an issue with you. We all like to save money where possible.

They have produce for a steal! Would help of there were more parking spaces. Spaces are also compact so parking is a chore. It would help if they would stock items that are good movers rather than a the large selection of knick-knack that take up the space in such a small store.

This store has various products and at a good price, but it is a very busy place and only one person or sometimes two people attend the cash registers and there is too much waiting at the time of payment.

This store is OK.

For starters this is the 99 CENT STORE and their employees are likely over worked and paid minimum wage so when you shop here do expect long lines and dont expect that anyone bee in the greatest mood because other customers arent nice to them.Their parking lot is tiny and usually over crowded.The store itself is a fairly small location but has a lot of products to offer and is fairly well organized for the space and amount of things that are packed in there. They have a really large variety of certain tastic products. Theres a very good selection of produce for example.Bottom-line is you get what you pay for. If youre gonna shop here and youll save a lot of money on some great things but just know that you need to allow time to park, allow time to stand in line and dont contribute to the aggravation that several of their customers like to bring to the atmosphere.

I just shopped there and found this is the best time to shop, mid month on a late Sunday. I got pound cake and strawberries & blueberries. My salads & dressings, veggies, and variety of juice. Even our doggies got their treats too!

April 20th I go in for my usual 9:30 p.m. shopping to avoid the crowds. I get greeted by a snotty youngster who sneers at me and tells me theyre closed. I said its not 10 yet and they said we close at 9. News to me. I come here a lot. Its not even that its the sneer. So I looked it up on Google and it said closes soon which means it shouldnt be closed. So I yell through the door and told the girl next time she was snotty to someone she should check the website. It says youre open I said.

The store is total chaos, its always packed and takes forever to get out of there. The workers seem friendly but the cashiers dont really say much to you unless they seem to know you. I go there when Im in the area out of convenience.

They always have good items to choose from. They have fresh produce which is nice, usually delivered on Tuesdays. Lines can be long for checkout only down Point besides parking lot

Great place to find cheap deals! They have a small grocery section where you can get really cheap produce!! They have shipments I think 3 -4 times a week so you can visit multiple times throughout the week and theyll have new things. Awesome selection of items ranging from household items to electronics. Im just sad that its the only 99 Cents Only Store within the area. Theres plenty of Dollar Trees but you wont find the name brand deals that you can find at an 99 at a Dollar Tree.The downsides to it is the parking b/c it can get pretty crowded at times and it can be difficult to find parking. Another thing is that the lines can get pretty long sometimes, so even if youre planning for a quick stop to just pick up something it might still be a 5+ min wait in line.Dont forget to pack your reusable bags!

My experience at the 99 cents store was pathetic. The cashier on #1 looked like she didnt take her meds. All that I said was that the pomegranates were rotten and right away she said oh Im only the cashier, instead of being politely saying Ill talk to my manager. She was so hasty,rude and nasty. That was my experience at that store. I wanted to return all the 56 dollars that i spent there. But I saw the big line behind me . Also dont know why they only had two cashiers with so many people.

I went to this place specially to get birthday banner. Unfortunately they didnt have much stock. The stock they had was for kids. I ended up going to another place.

This place is great if your in school and are on a tight budget. You can get various food items as well as household goods. Very cheap an easy to get in and out . The staff are very well mannered never have had a problem with being rude or anything.

I went there yesterday and had horrible customer service. The cashier didnt put items in my bags and I had to go all the way back, wasting my time to inform them of their issues. Of course, the phone line was busy when I tried to call before going there. They definitely have some issues that they need to deal with and stop wasting customers time.

Over all, I do like the 99 cent stores.This particular one just seems overcrowded, its hard to get through the aisles.The handicap Parking is challenging and they usually have some solicitor of the phones near the one handicap that you cant access. This particular store Im a little disappointed in.

Because most items are 99 cents and they have regular name brands, not generic/no name brands. Plus they have produce, fruits and refrigerated items such as milk and eggs, cold meats and so on.
