This is a repost of my review on Yelp! My customer service experience with Hometown Medical Supply in San Jose has been great. My 93 year old mother was ordered a new walker by her PT /OT team and Hometown delivered it to her house. The first walker ordered was too large, so hometown delivered a new smaller walker to her. No problem. The new walker was not configured like we needed it, and Hometown quickly gave us the parts we needed. Now some people may consider 3 tries to get the right configuration a fail, but I dont know what was ordered. What I do know is that Hometown has been accommodating and willing to work with us, and that is a huge plus in my book.
It’s an awful service I have ever encountered. If you want a good medical supply you can by ask your doctors. Never to this people.
HORRIBLE SERVICE! Office girls are rude and hang up on you after waiting on hold forever. Technitions are untrained, un certified with questionable backgrounds(criminals/undocumented). Lalit only cares about money Not the patient! Ive had to buy tires for my wheelchair for the last 2 years because they cant get the job done. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!
Answering Service is awful. I waited 57 minutes, then hung up. I was on the phone on my way to a luncheon. Had to hang up when I got to the restaurant. Tried again on my way home. Finally, got someone to answer after being on hold for 54 minutes. I have had to continually call the company concerning my mothers wheelchair. After one year, the company informed me that Medicare had rejected the claim and they were coming to repossess the wheelchair. My mother requires a wheelchair as per her orthopedic surgeon and primary care physician. They said that they forgot to tell me. They told me when I requested her brake on the wheelchair to be fixed. Then Home Town Medical Supply said No problem. We are coming for the wheelchair. Medicare rejected the wheelchair request.. I had the physician re-submit the request in November 2017. On January 11, 2018, I called (57 min. and 54 min. wait times), and was informed that Medicare wanted more information. Really? I have been informed that I should get a call in 3 weeks from Home Town Medical Supply. I plan to call in 3 weeks on Feb. 1. I dont think I can rely on Home Town Medical Supply. In the meantime, I will be contacting Medicare on my mothers behalf. Also, my father died on November 11, 2017. Having to continually follow-up with Home Town Medical Supply has been an added stressor.
The rehab center my dad was released from used this company to order a toilet seat raiser w/handle for him almost 2 months ago. First they sent a foot support for him (????), then after more than 20 phone calls and follow-ups from me and weeks later they sent another wrong item (a toilet seat without the handle). To make the story short I had to drive 16 miles each way (4 times) to return this wrong item, and follow-up to get items we needed (which at the end it never happened, because of their bad customer service, different excuses and fraudulent ways) . For your sake dont waste your time with them.
They Do not answer phone calls and are ALWAYS, as their message states, away at lunch, even after their promised return at 1:00PM. We have been waiting WEEKS for a hospital bed to be delivered and have not been able to reach them at all. NO STARS-
Needed to get a transport wheel chair for my father. Was told to contact Hometown medical supplies as they are the only ones in my area that excepts insurance. Apparently all others operate out of pocket only.I looked them up on Yelp and gave them a call. There was 3 people on the line ahead of me, the automated answering service stated I had 4 minutes or less to wait. The automated answering service started counting down backwards once it hit one minute its started counting back up I ended up waiting 40 minutes for someone answer the phone. 0 stars for answering service. When I finally spoke to a receptionist they told me to come on by so I looked them back up on Yelp unfortunately Yelp had the wrong address and I ended up at an empty building..not sure who to give 0 stars to for that one. (Google has the corrected information) When I arrived I was greeted immediately and helped out, unfortunately for me I had the wrong prescription slip but they said they would call my doctor and get it straightened out they also promise to deliver the wheelchair to our house if needed 5 stars... Ill follow up with an update when we get the chair.
This company helped me get a manual wheelchair. Im a paraplegic in the manual chair Im using at the moment is falling apart and causing undue stress and pain in my joints and body. I notified the company within 2 to 3 days that the chair was unusable for me. I was given very little help or inspiration that the situation could be resolved easily and quickly. The wheelchairs that are offered now are made completely different from the quickie I got around nine or 10 years ago. I cant believe that a company would rather stick a disabled man with a chair that is totally unusable for myself. Im in total discussed that Im having to deal with this and that hometown medical supplies as barely contacted me or tried to resolve this matter. I would suggest that anyone that wishes to use them for medical supplies, find a company that values their customers and understands and knows how to quickly and clearly help their customers. I strongly caution anyone who may want or think about using Im tell medical supplies for any reason.
This company has had its issues in the past. Mostly with relocation, some staff issues. But after 4 yrs. Of maintence repairs on a 10yr. Old chair. Today Im am happy with my new 2019 Quickie 700.They knew my needs required more than just a chair. Mine reclines, leg lifts, and the fact that it goes 5 miles a hour, is awesome. Im very outdoorsy kind of person. And comfort is key. Thank you to all the staff at Hometown Medical Supplies.
This company worked hard to get what I needed. Thank You so much Hometown Medical Supplies
Because I received great service on repairs to my manual wheelchair, I decided to use Hometown Medical for repairs to my power wheelchair. Unfortunately this experience was not positive. My experience with Hometown Medical for repair of my power chair was a morass of poor communication between technician, scheduler, front office staff, and customer. I found Hometown Medical unprofessional and unwilling to communicate about diagnostics, repairs, billing and delivery. They took the wheelchair, kept it for over a month, and then brought it back working, but what they did to it during that time is still a mystery.Hometown Medical first diagnosed the wheelchair on 6/18/13 and the chair was returned to me repaired on 7/23/13. While they had the chair, I initiated most of the communication and follow up. It was as if the chair had fallen into a black hole. I was concerned that I may never see the chair again. After 3 weeks, I bought another chair to use. When they finally returned the chair, they did not provide an invoice with a breakdown of charges. In fact, they provided no receipt/invoice describing the repairs at all. So Im unclear about what was actually done to repair the chair.
Never got to a live voice. my call was #8 with a call wait time of 12 minutes. Got clear down to #1/2 min wait and was promptly booted back to # 11 and a new time for the wait was 12 min. 30 minutes later I have jumped back from 3 minute wait time to #11 and ....you get the idea.
Ive been trying to get the motorized wheelchair they brought me fixed for almost a year now. The one they brought me has a problem with steering which has been dangerous at times. Im going to again report them to MediCare. Next time Ill go elsewhere. The phone system is lousy, if you can even get through.
Does not answer the phone, main customer service line says disconnected, alternate line will keep you on hold for 10 minutes before clicking off. I have left a message and am waiting for a call back.
Exasperating experiences. Rarely do they return phone calls. My Doctors office called me and said they had just gotten off the phone with Hometown and they were delivering the Gel Overlay for the bed tomorrow, Saturday and I should call them. I called and someone said it was not approved and they are waiting for the paperwork from my Doctors. When I said I had just got off the phone with my Doctors office who had just gotten off the phone with Hometown and said it would be delivered tomorrow by Hometown, they didnt know what I was talking about! By then my Doctors office was closed for the weekend. On Tuesday I called Hometown and left a message to call me and in the meantime I had received an email from someone at Hometown that my Doctor needed to submit certain forms to apply to Medicare. They were asking for the original filing which had already been done months ago! So Wednesday when I was deciding what to do next, I went out for lunch break because I am 80 years old and disabled and chasing after Hometown exhausts me. When I got back from lunch, guess what? A big box had arrived with the Gel Overlay. Oh my god, how does this company stay in business? I will add my experiences with the bed frame fiasco later as it was worse than the Gel Overlay fiasco but Im too tired now.
Had a question for the company and no one picked up. Called twice and was hold for over 10 minutes each time. Eventually sent to voicemail and it was full!
Probably the worst experience I’ve ever had dealing with an owner however their mechanics staff are very friendly and helpful but the owner tried to break Medicare guidelines by telling me “the parts that you need for your Power chair are more expensive than a new one so how about I just order you a new one“ so I called Medicare to make sure that this was OK and they said actually that would be in violation of Medicare guidelines but I did not report them mainly because of how kind and awesome the mechanic technicians were Basically all in all what I’m trying to say is avoid going to them at any cost
This is a horrible business with no heart. My father, who has prostate cancer that is in his bones, was released from a rehab center. Unfortunately they used this company to order a toliet, a wheelchair and a trapeze. Because of the incompetence of an individual who works in their San Jose store, my father has now been at home for two weeks without any of this equipment. He has had to use diapers and a bed pain because he cant make it to the bathroom. This person has promised the equipment would show up several times but it never does. If you love the person who is sick or disabled DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
WORST PLACE FOR A WHEELCHAIR DO NOT GO HERE AT ALL, they’re really rude they brought me a wheelchair i didn’t even ask for and my back rest wasn’t even installed rite and they couldn’t even fix it the wheelchair was scratched up I do not recommend at all they was even saying I was dumb because I wouldn’t take my own measurements for the wheelchair I just didn’t want to be responsible for a mistake they did or I measured wrong.
Horrible experience. They sent a camode that we dont need and I spent over a week trying to call them to return it. Theyre phone system never worked and kept saying theyd be with me in 1 minute, then 3 minutes later theyd say theyd be with me in 3 minutes. Once I waited for 20 minutes and the remaining wait time climbed to 30 minutes. So ridiculous that its almost comical!
So far this guys are horrible, unprofessional, the receptionist by the name of “ Melinda “ is horrible don’t want to give details but I give them 0 star!
The staff at Hometown Medical are the best, they go all the way to help you with your problem and fix it very fast. Great job
This place of business is poor management, I’ve had 3 low air loss mattresses and each one has deflated and you can’t get coperation from them, management won’t return your call, totally ignores you and tells the employees there to tell you there not swapping out any mattress even though it’s endangering someone’s life to sleep on a deflated bed, this is bad business and I’m to the point of going further to get satisfaction on this
Dont waste your time
Sat on the phone two times for 25 minutes and no one ever answered. What an unprofessional company!!
Excellent people with the know how to do what needs to be done
Please answer your phone!
This is a horrible mmml
