I recently bought one of Johns violin bows, and am very happy with it. He was very accommodating and let me try many of them, and trial a couple at home. The playability is great, sound is clear and projecting, with good quality. The craftsmanship is outstanding, with meticulous attention to detail. I have tried many of the best known antique french bows. His bow is an upgrade from the Nurnberger I was using (its now a good, back up bow). If you are in the market for a fine bow, you should try his.
Need a new bridge for my violin so I called John. He doesnt handle bridges but was happy to point me in the right direction
Im very happy I found John to rehair my bow. He did an excellent job, at a very reasonable price and same-day turnaround time, no less. Fine craftsmanship and great customer service.
Thank you very much John for the great job you did again, it’s not the first time, on my bow, I warmly recommend your more than excellent work as well as your own creation. Please try his bows, they are amazing!
John is such a pleasure to work with, so knowledgeable and you can tell by looking at his shop and speaking to him how much he values the work he does. Were so lucky in this city to have a fine bow maker who charges so reasonably for the work John does. His turnaround time is great. He even generously gave me pointers on another antique bow I brought in and educated me on aspects of bow making and appreciation. Im a customer for life
Really liked the high quality bows!
Top quality and amazing customer service. He made my old bass bow feel like a brand new bow -- the best its ever played and sounded!
Amazing artisan!
The best rehair I’ve ever had! John does a fantastic job and I would recommend him to anyone!
Had a great experience getting my bow rehaired - John was able to finish within two days, and my bow looks & plays great!
Great CX (Customer Experience) with having my two bass bows rehaired with black horse hair. Mr. Greenwood cares about his work at a granularity that is down to the very fine details. He is great to work with and was flexible with his turnaround times. TBH I felt a bit embarrassed taking my bows in as the level of care I have given my bows has a lot to be desired. Its great to have a master craftsman rehair my bows and instill the importance of how bows enhance the overall musical experience. Keep up the brilliant work sir your light is shining through as you make this world an enhanced musical place!!
John is a gifted bowmaker whose work is of the absolute highest quality. Ive seen first-hand the beauty of his bows. Ive had 2 bows rehaired by him and his meticulous attention to detail is amazing. I wouldnt entrust a quality bow for rehair to anyone else but him.
Wonderful workshop hidden in SF. Rehairs are very reasonably priced. You can tell that he loves what he does. I also bought a bow from him while getting mine rehaired. He also has a selection of bows from other makers.
Brought in my sons 3/4 bow a year ago for a rehair and John noticed it was bent. He fixed it and rehaired it all in one day. My son was so happy with his bow as it was like new again.Last week, dropped off my sons new full size bow for a rehair. My son instently noticed how much better it plays harmonics. Soo happy with Johns work!!! Its a 2 to 3 hours drive for us to Johns shop from the Centeral Valley but Johns workmanship makes it all worth the trip! Very happy customers! Thanks a ton John!!
