Prepare for lines and half baked service. This location basically runs a skeleton crew, so don’t come thinking your going to have a hassle-free, pleasant experience. Also try and dodge being hassled by all the “local workers” they let roam the property.

Patience is what you need here. There is only 1 person in the morning at rush hour. It takes ~10min to check in 1 person. You wait so long you have time to write a review here.But the staff is good.

Worst incident with U-Haul Rental. It started at 5 am when my partner and I pledged to leave San Francisco on the way to Long Beach. When we still in Sf, we have noticed that we need to add fuel. We go to the closest gas station around our house in sf and also to the U-haul rental as well. All that happening at 5:30 am. After few minutes my partner started to hear the gas spelling/ leaking dramatically from underneath the truck. It was about two gallons worth of gas. We called the fir department in order to avoid any fire hazard . We also called the road assistant that belongs to U-Haul since the office hours didn’t started yet. The Road assistant showed up quickly and direct us to follow him to the location of U-haul in bay shore. He has to start to fix the car on the curb since the company hasn’t opened yet. Nevertheless, he diagnosed the problem that a hose has been disconnected if the tank, so that when we fell up the gas it went to the ground and not to the tank.The Mechanic was so helpful and professional. Shortly the rental office open at 7 am. I went to them and my partner to report the problem and to fell up our gas tank from their location. Additionally, I was looking for some compensation since we are 3 hours behind in schedule and we will inevitably hit the morning traffic.Michal the manager was extremely rude. After my first two sentences explaining what happen, he was already accusing me that I am giving him attitude (after two sentences).Well, let’s assume that I am giving him attitude. I have been up since 4 am getting ready for my trip, and yes, I was cranky because of the whole delay. Don’t we all have to deal with that when we accept to be a manger and get payed for it.I have reported him to customer service and I hope he will be out of his job soon.

We rented a U-Haul truck and 8x8 storage unit yesterday. Employee Teanisha and the other staff we encountered were helpful and friendly. Teanisha walked us through the storage unit process, andher help made our moving process easy. We found the facility clean and well organized.

Waited 15 minutes outside for propane was told 2x by different people someone would come by. But others were available. I assume the people need to be trained on how to use the propane system, but it might make sense for them to have the standing around person go take over for the propane person so they could come and help at the propane area. Poor workload planning. I left and went to Lowes, its a little bit more expensive but quicker

Unfortunately there are not to many options for renting a truck, and this one really sucks! Customer service make your life even worst when they should help you out! So make sure you try to find another option or location... This one its not recommend at all.

Despite their website saying 24 HOUR CUSTOMER RETURN, there is NOT. had to find a place to street park our large rental overnight, which in San Francisco was not easy..3 stars because service was exceptional.

A very long wait on the weekends. A long return process on a weekday. Very nice employees. I found it easier to chat online with them if I needed anything additional than to call. As for payments if you have a credit card use that it makes the payments easier than debit cards. Because theres a delay on their end and they think you owe more than you do.

Ordered a tow hitch, made an appointment, got a confirmation, drove there with two cars to drop off, then was told the part was backordered and the online system was not reliable. Had tried to call before going, and was put in a queue never answered by customer service. Absolutely disappointed and avoid if you can.

Bryce and the rest of the crew are 10/10 awesome. Ive been to the U-haul 4 times in the last 2 weeks grabbing their trailers every time and they ALL have gone above and beyond to help me out and make things work for me. Seriously cant recommend enough, best customer service ever.

I bought a box kit for packing. Some of the boxes were defective and the glue separated when assembled. I tried to also return unused boxes (under the Buy Back advertised) and they would not take any. They claim they can only buy back boxes that are unused and sold seperately.....nothing on the website that I could find indicating this. DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSONNEL. They had no consideration and couldnt even explain why the buy back specifics are not posted on website.

Propane is a bit cheaper than exchange, but it takes forever. On a busy Saturday there are 2 people taking care of customers. So 20 minutes in line to pay. Obviously u-haul could care less. Not enough employees no problem just wait. After helping someone one of the clerks was on her cellphone for 5 min before serving another person. Most likely wont be using this anymore. Savings arent with the time

There was this Spanish speaking lady working who tried everything she can to not let me rent a truck cus I had an international license. She was very unhelpful and was just wasting time. The online support staff were much nicer and had me rent the truck quickly.

I have only had wonderful service here at this location! So thankful for the customer service representatives, Teanisha, Debbie, and Karen! Their help was incredibly thorough, efficient, and just what I needed to make my move less stressful! I am also thankful for the young man who connected my trailer to my hitch for me, I believe his name was Javon! Everyone was so kind and so helpful. Wishing them all the best!

Honestly, avoid at all costs. Uhaul swindled me.Whatever low monthly rate theyre showing you online its a lie. $85/month became $125/month when I couldnt do anything about it because I had movers waiting and a truck full of my stuff.I booked a unit that I confirmed online and then when I got there with my movers and my truck (that had been unloaded while I waited 30 min in line to speak to someone) they told me my reservation did not exist and they had no units of the size I booked at their facility at all. That unit size wasnt even an option there. After nearly an hour of back and forth at the counter where at one point they tried to force me to take a Ubox at another location (passing me off) they found a locker stacked on top of another locker that you could only access through a moving staircase. They claimed it was their last locker. I had to pay my movers an extra $120 an hour because all their moving time had been eaten up by this fiasco. When the facility gave me the final paper work the rate I had received online was NOT what they put on this contract. $85/month had become $125/month. I was trapped at that point. Im leaving town the next day and I had no other choice. 3 other people had breakdowns while I was there because Uhaul had taken their money and not provided the service they paid for. None of the employees seem to have any Customer Service autonomy, cant provide refunds, cant comp vans, cant book you another unit, only the manager can & surprise, HES NOT THERE.

Im currently using this storage facility for my grandmas stuff right now.I dont know if anyone noticed but the locks and security features have been improved compared to the past. At least the idea of getting robbed while going through my old stuff isnt a possibility. At the very least the staff are nice so if you have questions, theyll be happy to help since it helps their bottom line.

Zero for customer service. Avoid. Abrasive and disrespectful.Stood in line almost 15 minutes while a manager, cashier and two other employees rolled in and out, argued with each other, and were consumed with filing a report on a broken truck mirror, never acknowledging me, until I approached the desk and I was told to go back in wait at the other end of the store until they were ready to take my money.Then not even an apology for making me wait while they dealt with their internal issues. Clearly they have too much business and dont need miine.

Waste of time. Called to rent an auto transport trailer. Gave them all of my info. Car and truck info. They were happy to take my info and card information and told me I can drop it off 24/7 but when I got to the location they told me they dont take after hours dropoffs. I was flexible and said I would drop it off in the morning. Then I was told my truck (rated 8600lbs towing capacity) cant tow my car (3200lbs). I guess their trailers weigh 6000lbs??? I wasted a few hours prepping. If I was at least told in the beginning then I wouldnt have wanted my time. Also I checked their website and they will let a few trucks with 2,000 lbs less towing capacity tow the same vehicle.

When I originally came to Uhaul a few days days before my move, I told the female rep that I wanted to rent a truck, but I dont drive, however I wanted to reserve the truck and have the person driving come pick it up with his license. I was told I couldnt rent the truck yet but would have to bring my driver with me the day I was going to rent it have him show his ID, and rent the truck, and I would pay for it.But when we got there all the trucks had been reserved (the rep never told me this was the busy time of the month, otherwise I wouldve had my driver out there a week before so I could rent the truck I wanted) and I could only get a cargo van which was way too small for all my furniture, etc.I asked to use the Uhaul parking lot to park the van overnight after my move, because my driver lives in Antioch and it would be easier for him to leave the van here, instead of driving. The manager incorrectly told us there was no parking available, even though one of his subordinates said there was, after which he reluctantly agreed. But by this point wed been in the store for over an hour, everyone was irritated....we were ready to go and the reps did not hide the fact they were ready for us to be gone.Because the cargo van was so small and we werent able to get parking, the van had to make several trips to and from Antioch and to my apartment. Ultimately, Im disappointed the bill was so high because I think better communication on the part of the Uhaul reps wouldve helped the situation.

The worst customer service, even tho I did the reservation for the truck online for express check in, I still came in and waited in line for 1 hour to get my truck with the people who decided to do the process there.They make you go around to find your truck and then wait for the approval then they tell you that you need to be in line, I could’ve done all the process while I was in line and saved a lot of time, the worst!!

From October 2020Reserved a one-way truck 4 weeks out, called 1 week ahead was told we would need drive at most 20 miles away. Three days later was told this would be 100-200 miles. Potentially the truck would have been in Nevada.We reserved with Penske for this one-way rental.Obviously U-haul is not able to serve California for longer moves.

If I could give a 0 star rating, I would.I booked a room online. When I got to the facility a the end of the month as I said I would, they had no record of this. (This makes me wonder - why bother filling out your forms online if it saves NO time and effort. Oh, and where is all my billing info sent to then?)The room I got had a building post inside it, taking up about half the space. The discount I got for this inconvenience was $5/month.I had all my stuff ready to move in...it was the end of the month so I wasnt prepared to turn around and leave when I thought I was getting the room I chose on the website. So frustrating.Complaints by phone and email were ignored.More bad service: At the time I showed up and filled out paper work (AGAIN) when moving in, I asked for the bill to be auto-billed. That wasnt ever set up on their side, so I got hit with a late fee! I had no way of knowing that part (their part) wasnt done, so I think this highly unfair. Again no management available on site, no response from corporate or local management.Ive already moved my stuff out after a month. Long lines, slow slow slow response - like none from location manager and one email from headquarters 2 weeks after I complained by email and phone. No reversal of charges that were unfairly billed. Really bad experience. STAY AWAY.

How can a company have such terrible customer service and still be in business. I was yelled at by the manager when I arrived at the location because there was no where to park my truck and he told me I parked in the wrong place. I then asked the lady at the teller window if this was they treated all of their customers and she told me that it was common sense and I should know better where to park. Then they punished me by making me wait until they would check me out. I have never witnessed such a lack of respect for a customer. I wish I could post 0 stars.

A shame. Once a Go-to truck rental location, now is a huge pain in the a##. Geno with his love patch enforced a new policy of requiring to have my cell phone fully charged during rental check out, so that he can run through the process. They actually called my second contact number and would not rent unless that person picked up the phone and confirmed that they are who I said they were. This has NEVER happened to me ANYWHERE else. How is this even helpful?? I could have asked anyone to pose as a second number contact. Just one week ago none of this was required. Now renting at UHaul is an embarrassing task and an invader of privacy. Sucks what has happened to this place.

Open late, huge selection of rental vehicles, and they seem to be of good quality. Had to wait quite a while for my trailer rental and there was some confusion about a discount I was supposed to receive. However, overall, service was good, and the trailer I rented there was in great condition, with like-new tires, which is what I was most concerned with.

U-haul on Bayshore has the RUDEST floor manager ever! Roderick was uncaring, sarcastic towards me as a PAYING customer. They never gave me my free storage on a One-way rental, and he sent me to Bryant St. telling me they could accommodate me, and that was a lie! Alesaudra at the Bryant street branch was the only employee I dealt with that had a professional demeanor! She was amazing, and accommodating. She gets ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I wish I could rate this with -5 stars. I question my judgment for not driving away immediately, however, I did cancel my order before even using them. Fortunately, I had enough wits to go to another location, namely the one at 5500 Mission St, where the service was amazing.I went here in the first place, btw, since I went to another location and they told me to go here since they had after-hours drop-off (they do, but they told me not to park my car outside the gate since it could very likely be robbed)Here are my main points:-This place is the definition of seedy; this place makes the Tenderloin look like Nob Hill-There is a huddle of people hanging outside the place who will harass you to try to help you move-The workers here clearly dont give a !@#$; I waited 20 min for them to pull a cargo van out for me, gave up (combined with the fact that the place scared me), and canceled my order-The workers all look like ex (or current) cons-The workers intentionally underestimate the mileage to places so that the estimate seems lower

Big place with the most asinine check in method that takes forever. You dont have the customers doing your job. Their mobile check in procedure is utterly idiotic. Having a staff tell the customer to do all of the check in on their own phone while the uhaul employee sits there is ridiculous. The only reason this place gets 3 stalrs is because of price and fairly easy check out.

Clever and deceitful. She asked how far away I was going (for the mileage estimate). I told them I was driving to Campbell and back. They said it was about 50 miles to Campbell (thats about right) and put that down as the estimated mileage, though they knew I was returning the truck back to this location. It was my responsibility to realize that they didnt include the mileage back, but it was a very deceitful practice. Guess Im too trusting/naïve.When I returned the truck I followed the signs for truck return until they disappeared. I went into the main building to return the keys and they told me I had to drive the truck to another location and someone would check me out. I drove the truck there and there was nobody waiting. I left the truck and walked the 320 feet back to the office and told them nobody was there. She said the person just walked into the office and was walking back to the drop-off location to meet me. I walked the 320 feet back to the truck. Very disorganized.I will not be going back.

Dropped off my Rental after driving cross country and ended up using storage for about half a year. The downside was storage did not have 24/hr access, although I really never needed it. Returning a 17 ft. rental couldnt have been easier. The penalty for going over milage and time were so minimal, well worth it.

Deceitful practices as others have pointed out. Good luck if you do an overnight drop off. They charged for fuel even though it was full, cleaning even though it was cleaned, and 36 extra blankets that were never physically in the truck. They also messed up my order and I had to wait 40 minutes for a different truck during a time crunch.

From the sound of these reviews, I am not surprised. Businesses these days are overunned with this very kind of rude treatment of customers. It is becoming an all too common and unchecked pattern due to a lack of real oversight. Try being kind to your customers instead of turning the business into a political stronghold that gives deferential treatment only to resentful people like themselves! Or, otherwise fire the ruffian bastards. Its that simple!

I would like to give zero stars, but that is not an option!I have finally given up and have gone somewhere else to get a my hitch installed for a bike rack. I had an appointment February 20th to get it installed- When I got there they apologized and said they couldnt find the specific one in stock. They ordered and I came back 5 days later for my appointment- Wrong hitch sent. I have left so many messages for Julio the manager to see if the hitch had come in like they said it would. I have never got a call back or no follow through has ever happened. Everyone I have talked to on the phone has been quite pleasant, but I am so incredibly frustrated that I have waited this long with no service.

So I reserved a 20 foot truck here and just before the date of the reservation, I got a call from them. They advised me that they had no 20 ft trucks, but they could offer me a 10 ft truck (seriously?). My only other option was to go all the way to San Leandro, about 30 miles away. That is a $65 lyft ride.

Purchased a Ubox to move across the country and when I called they told me to pick up my stuff at this facility, then they changed their mind and set me to another, then they said go back to the first. When I demanded to know where my stuff was they told me I would have to wait 2 weeks before they could deliver it. I finally paid movers from their website to pick it all up and the warehouse wanted a 20 dollar bribe to get it. Really sketchy, dont use Uhaul for anything.

If I could give zero, I would.I was sent to this store to repair my Uhaul-installed hitch and wiring that was still under warranty. The guy who made the appointment, knew I was coming & knew what kind of car I had, flat out refused to do the work once I got there. He didnt refuse because he couldnt do it, he refused because he didnt want to do it. As he put it I dont work on cars that other stores have installed because if something goes wrong, it falls on me.Needless to say, it delayed my move and I was only able to move because the amazing team at German Auto Service in Alameda, CA stayed late into the night to fix the wiring.DO NOT USE THIS STORE, especially Armando.

These folks really.helped me out and I feel like I should post cause they have such bad rap. I needed to rent a storage unit and return uhaul all within an hour of when they were closing. They didnt kick me out right at 7, and were very very nice and helpful. I was extremely grateful and thankful that they were able to help me dirung such a stressful time. I didnt get a trailer hitch installed so maybe thats why I had an ok time. I think these folks get ALOT of attitude from people but If you are thoughtful and kind and try and be understanding to their POV then you should have a fine experience.

Amazing! I rented an airstream and did not know that I didnt have the light hook up. Got me in that day and saved me about half as much as the custom Honda adapter would of costed. Everyone there was super helpful!

I was refused service to fill my propane tank. The guy clearly did not know what he was doing and kept looking at it with a puzzled look then acted like something was wrong with my equipment. There is nothing worse then first not admitting your own deficiency the secondly blaming the other person. Childish and unprofessional. Oh and my equipment has be filled and refilled regularly and never has had any issue. Clearly the guys inadequacies were more than he could deal with alone so he wanted to make me feel bad instead.

Avoid the location on Bayshore if you can. If they find a hair in the cargo area, they are going to charge a cleaning fee. The 1st guy said it would be a $20 fee to clean after he inspected the truck. Then a 2nd guy comes up and says its going to be a $75 fee to clean. Im standing there going, wait..., clean what?

This place is full of unmannered employees that dont give a crap about the customers. I was treated harshly. When I returned the trailer the employee didnt care to call it in and they tried to charge me for an extra day and I had to personally go back to deal with it. They ended up fixing my problem by charging me the correct amount, but the return date was not changed to the proper one. Everyone I dealt with was unmannered and unfriendly. Never coming to this place again.

Filled up propane for the RV. The dial didnt even rotate all the way to 8 gallons. Got the email and saw that he charged me for 9 gallons. I went back to ask EJ and he gave me a lame excuse. Then I had to sit in line to get a gallon reimbursed. This place is slow and very frustrating.

You think with how large this U-Haul place is there would be more employees to help, took forever, and no one bothered to help or direct me where to go at first. The guy who finally helped me was extremely rude, instead of doing his job and unhitching my trailer, he tried to walk me through backing it up into a parking spot. Every uhaul I have ever been has you pull through, unhitches your trailer, and wheels it away for you, not make you do all the work. When I asked him to unhitch it so I didnt have to try and back it up he said Yeah but then youre gonna make me have to do my job. Terrible service, rude employees, will never return.

This is a huge storage centre of U-Haul close to Bayshore freeway. The dedicated storage spaces and good service makes it the first choice for rental trucks, trailers, cargo vans and U-Box moving & storage containers.

Dreadful experience end to end.- Call center got everything about my booking incorrect: Scheduled a pickup for 1 of 3 UBoxes a day in advance, Booked a lighter load truck than required, didnt book the trailer type I needed, told me I could return boxes to a location that I couldnt.- Arrived at 7am with contractor and 1 of two staff members on desk didnt show up to work until 7:15am, so the queue was very long. She proceeded to grunt single word directives at customers (Contract?....License....) She made it very clear to all customers that she was annoyed to be out of bed that early. Several customers made comments about her - The young woman wearing Cleopatra makeup and acrylic fingernails as long as your arm). After the queue died down she got out her energy drink, youghurt and granola and proceeded to eat breakfast at the customer service counter.- The mileage and fuel on the paperwork produced by the aboove young woman didnt match the truck we were given and she didnt care about the inconvenience of correcting that at all.The whole experience cost me several hundred dollars in wasted contractors fees due to additional travel and having to swap trucks etc - The saving grace was the manager at Uhaul Redwood, Nicolas, who managed to find a solution against all odds.If you have ANY alternative to UHaul available, then I suggest you take it.

The problems are mostly caused by customers. Carts do not always get returned so you can get one when you need to bring stuff up from your car and people dont close the elevators so you cant call the elevator if the gate has not been shut.

They lost the keys to the one truck we needed. While they tried to figure something out, they were running around and yelling at each other like children. They eventually found us the truck we needed and offered us a discount but the stress beforehand was not worth it. Just be prepared for the worst.

They checked in the Uhaul truck we dropped off, BUT NOT the trailer that we dropped off at their location. Now 40 days later I have uhaul sending me an email to saying the trailer has not been checked in.Good thing we took pictures of the truck and trailer dropped off at their location. Ive called U-haul customer support 6 or so times to try and get a hold of a Rep who can confirm the trailer had indeed been dropped off.Guess what, reps hung up on me and Candlestick has yet to leave a message or return my call. This experience with Uhaul has been extremely disappointing.

The property is secure, but the prices are very high. We qualified for a free month because we had a one way rental for a trailer. The service is extremely slow, so plan to be there for a long time if there is any line, even one or two people.

I had my unit for 5 years, they have rats and roaches in the unit I informed them and they did nothing about it. I had to throw away all my possessions and They acted as if it was my problem they had roaches.

They leave the vehicles on the street and when the city comes after them, they point the tickets to you. (License plate the vehicle I rented had almost $1500 on back tickets, only $184 of which they pinned on me.) City eventually hands off to a collection agency. I made calls, showed up in person, emailed, and even wrote letters. They just stonewall.

Stay away! Incompetent or corrupt management. I was forced to pay $184 in city parking tickets accrued on days I didnt have the vehicle, and it was illegally parked in front of their own offices.They leave the vehicles on the street and when the city comes after them, they point the tickets to you. Absolutely horrible service. Everyone is sick if their job and unwilling to help, or even take preventative measures. I had to back up a 14 foot truck with a motorcycle trailer about 100 feet into a busy street because they didnt feel like seeing if I had a trailer on the back until it was too late. Thankfully the homeless guys around there helped me back it up.
