Theyve got tires, and lots of em. In and out is easy, staff are friendly and will talk to you about whats going on. Love the atmosphere of the place--it FEELS like a motorcycle shop. Sometimes I get the feeling that theyre not 100% straightforward, and sometimes need to negotiate on the price of a tire, but by and large that adds to the experience.

I have been a customer here for over a decade. My go-to place for tires, and have had their mechanics spot issues in development that let me prevent them on more than one occasion. The owner removed a dent on my R1 rim so well you cant tell it was ever done, and that was after a previous mechanic (who dented it test riding my bike) tried to hide the dent by hammering it out. Simply enough, KC is awesome.

I cannot recommend. While the staff is friendly and kind, after installation, I found many dings and gouges in the rims from not properly using guards for the tire irons. More importantly, the bolts for the rear calipers were not installed correctly causing the rear caliper to dislodge while riding, doing hundreds of dollars worth of damage, and almost causing an accident. Finally, I found the pinch bolt 1/4 of the way out, as if they completely forgot to tighten it. I will never go back, as they seem to do extremely careless work on things that could cause life-threatening injury if not done correctly.

Dunlop Sportmax Q3+ 120/50/17 front 190/55/17 back installed in a blink of an eye. Bout $500ish.. EDIT: Scratched my brand new rear rim and did not tighten the front brake calipers. Two bolts hold each front brake caliper, I heard something loose and thought it was the steering stem nut loosening, but I was literally 1.5 turns from losing the the only bolt that was left on each brake caliper. Yes lost one bolt and the caliper was clicking when I let off the brake.Nice people, but... I like my life, so I wont EVER be back.

I needed a 15K mile service for my 2012 Ducati Monster 1100 EVO. It was going to be weeks before I could get my bike into any local Ducati dealer for service. But Stephanie at KC Engineering gave me a quote on service to beat my Bay Area Ducati dealers and scheduled me for a week sooner than anyone else could. Stephanie later explained that the Ducati dealers prioritize warranty work over regular service which is why their wait times are usually weeks or months out.I got my Ducati Monster back on schedule and even below the price she quoted me. Rowen (Senior Mechanic), Christina (Office Assistant), and Stephanie (Office Manager) were all very pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. It was fun to share riding stories with everyone and to hear theirs as well. When the office manager, Stephanie, knows more about the parts on your bike than you do, that is a great sign of experience. It was a pleasurable experience working with them and they will be my first call from now on for any work on my Monster, or if I need tips on taking any long motorcycle rides around California. Also, I didnt know it before but they have an extensive supply of motorcycle parts and accessories hidden away above their garage. If you need some obscure part, like the battery tender to USB charger I needed, mirrors, tire patch kits, motorcycle battery tender, or anything, then you should call them to see if they have it. They probably will and you can pick it up the same day and save on shipping. An exceptional alternative to Cycle Gear if you need a part for your bike.If you need any type of service for your Ducati, or ANY type of motorcycle parts or accessories, then KC Engineering is the best small local shop in the Bay Area. There motto is If we cant fix it, then nobody can and that makes me feel safe and secure taking my bike there.

Great service!! Went there to get new tires and, event though they didnt install them cause I wanted to do it (they would have done it if I had asked for it) they gave me a wonderful service!!Advice! If you are gonna pay in cash they give you $10 off I think when its over $70. But if you do a Yelp check-in theyll give you 10%. Choose which alternative fits better your situation and go for it!!

This has been a really unpleasant saga.I brought my vintage bike here since they were just about the only shop willing to take the project on (‘81 Kawasaki, starter clutch replacement).Issue #1: They originally quoted two weeks, and had the bike for a total of five months.Issue #2: They called me and I ride shared over a total of three times to pick up the bike, twice it wasn’t actually ready when I got there, despite being told it had already been test ridden. The amount I paid is roughly what was quoted.Issue #3: Three months after I got the bike back, it started regularly leaking oil. I had requested that all the seals and gaskets be replaced while they had the engine open originally, and the inovice stated that had been done.Issue #4: I contacted them to bring the bike back in for that (hopefully) warranty work to be performed, they said they’d order the parts and contact me “in a couple days” to arrange a time for the work. I contacted them four weeks later because they never reached out.Issue #5: I brought the bike in, and was called at 10:30 at night by a friend who lives nearby who informed me that they left my bike out on the street, in a spot where it would be ticketed or towed for street cleaning that night. They do not regularly leave any bikes out, they just forgot all about mine. I had to come over and move it to a legal space in the middle of the night. By 10am, they hadn’t even noticed that my bike was missing.I’m awaiting the receipt of the bike and the bill. I will not be returning.Update: I got the bike back, they comped the parts and charged me for labor. It still leaks oil. I called them and let Stephanie know that it isnt fixed, and that I wont be back.Based on my experience, and the conversations I’ve had with other customers, it seems that they’re fine for tire and oil changes. If you need anything more than the basics, or need it on a timeline, find anyone else.

However, I didnt realize the price of synthetic oils so I gave them some attitude not realizing that its all my bad. So I just wanted to pop in and say Im sorry and Im going to give you guys a 5-star review in exchange for my attitude! My bike has been at this shop for 4 months & counting. Stephanie never calls back, leaves you hanging, & don’t care about the fact that’s still my bike!!!!Regardless of the many excuses it doesn’t take 4mos to fix a job. I’ve been lied too. Now the first two times she fixed my bike was pretty cool. This chick plays too many head games. I went up there yesterday to get my bike, which she said it was going to be done by last Friday, wasn’t. No call Saturday. So I goes there today with the cops only to be told that they still can keep my bike while she isn’t there & won’t answer her phone. Now I’m still out of a bike with paid repairs & I still don’t have my bike $640.00 later.

It took 7 weeks for KC Engineering to complete work on my motorcycle. This in itself was disappointing. They could not complete all of the work themselves and had to farm out one repair to another shop which no doubt added 2 weeks to the extended time frame. The poor communication was the most frustrating part of the whole experience. If I didnt call to ask for an update I did not hear from the shop. When I did call the person on the phone could not tell me anything and would have to phone me back. Sometimes a day would pass and I would have to call again. Also, while there was more than one issue that needed attention, the first thing I asked them to look into was not addressed and I was told there was no problem. Later once they corrected the other issues they then agreed that what I originally asked them to look at needed attention. Again, VERY frustrating.Pricing is on par with most shops so no complaint there.Do not take your motorcycle here for anything more complicated than tires you may be as disappointed as I was.

I have been going to KC engineering for a few years for simple issues for my scooters but will not be going back anymore. After my last visit, I seriously doubt their quality of work.I recently went in to have my rear tire changed (after I ran over a nail) and encountered a major issue after picking up my scooter. I drove about a block or so and a number of bolts sprung off the back all over the road resulting in the scooter to feel very off and to lose quite a bit of power. I was able to get back to the shop and a mechanic installed new bolts and made sure they were torqued correctly. I ended up going to another shop to ensure the rear wheel was put on correctly and that the scooter did not get damaged.I have never written a review but felt compelled to write this because I see this as a serious mistake that could have resulted in significant damage and injury.

I was on day 10 of my 23 day tour of the United States last May when I finally reached the east coast. My bikes oil hadnt been changed since I was home in Ohio, and it was long overdue for a service. I stopped in at K.C. Engineering, and man, no words can describe my experience.First of all, the staff understood that I was traveling and that I had a tight schedule, so one of the mechanics made my bike a priority and started servicing it immediately. My bike had my entire life strapped to it, so the bags needed to be removed so the mechanic could work on it. One of the owners told me that I could take my bags off and put them in a corner safely in the back of the shop. They even locked my helmet in one of their cabinets! The mechanic was an older gentleman who had been working on bikes for a very long time. He knew my 1973 CB750 inside and out. I had an oil change, 4 new spark plugs installed, and two new tires put in. The mechanic even said that my oil filter housing was missing a metal washer that most people dont know about and throw away. He put in a replacement. The younger woman who was one of the co-owners asked me if there was anything else they could do for me. My turn signal cover was missing, and I was half joking when I asked her if she had a replacement, because no one has a turn signal cover for a 1973 CB750. I had lost it in Kansas, and went to many repair shops before and they didnt have any. Then she showed me the part room. They have parts... for everything. Their part room was huge for such a relatively small shop, and I felt like I was in American Pickers. We found the cover (in like-new shape by the way), and it fit my bike perfectly. The staff was amazingly kind, helpful, and experienced. They fixed my bike in only a couple hours, and even had a missing part for my vintage motorcycle. The only thing I wish was that their shop was back home here in Ohio.

October 2016 I had my front and rear tire swapped over here. Price was ok service was ok. Problem was when I left to travel down to LA next day . 150miles from LA my front brake pad flew out because whom ever did it had not checked to make sure the brake pad was in the correct spot when the tire was put back together. (This could have caused me to crash at highwayspeed). When I phone to ask what they would do about it, when I arrived to north Hollywood the next day they passed my question around from manager to manager and did not pay for the brake replacement. Every time I called back asking for help with this situation they brushed me off and passed the phone . I have never been so disappointed in someones work and business. This almost cost my life getting my work done here.

Had my front tire done nicely in this shop (good job) but then they broke left handle ending peace and didnt put it back (probably thinking that i will not see the broken part) . when i asked them to fix that broken part they started being aggressive saying it came off itself even-though i saw how they hit my handle to the counter and then that part felt down. instead of trying to help me to fix it they started arguing like they didnt do anything wrong. the mechanic was super aggressive and the lady on counter wasnt friendly during this discussion. instead of saying no worries,we gonna fix it (like normal customer service supposed to be) they and i wasted 5 minutes on arguing. at the end they tried to fix it but couldnt fix simple problem. i took it home and fixed myself(5 minuts to fix it). the most terrible customer service. be very careful when you leave your bike with unprofessional people and always check your bike before you take it from shop!
