Tried and tested—Timbuk2. I can’t count the number of timbuk2 bags and accessories I’ve purchased over the years. You can gets something that fits your needs, maybe you want a backpack, or a messenger bag, or a customized bag, or a fanny pack, or a...on O know you get my drift. The sales peeps are friendly, knowledgeable, and best of all—not pushy!
Love the luggage I bought, but also really appreciate the excellent service from Hakeem and Javier! They both went above and beyond to accommodate me by holding the products I couldn’t walk home with that day, and then delivering it to my car so I didn’t have to wake my sleeping baby. Excellent customer service.
VERY helpful staff. Many choices. Something for everyone. I bought the perfect backpack for me.
Great place to find bargains on the venerable brand. If you are willing to settle for last seasons model, go as low as 70 percent below retail. Friendly helpful staff and a neighborhood vibe.
Highly recommend the Timbuk2 factory store! All of their products are still created and made right here in San Francisco’s mission. I wish I still had my original messenger from the 90’s! The factory store gives a generous 20% discount to military service members. (Thank you Timbuk2!) They also have bicycles available for riding around the neighborhood, which is so friendly! The staff was interesting and helpful as we picked out several backpacks and messenger bags to purchase for graduation gifts, birthday gifts and well, just for ourselves too! My design major college student was ecstatic with her Walker backpack that had plenty of room for computer, art pads and art tools while being cool and stylish. We bought some day packs, not pictured.
This place is super out of the way, low-key and easily missed. I lived in the area for years cemetery unaware of its existence. I saw an a frame sign announcing their discounts and that got me in the door. Long story short...I walked out with their #1 selling bag, $125 msrp for a whopping $35. You read that right.
I love this Timbuk2 store. I’ve been using their bags for 15+ years, and since I moved to SF I’ve bought 3 bags from the factory store. Often they have great sales/discounts, and the staff are helpful and friendly.
I’ve been a big fan of Timbuktu for decades. I booked a factory tour on my birthday in 2019. I saw most of the workers were Asian. They make the bags with care and craftsmanship of the bags in one of the most expensive cities in the world.
The staff here are so darn friendly. It’s also kind of fun because not many people come here so you get the whole place to yourself.Besides having some amazing sales with some regular priced items, you can also make your own bag by customizing existing designs. You get to choose your fabrics, colors, styles. I’ll try that next.
Upon entering we were presented with sanitizer and gloves to browse their wares. This was Sat Dec 12th 2020. Seemed like half the store was on sale. With some items discounted up to 70% off. The on duty employee was very helpful and answered all of my questions. Also little FF (FUN FACT) for you... You can order custom bags and they are built right next door. Tons of colors and fabrics to choose from.
Quality items, nice building, great merchandise and some good sale items.
Timbuk2 is my favorite bag brand and love that theyre a local company that has exploded to great success worldwide. The best selection is online, but always great to see bags in person to get a feel for the size, pockets, and fit. A bonus is that they will periodically do warehouse sales where you can get test bags or discontinued colors and styles for a great price.
Top tier bags and soft goods. You’d be hard pressed to find better crafted. My messenger bag is 10+ years old and still in excellent shape. The liner started to deteriorate so I brought it in for warranty work, they replaced it no charge! All the staff I interacted with were great.
The shop itself is just a big space with bags hanging on the wall. There was quite a few bags on sale inside also. The customer service and the ability to customize so many different bags here really sold the shop though. Being able to look and feel the material before buying is a great part of buying a custom bag. I would recommend stopping by if youre looking for a local bag.
Amazing products, great space and incredible discounts! go for it! ✌🏼
Stumbled upon this spot while taking the stroller for a spin. Got to see all the new bags which was cool. Didnt know you could customize your bag. If you want to do that its all worth the visit to see all the bags in person and all the cool fabric you can choose from.
The staff is super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable (shout out Berto). They do on-site bag repairs and will even mail it back to you, which is perfect because I was visiting from out of town and needed to fix a small tear. There was also a specific bag I wanted but they ran out of the color I preferred. Berto called the Hayes Valley store and was able to put it on hold for me over there. The Mission location has some fantastic deals that you can only get there though.
This place is a great gem for finding a sturdy bag at a decent price. Lots of past season sale items on big discount plus lots of other good deals on clearance items. You can get current season items here as well. Its a big store with a good selection.
Went on a day where they were have a 70% off sale. I have been using there bags for years and they are durable and of impeccable quality. The customer service is always very good. Staff are friendly and helpful answering questions.
I love my new Authority Laptop Backpack! The staff here was so friendly as well.
After buying several bags online over the years I got the chance to hop in, in person. Cool simplistic spot with a chill vibe just like I thought it may be. It was very cool to see and check out all of the bags. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful.
I love supporting San Francisco businesses, and the bags are so durable and comfortable.
As much as I like researching products online I still need to playwith the products before I buy them. This factory store is great for that. The store is big and there are a few to no tourists so customer service is good. I got travel 40L bag at a reduced price which is always a bonus.
Fantastic products and perhaps even better staff. Both staff members went out of their way to help me find a particular size and color. Were also patient and not pushy when I was trying the bag out. I highly recommend.
These guys are great! Jess and the capable crew took my satchel in on Friday and worked their magic. I received the thing the following Tuesday (yesterday) and Im happy as a clam with the workmanship.; their seamstress is a magician! Ill probably never buy another bag from another entity. Thanks Jess et al! You guys are great!
What a treat to be able to come here! I was in town from Boston and brought my backpack which had a zipper issue. They fixed it up on the spot. I found another bag on deep discount, and they modified it within a couple days exactly the way I wanted. I wish they had a factory store in Boston!!
Very helpful and patient staff. I spent over an hour trying out almost every single backpack and they didnt rush me at all. I was very satisfied with my experience in this store, I highly recommend this location for friendly and helpful service.
Local made bags in all shapes and sizes. You can even have custom made stuff. They always have lots of inventory so theres a lot to choose from. The staff is nice and again, I just love supporting a local shop.
Just got the perfect size messenger bag and it was 40% off. First co-worker who saw it wanted it immediately. Totally happy I happened to be riding past it and was curious!
Timbuk2 has been my go-to for daily carry luggage for years: messenger bags, backpacks, commuters. We went for the factory tour. The tour was interesting, but the factory store is the best! I’m not even going to talk about their bags; you love ‘em or you don’t. Most of their catalog is available alongside deeply discounted discontinued items. Try out the custom bags in the store, then customize them online for home delivery or in-store pickup. Staff in the store have been really helpful and pleasant both times I’ve been there.
Spacious store with lots of different bag designs. Very helpful and friendly staff. I was after an older bag style and the sales person didnt give up looking in the back until he found a couple for me. Thumbs up.
Great spot to get a bag. They always have be sales and their bags are really good quality. Ive yet to have a problem. The staff is very helpful too in picking a bag.
Marie helped my husband find the perfect professional messenger bag for his new job! She is extremely patient while still allowing us space to make our decision, and empathetic to her customers needs. Her customer service skills made it well worth a trip this store. Thank you Marie!
Nice little gem and we got great prices on our bags. Definitely one of the best bags if you are riding a bike. They have a wide variety of selections with several affordable ones.
Unfortunately, they really dont stand by their products. A lifetime warranty is only a real thing if they 1) answer the phones, 2) answer emails, and 3) fix the products when you send them back. Theyve gotten too big. Plenty of other brands that actually stand by their lifetime warranties.
Most helpful! I stopped by for warranty bag repair and everyone was most helpful. Also picked up some great holiday gifts. Very appreciative.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Great experience and good offers. Far better service than the flagship store. Highly recommend this one!!
Great bags, excellent customer service!Ive used Timbuk2 backpacks for the past 5 years of my daily bike commute. Recently a zipper broke on the bag Ive been using for the past year. I stopped into the factory store on Shotwell to have it repaired. The Timbuk2 employee took one look at it, went to the back and fetched me a brand new identical bag, and swapped it out for me on the spot -- no questions asked. It was super efficient and MUCH appreciated!
Went there on warehouses seasonal sale. Pretty chaotic but staff was good to re-order shelves and streamline paying lines. However selection was very limited compared to what Timbuk2 proposes on line (even considering past seasons). Nevertheless some bargains
Extremely friendly staff with good knowledge about the product lines. The factory discounted items are usually older versions but you can found them at a cheaper than online retailer price. If you are looking for something special, you can simply ask if they have any prototypes or one offs.
My review is a collective review. I would have given them 5 stars as the staff was awesome. They answered my questions and showed me the best bag for my immediate needs. However, after just one flight, my brand new $300 bag already has 3 tears. My last bag lasted me 8 years and never had a rip like this. I dont see any viable reason a bag would rip like this on one days travel. The worst part is, after submitting an online Repair request, I learned that it will cost me $62 to mail it back. If I do that I am almost $400 into this bag. I am very disappointed.
Went here to have my bag serviced, the bag is about 7 years old and they repaired it promptly, the man at the counter was a nice fellow and wore an extremely cool watch - which I didnt factor into the score of this place but is noteworthy anyway. I come here when Im looking for good deals on timbuk2 bags
Good and knowledgeable staff. They helped me with all my questions and had a wonderful experience shopping a backpack here.
Traveling through SF with my favorite Wingman carry on. Noticed some thread starting to come out on one of the seams. Brought my bag to this factory store. 60 seconds later my bag is repaired. Staff was great.
Quality outdoor gear...custom orders or off the rack...Love their stuff!!
Huge selection of their bags. The store is super spacious and not cramped at all. This is the place to go if youve never owned their bags and want to try them all out.
Great backpacks, very helpful staff will make sure you get the bag you want.
I love the product they produce. The quality is worth the price and you can always find a sale in the factory store.
Nice store, easy to find with interesting deals - about 20-30% cheaper than in other stores. Allows sneak preview and some „behind the scene“ as the designers are just around the corner within the store.
The staff, OH THE STAFF. Folks will go out of their way to help you. The bags are great, reliable, sturdy- they really would sell themselves. The staff is the magic that keeps people going back.
Patient and helpful staff. Special one-offs and custom bags. Deep discounts.
Awesome Timbuk2 products for 40-60% off. Youll have to follow them or sign up for emails to find out about the sales... well worth the hassle
Great bag and it’s lasting. Recommended. Thank you
Always great service, wonderful products and plenty of options to choose from.
Super friendly and helpful staff and great selection!
Had a great experience at their anniversary party last night. A lot of good, new products.
If you like their products... Definitely worth a visit for the discounts.
Great service, cool location, awesome backpack!
Great customer service and high quality products!
Love their products. Well stocked. Lovely display.
Very friendly and organized staff. Went on their annual sale and they handled it very well considering there were thousands of customers.
Excellent products and very friendly and helpful staff. Stop by, take a look, and be prepared to impulse buy something.
Big Timbuk2 fan... They tend to have great deals but sales are final... which is ok because they make awesome bags with awesome customizable designs that could suit pretty much everyone’s tastes. The location is a little inconvenient as it’s not really that close to public transport from what I remember, but check it out!
Cozy little corner of the city and a creatively re-purposed spacious old brick building
Amazing outlet some really good deals and the staff are amazing !
I tried to support local businesses and products. But this experience has left me in a bad disposition. Contacted the store, and person who answered the phone was very helpful. But that was the end of the good experiences. Was told to send email to the repairs dept and include pictures. No response for weeks, finally get a response back and they told me to go online and purchase warranty/repair. Done. Bad directions from site and email left me wondering what was next, and so I emailed and inquired. Then was told my rollerbag was not repairable and must be recycled... Could they have not told me that weeks ago when I initially sent the email with pictures? Now I am weeks out before my trip and this bag is useless to me....And I have 4 Timbuk2 bags so trust me.. I tried to support them. The price is not cheap.. I guess this is what I get for supporting local companies. If you are looking for a suitcase/rollerbag, go elsewhere because they may not repair it if it breaks due to wear/tear. Thanks Timbuk2.
Great and friendly staff with a ton of selections on quality bags. Cant go wrong!
Awesome... I had a few holes in my bag straps and brought my bag in. They repaired it on the spot super quick.
Quick service and friendly worker at this place.
Sales and repairs - staff were very helpful too
A cool shop if youre in the market for a bag.
Well o came from San Mateo to this store to buy this bag I saw online which I loved it on line,I waited for so many buses and long trip to finally got to the store, walked in and I have 5onsay my experience not impressed at all, costumer service suck, yes thats the word it sucks the guy didnt greet me at all,u asked him for the bag I want and see if he can take me to it,he did and he say is all I got on that style,ok,well then he kept looking at me like I was going 5o steal the stupid bag even though I had 3 different style same brand and I had one of them with me yet he kept looking at me,and as I was trying the bag he say leave the bags on the counter which it meant my bag and the bag I was trying to buy, which I end up buying anyways but I was giing for 2 more bags but 5he way he make me feel was uncomfortable and the way he talked I was like am going to buy this bag and returned it tomorrow and he was so busy talking to his friend that I didnt bother asking any more questions about the bag so overall this place will never visit again am somehow happy with my purchase which I didnt get to see what I need it to see in the bag when it comes to comparments and the things I need it for my everyday use he make me feel so like a thieft from now on Amazon is my place to b7y...this place sucks
Staff is super nice and helpful.
Awesome place, nice bags. Products are a bit overpriced but extrrmely fancy and good quality so worth the extra money.
Great bags and excellent customer service! 👍
Great service! A good company staying true in this crazy world.
You gotta check out the bi-annual sales. One in May, one in December. Great bags for all situations!
I love Timbuk2s stuff and own lots of it. Here at the outlet store you can get some real bargains on quality goods, too
Good choice of bags. Satisfying experience.
Great sturdy bags and SF made.
Im a big fan of Timbuktu and this is a great place to get discounted merch
Well - it is their claim to have the toughest bags available. Others have made this claim, yet everyone who makes such a claim doesnt always succeed. As there are claims on their fb page, by current owners of their products with wear issues, or defects. Because of todays throw away consumer goods attitude, the majority of their patronage hardly keep their bags long enough to fail from normal wear and tear, as evidenced by their Give Up Your Bag drives. Either they are refurbished and resold, or donated to the needy. The store on the outside has a typical light industrial ambiance that blends in with their neighbors. Not the pretentious boutique style of some trendy shops on neighboring streets.Inside, their displays are neat and orderly. But difficult to tell the differences, until you dig out the product tags. For most average citizens, bag loads are normally relatively light duty. Except for students that are burdened with one class too many for the semester. In addition to a working laptop or tablet, there is books and hardcopy reference/study materials, even in this age of digital media. If I werent a homeless person, my own bag might be laden with carpenters tools, and a book or two on some days. Otherwise it would be laden with my artists sketch board, and an assortment of pencils, coloured pens, and a laptop [because I dislike tablets notorious limitations]. I would also have a few tools for field fixes for my bicycle, in case something breaks or is damaged by an attempt to loot it for parts (bicycle).Normally when buying a new ready made bag, I have to go over it to check where needs to be reinforced in the potential high stress areas and high friction areas that will wear from hard usage. This involves adding material or sealants to protect vulnerable stitching.Otherwise, if I have access to a decent sewing machine I would custom craft my bags myself than buy off the rack. The pockets for utility items appears to be intended for the usual things like pens, battery charger, and zip drives, water bottle. Not wrenches, crescent, allen in metric/engrish, or a pry bar. But normally Im just a working joe - not the average student or office monkey. So my duty demands are a tad different from normal.
Great prices and you can customize your own bag
They always offer good deals in select bags and some clothing.
Some pretty good deals but nothing too crazy
The employees were highly interested in the customers and were intresting to talk to
Ways good deals around if you are picky with the budget...
Great factory outlet, not much new stuff though.
Awesome down-to-earth people who also throw good block parties. Always keep an eye out for their next event.
Nice service. Shop assistants are very friendly .
