Deli counter is a must! Delicious and healthy sandwiches for under $10...where can you find these portions, quality and price on Union Street?? Exactly. Ask for the jalapeño hummus if you like a little heat and pair with tortilla or pita chips. Falafel is home made by the family!I recall fondly of current owner’s husband, Sami Sr and miss seeing his smiling face. This market is family owned and been in business at least for the last 40years and a staple while I’ve been living in the neighborhood for the last 25 years.
The employees there are extremely rude and have harassed individuals I know with inappropriate language. Unbelievable when you serve a local community to be outright disrespectful.Whoever was working there on 5/13/21 needs to be reprimanded at 10:45am.
Good grocery
I would avoid going to this corner store if you can. Owner is pretty racist and accused me of buying a bottle of water to take his small bills (I paid with a twenty). He then told me to stay home and that I should not be going outside (I’m Asian). And he did not say this to anybody before me (all Caucasian)
Extremely high prices, but you deserve them if you shop here.
Bought some snacks there which, it turned out, have expired half a year ago.
Delicious sandwiches and lots of good groceries.
If there was a 0 Rating They would have it-- Both Brothers who work there are drunk most of the time. I was chased down the street and verbally harassed the first time I shopped there. I moved to my home on Green street last October and wanted a small bottle of champagne to celebrate with my partner. I asked if there was a cold bottle as they kept them warm and they railed on me -- DO NOT SHOP THERE!!!
Amazing deli sandwiches. I have been getting the salami, turkey, or meatball sandwich for years. If you can sneak in around lunch time they usually have a pretty decent soup. The greek salad is great for parties or last minute apps.To top it off they are a very friendly staff. Sam and family have owned and operated this place for 40+ years. They love the neighborhood and are great people to have a few doors down.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. I am a beverage sales person and entered the store looking to pitch my product. Upon entering the store the owner looked at my branded sweatshirt and told me that my product sucks and that I should just leave. Being told no is one thing and perfectly finr, but to be rudely told Your product sucks and not let me get a word in to defend myself is completely out of line.
In case anyone was wondering if anything had changed, seeing that the more recent reviews of this place are all quite positive: No, nothing has changed. The bigoted, seemingly perma-drunk son (?) who works the till is still there, being his usual bigoted, seemingly perma-drunk self.AVOID. AT. ALL. COSTS.
I came into the store at sunset looking to buy some liquor after a looong day at work. As I was scanning the selection, the cashier angrily accused me of being drunk for having eye bags. After I kindly explained to him that I just got off a really long shift and showed him my work backpack, he started boasting that he knew German and told me to get out of the store. I have never been treated like that before. I just left because he seemed like he was on something and I didn’t want to confront him. This is the first time I’ve ever written a review on google. Please read these reviews and stop giving these horrible people business, they really don’t deserve it.
I went to buy a cookie that costed a $1.50 I had $7 on me and asked the man behind the counter if I could use my credit card instead. I explained to him that I was heading to the East Bay and back, and needed the cash. after explaining that to him, the man at the behind the counter yelled at me, get the hell out of his store. I was just trying to use my credit card instead of cash! He refused to take my credit card, but took the credit card of the white woman behind me. The man is rude and racist! He was watching me like a hawk when I first walked in the store...he probably thought I was going to take something. Ive never felt so disrespected in my whole life.I WILL NEVER GO BACK! RACIST AND DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE WORK HERE!GO IN THERE AT YOUR OWN RISK, THE MAN IN THERE WILL HURT SOMEBODY ONE DAY. HE HAS ANGER ISSUES!
First time in the store to see if they carried any good beers. The guy behind the counter was a complete jerk. Told me to go back to my own country, which is confusing because Im an American. Stay away!
Hey, angry, guy working at the Green Street Market, next time youre on the phone shouting about F-in gooks and Jews! take a little time to make sure the guy waiting to pay isnt Jewish. Thats your answer to why I left my stuff on the counter and walked out. But hey, theres an upside: Ill make sure as many Jews as possible know not to offend you by coming into your store!
Horrific people work here. All 4 times I’ve been, they yell racial slurs, derogatory comments about women/moms in the neighborhood, and swear every other word. Disgusting, inappropriate behavior and refuse to give them any more business despite the fact that I’m a half block away
The son who works there frequently references drugs and seems intoxicated. I discourage shopping there.
They close earlySkip
Racist store owner will swear at you and give you a hard time for no reason. Avoid at all cost.
STOP! PLEASE READ BEFORE SPENDING MONEY HERE. Shop owner is a racist, abusive, and disrespectful human being. Went in to buy groceries and bottle of wine. I didnt find what I was looking for and started to leave.. he told me to go get the hell out of his store and go back to where I came from...
The son of the owners of this store normally works behind the counter. Think there is something mentally wrong with the guy. He gets aggressive and angry at customers for no reason. AVOID AT ALL COST
Shop owner is racist and keep using abusive words while youre shopping. Dont ever shop at this place.
Owner Sam Jr. verbally assaults women, makes racist comments, and picks fights with customers.
