Great choice of flavours, really friendly staff and reasonably priced enormo-scoops! My single scoop was just $3.50 and it was huge. There was a good range of cookies (if you prefer your scoop in a sandwich) and lots of toppings too. I chose the Caramel Cookie Dough which was full of delicious chunks of cookie dough. There are plenty of tables outside - perfect for people and busker watching!
The two times I went here I was happily welcomed and graciously helped when choosing which flavor of ice cream to get. Although both times were late at night, they kept this upbeat persona and showed no sign of annoyance. As for the ice cream, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten some so delicious. They have a variety of flavors to choose from, as well as cookies and shakes. I would highly recommend this place to anyone going to San Francisco.
Had their chocolate madeleines, chocolate chip cookie and double chocolate chip cookie in a moment of weakness.Im glad to say that I LOVED THEM ALL. They were gooey and crispy in all the right spots. I just wish it werent so darn bright in there at night. Very aseptic.
They have some interesting flavors. I tried the Lemon Cookie but it seemed unbalanced, almost too sweet with a weird aftertaste. I ended up picking the Salted Butterscotch. The flavor was very good but the ice cream felt a bit chewy at first...almost like Turkish ice cream. I tend not to like chewy ice cream so this doesnt appeal to me that much.
Incredible ice cream. Great fresh cookies. Tasty cones. Fun flavors. Sub-par customer service. One of my biggest pet peeves is feeling like a nuisance for asking for two or three samples before I decide which ice cream to spend $5-7 on. Im a paying customer and when I choose an ice cream shop to go to on a special weekend day I appreciate those 3 minutes being attentive and stress free. On my last visit the employee seemed not only disgruntled by my desire to try the ice cream but also had a headphone in the entire time so I had to ask for things multiple times. It was annoying and the only thing keeping over the moon from a perfect rating. That being said the product still stands on its own as some of the creamiest and fluffiest creamI have ever tasted and I cant recommend it enough. The salted butterscotch is magic on a spoon and the cookies (especially the cookies and cream flavor) work really well with the intense sweet/salty profile
Beautiful presentation all around; Ice cream, tiramisu, shaved ice, and even the chips. All the purple items had subtle, but unmistakable purple yam flavor and texture. The purple sauce or the powder were not over powering or sweet, which I liked. Kids did not like the texture in the purple ice cream. The shaved ice had little too much milk in the ice for my taste. The food looked great, tasted as expected... But... I just didnt find anything that would keep me coming back...
This is exceptional ice cream that is very different. Very creamy and almost whipped texture with a thick satisfying taste. The cookie bowl was dry and tasteless but I would recommend this to be something you have got to try coming to the area. It was relatively cheap and the most enjoyment I had with food in San Francisco. The service was just as good too, I and other patrons were happily greeted, fair recommendations were made, and I liked getting a metal tasting spoon. As a tourist I would forget about spending money on nice food in the area and save it. Then come here and get your hearts greatest desires.
I was craving ice cream one day and had never heard of Over the Moon before, so it was a pleasant surprise to find it on Yelp. It was really easy to get to - a short walk from BART/MUNI, right near the giant fountain along the Embarcadero. I ordered a scoop of mango coconut (mmm) with a cookies and cream cookie, based off the recommendation from one of the staff there (she was really friendly and was saying how the cookies and cream cookie was her favourite one there!). Its a small place with limited places to stand/sit; that being said, they offer a lot of flavours of ice cream, sorbet, and cookies. Besides, on a beautiful SF day, its much nicer to take your treats to-go and walk along the waterfront or take a seat in the nearby park.
This place is super cute! They make the ice cream fresh for your order -- my favorite? Earl Grey Lavender and they shape the ice cream into a rose if youd like.
Absolutely love this little place. I had the ice cream sandwich and it hit the spot! Staff was friendly and you can eat outside in a nice area.
The service was top notch. I could try as many flavors as I liked and they had a wide selection! I went with one scoop ($3.50) of caramel cookie dough and it was G-O-O-D!! I also tried ginger, which Ill get next time if its still there- They said they do frequently switch flavors though.. Keeps it exciting, I suppose.
I am a real Italian man, born in Italy and I have eaten kilograms of ice-cream. Just tasting a small amount, you understand the real flavor of fruits and the portions are generous as in Italy. I will definitely come back!
Awesome creamy. Had the salted butterscotch. Very affordable at only 3.50 on a single scoop. Friendly girl. No waiting. Great service.
If I could give this place 6 stars I would . The ice cream is the creamiest I have ever tasted.
Had the sweet potato soft serve and it was delicious! You get a complimentary small bouquet (while supplies last). The people there were so friendly and patient with our indecisiveness.
Small shop in Embarcadero Center with a good variety of ice cream and cookie flavors. I recommend the funfetti flavor, Oreo cookie (sugar cookie with Oreo bits) and any of the Oreo ice cream flavors. I’ll be back to try more flavors from their selection!
Really great selection of flavours! We came as a biggish group and the only server was actually very efficient and patient with us. The flavours I picked were as described! Peanut butter and jelly and the other was earl grey. Definitely recommended!
Ive been here a couple more times and I highly recommend their nutella ice cream. It has the richest nutella flavor and is absolutely amazing. I always order this when they have it. You cant really go wrong with any of the desert options here, pretty much everything I tasted was delicious. The only thing I did not like that much was the gooey chocolate cookie. It didnt tasted gooey and just tasted like a chocolate bar from a grocery store.
If it wasnt for their A sign I wouldve easily walked past this little shop in the Embarcadero Center. Its $5 for a scoop of ice cream sandwiched between 2 soft, homemade cookies. I opted for the cookies and cream cookies and I was thoroughly pleased with my selection. I would go back just for that cookie. If you are afraid of making a mess, you can ask for a deconstructed ice cream sandwich! This way you can eat the ice cream in a cup and save the cookies for later. The server was super friendly and helpful. Dont forget to get a stamp card!
Easy to get to corner location outside the Embarcadero center, facing the Justin Herman Plaza and the ferry building. The ice cream is very good, I like how creamy it is. I prefer it over the Mitchells ice cream. Limited choices but the ginger and vanilla combination we tried was a hit.
I wanted a milkshake.....no dice, the person didnt know how to use the machine......Anyway the 2 scoops in a waffle cone I choose were really really good!!!And the person was sweet .
Pretty good ice cream, but Ive had better. But if you are in the mood for ice cream in this area, this will do. Flavors are good. Price is decent.
The ice cream was good, but the cookie cup wasnt hot or even warm.
This is my go to ice cream spot when its nice out. Always with the fresh warm cookies. This place is a must if Im the area.
Fantastic ice cream shop! The flavors were great! The young man working the counter was so pleasant. I will be back!
Really great ice cream. Has a lot of yummy flavors.
Many unique flavors. You can get traditional cones, or cookie cups or cookie sandwiches. Yum.
Delicious ice cream! I sampled a bunch but ended up with soft serve lol BOMB!!!! The cookie is a triple chocolate cookie! Really tasty. All together is a perfect combination NOM NOMNOM
Better than used to be. Three and Half Stars
It may not be on the essential ice cream list for San Francisco, but I think this ice cream is some of the creamiest in the city, and the workers are very charming. And they make a mean cookie, too!
Convenient location near the Ferry building with no queue and better prices that the ones inside. In addition the ice cream is good
Great tasting ice cream. Unique flavors.
Visiting from San Diego with my family, we stopped by to get some ice cream for the little kids. The girl behind the counter got real rude with us when we asked her a out validating our parking ticket. All our ticket said was validation at select restaurants, and we wanted to know if she was one of the selected restaurants, to which she responded, read your ticket, it says where to validate on your ticket, Im not going to to read everyones ticket. After saying that she grabbed the ticket and started to read it out loud like if we were illiterate... Super rude
The salted caramel cookie dough ice cream is very delicious.
I loved this place. Ice scream was delicious and the hot chocolate too. Ill come back here anytime.
Great ice cream flavors, some very unique. Prompt service and lots of seating on tables outside.
We love this ice cream shop.
Wowzers this is the place to go for dessert! We tried an entree, the Fried chicken meal which was a good enough portion to split for two. It was ok. We tried the Brownies, Blondies, Molasses Cookies, Ooey Gooey, Snowcaps, and ice cream macaroon sandwich which is probably their specialty! My faves were the Rocky Road Macaroon ice cream sandwich, the molasses cookie and the snowcaps. For an ice cream sandwich the macaroon was still nice and chewy vs flaky. I loved it! I would try other flavors next time. They seem to run out fast and have very long lines. Be prepared for a wait. Just a few small tables inside and out.
Lots of great flavors. A little pricy. The hours arent posted.
Delicious ice cream. The lavender honey is amazing
My favourite flavours are cookie monster and pumpkin pie. I think pumpkin pie is a specialty for the halloween season but you should try.
Super smooth and creamy ice cream.
I live in the neighborhood, so I noticed it when it first open since I had never had fried ice cream until I went there and Ive been going ever since its my favorite.
We stopped in..mint was spectacular. Super service
Delish. Lots of seating nearby in covered embarcadero center mall walk.
Favorite flavor is the frozen banana! So creamy and tasty!
Love this icecream place. They serve a mean icecream cookie sandwich.
They guy that works there is the worsttt and the ice cream is not made fresh
Delicious ice cream in a cookie bowl...
Tasty ice cream. Nothing fancy...
Ice cream taste artificial, especially banana which cannot be natural. For that price I expect no flavorings added, just pure ingredients.
Nothing was very good. Just expensive and lame
Delicious ice cream sandwiches
Amazing service & ice cream!
Good solid ice cream and cookies.
The flavors were great!
Had my favoritd in a cookie cup
Coffee Caramel Crunch, Cookies and Cream Cookie, Chocolate Chip Cookie
Cookies in Cream is wonderful
Was craving some ice cream and saw this place was nearby and did not close until 9. Arrived at just before 7 to a place with no lights on and a sign that said Closed. Frustrating when a place does not keep consistent hours...
Try the cookie cups!
Very delicious!
Delicious ice cream and very friendly service. If you do not know the ice cream, you can try everything first.
