Good selection alternatives when shopping for hard to get items, now that Orchard is RIP. While Lowes is often low or out of stuff. Especially if you cant wait for an Amazon order. And also the cats are residents, still trying to get the b&w one to let me pet its furry hide.
Legacy business in Cow Hollow. Helpful staff and they have what I need. Today I needed keys made.
Great as always! Friendly and helpful staff, and you always find what you need.
Very friendly and helpful neighborhood hardware store. Great variety of products as well.
They have everything you need for a small fix. There is this one gentleman who is so helpful, friendly and does the keys. The rest of staff especially that works as cashiers dont want to be there. Outside in front of the store could use some sweeping.
Great variety of products and very helpful service. Stan was knowledgeable about the bulb/light selection. Would 10/10 recommend.
Quite a mom and pop hardware shop. Dont let the hole in the wall exterior fool ya. These folks got a panel saw and will cut plywood for you.
LOVE! Go for the selection of every kind of duct tape you could want, stay for the people and cats.
Perfect location for when you need hardware. Friendly staff. Easy to return items, when needed.
Super friendly and helpful staff. They were able to give me some advice about what tool I might need for a job I have in the house and saved me from buying a much more expensive tool for it.
Friendly, helpful and I *always* find what I need. No fail for last 35 years.
Best hardware store in Cow Hollow and the Marina. Vast selection of inventory.
Super helpful! Very friendly!
If they dont have it, you dont need it!
Keys copied for $2/ea. Help finding right tool, etc, is always close and kind.
Well stocked and organized if a little cramped.
Has everything you need, super friendly staff and great prices. Love this place. Fun to even just browse in.
Friendly staff, fair prices, and cute cats!
Lots of good stuff and a very helpful people😍
I live in the neighborhood and want to shop here because I like the history of the store and the idea of supporting local small business. Unfortunately there are a few employees that give the rest of them and this store a bad name by regularly recommending the wrong products and more importantly by treating customers as an imposition.
Tons of items. Very knowledgeable and helpful salespeople. Great neighborhood small business. Cute cats as well. Window decoration/displays can be creepy but that is part of the charm. Definitely recommend over Amazon or a big box store.
Fredericksen Hardware is a vital part of Cow Hollow and the Marina at large. Always well stocked and staffed by super friendly and helpful experts who are happy to give you all the instruction you need to get your home improvements completed. I have no idea what we would do without them.
Great service.
This IS still the Hardware store, in San Francisco on Fillmore to go to.for what you need!
All around solid local hardware store. Great staff, plenty of inventory, and popcorn. Name another hardware store that sells popcorn... Been here a few times since moving to the neighborhood and have always had a good experience. Returned an item I bought a week ago and picked up another item this morning and had a smooth transaction. Keep doing your thing Cole Hardware.
Had everything I needed to fix my clogged drain line to my kitchen sink.
This is one of my go-to place for the household stuff. The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.
Great local hardware store, super friendly staff.
Good hardware store, well stocked, friendly, knowledgeable staff
Staff is friendly and very helpful, huge selection and several very sweet cats roaming the store. I love going here for anything I might need around the house - if you need it, they probably have it.
I just moved to the neighborhood - and wow! Fredericksens has it all and the knowledge. So happy to have found this gem of a place.
Nice local hardware store, a little more expensive than the big guys, but thats what youd expect from a neighborhood store. They got a decent selection and move staff.
This is a classic place to go. I hope they never close their doors like most of the other businesses that are family owned in the area
Extremely helpful with a smile ..every time I shop there.Plus they are always super helpful with finding the right household products.. ..love them !!!
Great, helpful staff. Good selection too! They know how to pack a lot into limited space!😉 not the cheapest place in town though. And whoever does their window displays is FANTASTIC!😘
The only choice for hardware in the area, sometimes it feels like they know that. If you can, go to Ace on Clement. It is easily better than Fredricksons.
I totally love this place. I come here about once every six weeks, usually because I need a small part of some sort in a hurry. Frequently I have to bring one or both of my young boys with me. I have really poor spatial memory and can never recall where stuff is in this place, so what I do is walk it, start looking around for a clerk, and ask for the item I want. Inevitably it takes less than a minute to find the clerk, and the clerk knows where the item is, which is kind of amazing, as Id be surprised if there are fewer than 20,000 SKUs in a store like this. The staff have always been helpful to me, and theyre frequently nice to my young boys as well. The prices are fine as far as I can tell. Sure, theyd be cheaper at Home Depot, but getting there and back is usually not an option. Strong buy rated if you need some hardware in a hurry.
This has got to be the oldest full hardware store in the area. I am not thrilled with their move towards more home improvement focus, but it probably makes demographic sense. Still, Freddys is the most comprehensive real hardware store short of Home Depot or Lowes. They have all the basics in stock: power and hand tools, SAE and metric hardware, adhesives, horses, rope, chains, and cables, screens, dowels, electrical and plumbing bits, and of course, key blanks and kitchen stuff. Pretty good place to wander, if you like that kind of thing.
The keys were perfectly cut and they all worked. They have unique supplies. My great grandfather shopped..
This store has a large selection and a very helpful staff. Parking can be tricky in this neighborhood though.
A really like a classic old place like this.
The older guys at the cashier counter werent helpful at all and had a bad attitude, but Sam on the floor was great. Very helpful in explaining how the anchor and the screws were supposed to hold up my floating shelf and saved me a superfluous hole in the wall.
Went in looking for something specific... And the staff was be helpful finding it... Great experience. Thank you.
Good selection and friendly staff
This store is walking distance from my 100+ year old home so I have spent a lot of time and money here over the years. The good: it’s a heritage business that contributes to neighborhood character. They have a large selection of hardware and housewares and it’s one of the few places where you can buy hardware items by the piece (like a certain size of screw in a special finish). The bad: parking is really tough and it can take quite a bit of planning to shop there. Partly because of this, they don’t really carry large things like lumber (but they carry dowels and some trim pieces). The really bad: the customer service is very inconsistent. Some of the long-term employees are grumpy and seem to think it’s fine to be snotty to customers; some also have spotty knowledge of the stuff they’re selling and I’ve had to make mutiple trips because I was sold the wrong thing. There are one or two excellent managers who provide A+ service but they aren’t always there.Bottom line: I’ve tried to make a point of supporting Fredericksen’s over the years but the incentives to just stop trying and to shop at Discount Builder’s Supply or Lowe’s are strong.
I was coming here a lot because it is convenient but every time I have to deal with the older woman that works there I am frustrated. She is rude, grumpy and unhelpful. She has given me incorrect information and fought with me on more than one occasion. The men that work there have been helpful but I am going to stop going there because of her. I agree with the previous reviews that say she is snotty to customers. She acts like we dont have a choice in where we shop.
Same location since 1896. The store is jammed with great stuff, from floor to ceiling. Hardware, housewares, and a whole paint store. Parking is difficult, but the 22 bus stop at Fillmore and Union is nearby.
Fairly decent-sized hardware store located in the marina. they have everything from plumbing, cleaning, maintenance supplies to key making service and every lightbulb type you might need. the prices are on the steep side but its better than trying to make the trek to Target if you need something nearby and convenient.
Awesome local hardware store. Had everything I needed. Super helpful staff
Ive stopped in here multiple times and honestly the people that work here are pretty solid people. Theyve helped me out of a jam a couple of times. Shoutout to Felicia for A1 customer service.
Came here to get copies of my house keys... its cheaper, quicker, and more reliable than the KeyMe kiosk. There were no lines, so I was in and out in 5 minutes with my keys and the keys actually worked. I bought 3 house keys at a KeyMe kiosk and none of them worked.
A hardware jewel in the city. You might have to ask where something is, but thats ok because the staff is knowledgeable and friendly.
The lady (tall, thin, dark hair) that works there, I believe she may be the owner, is very rude. I have had three bad experiences with her. I have been going there for years because it is local and easy but I am fed up with her.
Great neighborhood hardware store with amazing customer service and fair prices
Super trouper
Good family owned business with all the basic needs for your business

This hardware store has a great selection and lots of helpful staff
Well stocked store, great for your needs.
Bought faulty item and they told me that I broke it. Didn’t want to accept it back. I showed them receipt that bought it literally 5 mins ago.Greedy about every penny.
Great store with something for every need
Excellent service.
