I just sold some Costa Rican Colons and Hong Kong Dollars at this conveniently located forex kiosk right at the heart of downtown San Francisco. While the location is excellent due to its close proximity to a Bart subway station, the service clerk’s attitude is almost close to rudeness. A thirty-something young man was sitting by the corner of this kiosk next to an open window busying himself with something while I gingerly surveyed the kiosk to see if there’s any written sign of business hours. Since there was no indication of a temporary break time, I gently asked him if he was open for business, he snapped that if he wasn’t there for business, why would he sit there in the first place? I replied that I didn’t want to bother him while he was busy. Then he asked me what I wanted, which I responded by asking if he would buy currencies from Costa Rica and Hong Kong; he said yes and went to punch some numbers on his computer and returned with a quote from his portable calculator. I agreed and then he went to get the cash and completed the forex transactions with a five-dollar fee deduction without a hitch. I thanked him before leaving the premises while he thanked me in return.Overall, the brief exchange with this person wasn’t pleasant because I felt as if I was bothering him the whole time. The forex rate differential is somewhere around 10-15% of the market rate, which is expected to be because I was paying for convenience, but the entire interpersonal exchange left a negative impression for me.

I am standing in front of the Currency Exchange. It is 5 min of 6pm. I understand they close in soon. I ask the person what the exchange is for 500 US to pesos. Instead of giving me the conversion he points to the rate. I pull out my calculator on my phone since he apparently is not going to do it. Now it is 3 minutes of 6p and he has walked away. What?? Where did he go? Probably needs to get fired. Unbelievable.

For the most part they just ignore you unless you get their attention somehow. They don’t carry a lot of cash so you might need to place an order and it can take 1-3 business days but they will call you and let you know. The rate is lower than average but at least they don’t take a service fee. They usually hold your order for 2-3 days then you got to place the order again. Compared to other exchange places not too bad.

One of the few places in SF to get currency exchange. The fee is very minimal and they are very reliable. We have used them twice and have not had any problems.

I went to Currency Exchange International on account that I was given a €10 Euro (ten euro) and needed to cash it in. I went there by going through the side entrance to Westfield Mall which is next to the Razor gaming lab, transaction costed me $3.00 as the minimum exchange rate as there is a $3.00 minimum exchange fee when you do $199 or less. I ended up getting $7.25 back, the transaction went quick, there was only 1 person infront of me and one person behind so overall was smooth, no extra paper work or accounts to create. Overall gave a 4 star because they do not offer any crypto exchange options which I felt in this day and age should be an option.

Worst Forex Bureau in the World. I exchanged euro against dollar at parity (1 € = 1 £) mid November when 1 € = 1.11 $
