Cute & small dessert shop. The flavor combinations are fantastic and each dessert is like a little piece of art.
Found this little gem on a Google whim on my birthday trip to San Francisco. The confections are made from a creative blend of ingredients that leaves you wanting more. They also have sorbets. I hope the next time I visit they try using lavender in some of their confections. Definitely, a place to visit while in the City.
Pricey but each Chocalate, macaron, cake, and gelato made with incredible love and care. The flavor combinations are so yummy and unique. The fillings inside of the mousse cake are so delicious and go beyond the cake texture.Order:Couple of caramelized truffle chocalates.Churro Gelato was amazing!Lavender and sesame macaron.Mango and purple velvets mousse cake.
The presentation was nice and delicate, the flavor note was also decent, its just the sweetness level was on the higher side which doesnt really match the petite gateaux scene. In all the three items we tried, the sweetness was overpowering all the nice flavors and aromas. Have to say I expected moreβ¦
Do not order the sage chocolate. Worst flavor I have ever had in a chocolate
We got the tiramisu when I came here after hearing so many people rave about it. It was great how it was just the right amount of sweetness and you can even see the kitchen they have in the back! The lady that helped us was a joy. She helped us pick out a dessert and told us the customer favorites as well as her personal favorite!
Magical desserts! So unique and creative, from truffles to macarons to popsicles and all kinds of cakes and things in between. All the desserts are small which is wonderful because you can easily share half a dozen little things without being overwhelmed by the sugar. So many creative flavor combinations!
These chocolates are so delicious. π€©I got the honey... lavender? and the sage .. basil? Not sure of the exact names. The flavors are creatively paired and work well together. The packaging is cute and sweetly prepared. Great gifts for your friends or for yourself. πIve also tried one of the ice cream bars, fig mascarpone, and it was good too. For me, the chocolates are more satisfying than the ice cream bars.
For my first visit it was ok. But Iβll have to return to find something I want.Sixth Course is a small dessert cafe that features a dessert counter and a few seats. Itβs not a cafe, nor a place to get anything savory. The shop offers 3 dessert cases. First is chocolates and macaroons, second is pastries, third is frozen gelato bars. The chocolates and macaroons did look good but nothing special. High quality chocolates are easy to find in San Francisco. The pastries were stunning to look at. Being a former pastry chef I appreciated the art. What I found annoying was the cost of each pastry was $14-16. And the size was designed for 2 (or one large appetite). These are the restaurant style deserts you no longer see in restaurants. Also the flavors were very polarizing (violet, walnut, etc). Nothing simple or that played on familiar tastes (butterscotch, salted caramel, citrus). What I wanted to see was a small tart, cake, cheesecake, etc. or about $8. FYI another place with similar high quality pastries is Craftsman and Wolves. The gelato bars were cute. I would have loved a scoop of gelato but that didnβt seem to be an option.Cookies, tarts, candies, espresso drinks, and scoopable gelato are all items missing that would help bring in customers.Sixth course reminds me of a place that belongs on Santana Row, for high brow clients to spend 10 minutes swooning over the name with the staff, 10 minutes asking what every ingredient to every pastry is, then to say there on a diet and walk away with nothing or one chocolate.
This place is an experience that includes visually stunning desserts displayed in a beautifully decorated cafe. I love that each selection is crafted so elegantly that it really feels like it was created just for me. I enjoy being able to view into the kitchen and see where the magic of creativity is taking part.I truly recommend this place to everyone. Your taste pallet will be delighted and your sweet tooth craving will be deliciously satisfied!
Consistently and deeply impressed by the originality and diversity of the flavor profiles of Chef/Owner Gianina Serranoβs desserts. She is the real dealβand also such a warm and gracious member of the local community. I hear folks in some of the other reviews about the slightly high costs, but each of her desserts is an actual, physical work of art and in my opinion worth every penny. If you want a 4-dollar piece of cake, go to the Safeway dessert aisle, you know? Forever a patron of this magical, charming little shop, and in admiration of whatever goodies Ms Serrano dreams up there.
Yummy desserts. The owner was gracious and took her time explaining the desserts to me and talking about them. I didnt feel rushed. They were to die for
Incredible dessert. We got the triple chocolate brownie and the peachy keen. Each was very thoughtfully made. Will absolutelybe returning.
Incredible dessert and service! My husband and I were visiting from Nashville and had a serious chocolate craving one evening. I found them online, and we were absolutely tickled with the place. The woman working the counter was a doll - super friendly, had dinner and drink recommendations in the area, let us try a sample - and the chocolates were just as sweet. We tried one of the chocolate pastries and took a box of truffles and macarons to go. Divine.
I visited this place for the first time with my friends during our mini girls trip, and I can definitely say that I am in love with their ice cream. The taste was definitely unique. It was a mixture between yogurt/frozo and ice cream. I couldnt get enough of it. Besides the delicious desserts, the aesthetic was beautiful I must say. I was so in love with all the purple flowers, and just the vibe in general. This place is definitely a nice place to go on a mini dessert date with your loved ones and friends or family. I loved it!
These chocolates are so good, theyll make you forget your new year resolutions not that expensive either! Cute gift boxes available. Highly recommended!
Attention to detail is the keyword here on the desserts being made here. Seating is sparse for a big group, but the presentation is fine dining. A bit pricey, but quality shines here.
Quite possibly the best dessert Ive ever had. Absolutely delicious.
I just had the most delicious chocolates gifted to me. Amazing and stunningly beautiful.
Came here because so many praised the place. The boar ice cream was so goooood. I loved it. It was smooth and delicious. The portion was ok. The price a bit high- But hey, it tastes great. The place is quite busy and it seems like the staff was not able to handle the orders well. I dont thinkthere were large orders but it took some time for our order to come out.Still love the place :D
Whenever I am in the mood to feel like Marie Antoinette I go to Sixth Course. I always feel like a queen eating their confections. Everything is always delicate and tasty from the truffles to gelato to the creme de pots. The ladies who run the joint are fantastic. I also appreciate their interesting hours of operation because Ive had many a late craving for dessert and theyre there at 9pm after all the bakeries and candy stores are closed.
This is definitely the place to wow any foodie! We celebrated my brolawβs Birthday here and danced with joy with every bite (literally). Lots of gluten free options. Loved!!!!
The chocolates were really good. Did you want to know more about this place? What else do you need to know? They were friendly, thats true. It wasnt super-cheap or super expensive. Still, bottom line: the chocolates were really good.
Cute little dessert shop. They have handmade chocolates, ice cream bars, and delicate looking desserts. Highly recommended!
The most expensive chocolates Ive ever had. Small portions. Limited seating where you have to stare at the wall. Was tasty, but definitely not worth the money.
This place is so nice and chill. If you are looking for a dessert place that isnt soo sweet, pick this one :) i like how you can also sit outside balcony and watch the view. Overall, i really love this place. The desserts are super cute.
Amazing dessert place by a very talented woman who is from SF. Worth going out of your way for!
The best desserts Ive found in the mission so far. The most appealing display cases. Surprising great coffee too
Beautiful and delicious desserts from the team who is passionate about desserts. Iβm lucky to live across street from Sixth Course and have been come here regularly for almost 3 years. Cakes, gelato, truffles are all good. My favorite is Pot de creme.
Wayyyyyy more than alright but I could not just whip a 5 out of my back pocket either. When you order one the waitressβ recommendations for βBest Dessertsβ...I mean to the majority of your crowd, not just YOURSELF!!!!!?????!!!!!
Ran across this hidden treasure between the Mission and Castro Districts. Scrumptious...
So so so in love with this secret spot. Itβs delicious and artistically beautiful and the spiced hot chocolate is to die for!
An amazing find between the Mission and Castro districts! The pastries are not only delicious but are works of art.
The macarons were stale, flavorless, and with too little filling. It was disappointing.
Great truffles. Too sugary for desserts. Id rather something a bit less rich. Couldnt have more than 2 spoons of any dessert
Amazing! Everytime we stop by there is a different dessert. The truffles are addictive. The gelato is lucious. And the level of design and attention to detail in desserts is spectacular. Then you take a bite and an explosion of flavor and texture fills your senses. Kids beg to stop by every chance they get. Parking is a big challenge but it is so worth it!
How is this place so hidden away. Also really suggest staying and watching them make the sweets in the back if you can. It is enchanting.
Nice... But tad bit expensive. ~$15 per dessert.. The nice ones.
Its been closed both times Ive visited during the posted hours. Really frustrating when youre taking a 35 minute ride just to visit the place. In the small time I stood outside the shop I noticed several other confused customers walk up to the door also believing it would be open.
Delicious chocolates and ice creams, and all are gorgeous like little jewels! The owner is also especially nice and friendly, and happy to talk with you about chocolate and the process.
I was very pleased that the Sixth Course here tastes the same as the Sixth Course in korea! if you are looking for a strong ube flavor, this place may not be for you as its a more subdued purple yam flavor (to be honest, i think each country prepared their purple yam differently, as Ive tried and beniimo and they seem to have their own tastes). we tried the green tea bingsoo for the first time and we loved the flavor of that as well!
Women who run this place are sweet! Haha! The chocolates are pricey, but totally worth it as a treat yourself gift.
So much tasty goodness!! From the made from scratch gelato to the amazing and surprising truffle flavors, you must stop here for dessert!
Nothing I have found compares to this in the whole Bay Area! The girls are excellent and passionate at what they do.
Galeto Pops, Truffle Shuffles, small batch chocolate and caramels to die for! Support your local small batch chocolatier store by stopping in and purchasing some deliciousness. I promise you wont be disappointed infact you will tell all your friends about this diamond in the rough.
Good food decent portions, but as per usual its expensive cuz its down town SF.
I tried the chocolates and they are absolutely wonderful, I came back for the cakes and I couldnt believe, this is a gem of a place and Gia is the best...
Outstanding presentation! Unfortunately no good vegan options
Love love love this place! Yummy desserts and beautiful company
Not worth the money even in San Francisco. Dry chocolate cake for $12.
Best truffles ever! Beautiful desserts
Desserts were all so sweet to the point where youre biting into sugar granules. Also extremely overpriced.
Came for a quick snack after dinner. Left with a happy chocolate-filled stomach.
Incredible one of a kind and Delicious!
Great German food for dinner and them we found this little store with very good desserts!!!
Beautiful, creative, elegant, funny, delicious. The best in SF.
Best patisserie in sf. Expensive but amazing taste and inventive decorations.
Some of the best desserts ive ever had and the owner is super nice. Stopped by on my trip to San Francisco and was one of the highlights of my trip wish i had gotten more.
Hearty Spiced Hot Chocolate!
Its good but a Lil pricey for what they offer..
Super nice chef, helps you pick out different boxes for different tastes
Got some treats for christmas holy moly they smell and look yummy merry christmas!
Omg amazing! Beautiful and tasty!
Didnt actually get to try the bonbons that I purchased because they were a gift, but they were beautiful.
They always have interesting desert pieces. It makes it difficult to get desert in a restaurant, when I can stop by here instead.
Sixth Course is located in the shady area of mission district, 15th street. People who live in the city know what 16th and mission is known for. Conveniently, the Bart station is a block away so there is no need to drive during the day. Please, do drive at night if you do come to visit Sixth Course. Each truffle costs $2 each. There are more than 10 different kinds of truffles to choose from! The packaging of which the truffles goes into is sustainable and sturdy. The truffles do not rock back and forth in the box and does not melt (unless you purposely put it in the sun). The gelato pops are $5 each. There were 3 different flavors when I went. Apparently, Sixth Course change out the flavors of the pops. So keep a look out for your favorite kind of pop!The other desserts like the dessert in the jar or cakes are $6.My first time at Sixth Course, I got the Huckleberry Panna Cotta Verrine $6 (Vanilla Huckleberry panna cotta, Huckleberry Gelee, Crispy Streusal). The panna cotta is also vegetarian and gluten free so I dont feel so bad indulging in this treat! With the first bite, I think I fell in love. The panna cotta tasted so smooth and creamy, almost like pudding. And lately, Ive been in a crazy pudding phase. I cant wait to try the other panna cotta - the Exotic Verrine. With my Panna Cotta, I also bought 2 truffles. It was an extremely hard decision to make. I decided on earl grey and champagne cosmo. The earl grey truffle didnt look like the typical color of an earl grey. But oh boy, it taste amazing! It melted in my mouth. For the champagne cosmo truffle, there was a bit of a kick to it. A taste of bitterness or a hint of alcohol. Anyway, I enjoyed both of the truffles and now Im hooked. Ill be back to try the exotic truffle - passion fruit habanero!Ill definitely be back for more truffles, desserts and gotta try the gelato pops!Note - Sixth Course accepts credit cards.
Deliciously innovative chocolate truffles, cakes, and gelato pops.
I just live a block from this new store....wandered by and stopped in...these are exceptionally fine chocolates, made on site..I fear developing a serious addiction....Pat
Such a unique set of desserts but I really hate the area it is located in.
Delicious triple chocolate cake,
