Great flavors and creamy texture of the gelato! My favorite is the brown butter, it’s so good. Last time I went in, I felt a little rushed and not like they gave me a proper scoop but overall really like this place

Great flavors, some traditional and some more creative. We had cookies and cream, malted chocolate ship, chocolate balsamic. All good but the browned butter is amazing. Very reasonable and generous servings for gelato. Plus, they still give samples. Loved this place!

Cute little spot with a lot of choices. We only had one cup of gelato but it was VERY good. I would highly recommend a stop if you are in the neighborhood and in the mood for ice cream. The service was good. Prices were so so but candy, ice cream, etc... in these tourist areas area always that way. Nothing different here.

The quality of this gelato shop is amazing! It’s not the worst calorie bomb if you order their sorbet’s. I got a pint order of their chocolate orange sorbet at their freezer section. It tastes like a light version of orange chocolate if you’re into. Definitely recommend giving them a try!

Flavors are fun and exciting. They dont taste processed. Gelato is light and airy and we enjoyed it very much and will definitely come back when we are in the north beach area.

I was just in there and got a medium 4 flavors (ricotta lemon zest, dark chocolate, fresh mint chocolate chip, and strawberry balsamic) it was the best ice cream Ive EVER HAD, and Ive had some amazing homemade ice cream! Generally good. However, whatever you do, do not get their mint flavor. I am generally a fan of mint, but this is possibly the worst mint flavored ice cream I have ever had.

Amazing gelato. The brown butter honeycomb was out of this world. The crunchiness of the honeycomb complements the velvety and richness of the brown butter gelato. The dark chocolate was also pretty good but a little too sweet for my taste.

I dont get the hype on this place. The gelato is way too sweet and served way to soft and on a hot day melted within a minute. The flavors are unique and I love that but also they dont taste like the real thing. We got dulce de leche, cookies and cream, and rocky road and neither of these 3 flavors were a good version of say a good rocky road ice cream. The chocolate base in the rocky road as an example didnt taste like a good chocolate gelato and hence lied the problem. In the city, Mr and Mrs Miscellaneous or Bi-Rite is far better and just on another level. This is a pass.

So. Dang. Good. I go once a week! Get everything. Its fresh made on site, organic. They have vegan options

Mint and chocolate chip almost tasted like berry and chocolate chip instead. Fast service and large selection, but is not cheap.

Lush Gelato has consistently been my favorite ice cream/ gelato place in the whole city. Specifically, I have not met a friend who has not enjoyed their mint chocolate chip gelato. Made from scratch in store, you can taste the fresh quality ingredients with every bite. Not only is the gelato incredible, but the service is remarkable. There are two usual workers - a man and a woman. They are extremely generous with samples and are genuinely passionate and excited to tell you about the flavors. One time when their credit card/loyalty system was down they gave us our order for free. I cannot say enough good things about this place, but hope you can try it and let the gelato speak for itself.

I stopped in to try their vegan gelato and I was definitely impressed! They had two flavors, strawberry watermelon balsamic and espresso chip. Both were super tasty and rich! They also have a lot of non vegan options. There are to-go pints and everything is made in house.I will definitely return!

Erica was an absolutely fantastic person, and if you get the chance to talk with her you will absolutely enjoy it! A couple friends and I went here on a Friday night and ended up spending over 20 minutes looking through flavors and laughing with Erica.The ice cream was also a delight. We were huge fans of the Whisky Rice Crispies and the Salted Strachiatella, and the Mint Ice Cream had such an authentic taste to it too. Overall, an absolutely amazing experience, I could not recommend this place more highly.

A very favorite gelato spot for me! A definite go to after some pizza at Tony’s if you want some sweets! A good handful of unique and seasonal flavors to choose from and the delicious cones makes for a yummy treat. Enjoy for a walk around the neighborhood or on the bench outside. Did I mention they have pints to take home and they are super friendly too!

Delicious flavors and yes samples are a must with cowgirl creamery and valrona chocolate.

Im from Argentina and the thing I missed a lot was the gelado and its flavors. I recommend trying the dulce de leche and the special bombon.

Pictured is the salted straciatella and espresso with chocolate chunks. The medium is a lot bigger portion than I thought it would be! A small is probably more than enough for most. The taste of the gelato is fresh and amazing, and they have space for you to sit down and enjoy it, unless the place is super packed of course (I came at a good time, and although there was seating, I decided to enjoy my gelato while walking back home).This seems to be a franchise, as there’s another one in Polk St, but I haven’t been to that one. It doesn’t matter though as although it doesn’t have the Italian vibe of other gelato shops, it definitely more than makes up for it by the delicious flavors!

Get the Mint or the brown butter pecan. Out of this world good.

My friends and I stopped in today and decided to pass despite the great reviews. There were people sitting at the indoor tables working on laptops without masks on. Then, we saw the server touch an ice cream cone with her bare hands and then put it back (she was the only one working so surely took payments with her hands).

Their Dulce de leche is a must try. They got it right, best or even better recipe than the one you can get in Argentina. Thats a lot to say, those guys invented it! Hard to find the entrance though, they can use a bigger sign outside.

As someone always in search of the finest tasting Gelato on the planet, I have found it at Lush Gelato in North Beach, San Francisco. I dont write this post lightly as I have had Gelato all over the world, in the finest places you can imagine. My visit to Lush consisted of having their mint and lemon Gelato. Rather than getting the typical artificial taste of these two fruits, my mouth got the real deal mint and the real lemon taste. I wondered how this was made and the owner told me they blend real mint leaves and squeeze the lemons to make the base for the Gelato-- a very labor intensive process. We were in the city for the day and we were glad to have found and try this place. The flavors were amazing and on point and the service was quick friendly.I’m not sure what other gelato places do but the only thing I could recommend is a definitive line so that people can’t just walk in front of people if it does get busy.

This is my go-to gelato place in the neighbourhood - the flavours are really unique and made from fresh local ingredients, and there’s always a fresh batch of some flavours made everyday which is posted on their Instagram account! I can’t believe this place isn’t as hyped as it SHOULD be. What a wonderful gem in the North Beach neighbourhood!

Like other reviews, staff here was very rude! Im a regular customer of Lush on Polk, but recently I went into Columbus St. branch with my 3 year old niece who wanted some chocolate ice cream. They offered a variety of chocolate flavors, however the staff wasnt patient enough to listen to what she needed. He pushed us, and presented with the most unfriendly manner ever. We just walked off. There are many other good ice cream places in the city that are not racist.

The brown butter chocolate honeycomb is to die for

We tried the mango and vanilla flavors. Huge portions (a small is too much for 2 adults). Similar to the Naia gelateria that used to be in this spot, we thought the fruit flavor was better than the creamy one: the mango one was smooth and full of mango flavor, but the vanilla was a bit less smooth/creamy and had a bit of a sticky feel. Still not a bad place overall. The Polk location might have fresher/more flavors?

Always excellent gelato and sorbetto. Except the banana. Thats the only one I ever did not finish.

Wonderfully creamy and light gelato. Love the rotatig menu of flavor from the classic to the creative.The service was great. I was able to sample a few flavors before ordering a cone. I especially appreciate that Lush offers split scoops so that I dont have to choose between top two flavors.

This is my favorite gelato place in SF, it is extremely cheap compared to other places ($4.50 for a large scoop), extremely variable flavors, and very welcoming staff. This is a must if you stop by North Beach.

Replaces Gelataria Naia that was here for a long time, but this place is a welcome addition. Staff is super friendly and are patient in letting you sample their flavors. Their malted milk & salted chocolate chunks gelato is amazing, and their waffle cones are magical.
