What impressive tastes of these cheese tarts! I came from China and I ate egg tarts growing up. When I saw these tarts, I thought they were different flavors of egg tarts. But actually they are all cheese tarts. My friend tried an original flavor and I tried a lemon flavor, they are both very impressive. It tastes a little bit like the egg tarts but even more flavorful and creamy inside & crunchy outside. I’ll definitely try different flavors the next time.
Its tasty and definitely worth trying. I think their chocolate is the best flavor, and their classic/plain is second best. The quality of the matcha is not great so weve only gotten it once and the strawberry was downright bad. I do wish they were made fresh. It seems that they come frozen and then get an egg wash and baked.
Simply The Best!!!They only have the cheese flavour in my home country so this is a new experience for me. The best cheese tart I ‘ve ever eaten. The original cheese tart is the most flavorful but I personally love the lime pie. Matcha is also awesome if you love matcha. Not a big fan of chocolate and S’more but give them a try if you can.
If youre lactose..sorry this dessert might not be for you. But this is my favorite cheese tart shop in San Francisco. I love their flavored tarts. They have it inside the Starfield sf mall. These freshly baked tarts are originated from Hokkaido Japan. Its made of Hokkaido cheese and milk. 🧀 1 is $3.5 and 6 are $21.00 usd. They have chocolate, strawberry, matcha, blueberry. Orange and coconut .Instagram@connoisseur009
Originally had this in Tokyo, Japan. I was overjoyed to know that it is finally here in CA, USA. The best cheese tart I’ve ever had. Option to eat it right out of theboven you get the crunchy crust and cheese that melts in your mouth. I like it cooler right out of the fridge. Either way it is so good. They offer seasonal flavors-- apart from the original cheese, I love the chocolate, honey almond and strawberry. I hope they stay in this location and not close down due to the pandemic. Staff here are friendly and fast. Always going back for this. A must try!
The best. Absolutely delicious. Like the smoothest, lightest cheesecake in a flaky, buttery tart. Every time I go, the tarts are fresh. Tried the apple pie for the first time...also delicious. Puff pastry type crust (very light and buttery, not greasy) with apple filling. Slight bite to the apple pieces. Nice. :)
Matcha and original are the must trys. Pricey but sooo good. Always feels like a real treat because each bite gets savoured. A harmony of flavour and textures achieved only through quality.
I love having the original cheese tart. No matter how many times i eat it, it always feels like the first time.Theres always a small line but its worth the wait.I recommend getting at a minimum 6 cheese tarts and eating them on the same day while they are fresh. The matcha and strawberry flavors are also great 😄
If you havent tried these cheese tarts (buttery crunchy crust with rich but light cream cheese fillings), do it now! Though they are super yummy, each small cheese tart is about $4.This little shop is located on the underground level of Westfield Shopping Center, close to the entrance to Powell BART station. There is a line most of the time, but it goes by quickly. Check out the seasonal flavors as it changes frequently (Honey Lemon, Japanese Lime, Milk Tea...) I like the original and the strawberry flavors
Crazy good. If you like cheesecake and egg tarts. Great! If you combined them together, you get something thats worth waiting in line for. Line was long, but thats to be expected. They have a variety of different flavors, but you cant beat the original. We bought a 6 pack because we wanted to try all the other flavors. But bought more of the originals. It is delicious, but I personally like them after theyve cooled down. If you eat them warm, its a bit runny. All the flavors are good, but we agreed that original were the best. We also got the blueberry, Japanese lime, honey lemon, My only fret was the price. Kinda pricey for something I can stuff in my mouth, Since its really only meant as a treat, its fine. But I recommend you try it if youre in the Westfield SF center.
Have to say this is the most popular bake store recently in San Francisco, comes from Japan, every day will see a long line waiting in front of the store. Especially weekend, at least up to 45mins waiting. Speak as the tasty, I think if it is a regular store no need to wait a long time, I will say it worth a try, but plus have to wait so long, I dont think it worth ...
This is the best place to get cheese tarts, they are bussin. i recommend the macha flavor, its really good. i also recommend the apple pie. love this place
When I saw the long line, I thought this must be good and I should try it. The result--well, its okay.Staff was polite, but not very friendly. The cheese tarts look like Chinese egg tarts. Since its a little rich in taste, it would be better if they make it smaller. I like the original flavor the best. The limited edition Hojicha didnt have enough tea flavor in it. There was nothing special about the chocolate flavor. With the price of $3.75 a piece, trying it once was enough. I still prefer the Chinese egg tarts.
This tart is cheesy and light and buttery and amazing. Its not as sweet as the usual American pastries so I love it. They have a version with chocolate which is to die for as well. I wish we had more pastry shops like this is SF. If someone sees this comment and knows something similar please let me know.
Yummy cheese tart. My friend got them for me and I liked them a lot.
The cheese tarts here are the bomb! Its nice & flaky and is the right amount of sweetness. I ordered the milk tea cheese tart and the regular cheese tart and really enjoyed it. I also appreciate that they offer different flavors in order to jazz it up a bit.The line is usually a 5-10 minute wait, but its well worth the wait. The only thing thats a bit meh is that that they offer a little discount if you buy 6 regular cheese tart. If you dont read it carefully, youll think its saying any 6...so watch out for that!Food: 8/10This is by far one of my favorite places to stop when I make a trip to Westfield mall! The cheese tarts are so creamy and the crust is always perfectly crisp. They always come freshly warmed, which adds another dimension to the already tasty snack. I highly recommend at least trying one!!Price & Portions: 7/10Each tart is $3.50-$3.75 so the price does add up! I usually get 6 tarts which is the perfect amount to snack on, with enough to share. Maybe Im biased because I love these tarts so much, but its definitely worth the cost.Service: 9/10The workers are always so friendly and quick to serve you! Its a stand in the mall, so not much to say about the ambience, but absolutely no complaints about the service!
Fast service. Delicious tarts!
Definitely overpriced but worth trying at least once. Its pretty tasty with just right amount of savoryness and sweetness. The crust is nicely finished as well - buttery and dense. Every bite finishes clean with minimal crumbles. I just wish they werent so pricey - over three dollars per tart thats almost small as a bite size.
They are good, but pricey. But my friend likes them & her bday is coming up, so another co-worker & i gonna surprise w/her favorite treat 💕
Treats that soothe the soul.May I suggest a 6 pack of the plain tarts? You will NOT be disappointed.
Love this place!!! Located in the food court area of the Westfield mall in Union square so may be a little annoying to get to but perfect if youre spending a day in Union Square. My only complaint is that the hours on Yelp is inaccurate at least for Sundays because when I went, it opened at 12pm! Google maps had accurate hours. Also, the worker showed up exactly at 12 which was disappointing because I had to wait almost another hour for him to finish baking everything/setting everything up. Not sure if I just went on an off day but beware!I believe they change up their flavors every so often but when I went they had original, strawberry, chocolate, matcha, and an apple pie! My favorites were the original and strawberry! The cheese tart tastes kind of like cheesecake but fluffier and the crust is better in my opinion. So yummy if Im in the area I have to get it! Their packaging is also very well made and the boxes make sure the tarts dont get smushed if you get a lot!
This store is from Japan, so many friends referred me Bake (because Im from Japan). When the store launched, they had always had long lines. Recently, if you go there at weekdays daytime and weekends morning, you can buy cheese tarts easily without lines. The staff members are nice and polite, and they have knowledge about the products. I bought a cheese tart and chocolate cheese tart. It was fine, but I guess I dont buy them anymore because I feel they are too fancy for daily sweets. I might buy them when I go to a friends house or somewhere that I need to bring something like a souvenir.
Tasty but too expensive. Thats why theres no repeat business.
We went about 2 months ago.So we heard about these tarts. I am a big fanatic about japanese food so I wanted to try it.First off the line was not too long but once we went in line it started to grow. They do move slowly because I think people buy a tons of these. We tried the original and green tea. I wasnt a fan of the green tea. But we loved the original. Nice creamy and tasty. The crust really makes these tarts. Overall we did like the original. If we are in the area sure but it isnt something we would go out our way to get.
I went during the weekday afternoon. Sales is a bit slow: a couple in from of me, and a girl behind me. The couple in front of me bought some cheese tart and a Matcha latte. When it’s my turn instead of spending 30 sec. to let me and the persons behind me get our tart and leave, the staff let me went in to make Matcha latte and let me waited for more than 13 mins. After 5 mins the girl after me left already. I waited for around 15 mins by the time I left the staff was still ‘making latte’. Very bad service.
It’s good, I really won’t come and buy it again. If you never had it think of those Mexican cream cheese square pastries. The filling on this is running in comparison but it tastes the same and the outside of it has a crunch of a cheesecake crust. At almost 4 dollars for a single tart it’s really not worth it. Not bad, just nothing wow that matches the price they ask for.
Love the cream cheese pastry
Amazing cheesecakes from heaven. Every flavor Ive tried has been amazing. The original cheese flavor is great. The different flavors vary frequently. It is not unusual to wait in line here.
Tasty little bite
Fun and delicious after dinner snack. Not too sweet, with a custard filling more like a creme brulee inside of a tart. Consistent but not superb. Worth a visit when you are in the area. The original is definitely their best but try the chocolate or another flavor for a nice variety.
I first thought they Egg Custard you can in Cantonese bakeries. I finally tried it one day and loved it. They came out with different flavors but I still like the original the most.
This has to be hands down my absolute favorite spot for desert. Since I first moved here I was told to give this place a try. I must say I am so glad I did, these small cheese tarts which come in a variety of flavors are worth every penny in my mind. They are a mixture of the perfect amount of flavor, sweet and decadent. I cannot in good will not tell a visitor to come a try at least one. The line may be long but it moves quickly and when you take that first bite you will understand my loss for words. 3 thumbs up from me as I said my absolute favorite desert of San Francisco!
Located in the Westfield San Francisco Centre, Baked Cheese Tart is now a must visit when Im in there area...I heard of Baked Cheese tarts when I was in Japan but only was able to try one of their competitors tarts: Pablo cheese tarts..they were delicious but the Cheese Tarts I had from Bake in SF...has them slightly beat imoThis bakery is dedicated for to go orders. There was a line of about 20 customers when we arrived. You can see the cheese tarts offered for the day behind the display glass that makes ordering easy for you. The line moved rather quickly as crew finished the orders as fast at they were ordered.Classic Tart: The 3 cheese blend makes this an absolute delight for me. Cheesy flavor with a hint of baked sweetness with a custard texture is the best description I could come up with for a description.Almond Cheese Tart: The almonds compliment the cheese tarts so well. They were generous with the sliced almonds on each tart.Japanese Lime Tart: The lime enhancement pairs well with the cheese tart for a yummy experience. My cheese tart experience at Bake Cheese Tart was fantastic. Im already looking forward to the next Cheese Tart experience. Enjoy!
I think I was simply passing by.
These Japan-inspired cheesecake tarts make this spot a worthwhile destination. Slightly sweet and creamy filling meets a perfectly crisp casing. The classic is “classic” for a reason, but I enjoyed the chocolate the most.
Well, I didn’t actually try them because the staff was rude so there’s no way I was patronizing that establishment. His reaction to my asking if I may please get warm tarts was short and uncalled for. He isn’t doing me a favor by doing his job. Large sale lost.
The best cheese tart I have ever tried. I initially thought cheese would make it heavy but it was the perfect consistency. We tried many but my favourites were the original, blueberry, lemon and coconut
Tarts were poorly packaged and ended up smush...
So good but also pricey (-1 star) Yet at the same time, I regret not buying a boxful.I traveled across country with these precious gems in Bakes jewelry box inspired packaging. After 10 hours of flying the tarts arrived just as delectable as when I purchased them. But can you please, please open more stateside locations to spread your goodness nationwide?????? Like now please!
The cheese tart itself is fine but they use laminated napkins that are horrible for the environment. Not only is it less effective as a napkin but it also makes the napkin not biodegradable.I’d give a 4 star if it weren’t the case.
Loved almost all kinds of tart here. But never go again after facing rude staff
Its expensive, but I really like these. try 1 original flavored thats fresh. its very light, so if youre use to super sweet things you may not enjoy it.
Loved this place while in Japan. Can’t believe my luck when they had a grand opening in San Francisco. Flew here to get some cheese tarts. The long line was well worth the wait. Tastes exactly like the ones I had in Japan. Amazing.
I really like the cheese filling but the crust is just way too hard. Its almost inedible. Chocolate filling is also nice. Very small takeout only. No private seating other than regular food court
Softest cheese tart you’ll ever have. Definitely recommend getting the original along with the other flavors.
A bundle of joy wrapped in a cheese tart :)So delicious and yummy..We had these in Japan and so glad its here in SF too.. thank you!!We tried the lemon honey tart and black golden matcha flavor
The original is absolutely perfect. If you’re in the area save room for this treat.
Great taste! As others have said it’s definitely pricey at $3.5 per tart but it’s totally worth the occasional indulgence. The original flavor was good, not a big fan of the matcha one.
Quick and easy to order. Great tasting tarts! No wonder the line is always long.
Sooo good!!Located in the basement of the San Francisco Centre mall, food court side... near Bart. Its so good!! Did I say that already? BUT I THINK they raised their prices. We went recently and it was like $23 (tax included) for only SIX pieces. I dont remember paying that much the first time I went.Since i live in San Jose, I would love to buy dozenssss, but the price of it holds me back (reason for 4 stars only).
I had the original cheese tart. There was no line when I went. The center is so creamy and the tart was light and flaky. I loved that it was not overly sweet.
This location is located inside Westfield SF. These cheese tarts are amazing but pretty overpriced in my opinion. They are a really popular shop in Japan and they sell them for around $2.4 each there. One cheese tart here is $3.50 and its about 2 inches in diameter. They have matcha, chocolate, and regular flavors. I personally love the regular and chocolate ones, especially if theyre hot.
OMG!!! This place is terrific!!!!! Im Italian and I never ate Italian food as delicious as in this place!!!!!! Unbelievable!!! Im talking about the Parma sandwich!Go for it fellas!!! Definitely!
Ugh theyre so good theyre going to make me fat
After having a late lunch at Westfield Mall and heading back to Bart, we ran across this Japanese chain Bake Cheese Tart shop. Not having ever tried before, my friend treated the group to sample the original cheese tart. Wow, the crunchy cookie like crust complemented the fluffy cheese filling, delicious! The chocolate and daily special strawberry tarts were already sold out :(. Pricy, unique treat, worth trying.
I tried the seasonal flavor, Matcha, and Original. Both were to die for! The Matcha had only a light Matcha flavor with the cheese still taking center stage. The crust has the perfect crunch to go with the gooey cheese center. They are not cheese cake - they are less sweet than that.
The line:The line is very long, and by experience you can estimate your wait to be about 1 - 1.2 min per person ahead of you.I also highly recommend getting there 10 mins before they open. This is tricky since the mall doesn’t open until 10, same time as the store. So, you can go next door and try asking the guard to let you into the Concourse or befriend someone that works in the offices above the mall to let you in.
I do not patronize these sorts of eateries, I am sorry. Yet Googles algorithmic parameters keep pestering me to review them when I just happen to walk past them.Google Maps needs to revise the review qualifications for a review to be justified. Just being nearby for a minute or two should not quantify the need for a review. In most instances I am merely passing by NOT visiting.
I tried matcha cheesecake today. It tasted almost like a pure butter and not so much Matcha or cheese cake. Very disappointed.
Amazing CheeseTarts. Went there around 4pm on a weekday and while there was a long line, it was not as long as during lunch time. The chocolate tarts have run out by then, but was totally worth the ~10 mins wait to get the tarts. The price is $3.50 each and a box of 6 goes for $21.Apparently according to the store these tarts can be kept in normal temperature for about 24 hours but I recommend eating them pronto :)
I came here on a Monday afternoon with no expectations. It’s alright a bit pricey for what you are paying for. I got the matcha tea flavor and the original flavor nothing special. I don’t know maybe it’s me.
Perfect balance of sweetness for this traditional creamy dessert
Yum - great dessert. Yesterday they offered hojicha and chocolate, both delicious!
Worth the wait. If you like tart and cheese cake, you will love this place!
Very good but not into the matcha or roasted tea. Stick to the classic!
Good mini tarts, almost as tasty as moms cheesecake from childhood.
Absoluteley delicious snack. Its kinda like a chinese egg tart but better.
