The owner was super friendly and a genuinely nice, cool dude. It was my first time taking my son there (since he’s recently shown interest in Alt/Goth/Steampunk styles. We recently made a trip to NY and my son loved St.Marks Place the most. I told him that we should hit up Haight & Ashbury back home. He had no idea we had cool stuff in the Bay Area too. This shop is one (if not - thee one) of the longest operating stores on Haight Street, SF. I love to support these shops that give heart to the neighborhood and keep the original vibes going.

What can anyone say, but..WOW!!If you havent been to the shop, you need to experience it for yourself.Vintage, beautiful clothing. New style Hippie ANYTHING! You want it.... its in there. Its a personal journey. Youll LOVE the store!

Was one of the few places I could find on the web listed as alternative or gothic clothing. Great selection even though they told me they were low because of burning man. Both staff were very friendly and helpful. Store was crammed full of stuff but didnt feel crowded or messy. Would definitely go back in back in San Fran.

I love this place, the staff was super helpful. I tried on a corset dress for the first time, and mmh...it fit like a glove. Sadly I couldnt afford it then, now I can but I cant find the website to order it on. Still a great store. I cant wait to go back.

5 stars for the owner!!! This guy was incredibly nice and helpful and filled with amazing stories. He helped me pick out a corset (I’ve never worn one before) and when my boyfriend found an item he wanted but they didn’t have his size, they ordered it and called him when it came in! It’s a bit pricey but I’m willing to pay a little more for exceptional customer service.

One of the coolest and oldest shops in SFO, I love this place they have such awesome stuff! The staff there are incredibly helpful and pleasant, dont leave the Haight without checking this place out!

Great store for steampunk and Victorian apparel. The owner is fantastic, he is very helpful on top of having great stories to tell. Wife choice of clothing in a very large price range, for me it was a dream come true.

This place is AMAZING! Went in to build a suit around the hat I already had, and it was a blast. The staff was extremely nice, and I will most definitely be going back in the future.

I was looking for new items in my personal collection. I found a piece and asked for a different size, but in contrast to the written declaration that the customers can ask for other sizes, it was told to me that there is nothing further in the warehouse. Later on, I got a look in a side room and saw a lot of stuff declared with the size I actually was looking for, but the stuff was not motivated to help me or give me any support. Finally, there is no reason not to order in online shops if I have a look on that, despite the fact that the collection they have in store is not that bad.

I purchased a kimono on consignment here (used, with flaws) for $180 +tax...i looked up the item online to see how much i had saved and the item was available brand new from the seller for $168. So boo.
