Bang for your bucks!I have tried their pizza slice - cheesy veggie. Totally delicious! Their sourdough crust has further enhanced the flavors. If you want to have tasty pizza, bread or pastries, this is definitely a place to try.All the items are economical too. They have everyday special pizza with organic seasonal veggies and other high quality ingredients.Don’t forget to order online if you want to have whole pizza of the day. They don’t have dine-in option but there are benches on the walkway to sit and eat.I will definitely go back to try pastries!
What can you say about the best bakery in the area? Sure there are places that have technically better baked goods, but you cant beat how consistent and friendly the staff at Arizmendi. During the pandemic, they have shifted to taking orders at the window, which is frankly a better experience than the crowded self serve style it used to be. Pizza is always a winner here. Only thing that could use improvement is the coffee. Power to this employee owned co-op!
Great bakery with yummy sweets and breads. They bake different types of cookies,, but the cowgirl cookie is my favorite. They make english muffins and whole wheat variety too! Their pizzas are great. Check their website for the pizza made during the week.I like their current setup where you tell them what you want at the door... much more efficient and cleaner. There is a line but it moves fast.
If you like savory baked goods get the focaccia pizza, tomato and olive focaccia, and cheese bun.Don’t be intimidated by the long line. There were 10 people in front of me and I don’t think the wait was more than 15 minutes. You can ask them to heat something up so you can enjoy it at the parklet in front of their shop.Inspired by the Berkeley co-op Cheeseboard, Arizmendi opened their SF location in 2000 and has another in the Mission on Valencia street. It’s named after a young priest who inspired and helped found worker-owned cooperatives in the Basque Country of Spain.
Arizmendi is Awesome! They have a great selection of baked goods all displayed through the window to choose from, bread, croissants, scones, muffins but also some savory stuff like focaccia.Ive tried a few different items and they all taste great. I always love savory pastries but even their sweet dough chocolate things turned out quite delicious to me.Service is friendly and fast (there is usually a line but it moves fast), and prices are very reasonable. Lovely sunny parklet in front of the shop but otherwise Golden Gate Park is just one block away!
Delicious pizza. Great staff. Well organized to go/COVID set up.
Was in the area for lunch and stopped by after. Such a lovely little bakery with delicious treats and friendly employees! My husband is hard to please when it comes to food, and even rated this one of the best bakeries he’s been to!
The concept is cool, lots of rotating pizza flavors and pastries. You can check online before going in!
The pizza of the day was sesame ginger mushroom — a flavor profile I have never experienced on a pizza but I am here for it! And that sourdough crust!!COVID-wise, this is a great place to get takeout. They have an outdoor ordering setup so you never actually step foot inside — wait in line outside, order and pick up at a window. We went on a Saturday at midday and there was a ~15 minute line. Once we ordered, the food came quickly. The pastries were also delicious (we got the carrot muffin and coffeecake; would recommend both).
Always amazing baked goods and gotta love the mushroom pizza on Saturdays.
Low-key member of the cheeseboard collective. Wish they served more of the green sauce like sliver and cheeseboard but they have this chipotle pesto that goes with the potato flavor and its the best. Wish they grilled the bottom crust like cheeseboard does tho.
Our neighborhood bakery, so we go there often. Great selection of breads, pizza, muffins, scones and cookies. Good service and everything that they bake is amazing.
Ordered the daily pizza and was not disappointed. Arizmendi was a tradition to my friends who introduced me - it may quickly become a tradition for me as well. The crust was chewy but soft - firm enough to solidly hold the delicious mushrooms and cheese on top. The entire selection inside is delectable - don’t stop at the pizza, get it all! Be prepared to wait in line for these amazing treats.
Love Arizmendi!.. their breads, cookies, weird pizzas, and especially the cornmeal-cherry scone… their ethos and politics, their community-mindedness…Every day they are baking into existence the kind of world I want to live in! 💕
I make sure to come here every time Im in SF and it has yet to fail me. Pizzas are always great and every pastry Ive tried has been good. They have a few vegan options as well which my girlfriend has gotten and also loved!
Great local honest solid bakery. While you wont find the finesse of a French cafe/bakery here, you will find solid and generous bake goods with good ingredient. We love the scones which are made with fresh berries. The sour dough based bread, pizza, rolls and foccacia can be chewy but is very filling. One pastry item can essentially be a meal replacement. We brought some and had it in a park for lunch which was lovely. The ones that we took home improves dramatically after being heated in the oven for 5-7 minutes.Service is friendly and genuine. Lovely neighbourhood vibe.
Absolutely magnificent food here! Well worth all of the hype that a friend of mine instilled! I wish I lived in San Francisco so I can come here every day
A worker-owned co-op with excellent scones, loaves and pizza. Friendly staff and great tasting baked goods.
This place always has a long line. I had the Mushroom pizza, Focaccia, and Chocolate Mint cookies. They were absolutely delicious! No wonder the line is always long!
Great hole in the wall bakery with some awesome baked goods! We loved the chocolate croissants, apricot scones, tomato and cheese focaccia, and cheese roll! I want to try the pizza next time Im in the area. The line was a bit lengthy, but moved pretty fast!
Good pizza, good pastries, amazing service. My to go for casual dinner gatherings
The half baked pizza is awesome for a tasty dinner
People, YUM! Get there now and as often as possible! I get the light bake daily pizza and finish cooking at home. Outstanding!!!
Friendly service, great selection of breads, focaccias, pizzas to grab and eat outside on the patio or at Golden Gate Park for a picnic. The patio is perfect for people watching while sipping on an espresso. The bakery has a pretty high volume of customers coming in and out. Lines sometimes form outside but move very quickly
We stopped in for breakfast on a weekday morning. In summary, incredibly friendly service, a great selection of pastries and breads and a lovely spot for people watching. The food we ordered was really tasty-a chocolate bun and a blueberry muffin to share which were both yummy. Although the staff didn’t know how to make one, they were extremely accommodating and made their own really tasty version of a flat white! So good I went back for a second. Also got a slice of pizza which was really good and took away a tomato, mushroom and cheese focaccia which we devoured for lunch, wishing we had more! We will definitely be back and could understand when we left why there was a constant queue at the door!
Great bake goods. Focaccia is filling and totally worth it. Flavors change daily. Kids love the Parmesan bread sticks. The scones are stellar. Pizzas change daily and are the cats meow. You can get a par baked pizza to take home and finish. Coffee cakes are only available on the weekends and I always buy. Employee owned.
Baked goods are out of this world. Loved their cream cheese cheesecake on Thanksgiving. Not a fan of their pizza—too cheesy for me.
This is a beautiful little Bakery and coffee shop with a old time original roaster in the window
Get ready for the line game that is very well worth it. Arizmendi is a staple in SF with 1 other location in the mission. THis one is conveniently located on 9th and Irving which can be reached by the N Muni, 7 bus or 44, parking can be tough when there isnt any at the lot across the street like on weekends during lunch/dinner and weekdays during dinner..The best plan is to tag team one stays in the car and the others stands in line...They are known for hella stuff mainly their pizza & focaccias. cant forget about their blueberry corn meal muffins and my absolute fave the cherry scone.. They have cookies, loafs of breads, granolas and of course coffee so it really is a one stop shop.. From the time they open to the time they close there are always people around, waiting in line or eating at their cute little parklet right outside.. Its convenient when taking the kids for a stroll or even a small group of friends splitting a pizza right away..Its made it onto several BEST LIST in SF/ BAY AREA and you really need to come experience why! =)
The focaccia was somewhat oily, but otherwise tasty
Very delicious, but a bit pricey for the product. The pizza is so good, and I love that you dont get to pick- its just whatever they make that day.
Pros: quality of all the bakes, community vibeMy favorite: pizza pie (sourdough crust! They make different pizza every day, and you can check out their pizza calendar on their website)Cons: You don’t have enough time to decide which ones you get. They have large selection of amazing bakes but you don’t get to see the closer look while waiting in line.
You cant top that in terms of customer service! We were there on a Sunday, and despite the fact that it was packed, it was not noisy. The food range is excellent, and the desserts are delectable. A must-see attraction!
The best bakery around. Amazing stuff. Must try. worth the wait
Always excellent pizza and tasty smaller baked treats, both sweet and savory! Last time we got a piece of crispy focaccia loaded down with olives and feta. So good! Theyve moved their operation to a front window and have all their baked goods on display in one place, which actually makes it easier to find and select options than it was before when you could go inside.
Delicious food, friendly workers. Social distancing rules were enforced by having us queue outside and order at a walk up window and then pickup at a table at what is usually the door.
Great spot for thin crust pizza besides the famous Chese Board pizza in Berkeley. Different pizza menu daily gluten free & vegetarian friendly. All vegies based pizza. Super flavorful. Dont think only meats can give you a nice taste pizza but variety of seasonal vegies & cheeses can also create a yummy pizza. Scones are another my go to pastry here. Always get the currant scone whenever Im in the neighborhood. So worth it.
Very good pastries, cookies, bread and pizza.
I’m glad I visited one of the Arizmendi locations. It’s a nice local bakery that has high quality pizza, sweet and savory pastries, cookies, etc. When I visited, I had the chocolate chip cookie and the mushroom basil pesto focaccia. The cookie was really good – not too sweet and a lot of chocolate included. My favorite was the focaccia because of the fresh pesto and garlic. It was oily but definitely a good oily. I would definitely recommend visiting Arizmendi.
Ive loved everything I tried so far.
Stopped by because I had seen lots of high reviews on Google. The line wasn’t very long and you can self serve the pastries while you wait in line. We got a chocolate pastry and a raisin brioche twist. It was a nice snack while we walked around the neighborhood. Make sure to bring cash because the credit card minimum is $10. They also sell pizza here.
So many options for baked goods. Personal favorite is the cowgirl cookie. Pizza / pizza-bread are delicious and vegetarian friendly (coming from an omnivore). Great choice for something savory.
Great tasting coffee and scones!
Our eyes were bigger than our stomach. The cheese twist bread sticks were a highlight.
The best bakery in San Francisco. Pizza rotates daily and it NEVER disappoints! Focaccia’s, muffins, chocolate thing, cookies, anything you get you will be happy and full!
Order ahead! Or wait in a very long line! Either way, you cant go wrong with anything here. The class sourdough is a must, and even better with some hummus! If you want pizza, they sell out, so act quick!
A truly great San Francisco kinda place. Its worker owned and operated and everything is fresh and its Pizza of the Day is legendary.
Eh. Asked for a cup of water and got a snarky we DONT normally do this. Ok, then I wont normally buy a whole pizza from you. Easy fix.
Best sourdough I ever had. Fantastic pizza too; perfect thin crispy sourdough crust.
Wonderful bakery 👌 Everything they offer is so delicious 😋
Fantastic pastries and (pre-lockdown) they had excellent coffees too! Id always go for a Chocolate Thing if they have them! Makes for a great breakfast on the go. Have to get there early, though, theyre in high demand!
I love the vegan mint chocolate chip cookie and the corn cherry scone! Everything is wonderfully tasty
Wonderful spot for pizza and pastries! My husband said it’s the best he’s had in a while. Picked up a half pie and ate at golden gate park, it did not disappoint! Such a nice combination of cheeses and vegetables all on top a nice crunchy crust.
One of the better bakeries Ive been to - great variety, flavorful, mostly natural / organic ingredients and a very courteous service. Humble decor that affords it an authenticity of focus on product quality. Always has a steady flow of customers that guarantees you always get fresh food. Tried the oats scone, olive pizza, chocolate cake and sourdough bread - all well made.
Delicious moist scones! Brioche knot also bomb.
Amazing as advertised. Delicious and affordable, love their pizza dough and sweet & savory snacks. No line at 5pm on a Wednesday.
Great food excellent staff many choices of baked goods. Love the daily pizza
5min line and 5 min wait for half a pizza. No individual slices. Enjoyed my corn bluberry muffin right a way. Yum.
Nice selection of baked goods including gluten free options.
Always freshly baked, delicious. Like homemade
Top tier baked goods. There is always a line around the block and for good reason. The line moves quick and everything is great.
Fabulous food. Quick and friendly service
Pizza of the day was incredible
My first time at this Arizmendi location, but its just as amazing as the others. Delicious pizza and pastries.
Yummy pastries and fococcia. Cant go wrong here. Also it is a worker collective. So its pretty community oriented.
Love their daily pizza (every day is a different flavor) and shortbread cookies. Make me smile
Good stuff but long line. Waited 10 mins got up to the register, sold out of what I wanted! Because there is a line, they should post in of the store what they run out of! Then you dont have to stay in line if you choose not to!
Excellent, Al ways. Great Great scones & beads. Plus, love that is a cooperative. Need more!
Amazing focaccia
This place is amazing! Great fresh bread, English muffins, etc.Would highly recommend trying their rustic english muffins!
Great pastries, especially the pecan roll and cookies. There are gluten-free options at this location but not at the Valencia location.
Its Arizmendis so of course it is delicious! A little bummed that they are not doing slices during covid, Im sure theres a safety reason here but I cant seem to figure out what that would be. I do wish this place had a better system for phone orders. Sometimes Im able to ask through the window and they get it to me and sometimes they just make me stand in line until I reach the window to pick up my order which defeats the purpose of ordering ahead. Not too much love lost here though since Arizmendis is just too yummy
Always a line, always worth the wait, but if you order online, you can skip the line altogether and waltz up to the Pickup Window. 🙆🏻♀️👍Fruit scones to die for!
Mixed feelings! Ordered the blackberry and plum scone and barely found anything on the inside. I thought they might have given me the wrong order but finally I found one isolated blackberry that confirmed that indeed it was the right order. As you can imagine without much fruit, it was pretty doughy. With that said, it was the right consistency and the exterior was perfectly golden and crumbly. So if you put jam on it or something it would be heavenly but I don’t think it’s fair to call it a certain type of fruit scone with just a hint of it inside. I didn’t even take a photo because it would’ve been disappointing. Oh well, will give them another chance next time!
Delicious bakery! Have never purchased anything here that I wasnt drooling over. Open with a pick up window during COVID. The line gets long, but its worth the wait!
