Ive moved recently and had to leave 3 of my cats behind, so I was itching for kitty cuddles!Perfect place to come to, most of the cats are very chill, my favourites have to be Blinks and Maud, the friendliest and cuddliest of the bunch (dont forget to ask about them when youre there!)The staff is extremely friendly and polite, ask them about the cats and theyll help you get to know the cats personalities and origin stories, I love knowing where theyre coming from.
Wonderful place for someone who doesnt or cant have their own cats! Its such a friendly, calm, safe, and relaxing atmosphere. There are maybe 8 or so cats in a medium sized room with tons of toys and small cat obstacles like ladders and a really cool circular treadmill type thing. They also have multiple automatic litter machines which I think were really cool. There was a hanging chair with a cat napping on it which looked pretty picturesque. The people there were very nice, very knowledgeable, and clearly loved the animals. They were informing us about acclimatizing new cats to the place and the other cats, as well as isolating ones that felt uncomfortable. They had a place for feral/semi-feral cats to hang out (small transparent locker type cages) without being bothered by all the currently free roaming cats. These days they dont have any drinks or anything, but they did offer a can of Kombucha after you get out. The place was very nice, very friendly, and very clean.Would absolutely go again to meet blinks the lovable one-eyed cat who started walking over our shoulders as a bunch of us strangers made a train for her to walk over.
Awesome! I highly recommend :) a nice little spot and the cats seem well taken care of. They also have a cool gift shop. Most of the time one of the workers were talking to people about the cats they were interested in and seemed knowledgeable. I had this really cute one that loved to sit on my lap. You can also adopt cats there Wich I think is so awesome. If you are near sf, definitely check this place out!!!
Ill start off by saying that my first visit to the KitTea Cat Lounge was when it was located at the other end of SF. Fast forward to their change of locations.. I decided to visit again since I had loved my last experience so much. Sadly, I was extremely disappointed. The current location is a lot smaller than the older one (which is fine) however this is NO LONGER A CAFE at all. No food is available. In addition, our session was cut about 10 minutes short which I found frustrating given each ticket was $50 for the FULL time advertised. The staff didnt really interact with us even though we were the only ones there and the cats didnt approach us at all. For the entirety of our time there we attempted to get at least one cats attention but failed. I at least expected the staff to offer us some cat food to help us interact with the little babies and get closer to them but nothing was done in regards to this. Overall left really upset and unfulfilled. I feel like the prices are unfair given what we received.
The kitties are so beautiful and friendly, and look very well taken care of!! I can’t express how happy this trip made me! I think it’s very worth it. The place is kept very clean as well, and have many cute gifts
While the staff here might be decent human beings, there is an obvious lack of customer service experience. There is a sense of a superiority complex going around as they are more familiar with the animals than the guests, which for one, nobody cares, and two procures a very unwelcoming atmosphere.Advertising a 30 minute session and ending 5 minutes early is unacceptable when they are charging the prices they are. It is not an inconvinience, you are expected to work the full session we are paying for regardless if its near closing time or not. Advertise the slot correctly or work the entire shift, pick one.Lastly, the place isnt really a cafe, the drinks are cans from a fridge, which is fine but shouldnt be advertised as a full-on cafe. All in all, its an alright place with good intentions. There is a lot of potential here that is yet to be exploited. This place doesnt really blow you away, and going in with that mindset might produce a better experience.
You spend an hour with adorable friendly cats. Whats more to say? Price is a bit high, but worth it.
Super cute cats!We made a reservation online and paid online. Our time slot was at 3PM and unfortunately most of the kitties were napping at this time.I think these cats get a lot of visitors and are pretty aloof towards people. They wont approach you but youre free to pet them.It is a little pricier but I understand why. Its still a one time visit for me, as Im not usually in the area.
Any cat lover, especially if youre on a trip far away from your own furry friend, can not pass up an opportunity to spend an hour petting, holding or playing with a dozen or so cats, some residents of the place and some rescue cats waiting to be adopted. For $20 you can enjoy the company of these friendly creatures, have some tea and nibble on garlic bread and cheese.
This place is wonderful! Kind staff members and adorable cats. The staff sanitize the kitty room in between every hour visit. I had a great time sitting in the room playing with all the cats they were cuddly and playful. Very therapeutic!
The cats are super cute and playful! Not all, but those that were are adorable. The space was smaller than I expected, but there are multiple areas for the cat to hide. It is a very relaxing environment and I love that they donate their proceeds to help other cats. The tea was okay, it would have tasted better if they were seeped longer. The toilet was pleasantly surprising since it was heated. I really enjoyed my time here and wish I could stay longer!
Awesome place! Left there stree fre but wished i could take one back home!
I sent in a request for a birthday event and they never gave me a response back in the 36 hours they promised. When I called in to ask about it, the lady seemed like she was in a rush to get me off the phone. She had told me that their event manager takes weekends off and would respond on that day or a day later. It has been 2 days since that and I have not gotten ant emails, not even a confirmation email. I am extremely disappointed because I really wanted to host my birthday here and hangout with my friends and the cats.
Ive been meaning to come here for so long. Its one of a kind in San Francisco. There was a section for just eating and then you can pay for $20 to spend an hour in the cat room. I only did an hour in the cat room, and did not eat the food. With the entry, there are four green teas in the room that you can drink unlimited. There were about 10-15 cats in the area. Most of them were sleepy and a lot more calm than I thought. They all seemed really happy and well-cared for. Only one cat was in a mood and hissed at everyone. They have permanent resident cats, but cats with collars are adoptable. It was a super relaxing time and I would love to go again.
We did the fondue night with kitties first. They were constantly out of tea. The fondue is shared and same portions for 3 full price tickets as 1 or 2. Plus takes awhile to come out. Thats the only reason this wasnt 5 stars. The playing with the kitties was awesome. Maybe recommend not so many in a group. Makes it hard for playing when you get a bunch of kitty hogs and the room is full.
If you are a cat lover, this is the place for you. They have 2 rooms. One where there are all the cats, the other where there are tables and u can have your tea and snacks and watch the cats in the next room through the glass. They serve Japanese tea which is good. I ended up not eating as I was busy with the cats! You can spend an hour with the cats. They are the cutest little things. You can pet them and play with them. Some are up for adoption too. Although most of them maybe sleeping when you get in.. but the smart little creatures will wake when its feeding time. You get to feed them as well. They are so disciplined when they eat! Overall it was an amazing experience. We will be looking to come here once again.
Cats! More cats! Can I just live here? Lol. I love coming here to see adorable kitties! They also have really cool cat related merchandise for sale and a cafe area where you can order tea or toast, but I didnt wander in there since I was fawning over the cats. It can get pretty busy during peak hour, but I like that they limit the amount of people per hour as to not overwhelm the cats.Oh a word about the bathroom. Lol. They have a toilet seat warmer and bidet. So you may not need toilet paper, but man it tickles. Everytime I use it Im in there trying not to laugh. Probably TMI, but youll see. 😅
This place is awesome. Definitely a form of therapy. The cafe is split into 2 parts: cafe part, and cat room. Visits are done by the hour. $20 an hour when I went a few weeks ago. So while youre waiting for your hour to start you can order food or drinks. Theyll also bring your food to the cat room if you order close to your hour. Id recommend getting there an hour before you plan on playing with the kitties. Its hard to eat your food when all the cats are trying to steal it lol. Particularly one kitty. I forget her name but shes a sandwich thief. Tried to steal my sandwich twice in the hour I was there. They also have some merchandise to buy like bags, sweaters, coasters, tea cups, and stickers. I will definitely be going back. Highlight of trip that day.
Cute cute kittens!! A purrfect place to chill with some lovely cats and nice staff. Super fun and relaxing, excited to visit again!
This place is so cute and chill. The cats are adorable and the tea is tasty! We went around 7 pm on a rainy Friday and spent an hour with the cats. We had loads of fun petting and playing with them. We also bought some cute socks and goodies in the shop in front. I would go back just to watch the kitties from the tea bar for sure. What a fun way to support cat adoption.
I got to hang out with a one eyed kitty and so many kittens. all the kitties were so sweet and there was one dark calico who was sleeping next to a ginger kitty she didnt like me too much so i offered her a toy as a symbol of peace. the little gray kitten is such a cuddler. such a great place ty for the memories. :)
This place was so cute! The food was excellent! Anything with the smoked salmon on their little menu would be great. We didnt pay to play with the cats but it. Would have obviously been worth it for a cat lover. It looked like they had some great activities too! Wish we lived closer to try them out!
They should advertise openly the fact that they have changed locations and are no longer a cafe. They dont serve tea or snacks / desserts anymore and instead have a fridge with canned drinks. I still love the mission but this was very misleading, as someone who has been here before. I thought I was booking for the old KitTea and was so confused when we arrived at the new address. I understand covid must have been hard on this rescue but I personally dont think the entry price is worth it anymore. Most of the adult cats are standoffish or even bite at you. Very few cats available for adoption too. New location is small and dingey, no area for cats to chill out away from guests, litter boxes all in the same room. Hopefully Kittea will bounce back.
Had such a good time here! Adorable cats and chill atmosphere!
I love coming up here (from Santa Clara, I may add!) time and again! The cats are all beautiful and fun to spend time with; Ive even seen a couple of adorable bonded pairs. The staff is very friendly, and theyll even offer to take photos of you with the cats and send the photos to your phone (and if youre using an Apple device, they can AirDrop the pics to you). The area where you can hang out with the cats is just big enough to allow people to move and be in their own groups, but small enough to be cozy and comfortable.Theres also a nice little cafe area for those who like looking at the cats but just want to enjoy treats and not come in contact with the cats. The complimentary tea is nice since it helps me soothe myself (as if cats arent soothing enough) and also give me the caffiene needed to make the drive home.Ill definitely be coming back for more trips in the future, maybe Ill even introduce a friend or two to this place.
Very cute kitties who are sleepy and chill. Find one you like and stroke its soft fur while sipping very tasty green tea. Dont expect a lot of playfulness; although, near the end of the hour, youre able to give out little bits of dry food, which the kitties all come to life for. Be sure to offer them your empty hand after you run out of treats, because some of them will lick the crumbs off for you (enjoy that scratchy, sandpaper feeling!) That part is fun. Most cats sleep all day, and these guys have a bunch of strangers trying to interact with them for several hours at a time, so its wise to keep that in mind and not be disappointed that they arent cuddling up to you or climbing into your lap. Its best to go in with the mindset of getting some relaxing feline therapy by petting some sweet, sleepy kitties.
Five stars because I love the concept and cleanliness.Personally, I was disappointed that they didnt close for kitty nap time, because when I got there, all of them wanted to sleep. I felt bad for them, because they all seemed bothered (although not skittish, at all). I was disappointed that I couldnt scoop them up and put them in my lap. I know how to hold kitties, and if they resisted, Id respect that, but their rules are their rules, so we watched them sleep and bothered them by petting them while they tried to sleep. I liked that they can go back, in the back, away from people, at will. Its a great little concept, the place smells great, no problem there. Good for people who dont really know cats.In regard to the café area, I was also disappointed that I couldnt get cream in a matcha latte, even a heavier coconut cream product would have been cool. So, I didnt purchase one. I question whether the people that work there have ever worked in restaurants, as nobody even greeted me in the café. I wasnt too bothered by it, though. I just tried the complimentary heirloom traditional green teas in the kitty room, which was nice and educational.Overall, its very creative and I know its developing. Maybe Ill come say hi again, when Im in town, to see how its evolved. I hope it does well. I also loved the beds on the wall. So awesome.
If you love cats! It’s a perfect place to enjoy food and be along cats!😻
The cats look great and are very playful, which is the most important part. It’s clean, friendly, and nice. However it’s kind of pricey, which I would be fine with if it was a nonprofit, but it’s not. Also the owners are apparently obsessed with feminism, which is all over their merchandise, and I think it would be nice if we didn’t involve cats into politics
Kay was my cat wrangler and she was very attentive and careful in introducing each of the cats to us and breaking down each of their personalities. She made the whole experience really enjoyable connecting with each of the cats and I would definitely come back, shes clearly knowledgeable on each of their needs to be cared for.
MondayAppt time: 12 noonAn experience like no other! This facility is clean, kind and well with the $20 to sip some delicious tea and mingle with felines! I selected the first appointment of the day and was quite entertained by all the energy in the room. Try to make an appointment for a weekday and first thing when they open to reduce the amount of people you have to ‘share’ the kitties with.I’m from the East Coast and unfortunately don’t have this type of cafe in my immediate area and I was super impressed at how well they maintained the cats’ health and space. If you are a true cat lover, you have to make some time for this place.Booking online is easy but make sure you reserve ahead of time and be prepared to prepay. Upon arrival, they will have you remove ur shoes and use hand sanitizer so be aware of that in case you want to bring ur own socks. The store itself had many items for purchase and the cafe was stocked with a variety of teas and baked goods. My husband opted to ‘sit this one out’ and he was comfortable watching us through the large window for the hour at no charge to him.Highly recommend for anyone who really enjoys the company of these beautiful and intelligent creatures.
I’ve been there and it’s quite relaxing. Especially with the cats
The cats were quite playful and fun. Only 4 people allowed so not crowded. Two different cats climbed in my lap for pets.
I am disabled, and have a hard time communicating, They were very nice on the phone, I am working on a program that donates art so cats get adopted. they Treated me like a person.
Amazing!!! One of the best experiences possible! All types of cat personalities and the food was soooo good!!! The gift shop has so many adorable things too!
So relaxing to chill with 18 or more kitties. Great matcha latte, friendly cat wranglers
This is the most pleasant and relaxing place I have been to in a long time. While most of the spots were taken by reservation (which is a smart idea! Dont do what I did!) My loved one and i were able to sneak onto the last spot of the day. As we waited we enjoyed some delicious complimentary tea and some decently priced chips and chocolate we watched as the ladies who worked at the cafe interacted with customers with kindness and a professional politeness that left you calm and in a good mood even if you were one of those who arrived too late to hang out today. All of the kitties are rescues and after spending a few moments watching through the windows you can see just how happy and well loved they are. They all live to snuggle and play, and when they are done with humans they have their own little sanctuary in the back where they can refresh. The kitties will leap into the arms of employees for cuddling and the room that has them is filled with toys and things to climb that will keep them all happy. My favorite thing is though is that they have a booklet with specific info on each of the cats, and their interests and personality. As you wait and watch the kitties run and play with the group before you, you can learn fun facts and play the worlds cutest wheres Waldo as you watch the cats from the booklet. This is a wonderful place and I hope I can make it again any time Im in the city.
Literally the easiest way to relax if youre having a stressful day just respect the cats and theyll be nice back
Very cute cats and amazing drinks. It’s a very relaxing place!
Its a great place for cats lovers! Potato leek bisque was good!
I made a reservation ahead of time for mid-day on a week day. The place is smaller than Id imagined. Gift shop is a bit pricey, and beware any purchase with the chip reader will request a tip, even if youre buying socks. The greeter was nice enough, explained there were 20 friendly social cats, some adoptable, with self-serve tea and a menu from the seperate cafe area. No explanation about where to find toys, intro to cats, how to adopt or a mission statement. Greeter later came into the cat area to visit the cats, not the customers. Tea was nice. Only saw 8 cats total during my hour-long visit, a time limit which is strictly enforced. Some cats tolerate petting, a couple might jump on you, but these were not attention-seeking kitties. Cat area attendant didnt say a word or make eye contact. More than 5 customers in the cat area starts to feel crowded, and theres no music or background noise. No inclination to visit again.
Amazing place for the cat lovers of SF. For not too much, you get to spend a therapeutic relaxing hour with cats. Food is decent, but the experience here makes every dollar well spent.
The staff are very nice and accommodating. Follow their rules and dont harass the cats, youll have a great time. Money well spent, IMO, especially for those who love cats, but cant have cats at home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit today. Cats and tea, what more can you ask for? A good mixture of kitty personalities too. I didnt order any food/drink extras, but the teas that are included are delicious. They are self serve so you can have as many cups as you like. They have many great items in the gift shop area, I left with many things I couldnt resist. If I had any suggestion, it would be to book fewer people during each hour block. It being such a small room, even 10 people spreading out and moving around is a little cramped.Overall, highly recommend for any cat lover or stressed person.
Rather small so it easily gets crowded. As a new group of people comes thought every hour, the cats are quite bored with the humans but that is a very cat thing to do anyway.
Awesome
All the feels! Loved every moment with the kitties. The staff is so wonderful and nice here as well.
I love me a cat cafe. Cute gift shop. Price a little steep at $20/hr, especially when the cats sleep half the time. It did satisfy my kitty cuddle craving though.
Adorable cats and overall a very fun experience!
Amazing place! Kitties and tea what more can you ask for? Great customer service and you can tell they love those kitties very much!
Nice cats, good tea and a great Ryan Gosling movie. Give it a try!
Wonderful, whether youre playing with cats out just stopping in for some tea. Pro tip: go early in the day, before the kitties get tuckered out.
I personally LOVE cats especially the tabby ones. DEFINATELY RECOMMEND it is the cutest thing in the world.
Love this place and all the kitties while drinking tea :)
So cool! So after you book they take you into a room full of cats thats separated from the cafe and in the cat room they offer you a selection of I think it was 4 or 5 pots of tea. The adoptable ones wear collars and the resident ones do not. You just kinda have to let them come to you so dont take too much initiative because they can sense your desperation. At the end of the hour session the staff gives everyone in the room a handful of dry food and you can feed them. Its really relaxing and great for first dates or relief after a long days work.🙋
KitTea Cafe is a cute quaint shop that takes good care of felines big and small. They often rescue cats from shelters and find foster and adoptable homes for them, so this is a great deed they are doing. I currently have one of their foster kittens, as they are in the middle of moving to their new location in Mission.
It was good. I actually love it especially they have cats
This is my favourite place to go to in San Francisco!!! They have hospitality like no other place I been to. The food and tea is wonder and the cats all have such unique personalities. This is a must visit in San Francisco
Great time with the cats and the tea was a treat.
A bit expensive but who the heck doesnt love hanging with cats for an hour.
Excellent tea and friendly kitties.
They have pu-erh tea, and tasty baked treats in the cafe while you wait to go into the kitty area. But holy cow they play such terrible music! All in all it was a fun experience and Id definitely go to another movie night with the kitties
I like the cafe have a meow day my friend loves cats yay I Never bin but it’s aesthetic yay I like dogs and fish not cats but ima go today for fun yay have a meow dayyyyyyyyyyyy
Had a great first visit to KitTea. The cats are very cute and our host was super friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all sorts of questions about the kitties. We had a great time and well probably be back in the future :)
Really cool place to play with cats while drinking tea and relaxing. Be sure to make reservations.
Great spot for quality time with felines
Fun way to spend an hour in the cat lounge. Provided teas were excellent and cats were a sociable bunch (your milage may vary).
We loved it here...the cats are so fun, well-mannered and you can tell they care for them very well. We only wish we could have stayed longer!
Wonderful place! I loved being able to spend time petting and playing with so many wonderful cats. This is a great experience that I highly recommend. They have some tasty baked goods as well!If youre looking to adopt a cat, some of the ones here are up for adoption, so if you find a match you might be able to take it home. And if youre not looking to adopt, spending time with cats is still wonderful, and the cost goes to supporting the cats and helping this place stay in business and shelter the cats who do need adoption. You get to play with cats, support their wellbeing, the cats get to be played with and petted, and the cats who need adoption have increased chances over being unseen at a shelter. Its a win-win-win-win!
$25 for an hour to play with cats. Also serve food and drinks. Recommend to book an appointment ahead.Friendly staff, clean facility.
It was so amazing I loved hanging out with a special cat named BettyLu she was so sweet but sassy at the same time. I highly recommend the mint ice tea it tastes a little strange at first but after a few sips it tasted good.
Kitty kitty nice nice☺️☺️
Cats rule dogs drool. Love this place and their cafe!!!!! 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈
This has to be one of the cutest trends to happen ever. Its an adorable cafe with a really cozy tea shop right next to the cat lounge. The bottomless tea came with the $25/person reservation and the cats were really cute, but its still on the pricey side of kitty experiences. The cats have definitely been more socialized and possibly have spent too much time being petted to be super excited to see you, but when you get past that, it was still a pretty therapeutic experience if you normally dont have pets. The service was great nevertheless and tea was not bad. I certainly cant afford to come here all the time, but Im glad I could experience it at least once!
Cutest cats in the city 😻
Very fun i wanted the cat named jellybean it was adorable
My kids enjoyed feeding the kittens.
Had a great time today with my friend. If you are a cat lover this place is a must. If you are not a cat lover you can still enjoy the cafe. I really felt that the cat cafe was a great experience. The staff was friendly and the cats are well taken care of and are very happy. The tea was good and I think it was worth the $20.00 per person entrance fee. For anyone complaining- these people are located in Hayes Valley. Having a shop open in San Francisco is very expensive. Also, I went to the bathroom (which was super clean) noticed they feed their cats really high quality food. I know, I have 2 cats myself. 5 stars to these people. Thanks for the iced tea ❤
