Come here if you like loud Asian ladies to talk about you and follow you around the store to see if you’re stealing. But they don’t just talk about you they talk about everyone especially once the customer leaves the store. Everyone gets the entertainment of the ladies all making fun of them! Racial profiling 5 stars here. Talking down to 5 stars. Being treated like a child 5 stars. paying ridiculous prices for forever 21 & old navy 5 stars. Also you can find things like xhiliration and rue21 are on the “designer rack”
Each time I go to the store on PolkSt ., the experience has been great. I’m in and out in a matter of minutes !I love that the money made from sales goes to a great cause …
The last 3 times I was in there looking at furniture, there were 3 separate women with huge bundles of clothes all over the furniture using that mirror, making it impossible to shop in that section. There needs to be a rule in place that does not allow entitled women to use the front of the store as their personal fitting room. This woman the other day literally leered and scoffed at me for trying to find the price tag of a chair under her 50 articles of clothing draped over the chair. This is unacceptable. Nice staff at this store though and I enjoy the reward program.
Love going there. I go there to go through the bric/brac,scarves, leather goods & inside the cases. U never know what u r going to find. Its all fun. Happy Shopping 😉🙃
Came in twice, the second time I was rudely apprehended by an employee (older Asian woman) to check my bag - I am Latino and there were plenty of white people in the store who were carrying around tote bags. She proceeded to follow me around the store before telling me that my hairstyle (shaved head) was unladylike and I should grow it out if I want to attract a boyfriend. For the record, Im a trans dude - and even if I was a woman, having someone like that working at a store named Out of the Closet is not a great look.Definitely will never be coming back here again after this upsetting experience and will be telling my queer and POC friends to avoid this place like the plague unless they want to be discriminated against and insulted by the employees.
Been coming here for years. I always find something that makes the hunt worth it! The staff, at this location, are always friendly and cheerful. I would recommend this place anytime and any day. Leave me something! I wear a small! ~g
Its very seldom that I go into this place and theres nothing that has got to come home with me. Dont come completely broke or youre bound to be kicking yourself that you didnt. If youre a guy who likes clothes make sure to check the womens section too. Youll find some misplaced gems occasionally. The staff is helpful and friendly for the most part too.
Hit or miss. Their dressing rooms are closed so you have to either guess if your purchase fits or drop trou right there at the clothing racks.I bought a few pairs of pants. For some unexplainable reason they would not accept a visa gift card so I paid cash. All of my newly purchased pairs of pants had been mismarked and didnt fit. Tried to return them but they will not accept returns (clearly marked at the registers). I knew this before I made the purchase, but figured the tag said they were my size, what could go wrong. Here is the good stuff and bad stuff about this place.✔️Everything is reasonably-priced.✔️They have a lot of good stuff (items). Its like shopping at a nice GoodWill store without as many toaster ovens or broken tennis racquets.✔️The employees can be pleasant and helpful because Ive seen it... Just not to me.✔️They have some good clothes, books and cool furniture from time to time.❌Clothing items are frequently mismarked and there are no refunds.❌They dont take visa or amex gift cards or $10 birthday checks from your grandmother.❌No usable dressing rooms so you have to do some guess work at the beginning and possibly move a few buttons later.❌The store and check out can get crowded so be prepared for that.🦍I should have checked the clothing labels not just the tags. My review is subjective and I have gotten lots of good stuff there in the past.🌤️Worth a visit.
Wonderful Id recommend this place to any one, chapter almost every day my name is Stephanie and if you take your time theres always something to be found a hidden treasure so to speak anyways..
I love it! Best thrift store shopping experience i have had in recent years. Preferred shopper here; $10 off after every 200 points. $1=1 pointTry it.
Really the only convenient place to drop off gently used clothes and household items. Gave three huge bags! And its for a good cause.
This used to be one of my favorite places to shop. Unfortunately, it has gotten so expensive, sometimes even more than purchasing these items new. So much for a thrift store. Im not sure if Ill be returning anymore 🥴
Great quality fashions in good condition including name brands and designers. I have bought things there from Talbots, Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Evan Picone, Perry Ellis, Ralph Lauren and more. Sports tops, pants, and jackets from Nike, Champion and others. Shoes & boots, purses, & bric-a-brac (small appliances, desk accessories, picture frames, dishes).Well organized by size, garment type AND color. Color coded tags tell the discounts which increase with time the item has been in the store and discounts on a given item increase weekly.
Wish I read reviews before donating. I had a similar experience as s co and a couple of other reviewers. One Asian lady who was helping me drop off some donations (I believe Tracy) was very rude and basically said only bring us clothes that we can resell and shook her head disgustedly at some of the t-shirts and other items I brought over to donate.Even though the organization seems to donate all of the profits to a charitable cause, this was an awful customer service experience and I would recommend donating your clothing to a different org that will treat you properly and explain to you in a kind way if theres certain items they dont accept.
I like the Polk st. location . Easy and welcoming . I found alot of items worth buying . Many higher end brands available at affordable costs..The best part is that they have a small number of customer parking spots that made my visit convinient. ☝️😁
Not many people in the store. A fun place to shop if you are into used clothing and treasures.
I can always count on scoring great deals & amazing finds here
Dropped freshly washed clothing and housewares for donation. The parking lot is convenient. The staffer was cheerful and polite. I did not shop on this visit.
Absolutely amazing. i wish i lived in the area so i could come here all the time
I love the ootc. chain in general and i think the polk st.location is pretty good.good assortment of items, tons of clothes. But the 9th & folsom st. Store is great ...and ladies the entire top floor is womens clothes..and a couple of shelves of books.great assortment of items.& staff is generaly very plesant.(staff is usually great at both locations)
I understand that associates and stores are not obligated to accept all donations but saying Im only going to take what I can sell then shaking your head while still grabbing an armful of my items, then telling me good luck with the rest, they are no good is incredibly rude. Donations are free and next time I will just bring them to a different organization or the dump before considering Out of the Closet.
Good prices, big selection, good customer service, what more could you ask for...
Great, this place is awesome!! I strongly recommend...
Bought and donated things here for years but today had a less than great experience. The newer Asian woman who received my donations tells me very demandingly that she needs to check all of my 4 huge bags before I go because we only want good stuff that make money Excuse me? Im handing you a ton of clothes for free, to help people. If you dont like it give then away or something. She also literally whined about the bags being tied tightly more than once. Sorry I just carried them to you from blocks away and they are heavy. Please learn to respect people who are trying to help out, Im not a low life or some customer for you to push around when Im here to give you things for free. Very disappointed that this is how people are now treated here. Can only expect its worse if you are a customer.
Not the most welcoming place to shop. Visited the store recently and walk in and out without even a Hi. Cant speak to the items since I didnt think the atmosphere welcomed any more of my time or money.
Great prices great location parking a little bit difficult and manager is not very nice at all otherwise great merchandise and awesome findes!!!
This place is run by family and has fantastic items from designer shoes jeans shirts jackets sun glasses bags Jewlery ect super deals a must go
You will definitely find good stuff, def.a bargain, the place is nice & clean, employees are helpful, etc. They dont look like they just work for the money.Winnie is the best employee here ever. Shes loyal to the company, being here for years, shes friendly, sincere, she makes you feel comfortable and recognized.Shes definitely an asset to Out of the Closet.I highly recommend this place.P. I hardly give a 5 star rating.. But you guys deserve it!!!
One of the best thrift stores in town
Large selection and friendly staff. I highly recommend this location they offer deals and great brand plus are doing something good for the community.
The place is small and doesnt have a lot of stuff, but is clean and the prices are reasonable
Nice place for discounts.
I consistently find good stuff here. Its big with lots of quality clothing. Ive gotten lucky in the kids section as well. Great finds include made well dresses, ever lane tips, Nike running clothes, baby gap.
Always a great selection with great prices.Even the security guard would pace around and remind patrons of the sales. The sales are always a steal.Staff is busy and focused, but friendly when asked anything. This is a go to spot for me!
I used to be a manager of this store. Great staff. Prices on some stuff too high. The Polk St store manager, head of sales and cashiers work hard and are fantastic. The Retail general manager, assistant manager and HR managers in LA should be audited. their work practices are not right for a non profit.
I find the BEST stuff at this thrift store. Tons of nice clothes for super cheap. Brands like Lululemon, bcbg, guess etc can be found here. I like how they arent about marking things super high, they just want to make sell their stuff to make space for nice new things! I love coming here when Im in SF. They have friendly workers too and I love how they donate to charity.
I posted, notified every major local TV Station in San Francisco, tagged your corporate offices, notified my colleague, Mayor London Breed of SF & the City & County Community Benefits team, Better Business Bureau and SF Police Department to report the ill behavior of the man on this photo.I am an African American professional and educated woman employed by the very city and county; San Francisco where your store is located. Today, our employee, Jim the Head of Sales adamantly refused to help me because I was Black. He also kicked a Black disabled man because his service dog was sitting well-mannered in the store.Jim, “The Head of Sales” is a misrepresentation of the mission and purpose of this project which supports a community that is frowned upon. A community in which I support. The videos speak for itself. I am anxiously awaiting someone for you organization to give me a call.Thank you,
Great selection Low prices
Nice and clean lots of used items from just about every part of your home.
Great thrift, thread re-use, and good cause all-in-one. I just bought 3 t-shirts, 2 skirts, and 1 sweater all for less than $20. Clothes are nicely organized at this store.
Friendly staff. We have found some great finds here. Worth going to if in the area, plus your money is going to a worthy cause.
Great customer service.
Good prices .great selection. Friendly workers. One of the best secondhand places in the city
Well, you know, its dusty and dirty. Youll sneeze when you move too many clothes around. But they have quite the selection of coats! And they also have a vintage rack or two. Its always easy to find a nice item here when I drop in on the fly. And if not, theres always the more upscale thrift store right next door!
Um, wow. Way cheaper than I expected. Came away with 5 articles of clothing and a pair of shoes for 16 bucks! Super friendly staff. ❤💛💚💙💜
Assortment of used goods. Staff is friendly
Out of the closet has a great gems. Love supporting this organization and thrifting at the same time.
Not pleasant
Prices are good store clean and their staff is friendly parking a few blocks away.
Its what you expect out of a thrift store. Home goods, clothes, furniture. Good looking window displays!
Wonderful LGBTQ Community support. Love this place.
Has a pretty good selection of recognizable brands and designers. Staff has always been nice.
Good things at good prices. Its well organized and clean.
Friendly staff.
The worker offered me $ 8 bucks for a$ 499. Lamb skin Michael Kors jacket never worn. She told me it was fake leather. I laughed and said thank you, I neglected to show her the tags to it that were in my pocket..... NOT TRUST WORTHY....
Pretty good thrift shop. I was surprised at the price and quality of the goods.
Lolzz best place to buy some extra stuff on which you dont wanna spend money
A bit pricier and snottier than the east bay stores. Cant remember if I found a thing but thats the nature of thrifting. Still worth a look if you are in the area.
. Ive grown to love thks place. Good prices but they are inconsistent. Which is sometimes good r sometimes bad. Their designer rack has everything from bcbg to forever 21 just cause it has tags lol. Pro tip: their staff isnt the most fashion knowledgeable so you can sometimes score designer items at crazy low prices. Also mens clothes often mixed into womens racks. Crazy cheap books, some furniture and home decor, no kids clothes except randomly youll find boys clothes ine mens section but more young mens boys clothes mostly athletic..not children or infant. Some electronics. Bags, jewelery, mens and womens accessories, and awesome window displays.
Prices are a little high for thrift shopping in my thrift shopping experiences.. very organized, friendly, and helpful, good used shoe display...
We always have luck at this Out of the Closet Thrift Store. Nice things at great prices!
Decent selection, good prices. Found some interesting vintage gems.
