My husband took me here as a surprise birthday snack and I loved it! The cheeses were amazing. We got cheese platter #2 and they were all cow’s milk. One of my favorites was a Gouda that had a funky, salty taste. I wish I remembered the name.The woman that served us our platter gave us a description of all 3 cheeses and she was so passionate. The wine wasn’t anything to rave about so it was overpriced. The beer was a better choice. Also, I LOVE olives, but was not a fan of the olives served. Anyway, I’d still recommend anyone to come here. The women running it were very sweet.

It’s a very cool place and I live in France so love anything promoting REAL cheese but the prices for a glass of wine at $15 (I will say it was very good, an ‘orange’ wine I’ve never had) something as simple as a tin of mackerel (granted sustainably farmed) and a piece of toast at $14 are a bit high. If the prices were altered slightly I think it would represent a better value.

This is must visit place in mission district. Get some cheese and wine, these are excellent. California golden sandwich is also fantastic.

We popped in on a whim, after passing it on the way to Dandelion. So glad we did! Ended up having a nice afternoon on their patio just enjoying some local wine and curated cheese. We went during an off hour in the mid afternoon on a Friday so it wasn’t busy at all, but by the time we left it was starting to get packed. Great little spot to chat with a small group of friends, or go on a date!

A friend and I went to Mission Cheese in search of Charcuterie and we were not disappointed. We went with the owners recommendation for a selection of Salami, Cheese and Dried Fruit. The quality and flavor of the meat was excellent and the cheese was outstanding. I cant remember the types of cheese we ate but the flavors were rich and diverse. The order comes with some fresh bread and small house made pickles which were delicious. The owner also recommended a white wine from Berkeley called Donkey and Goat. I dont know much about wine but it was great and really complimented the flavor of the food. I cant wait to go back when Im in the city.

Great selection of cheese and one of the yummiest grilled cheese sandwiches Ive ever had. The macncheese is also incredible. Service was just okay both times Ive been, the employees could have been a bit nicer and more welcoming.

Instead, Im suppose to let you guess what I like...Food was good tho, the golden state sandwich was very good and the raclette was excellent !

I went here two days ago and ordered the three cheese, two meat platter, as was recommended for first timers. It was so good! I wish I could remember the exact details of the cheeses but each one was distinct and flavorful. It was a perfect pairing with the meats and I’m already planning a trip back to try the raclette or one of the sandwiches.

If you like salami and grilled cheese get the pork and cheese sandwich. It is sooooo good!

A perfect respite from the hideous SF heatwave.We were blessed to be in SF during the record breaking heatwave, and even more blessed to have consumed wine and cheese from said Mission Cheese during that time. I loved that everything on the menu was local and it was all consumed with delight. A minimal space, but adequate in all the right ways. Yum!

I come here when Im craving real cheese and it doesnt disappoint. It has such a great selection and the staff is knowledgeable and gives a lot of info. The grilled sandwiches are great and I see many customers come here for wines. The place is small but very sociable.

Its a great experience, not pretentious, very inviting and relaxing for a Saturday afternoon. Weill be back many times to come. Try the Bay Blue and chorizo salami together. Ratatouille.

This place is amazing. So many different kinds of cheese and wine for you to try. I came here for lunch and got the burrata. It comes with a sizable piece of acme bread sliced perfectly thinly for you to eat with the cheese. I cant wait to come back here to try more of their menu.

Cheese was great but a few gripes, hence the 4 stars. We sat at the bar. Service was a bit odd. The cheese mongers are supposed to take what you like and let you try new cheeses based on that. I only told them that my favorite cheese was Sofia and let them go from there. They served Sofia and 4 other cheeses. Sofia was the only ashy cheese on the board. 3 of the other cheeses were really good but the 4th was not good at all. We didnt even finish the small serving size. They never asked why we didnt even though we cleaned the rest of the board. A bit weird.Their cheesecake was amazing. Light and lemony.Another odd note, one server continually picked up wedges of cheese to smell them, then coughed into her arm. The smelled again. It was odd. She wasnt getting ready to serve the cheese. Just smelling it randomly.Will probably go back to try their other selections... Hopefully the service improves. ;)

If you have money to spend and consider yourself a bit of a wino, you’ll probably like Mission Cheese more than I do.Their mac and cheese is incredible, probably the best in the city now that cowgirl creamery doesn’t offer theirs anymore. Their hours are a bit weird, so check ahead and make sure they’re open.

Such a city gem sparkling in the luster of The Mission district. I came upon this place based off of friends recommendations and it just shows you how word spreads fast. I walk in and the place was packed. The hefty crowd still didnt cause the staff behind the counter from greeting me and welcoming me inside. They all seem to have great knowledge of their cheese selection and what wines/beer pair well.I personally recommend Mission Cheese for a nice afternoon treat while sipping and chatting about world events, OR... pick up a block of cheese for a party and youll be the talk of the night!

The mongers at Mission Cheese are great. My wife and I always get the Mongers Choice Cheese plate and are never disappointed by their choices. A small but carefully curated selection of wine and beer are the perfect accompaniment to whatever you get to eat.

Now that theyre closing at the end of 2020 were going to have nothing but cheap Mexican restaurants everywhere !😠

This is my wifes favorite place to have lunch and a glass of wine. The service is amazing and the people are very friendly. Great selection of wines. I can also say Ive never eaten hear and not liked the food. Everything seems very fresh and clean. Our favorite place to sit is outside on a nice sunny day. One of the missions best places.

Delicious sandwich, reasonable wine. Not cheap, but this is Valencia street, so what did you expect? My coworkers like going here for lunch, which is too pricey for me, but it makes a lovely dinner spot, and its open late enough to enjoy a drink!Edit: came here with a larger group, and service was really slow. Apparently their sandwich griddle only fits four at once, so for our group of seven they had to do two separate batches. We were excited about the good food and outdoor seating, but I wont be coming here again for lunch during the workday.

The wine selection is amazing for a place with this quick a service. The cheese selection for the platters is good, but the Raclette, M&C and sandwiches dont do justice to the ingredients. The prosciutto is simply bad. The rating is because if you stick to what the place is good at its really worth it.

Delicious cheese and overall spread but the portion sizes are laughable. Its like they used a pipet for the condiments (or whatever fancy word is used). Youre better off buying the same cheese and enjoying at home.

Mission Cheese made for a lovely brunch. Most of the cheese pairings came with a soft cheese selection so we opted for the Mongers Choice where you can specify what you are looking for in the cheese selection. The plates are priced fairly for what you receive. The server provided us a hard cheese pairing with a little background about each of the three cheeses. Overall, the service is very friendly and the atmosphere is lively and cozy.

This little cheese shop is a lot of fun. A tasting of cheeses with a glass of wine while people watching in the Mission equals a fun afternoon. The counter service is a bit slow, but theyre willing to take time to explain the cheeses, if youre interested.

The place is nice, the staff are friendly. But unfortunately the food is underwhelming, and way overpriced compared to what quality food is served. Which is what left me unimpressed and kinda meh about using money here.

Nice little place on Valencia Street. Its walk-in only, so if you are early you are likely to get a spot. On a warm day try and get a table outside. All their dishes are cheese based. We had the cheese platter. The cheeses are good, but not outstanding. Its a nice place in the neighborhood though.

This place could become one of my favorites in the city. I stopped here looking for a glass of wine after lunch.I ordered a personalized cheeseboard with only hard cheeses and a glass of wine. Our server explained to us in which order should we enjoy our cheese to have a better experience, and told us a little bit about the flavors we were about to try. During my second visit I could enjoy a piece of chocolate and peanut butter cookies. Those are to die for!

Ahh Valencia street...you and your bike shops ... Ooh! A cheese and wine place! With outdoor seating?! Done. This place is one of those that knows its cool, but doesnt rub it in. The ambiance is very relaxed, California wine tasting style. Everything you order is served on the coolest wooden cutting boards or slate...slates? They have these things called cheese flights which is a great way to experience a few cheeses with your wine. I really wish they had wine flights to match with the cheese flights as the cheese flights dont really pair with any specific wine or grape type. The one unfortunate thing, is that I didnt get much input on which wine I should get and I just had to guess. They have a fairly obscure (to be expected, given the area) wine list and I would have appreciated some guidance. Overall, cool place and Ill be back. Just prep yourself for some trial and error.

Not to start a rumor, but I was hesitant to try this place after my friend claimed to have seen the owner pick a wedgie while making sandwiches. But, hygiene aside, Im glad I did. The cheese really is that good, and the other small bites and goodies are well executed also. The space is cute, typical small Valencia corridor hipster hangout, but you wont spend much time here (since its not a coffee shop or bar), so its nice to nip in for a quick bite.

Enjoyed a nude sandwich made with salad and buffalo cheese. Thoroughly enjoyed the taste of the bread, and the cheese as it was literally oozing out of the sandwich. Also enjoyed the customer service since they really knew what they were taking about.

Ok, so call me a snobby European, but I do not associate the US with good cheese at all. My time here, however, has started to change that view. We had one of the flights, and the cheese and wine were delicious, greatly helped by some very knowledgeable staff. From what we saw and tasted, California in particular has an exciting and burgeoning cheese industry.

I love to get the cheesemongers plate, where they pick out cheeses for your tastes. They certainly know their cheese! I discover new delicious cheese there every time I go.

My life tagline could be Mission: Cheese so this place spoke to me. Had rose and a charcuterie board of an assortment of meats and cheeses. Everything was great and while I appreciated the knowledge and details from the staff I think they need to cap their explanations to 60 seconds max unless people request more info. It was like 5 minutes of watching the cheese before she left and I could eat it with blatant disregard to the geography and type she had painstakingly outlined.

Went 3 times in one week because I loved it so much. Made me feel a bit like I was in a European cafe. So happy to have a new favorite place in the city.

The guy behind the counter was super helpful finding a cheese that suited my tastes and needs. They have a great selection, and I even got to sample a bit before making my final purchase.

We lucked out in getting seats here today for a party of three outside on a sunny Sunday evening. Its a really, really cozy spot and very laid back. You order food at the cashier. They have cheese plates, sandwiches and mac n cheese. I ordered the mac n cheese and it had a crunchy, tasty breadcrumb on top and came in a skillet. I got a salad and it had slices of strawberries and had a nice refreshing fruity dressing. Ill need to come back and order my own cheese plate next time, but I did get to try a tiny piece from my friends plate.

Mission Cheese is settled in a great neighborhood if youre feeling for a good assortment of restaurants around. The mac n cheese is a bit overpriced, but its worth it. The business is environmentally-friendly.

I came here on a weekend afternoon with my mom who is a lover of cheese-plates everywhere. We walked up to the counter quite unsure of what we wanted and probably asked a zillion questions. The women behind the counter were extremely helpful and took the time to explain the differences between cheeses and provided great recommendations. We ordered a cheese plate as well as a grilled cheese (hey, we really like cheese) and two different glasses of wine. While more expensive than your average restaurant, Mission Cheese is in a really hip area of the Mission that is exploding with cool restaurants. This place is a great find in San Francisco and you wont easily find anything else like it! Another plus, they also have great cheese puns on their chalkboard outside.

Cute wine bar and cheese shop with limited seating. The wine I had was tasty and paired nicely with an assorted cheese flight prepared by the staff. Their mac and cheese was delicious, and contained a gererous serving of bread crumbs on top.
