Honestly, I wanted to like this place. We were starting our kitchen cabinetry journey and learned a lot from our conversation with Ron. Imagine all the accessories you ever saw on Pinterest and its here in the showroom. We spent an hour talking about cabinets and thought we were in good hands. I sincerely enjoyed our conversation! However... following our appointment, we emailed our kitchen layout and appliances to Ron. No response. Followed up 3 days later and CCd their general email address. No response. I was giving them the benefit of doubt that maybe something wasnt working. Followed up again once more 7 days after the original email. No. Response. Not a yes, not a no. Just silence. I get it that theres probably a lot of remodeling happening right now but Id appreciate and expect a response from an established business, even if its a we have too long of a backlog right now and cant take on more projects. My partners mom got her cabinets from here 25 years ago and I expect better. Thats unfortunate. Well spend our money elsewhere.
I used Gilmans for a remodel of an out of date master bathroom in our condo in San Francisco, replacing everything in it, but especially changing out a tub for a walk-in shower. Key to our decision to us them was that our primary residence is 200 miles away so we would be monitoring the project remotely. I was attracted to their range of services, including a project portal, project supervisor, design consultant, and project photos, as well as the quality of their work (viewing past reviews and project pictures). While their quote was higher than most, I was not at all disappointed in the outcome, especially the tile work which was tricky to install since the tiles chosen for the shower wall were small triangles of different 3-D surfaces. I would highly recommend them and thoroughly enjoyed working with Trisha and Rick P.
Maybe it is complacency or the high demand for contractors in SF. But they dont accept credit cards online or over the phone. They have difficulty making commitments and estimating timelines. And the prices are likely much higher than others, but they dont offer service to off-set those costs. I wont be using them again.Though our cabinets do look nice though here is a photo from when we had another installer put them in and he found that the pulls that had been ordered did not fit. They were supposed to be installed by Gilman and they failed to show up. This is just basic stuff. Come when you say youll come, order the correct materials, and make it simple to pay for them. In all categories Gilmans failed.I thought I was paying more for good service and a simple job. I paid more for a major headache.
Very nice stuff but way overpriced I thought.. Bought the same stuff I liked for 40% off at a different place. This particular store is geared towards the clientele with money. Nothing wrong with that but all i wanted was tile a step above home depot. If I had the cash, I would use them. The sales associates had a very good grip on what the latest trends are as well as going traditional.
It is without hesitation that I endorse Gilmans Kitchens & Baths San Francisco. As a business professional, specific to the Kitchen & Bath industry, I’ve had the opportunity to work directly with Larry as well as his team of creative professionals. Throughout my interactions, I’ve found them to be knowledgeable, professional & courteous. As a business owner, it has been a pleasure to work alongside a group of individuals who value a strong commitment to both their client’s needs as well as those they partner with.Eric Blair | PrincipalOptima Sales Group
They have a good range of products and the layout, and signage makes it easy to understand the pricing structure of each item. I found it a pleasant experience to deal with the same person in a professional and friendly manner. Thanks Gilmans for your assistance.
My husband and I had a contractor ready to start on our bathroom and we had no idea what we were doing. We walked into Gilmans on Bayshore and met Jane Regan and when we left we had a beautiful vanity tile top and vanity cabinet picked out as well as a sink, toilet and fixtures. Jane came to our house several times and also met me at the tile store. Her help was invaluable and she is a fun and pleasant person to work with. I could not recommend Jane and Gilmans more highly.
I’ve worked with Gilmans Kitchens and Baths in a professional capacity for nearly 10 years now. Their level of service, and quality of designer, is a 5 out of 5. In my opinion this is the greatest asset of any kitchen and bath company. The products they sell are of the highest quality and they take the time to pair your needs with the product that will offer the best value for your budget. Their attention to detail is crucial to keeping your project on time and on budget. Howard Gallas is a designer that is relatively new to Gilmans and fits right in with all the designers there. In the relatively short time he has been there (just under a year) I have seen his experienced design eye and creative approach to problem solving, help several clients get the kitchen/bath of their dreams. He is just an example of the type of service and design expertise you can expect to get from all the designers that work there.
We love our new bathroom vanity. It was expensive, but we think it was worth it.I think Gilmans has a lot they can do to improve. Communication was definitely weak. My questions by email resulted in one liner responses that had to be addressed multiple times again later. The wrong counter top was nearly ordered, but fortunately I personally forced them to let me double check their work order and we avoided a mistake.I also felt they used questionable sales tactics. They told us our freight charge was included for free. When we cross-bid their quote with another local company, it was the same price including the freight charge, which meant they lied to us.The tile they offer is all over priced by $2 to $5 / sq ft. and the exact same product can be found elsewhere at a better price (Latch tile for Daltile products). We probably saved $500 not purchasing tile here. In the future, we will probably try to direct order the cabinetry from the manufacturer, have the counter installed directly with the local company, and save another $300-$600 in commissions.
I had an excellent experience with them, James came and installed my screen for my windows and back sliding door. he was very friendly and professional. he did a great job
We worked with John, he was super helpful in getting us the cabinets we needed for our kitchen remodel on schedule. He went out of his way to come by to inspect a damaged panel and have the manufacturer replace it promptly.
We are thrilled with our new kitchen and with designer Mariel Cassers invaluable input. She gave us good advice from the outset. Knowing that we were planning a vacation in Spain she suggested we look at tiles while in Sevilla. We returned from vacation with accent tiles that inspired all our choices - from cabinet finish, to counters, to flooring, backspash, paint and fixtures. And with our small kitchen, by eliminating one doorway, widening another and creating a pass-through to the dining room, we gained light, counter space and even foot space. Everything is new and uniquely our own and follow up from the Gilmans team has been great.
Expensive but theyre in a niche market so grateful for their continued presence. Nice staff, especially the gentleman at the front desk.
Extremely friendly and informative staff
