Amazing bike shop. Friendly and welcoming staff. Brought my bike in for a tune up as Id been having some issues with a clicking noise while I was peddling. Michael was able to diagnose that my pedals needed to be replaced. Fast, quality, and very reasonably priced service. Nice conversations as well. I will definitely be back.

Today, was my first visit to The Bike Hut but it definitely won’t be my last. Located at Pier 40 (South Beach Harbor) on the Embarcadero is a literal hut, painted yellow with a large sign that says The Bike Hut. Great thing about this location is that parking is available if your traveling from a distance and need to transport your bicycle via car. It’s a fairly large parking lot with over thirty (30) available spaces. The Bike Hut is open Wednesday - Sunday from 10 am - 5 pm normally, but the adjusted hours due to COVID-19 is now Wednesday - Sunday from 12 pm (noon) - 5 pm. It’s best to call first! The repair technician can provide a heads up on how busy they are. When I took my Pure Fix bike to be fixed because of a busted inter-tube, the repair technician told me specially when to come. In addition to repairing bicycles, The Bike Hut has a 501(c)3 Non Profit youth training and recycling program. This is a great opportunity to give back or donate gently used / wear bicycles. It’s only fitting that The Bike Hut offers “bicycle rentals, sales, and repairs.” Lastly, the best thing about The Bike Hut is that they accept “commuter checks,” for payment. I had a great experience and would highly recommend.

I SUPER RECOMMEND HERE FOR CYCLISTS. Well I think I was lucky to hire a band new bicycle at here with good price. Owner is friendly to guests and he also gave me a free bottle of water. Somebody may wonder why this nonprofit organisation takes some money, and just Google around hiring bicycle in SF and $7 per hour is a very good price. Its DONATION, so sontt be grumpy for your bucks, just grab a bike here and enjoy your ride in SF.

Michael the owner is the absolute best. I found him from my friend who worked with him to learn how to fix bikes. Not only is he fair, patient and trustworthy, but he reminds me of the east coast - do no harm, take no bull. I’m reluctant to move further away because then I’d have to change my bike guy

Great, fast service. We picked up a bike for my wife (my kids and I had bikes already). They were nice and fast. Priced by the hour or full day, we paid about $7 per hour for a quick ride to Chase Stadium and then back to the ferry building for hot chocolate. The bike worked well and it was super easy. Thanks!

Wether to rent a bike or to maintain yours, highly recommending it. Best bicycles in town, no frills and no sales pitch BS, at the most affordable rate as well. Lots of bikes and sizes for everyone to choose from: cruisers to stay on the embarcadero, urban flexible bikes, mountain bikes, you can also ask for the great carbon frame road bikes in the back (same price). Service also include: Helmet, locks, basket if you need it, and a water bottle if you don’t have yours.

Hey! This place is most certainly open ! This guy is awesome ! I went to a bike rental place before this and they were charging $95 dollars a day. He only charged 35$ . This guys awesome and so was the bike I rented.!When you take this bike back your going to want to give him a hug he’s such a nice guy . Before you drop it off you can cruise around the pier one of the nicest areas in town. He knocked my price down when I brought him back some pizza -he is the best .

A great place to hire bikes from at very reasonable prices!I hired a road bike by myself for one day to enjoy cycling around San Frans many hills and sights. The bike was nice and well serviced. I was offered sunscreen, water, a map and a puncture repair kit. The guys also had no issue when I brought the bike back with a flat tire having ridden over the tram tracks 500m from the end of my cycle.Overall a great service at a substantially better value than similar offerings in the area. The Bike Hut is non-profit and has a voluntary mission as well just to make the place even more worthwhile to visit. Would highly recommend

Every time I come to San Francisco I make sure to stay somewhere close enough to the Bike Hut so that I can easily hire a bike for the length of my stay. They are super nice, super affordable, have super bikes, and are also super relaxed -- a real pleasure to deal with. That they are a socially minded non-profit is a nice bonus on top of their excellent service and product.

No frills bike shop and rental. I called ahead and got there about 30 minutes later to change a flat. Michael was super helpful and got er done in about 15 minutes. It seemed like he has a lot of regulars stopping by, which gives me faith that his service is always great!

I just needed a used bike. After literally a ONE-HOUR wait (for some reason anyone behind me was being served first) I was shown this bike with the gears all broken and wiggly, and apparently Id have to pay for new shifters like its my fault if theyre broken. The guy even asked for tipping as I was leaving. For like, what? I just wasted my morning. I dont get it.He was kind and all, but this is no way to treat a customer.EDIT after owner reply:I was never warned of SUCH a wait on the phone and he did ask for tipping. The fact theyre even denying it is shameful.By the way, I did eventually get a BRAND NEW bike from Walmart for $80. Still as good as new almost two years later.

I was apartment hunting in San Francisco and thought a bike would make the most sense for travel between apartment viewings. Found these guys online and saw that they offered multi-day rentals.Greg set me up with a solid bike. Had a rack and he gave me a lock+cable (I passed on the helmet). Bike was well maintained, had enough gears to make SF bikeable, and didnt have the rental bike look (no handlebar bag with corporate logo that screams, Im a tourist!). I rented it from Thursday to Sunday for $65 which in my opinion is a hell of a deal. Might be the cheapest thing in San Francisco.Thumbs up to the guys at the Bike Hut. Ill stop by for repairs and service when I move in.
