Went to city beer Friday around 4p. Was worried it would be packed however quiet. My husband was searching for delicious beer and did a beer flight. He really enjoyed it. Added an order of fries which were piping hot, fresh, and yummy, I went for a Mexican bottle coke which really was fun since I wasn’t drinking. All the staff here are awesome and the beer to go is a vast variety of everything under the sun from many labels. Ok little bit of a sketchy neighborhood but I never felt unsafe, a must for a beer lover

A cool local beer bar/shop with food options. We came here as my friend wanted to try the Russian River Pliny The Elder. The place itself was pretty nice with a patio in the front and a beer shop in the back. The bar had several local beers on tap. I opted for the cherry cider as I dont drink much beer. The cider was nice and refreshing. The service was friendly.

This store/bar is amazing. If you are anywhere near mission street and have any affection or curiosity for amazing and interesting beer, then visit. Drink a beer off tap, but a bottle and drink it there or take them home, everything goes. Highly recommended.

This place went from a small bottle shop to a fancy taproom and its great. Tons of good stuff an tap and a well stocked bottle shop plus hispterish food menu. A great place to be. There is even a small terrace outside. I had some fresh Alvarado Street goodness and it was worth the trip just for that alone. There was a guy sh**ing on the the sidewalk across the street, but hey, its San Francisco, what can you do.

I just had a really amazing chai stout. Unfortunately it was not available in the store. Its worth a trip here just to try it. I like it even better than Firestone Walker Mole Merkin.

Great place to chill out with a fresh draft/beer bottle in your hands! No food tho but few snacks choices available munch on.We came here Saturday around 3pm and it was buzzing but we found a place to sit. Huge selections of beer bottles to take home or have there (corkage will apply). We tried the fermented IPA Powerage and dark beer with grapes.All in all great experience. Friendly service and clean place.

This is City Beer Stores New location. This is much bigger than their previous location on Folsom. They have more taps, a bigger bottle shop area, and now they have food. I had the City Burger, which was great. As always, they have a fantastic lineup of beers on tap. The location is also more convenient, being just a couple blocks from Civic Center BART and MUNI Station, and practically next to the 14 bus stop.

Extensive 🍺 selection on tap. Tried an Everybodys Juicin from Burgeon Brewing. There were many other 🍺 that I wanted to try. But will have to wait for next time.Since they moved to this new space, they opened up a kitchen with excellent food. Ordered the onion rings which had salt and vinegar seasoning, gnocchi, and brussel sprouts.

Really great selection, a frequent flow of Russian River bottles if youre into that, and one of the most unique sets of rotating taps in SF. Nice enough people, and a good location. City beer store is fun to go to albeit a bit pricey for the bottles. The hard to get ones are definitely worth making a trip here, but you can probably find the mainstream stuff for cheaper somewhere else.

What an awesome beer store!This place has a great selection of both local and out-of-state brews. I was surprised at first to see that it had a bar with beer on tap, because I thought it was only a bottle shop.The bar also allows you (and encourages you) to buy bottles and open them to enjoy them in there, which is a big plus!.Dimly lit, chill atmosphere to enjoy a couple of beers and have fun. Will definitely come back to see what I can find!

Had a peanut butter porter here a few years ago that haunts my dreams because I cant find anything that compares. Solid spot!

Awesome selections of draft beers to drink with store in back! Also, the city beer store burger is an excellent choice. I tried it with a side of tator tots and enjoyed the meal. The burger is small, however, its two patties with american cheese make it very fulfilling. Very, very tasty! Tip: Visit during lunch time for small to no crowd at all!

Ive been twice in the last 2 weeks. First visit was 4 star worthy, with friendly service, delicious beer and delicious fries.Second visit was awful. Apparently having a beer event in a free hours means the bartender cant be bothered to help you, finally heads your way and starts speaking to the people who just appeared next to you 30 seconds ago instead of you, and when asked for a menu because not all the handwritten signs are easy to read snaps were having an event tonight what you see hanging is what we have!. RUDE. So we had one drink and left. Thanks Patrick for ruining our spontaneous happy hour, and making me not want to return.Lots of seating, clean, but if theyre having an event dont bother going in before it starts.

A little pricy (ok a lot pricy) but good selection and amazing amount of bottles for sale. Also this is a good place for hipster watching... If you like that sore of thing.. you wont even need to bring your binoculars or identification book: theyre everywhere.

Im a big fan of the NEIPAs and this place delivered. It was fairly close to my hotel, that said it still is a great place to visit while in SF. BTW regarding food, the falafel burger was recommended by the staff and while I was a bit hesitant to order it was super delicious. If unfamiliar with the area I would exercise caution walking around this area at night.

Even in this day of the bug City Beer does a great job welcoming customers and providing great service. Thanks again for another great visit in strange times. If wanting to eat the City Beer Burger is really deliciously hot and juicy off the grill. I had the tater tots with the burger.

Cool spot to grab some good beers. We came here for the Pliny the Younger release. They handled it incredibly well, and had people in and out easily.Id like to try some of the other beers they have on top -- they all looked so tasty!

Great beer selection, interesting menu and excellent, friendly service. Dinging a star due to an inaccurate beer menu that resulted in a dollar overcharge. Hip atmosphere, outdoor seating available in an enclosure guessing to discourage passersby from interacting with guests.

One of my favorite beer spots in SF! Draft and bottle/can selection is top-notch. Patio gets great sunlight, so makes it easy to sit outside year-round. Interior is clean and modern, which may bother some that are nostalgic for the old location, but I think its much more welcoming.

The burger was delicious and the beer selection wonderful. That said, $9 for a pint is a bit steep but I guess thats what I should expect in this city.

Small basement bar with a good selection of craft beers on tap (including Coconut Kitten Party at the time I was there). Also, a good selection of craft bottles with a small corkage fee.

New location is big and awesome. Lots of great, hard to find, beers on tap and in the shop. Its a well curated selection of top shelf beer geek brews. Mostly local. Most styles from barrel aged sours to hopped Belgians to imperial porters to wee heavys and some nice can four packs in the bottle shop. They are also set up to serve food, though i didnt try anything.

Love their new location. The food is excellent - special plug for the salt and vinegar onion rings, and their burger. Great beer on tap and as before, you can purchase bottles from the shop and drink in the eating area for a corkage fee. Service is decently prompt and friendly. One tip: if you have a tab at the bar, dont put your bottle shop purchases on it - it gets lumped in with your food and drink, so you end up having to pay SF mandates and tip on it (or look like a jerk if you dont).

Great beer selection on tap and in bottle. I didnt sample food, so cannot speak to that menu. BA beers were in plenty supply. Enjoyed the bottle selection and walked away with a couple of new beers. I followed the advice of a previous reviewer and closed my tab at the bar so as to avoid additional costs associated with package/to-go purchase. No kids allowed, which is a bummer when youre visiting with family.

Great food and good selection of beers. Its nearby the civic center garage and super close to the orpheum if youre looking for a good place for burgers and beer. I didnt realize how much food they give you and accidentally over ordered.

They should pick a different name, there are lots of popular bay area beers they missed. Bevmo has good beer too. It isnt horrible at the end of the day. They do offer extensive beer list.

Alright, this isn’t based on a good experience of this place. I went during the Covid times, and they’re only doing curbside online orders.I’ve heard that this place has hands down the best beer selection in San Francisco. I was unfortunate enough to come during the Covid, and as such couldn’t step inside the store.From their (awful) online menu, I saw a lot of overpriced grocery store beer and stuff that I can find pretty much anywhere else. Is this the Whole Foods of beer? Do I get to pay a premium just to shop here? Delightful.I’ll be sure to stop in and reevaluate after all this ends, but I do know one thing for sure: you guys need a new website.

Walked from in-and-out via painted ladies via some interesting areas. Saw an arrest live. Good beer but took ages to drink given the burger.

We had a company HH here on a Friday night. Being a group of 13, we made a rez and were happy to be put off in the corner by the kitchen. Their offerings of beer were plenty and enjoyed the option to take some home which many of us did. The fried chicken and tater tots were absolutely delicious. Our waitress was super helpful and friendly and the food and drinks came quickly. The vibe and crowd here are chill and there are plenty of seating options including outdoor seats.Pros: Great spot for groups big and small, cozy and great assortment of food and beerCons: Nothing comes to mind

A very nice place to visit, which is pub, which also got a beer-store inside the pub. The pub got many diffrent and interesting types of beer (and also a small food-menu).The store got even more types of beer, many that I have never even heard of before.

Best beer buying experience Ive ever had. I had a great time shopping here and got really cool and good recommendations from the employee that was helping me. They helped me provide a super nice beer tasting for a holiday party. Really high quality beer and got it for really good prices. Definitely coming back again, and again, and again!

Came here yesterday for the first time after they moved locations.(+) Food menu. Their onion rings and mochiko chicken were really good.(+) Ambience. Super clean, high ceilings, well-lit, I love the under the sea mural on the wall behind the bar and love the whale can in the back.(+) Plethora of seating so youre not just crammed talking with people.(+) Great beer selection, both on tap and in the can store in the back.

Well this place went downhill quick. I’ve been coming to this place since they opened their old location. The customer service has always been awesome and super accommodating and friendly. Since moving to the new location I’ve noticed that the feeling of beer community is diminishing. I had finally had the worst experience tonight. I have always depended on City Beer Store to have great beers on tap and available for sale. Upon entering my friends and I sat at the bar while the bartenders ignored us until finally taking our order 10 minutes later. There was a large group at one of the tables, screaming every five minutes. I’ve been a bartender for 7 years, and every time I have overly loud groups I try to keep it mellow as to not disturb other customers. Regardless, I enjoyed my beer and saw a few people being let into the “closed” bottle buying area. As I closed out my tab, I asked if it was possible to see the back area as I had seen other people go in. The bartender immediately started arguing with me and giving me an attitude. The other bartender decided he needed to be in the conversation in a attempt to escalate the situation further. I expressed my frustration and was told that I could leave and my business was not wanted. The customer is definitely always wrong here is now. It is sad to see how this place has declined as it has always been my go to for great distribution and good beer. Out of the thousands of dollars I’ve spent there I’ve always been pleased until tonight. Disappointing.

Listen, youre going to find an amazing selection of hard to find tasty beers here on draft and to take home - I mean its City Beer Store. But boy do I miss the old small basement spot on Folsom. They did a great job designing the new location on Mission and they now serve food, but the grit is gone. Still a great spot to enjoy some suds.

Long day, hungry, needed to get a drink and some food and be at a meeting in less than an hour. Though my best judgement was telling me that going to a place like this during beer week would not be the most efficient, I decided to be optimistic and went in. It was busy, only a couple open seats left and all the staff hustling. I snagged a seat and within ten minutes, I had a burger in front of me and already sipping a cold delicious beer. The burger looked too simple to cost 16 dollars... But I was pleasantly surprised to find that the two patties melted with cheese and grilled onions on buttery, toasty bun was the best burger Ive had in a long time. No fries on the side? I dont even care at this point. I got just what I wanted and was in and out quick! Glad to see this business expand and do it really well. Cheers city beer store, Ill be back regularly.

Great beer selection. A ton of options on Draft, and a pretty diverse bottle/can selection in the back. Not the cheapest option, but its not that far out of line either. I didnt try the food, but it sounded good. The bartender and other staff were all friendly and seemed knowledgeable.

Great selection of both draughts and bottle shop that you can browse, buy, and drink on premise. Staff was really nice and helpful when ordering at the bar and shopping in the store, and had lots of info on the rare bottles they carried. Really enjoyed the few bites we had as well.

Great place to grab an after-work beer. The general area is chaotic but inside is nice and spacious. Nice bartenders and great selection. Prices are a tad high.

This is one of the best bottle shops/tap rooms in the country. The staff are always helpful and friendly. I always try to stop by when I’m traveling to San Francisco as this place continuously has the best West Coast options. Definitely go if you have the opportunity.

I visited this place during my recent trip to SF and had a wonderful experience. My first day in SF was spent alone and finding this place really made me feel comfortable in the City. It was obvious they have many regulars and the slight basement like feel contributes to the intimacy of the place.Im very into beer, but dont have an intimate knowledge of the brews local to SF. Thankfully, the staff was incredible helpful and made several excellent suggestions. As a cherry on top, I was able to grab a 4-pack of Disco Ninja by Revision Brewing Company on my way back to my Airbnb. This place really has it all!

I was visiting SF and found this place looking for a place I could get some local beer to take back with me. The place was packed. They sell beer in bottles and cans, growlers, and by the glass. I thought I would sit down at the bar for a couple of beers but couldnt find a spot so I decided to take a look at thier bomber selection. One of the clerks was very helpful and after helping me select a few beers directed me to a small brewery that was close by. That place was great as well.

Great spot to pick up some fantastic Cali craft beers. Im from Chicago and always stop here when Im in town to bring back some beer in my suitcase. Last time I brought back some Russian River goodies, Alvarado St and was even surprised to see some Hoof Hearted. Didnt realize in their new location they had food so going to have to try that next time.
