I have to send the whole team a big thank you. Everyone was beyond professional but more importantly, exceptionally communicative and refreshingly honest. My 2018 Volvo XC60 was up for regularly scheduled maintenance and after sourcing a handful of absurdly high quotes, I was lucky enough to come across The Garage. They understood my concerns of being surprised by an astronomical bill and talked me through every step of the way.They addressed the immediate necessary needs - oil change, tire rotation, etc. During their overall assessment, they uncovered an issue with my rear wiper and a full computer diagnostic was recommended. They reached out to get confirmation if I wanted to proceed and I approved. Upon an inconclusive testing result, they refused to charge me. We talked through what they would have to do to identify the problem in the future and they did not pressure me at all to pursue in the immediate.Its beyond refreshing and comforting to find a place that have the customers best interests at heart. You dont find very many places like that these days.Thanks team!
First time diagnostic inspection of my 1989 Mazda subcompact 4 speed stick that tackles local San Francisco up and down hills like no big deal. The front desk was friendly, respectful, focused, courteous, credible, heard what I wanted, fixed nothing without asking, no nonsense,, reasonable, knowledgeable, and gave me thé usual lucky advice: come back in a year. A quality honest shop.
I think Danny and his crew were thorough yet conservative in handling the 60,000 mile tune up.. However, my brake light sensor indicated that further investigation is necessary. Danny suggested I bring the car back the following Monday to follow up.I was pleased with this service and staff.

These guys are straight up legit. They partner with you to get the most out of your car and dont try to sell you anything that you dont need. That is why I dont even think twice when needing service for my 2011 Honda Odyssey. I used to get ripped off by the dealership until it finally dawned on me that things were fishy and expensive. Go ahead, shop around- you wont find a better value or better people. They got their customer service and pricing figured out perfectly. I took my 2015 Audi A3 in because it was leaking oil, and the electronics were acting up. The staff was amazing and courteous! They kept me updated on any changes or new issues that they found. My car is running beautifully now. Legit my favorite shop in the city. No nonsense, just dope work! Would definitely go back and I’m going to start taking my girl’s car in so they can work on it too!
I brought in my 98 SN95 because I had a coolant leak and it looked pretty bad from the outside looking in, but Ray and Kyle at The Garage said no problem just bring it on by they ran a diagnostic and found the Bain of my problems and a solution. I’ll definitely bring my Mustang back to them for any issue(s) in the future

Great customer service, very honest, no extra repair. They performed a checkup of my car for free. They told me to replace the tires in a different store before a long trip. They ended up just replacing the windshield wipers for a few bucks. I highly recommend them!!!!

He took the time to explain their process and kept me informed throughout. During their investigation of the problem, they found other issues, he quickly informed me via text and followed up with a phone call. This is my first time taking my car to The Garage, but it wont be the last time. I will definitely go back to them for future repair works.

Check engine light came on and I was able to schedule an appointment with The Garage within a few days. They are very professional and communicative and had sent me the diagnostics report in a timely manner (within a few hours of dropping my car off). Also had my brakes replaced since it was about that time anyways. Was able to drop my car off in the morning and pick it up the next day. Will be going here for all my future car service needs.
Honest, timely, thorough mechanic shop. I recently brought my car here after being hastily quoted on an oil leak and rear shock problem at another mechanic. I was experiencing some lack of trust in mechanics, but The Garage did a phenomenal job. They send you a very detailed report (with pictures) on the car to look at and keep on file, and they take the time to answer all the questions you may have. As someone who doesn’t know too much about vehicles, I felt really confident in the information they gave me about the issues I needed to fix. I have had my 2004 Volvo serviced and cared for by The Garage for well over ten years. From the beginning, they proved to be, not only competitively priced, but more importantly professional, and knowledgeable. They have never attempted to sell me something I did not need, they always explained exactly what was going on with this car, and did so in a manner that I was able to understand. I always felt confident they were keeping my car running in tip-top condition. The bonus to their maintenance know-how, is their friendly, cheerful staff. Somebody at the Garage totally understands customer service, and imparts that knowledge to every employee. In all those years, each individual I have dealt with is genuinely concerned about my safety and the upkeep of my car. I cannot rate them highly enough. I was looking for a nice clean shop to start working on my VW. I called around before i settled on the Garage. Brian Blew me away, Friendly, courteous and the price was very fair. Only $125 Vs. $400 at another shop( Valencia St ) that was just feeding me BS in an attempt to scare me and to rip me off. Truth be told folks, do your research, call around and watch out for fast talking individuals. The garage was clearly the winner in this one. Shout out to Brian too.

My long-time mechanic retired, so hopefully tried The Garage when the brake wear sensor came on in my 2916 Mini Cooper. Figured the pads were shot at 65K and xxpecting a $1500+ bill if new rotors were needed also, but no: the competent and honest mechanics at The Garage found a faulty brake sensor which they quickly replaced. That repair and a full 10K service with all filters replaced cost less at The Garage than the oil change at my last mechanic.Work was all professionally done, and on time. Great work, great value-- a rare feeling.
I needed a battery, the old one (and it was old, 2006) died suddenly. They were very helpful. When I asked if I should get AAA to just jump the battery or have my car towed, they explained how the system works, that if the alternator works (which it did), I should be able to get down there ok (which I did). When I left the car, they did a free overall test of other problems. Found that I needed steering fluid and brake fluid -- immediately (which I had them do). They also advised I get hood struts, which, fortunately, they had on hand and put in. Overall, I was very pleased with their work and efficiency. I used to take my car to Roger/Melrose Motors, who retired and sold to The Garage. Fortunately, The Garage kept a lot of Rogers mechanics, who have been working on my car for years. Im very happy. Been taking my car here for years. Kyle and team always give top notch service and honest about what really needs to be done. This last one was a real puzzle as I was having trouble starting my car *only after I put gas in it.* Couldnt reproduce it on command as it didnt happen anywhere else. The Garage figured out the problem was a faulty sensor of fuel vapor in my gas line which is in agreement with the symptoms I experienced. I am SO thankful for their service!! Got my car back a few hours later.

These guys are my go to shop. I have an OLD xterra with 250k miles on it and i take it here regularly for maintenance. Somehow theyve managed to keep me on the road, probably using magic on my car.Theyre trustworthy and are good mechanics. Id recommend this shop to anyone.

Felt disrespected and overcharged. Inside door handle was broken along with the window controls. We took it in, hoping to get entire thing repaired. They look at it, tell us to wait while they get the parts. When they do, and we come back, they realized something was wrong with the electrical components, and would have to order even more parts. We had to press the guy for him to admit that they should have found this out the first time, initially he would not suggest any wrongdoing. I am well versed in electrical engineering and could tell right away the guy had no idea what he was talking about. In fact, I felt good about repairing the electronics myself, but we wanted the car door to feel more stable. So we wait again for a part to arrive. They proceed to just fix the electronics, which I could have done myself. Upon being asked why they could not fix the entire handle, they said they needed a certain part that was rare and expensive. THEY NEVER MENTIONED THAT BEFORE, NOR THAT WHAT THEY WERE FIXING WAS JUST THE ELECTRONICS. They should have told us from the start our options, instead of stringing us along for the most expensive outcome. The guy was rude and would not admit it could have been handled better. Lesson: bring friends who like cars to shop, to avoid getting ripped off.

Kyle answered the phone immediately and professionally (which was a stark contrast to the other shop Id been trying to reach for a week). He was very friendly and knowledgeable about my situation (stolen catalytic converter from a 2008 Prius). I had my vehicle towed to The Garage on a Friday afternoon and the car was ready for me by Tuesday (including the time needed to order custom parts). Kyle stayed in close contact every step of the way, so I had complete confidence that I was well taken care of. The prices were fair, service was top-notch, and Id both recommend them and return for future services.

I have had my car fixed up here three times (old Honda Accord). They really are phenomenal. It feels weird to rave about a mechanic, but they are on time, their prices are great, and they communicate everything clearly.
Wanted to wait a few thousand miles before reviewing. Cannot recommend this shop enough. Kyle not only helped me through purchasing a used car (inspection) but he took extremely good care of the car after I ended up buying it. Their prices are extremely reasonable considering their turnaround, location, and how good the work is. Everyone is super friendly, they seriously know their stuff and Kyle even replaced a broken wiper for me free of charge. Ive spent thousands at other mechanics in different cities and never experienced such good treatment and helpful advice.Seriously these guys are the best mechanics Ive ever had the pleasure of dealing with and the car is running like a dream ~4k miles later. Hopefully Kyle owns the shop (or will own it soon) because he runs it like a well tuned sports car.

I have taken my car there for several years. This place used to be good, but i took my 2011 Ford Escape there last week for its 95K service. I was asked when I needed it back, I said 2pm. The receptionist, Lily Caro, who later was identified on my paperwork as the service adviser, said alright. I assumed that meant, it would be ready on time. Well I was never called and I called them at 4:45 pm and was told it was ready. I was never given any information about what was found needing repairs, except 2 tires that would need replaced soon. I said alright. They used give you a call and let you know what needs servicing when they are working on the car. At pick up all she gave me was a receipt with the payment info on it and not much else. They used to give you a link to all the items inspected, checked, replaced, and would reiterate things that need to be fixed. I was never called about anything needing work. I asked about the link for what they did, and was told, I dont know, let me see. She was able to send the link to my email. When I could finally open the link, it listed several item, including:1. valve cover gasket: Rec to replace engine valve cover2. Front Suspension System:Left LCA bushings cracking/tearingRight LCA bushings cracking/tearingReplace control arm(s)3. Drive Axle Boots: seeping Right and Rear inner4. And a left blinker bulb not working.I was never told of any of these things. The worst sounding like, If the drive axle breaks, then the vehicle will not drive.I am not bringing my car back to them and will seek out a new mechanic. Something seems to have changed, and not for the better. This Lily person doesnt know anything about cars nor have any customer service.

Their prices were awesome and totally affordable. Ran a computer test free of charge, fixed some minor things, and took it next door to the auto shop to get a quote for my rear bumper without any hidden fees.Definitely recommend giving this place a look.

They gave me an initial quote for replacing brakes over the phone (half the price the dealership quoted!), and were able to get me scheduled to drop my car off just a day or so later. Work was done same day, and they even stayed open a couple of minutes late when I was running a few minutes behind in picking up. Will definitely be coming back to The Garage in the future!

I was having trouble with my 2004 Honda Accord check engine light and brought it to the Garage. The guys are very friendly, helpful, and not intimidating like other shops. My car needed minor maintenance which they took care of in a timely manner. The location is also great - easy on and off the freeway. I will definitely take my car back for future maintenance.

Took my 01 Toyota MR2 Spyder in for a full checkup after pulling it out of storage. Kyle quoted me a fair price (with breakdown, via email) for all the serviced I anticipated needing. Scheduling was also done via email. I was 30 min late getting to my appt and was able to call ahead to let them know. Got oil changed, brakes bled and battery replaced by end of day. They didnt have an air filter in stock, but I was able to come in the next day for it (20min). The tech forgot to check my tire pressures as part of the overall service, but I was able to point this out and addressed on my subsequent visit. Overall, really happy with service and value for money.
Moved to SF from Chicago a year ago and really had to read through tons of reviews before deciding to bring my business to The Garage. Couldnt be happier with my decision to make The Garage my go-to shop when my Lexus IS250 needs any sort of work. Staff is super friendly, and just as importantly, they are incredibly responsive to both emails and calls.
