I have purchased a number of items from this seller over the past 4 years as I work near his shop (about six blocks away). I have purchased two tables, several retablos and ex-votos, two silver plates, and a few Guatemalan masks. In all, I have probably had over 15 separate transactions with him (including a couple of trades). In the process I can honestly say I have never had any problems. All deals have been professional and he has entertained fair offers and held items for me as I waited to make a decision. For about a year, mostly last year, I am aware that he closed his shop due to personal medical issues which I understand are now resolved. The material he handles and offers for sale is top of the line and there are increasingly fewer and fewer dealers selling these pieces. I highly recommend this seller.

Don’t trust this guy! We negotiated via email my purchase of 4 objects for $10,000. He had me overnight a check on 4/26, cashed it and never sent the objects. Despite numerous calls and emails, I can’t reach him. He’s stolen my money and now I’m filing a police report and suing him. Beware! He’s unethical and may steal your money too!UPDATE - After 6 months of trying to retrieve objects purchased in April 2018 from Colonial Arts, a friend of ours read my Yelp review and happened to be in SF. She very graciously took the time to visit Colonial Arts and met with Richard Anderson, who is sharing space with Mr. Eddy. Together they were able to locate the objects I purchased. Richard was very kind to ship them to me, and was extremely helpful. Im grateful to our friend, Laura, and Richard.Apparently Mr. Eddy has taken ill, but his shop continues to be open while he recovers. I now understand why I hadnt received my purchased objects. So all is forgiven and Ive notified the police to terminate the investigation, which theyve done. I am happy to put this chapter behind me. As mentioned previously, the quality of objects at Colonial Arts is very high, my past experiences were all very positive, and Mr. Eddys illness explains why I havent heard from him despite repeated attempts. I wish him well as he recovers.

Be careful ! This guy is not trustworthy at all!I was interested by 3 Guatemalan monos masks. The price was 1550 $. I tried to bargain, making several offers, with the suggestion to pay via Paypal friends and family as to save cost for him. Offers systematically refused. I had finally to accept his starting price. Upon agreement, I paid immediately 1550 $, via Paypal. He discussed the fact that I did pay using pay for goods (but my offers having been refused, why should I have to pay as friends and family with fees on my side, and loosing the benefit of purchase protection ??). As a compromised, I suggested anyway to split the cost of his fees, and paid right a way 50$ more via Paypal, asking him if he did agree about this deal.No answer !! I send another email 24 hours later, asking again his opinion. As only answer, I received messages from Paypal telling me that I had been refund. No explanations ! No more contact, despite several emails from my part.I lost 150 $ from Paypal reimbursements fees and reloading of debit cards.Visiting his website today (one week after these events), I realize that some of the masks are indicated now as SOLD !!!So he killed a deal already paid, to make another one with someone else, betraying his word, and inducing costs for me.This guy is a crook !

A month ago I ordered two books on retablos online from colonial arts and was billed and debited through Pay Pal $89.90 US. When I received no confirmation I emailed just to confirm that my order was being processed. I received no reply. A month later I phoned and the mailbox is full and it seems to be a personal number not a business. I fear that I have been ripped offItem# 28$29.95 USD1$29.95 USD) Art and Faith in Mexico below is a copied portion of the PayPal billItem# 36$34.95 USD1$34.95 USDSubtotal$64.90 USDShipping and handling$25.00 USDTotal$89.90 USDPayment$89.90 USDCharge will appear on your credit card statement as PAYPAL *COLONIALART
