We’ve had our couch for 1 year now and we are very happy with it. It is a solid construction, my daughter is jumping on it every day and the couch feels and looks as if we just bought it. The mechanical parts work great too.I just bought a crib mattress from them. Let’s see if this baby will now sleeps more than 1h.

We needed a chair size futon, and when I called, I got Carol in Sacramento. What a great help she was!! Talked with me about options, sent me pics via text for chair futons they had on the showroom floor, as well as fabric and color options. After a couple of days, we settled on a plan, she put the package together, and it was shipped to our remote location up in the north country of Montana. No Futon Shop anywhere near here!!! It is perfect!! The color of the fabric, the mattress of natural wool and latex is great, the piping added the perfect crisp touch and the ottoman is so nice, too. This all fits in our small upstairs guest area perfectly. The only glitch was that the ottoman frame that comes with a chair futon was not quite the right size, so they immediately sent out the correct size and we are all set! The futon shop and its sister shop the honest sleep aka tfsleep are very flexible in terms of choices of natural mattresses and futon. The choices in products are natural/chemical free and most even organic. I ordered the cocorest mattress and it is very ideal especially with the amount of coconut coir. The tfsleep site vs thefutonshop have similar choices but if you want unique and custom options - the futon shop main site is your best bet. The shipping is high but it seems to be for a reason and it makes sense in hindsight. I recommend knowing what you want and reading site in totality and being mindful of the turnaround time and shipping cost. This is not amazon prime and rightfully so. This is a hand made mattress here not a cheap usb flash drive!Even though there was a bit of a confusion on shipping price Marina is the best. She is like the mother you wished you have. Very helpful, prudent, kind and informative. She will assist expeditiously on most aspects.Overall I would say be mindful and prepared to pay a large amount for shipping but because the mattresses are so well made it will last a very long time. They are the only company I see making mattresses withOUT coils AND with large amounts of coconut coir. Very supportive and you will not sleep with antennas underneath you. Very upstanding company. I was very impressed with the level of service I received from the store manager, Bert. All I purchased was a facemask via the online store for my daughter. I was interested in the copper anti-microbial technology. Unfortunately, the mask was so small it wouldn’t fit her. When I called, Bert informed me they could not except returns or exchanges on masks, which of course made sense to me. He wanted to make sure he had a happy customer, however, so he emailed me out another one that he thought might work, free of charge! You don’t find this level of service much these days - I would definitely recommend this store as you can feel confident you will be taken care of!!

I really appreciate Burt at The Futon Shop in San Francisco. I need to replace the futon on my couch and when it arrived, I realized I made a mistake. It was very comfortable but it wasnt as thick as I would have liked. When I called and talked to Burt, He suggested I get a topper. It arrived last week and it works wonderfully. It feels and smells so good. I even purchased a bed for my pup!

We first talked to Charles in one of their Bay Area offices and he was extremely supportive in helping us decide which futon to get. He patiently walked us through several options and let us know what would fit our budget. Then we were introduced to Burt at the SF store and he was amazing! He helped ensure that our futon was made in time for us to use it. In addition, after we originally picked up the futon, we noticed there was a tear in the seam. Poor customer service - sofa did not match color expectations and swatches sent were all different shades despite having the same code. After a couple of weeks of emailing back and forth customer service team stopped responding altogether and we had to request a refund from the credit card company

I have cherry wood futon, one of the bolts cracked.I contact the warranty department, they told me that’s is normal, cherry wood is very straight hard and I shouldn’t be worried about this matter.I never listen such stupid thing .I been calling the futon shop in San Francisco, their costumer services totally sucks.

The Futon Shop is deserving of AT LEAST 5 stars. Ever since I was hit by a car years ago, my back is very sensitive. A mattress from The Futon Shop gave me my first uninterrupted sleep in over 3 months.The selection is so much that I called customer service directly, which was incredibly helpful. Bert talked through all the options and my preferences. He is knowledgeable and patient.I live across the country, and the shipping process was a little complicated. Bert and his colleagues were very thorough.It was all worth it to have decent, deep sleep again. Highly recommended!

Tatami arrived from California (NY state) seriously damaged. Eight inches of one edge were thoroughly crushed. Shipping cost $170. No response whatsoever from them to four phone calls and three emails over two days. First reaction: anger. Theyre crooked, going bankrupt, or just plain sleazy. Second reaction: Action. Buyer beware!

I do not recommend this business unless you can visit one of their stores and test the mattresses for yourself. I ordered a wool mattress online and it did not match the description whatsoever. My hips and shoulders ached. I then purchased a latex topper hoping it would help. It didnt. The strong smell of wool/sheep took weeks to go away. The mattress protector shrank after washing and no longer fully covers the mattress. When I wrote to customer service to inquire about an exchange (they supposedly offer a 30 day exchange policy), it took a week to receive a response. Their response contained some questions which I answered. Days later, Ive heard nothing back. They also havent posted my review on their website. It wasnt a good review but it was honest. I wonder, do they only post good reviews? There are other companies out there that make eco-friendly mattresses at similar price points with better return/exchange policies. I would suggest purchasing a mattress from them - unless you seek a classic futon.

I needed to replace an old futon mattress. Burt helped me pick out a new mattress and mattress cover. He didnt try to upsell me on a new frame. He didnt push me to a more expensive mattress. He was able to answer all my questions about how they were made. He explained all the rules around returns. Then he delivered it to my home the next day and set it all up. I will definitely be coming back for any other futon needs.

Not only am I in love the futon that I purchased from here after weeks of of online searching, the manager Burt was extremely helpful and went out of his way to have pillows custom made for me so that they would match the carpet that I was having installed. 5 stars on product and customer service

I ordered a combination cotton/silk mask. I was looking for something more substantial than my current homemade mask. I ordered a large which fit perfectly for an average male and was comfortable. I like the high thread count for the cotton portion of the mask. I think the silk adds an extra layer of protection and comfort. Coast to coast order fulfillment to delivery was outstanding.

I was in the market for a futon because my traditional mattress was simply not cutting it and I couldnt sleep well at all my back was getting crushed. I found an incredible solution here and I got the all natural wool futon that has turned out to be the best purchase of my year so far. Super comfortable and the craftsmanship is superb. This futon mattress will last me a very long time and I couldnt be happier with the product. The sales staff is phenomenal and very customer service oriented. So glad I came here!

They do not issue refunds. The colors on their website are so far off as to be a joke. They take returns for store credit but you have to pay for shipping both ways and a restocking fee. Worst experience I have ever had with a retailer. Purchased a futon on 8/25/19. It is now 10/15/19 and I STILL have not received my $519.49 purchase. I paid $140 for shipping and handling. How would you like to order something and have your hard earned money tied up for TWO MONTHS!? (1) They shipped my purchase late. (2) My package was lost in transit. On 9/22, the shipping company contacted them and said it was lost in transit. The Futon Shop said they would call me back regarding order. They never did. (3) On 10/15 I contacted The Futon Shop. No response via email or phone. They never bothered shipping out another futon. They just stole my money. Really sleazy company. Dont buy from them. Im contacting the BBB and my bank to get my money back.

I dont write many bad reviews. Had a horrible experience working with Sue. She produced highly a vindictive personality with toxic threats. She changed the scope of work that our company performed with her and did not want to pay after we had worked for her for a month.

George H. is a very manipulative and dishonest salesperson. We ordered a mattress, and he added a mattress cover to the bill without telling us, and when we called it out, he didn’t apologize and went on to sell the mattress cover to us.We ordered the mattress, but realized that we don’t need it anymore the next day. Even though the shop has not started making the mattress for us, George would not allow us to cancel the order. And when we purchased, there was NO verbal warning that there are no cancellations.This was in May this year, he went ahead and made a mattress we don’t need. We never picked it up. He basically scammed us $500!!!He also gave discounts contingent on us giving him a good review on yelp and google, very questionable sales practice.——Update:Had a call with George nov. 16, he was extremely rude and coarse. Be careful of anything he tricks you into buying, because there are NO refunds. Once you give your money to him, you’ll never get it back!

Its a tough decision to figure out what sleep material, size, shape, and feel will work best for you. I made a much more informed choice by visiting the shop and receiving honest and helpful suggestions based on my needs (definitely recommend going there in person if you can). The futons I purchased not only arrived on time as planned (thank you Jose who contacted me personally both in advance and on the day of the delivery), but the quality and comfort were just as good as I had hoped. My in store and web customer service experiences were all excellent. Looking forward to many more restful nights to come. Thank you very much!

He took the time to show us around the entire storeroom, and answered all of our questions. We were enamored with a particular sofa, but did not commit that day. Later, when we found lower price from a competitor, George was willing and able to help us obtain a price match, and arranged a swift delivery was convenient for our schedule.All in all, it was a pleasurable experience dealing with George and the Futon Shop and I would recommend them to any friends looking for a new futon or sofa-bed.

This is one of the worst mattress stores I have ever been in. The customer service was the worst ever. (A man named George was *helping* me. By helping I mean really condescending and rude.). If this is the customer service before someone bought a mattress I can not even imagine the customer service after you bought the product.Please avoid this store by all means. I went to the futon shop today with my husband and young son today The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and patient. I feel good about supporting a place thats local and that does manufacturing here. Im also really juiced about the chemical free bedding.The futon I chose looks great as a sofa and will be super comfy and long lasting guest bed and sofa. . Michael and Tray were excellent sales people without being pushy or manipulative . I recommend this place.

I am one of those shoppers who walks in and says this is my budget. I had a Visa Gift Card with a remaining balance of around $400. He said I can make it work This is the first piece of new furniture I have a bought in a very long time. Even with the delivery charge I bought the Niles sleeper sofa for around $425. It was delivered on time and they even called a day ahead to confirm and again the next morning when they were 20 minutes out. The delivery persons were fantastic. I slept on the sofa bed last night and woke refreshed. The sofa is very comfortable in all the positions and seems very sturdy.

A great place for organic and/or natural (non petroleum-based) furniture (mostly made from materials like cotton, wool, and latex). While its called the Futon Shop, they also have mattresses, pillows, sofas, etc. We really enjoy our Eco Orlando sofa, which pulls out into a bed. Ask for George, who was the very helpful floor manager when we visited. This location is also their production factory.

George was great helping us out to pick a Futon for a our guest room. No hard selling, just showing the options and trying to find something that would suit our needs. Would recommend.

I purchased a mattress topper, and a bean bag chair, both at different times totaling around ~$600. Ive been in twice for the bean bag chair, and for the topper, and each time they had sold the items i purchased to someone else. After the second time they said it was sold, someone said they would deliver the item for free that Monday because of the inconvenience. So I stayed home from work that Monday and nothing happened. I dont have time to deal with this, so eventually I called to say I want my money back... multiple times. Most the time, the employee that works there said she hadnt talked to the manager yet, and shed have to call me back, since they arent supposed to do refunds... even though they have my money, AND my items. I purchased them 6 MONTHS AGO.The last communication I had from them was when a manager finally called me about a month ago, after talking he told me he would call me back, and then never did. This also is happening to my friend, who I referred and who purchased a mattress topper ~$600. She will be taking the company to small claims. All I want is my money back, and since they already sold the products to someone else it wont even hurt their bottom line. Im writing this review in some hopes that it may influence them to do whats right...It sucks that this has to overshadow the good experience Ive had previously. Its great to have a place that offers organic mattresses. And its a place I would have continued to refer people. :(

Bought an armless frame (not the easiest thing to operate) and a sprung mattress (totally awesome) as a guest bed/couch, and its pretty sweet. Better still was Trashon and Davids excellent service and relaxed Sunday afternoon attitude and low pressure sales pitch. They let us kick back and browse to our hearts content, and shot us a discount and some free pillows that were on promotion. It was still a chunk of change, but we a happy with the purchase and especially happy with the service. Way to go, kids!

There was a mistake with my order and even though I called several times right after placing it I got only voicemail. I left a message but no one responded. I called again later that day and finally got ahold of someone who promised me they would look into it and get back to me but they didnt. I called again after I saw that I had been charged anyway and was told that even though theres a mistake the order cannot be cancelled. Upon reading others reviews here I realized this company is now run by scammers. Any time there is a no returns/no cancellations policy its because the company cannot stand behind its products or its service. And the customer service is awful. Dont take a chance with this company.

The buying experience was great! The website was easy to navigate. And there were many options available. I chose to order over the phone from Mike Pittman, because he was very knowledgeable and made sure all items matched.

I contacted the store and spoke to the previous manager about returning some products purchased that were not to the specifications that had been described by the store manager. He said he was working with customer service and then I did not receive a call back for couple weeks. Every time I tried calling back he was not available. Then I found out that he no longer works there and then the new manager Mark spoke to me a few times and I explained the situation to him. He said that if I am not happy with the product, I can ship it back and they will issue a refund. I asked if that is doable outside of their policy and he said to ship it back and they can refund me in full. So I spent $86 in shipping and sent back the unused products. Then last Friday I get an invoice in my email, stating that they were charging me $71 in cancellation fees and an additional $60 for shipping. That was not the conversation I had with the manager who had indicated I will be refunded in full and on top of that I spent my own money for the shipping so why am I being charged a shipping fee for the return? I called their customer service and the lady who helped me said they will make the correction, get it approved by the manager and I should receive my refund. Then suddenly today I get a really rude message in my email inbox, stating that they will not refund per their policy b;ah blah and that they will issue a store credit after subtracting the cancellation fee and a $60 shipping fee which they did not pay for and that I have 6 months to use this credit. This seems like a rip off scam to me = I call the store manager, talk to him and he says they will refund which is why I spent $86 out of my pocket to ship back the product, And now they change their story and refuse to issue my refund & on top of that they are charging me for shipping that I paid for. This is very unscrupulous practice and I have spent almost $3000 at this store - they need a lesson in customer satisfaction and retention. I will NEVER buy from THEM

This place is great. They rightly boast of having chemical cal-free mattresses., a particular case McEnroe of mine. They are easy to work with, friendly, and flexible. I have bought many mattresses and pillows here. I live their wool mattresses.

Needing a new mattress and frame instead of going a typical mattress store I decided to check out what the Futon Shop had to offer in the way of non-toxic and latex or wool futons. I had checked on line for different options but there is nothing like actually seeing and feeling the bed. Karil the salesperson was beyond helpful and nice. She listened to all of my needs and came up with the best type of futon after explaining to me all the options. I ended up getting the best futon and saving me money. What more could you ask for! Well to top it off when she found out it was not in stock the guy in the warehouse arranged to let me have one that was already made that was going to shipped the next day but said he make another one for them and give me that one. By the way they make the futons right there and can do custom orders. Overall a great experience!

I ordered a futon for my office in New Hampshire on a Thursday, and I received the entire thing first thing on the following Tuesday morning. I was blown away by how fast I received this from California.I was also very pleased with how informed the sales person was, and how they guided me to the right choice.Overall I was very impressed with the quality of the frame and the mattress I ordered. I have been waiting more than 1 month and still cannot pick up order!!! Very unprofessional and not honest at all.Weeks ago I took one day off just to pick up order and you know what?! They gave my item to others!!! I wait another three weeks and they ask me to pick up again and the it becomes UNAVAILABLE again!! Can you believe it?!Not to mention that one employee at warehouse promised to deliver to me and then weeks later they said no, we have to pick up. It looks like a mess and they don’t take promise seriously. Worst worst management and customer service!!

I have purchased several products from this location on two occasions. in both instances i have come away feeling that i got a fair deal and received all of the quality that i expected. my most recent sales person was Desiree. i was honestly difficult having to go back and forth several times with changes and indecision. i consider her help and patience to have been excellent and therefor i would recommend this establishment.

Tatami mats arrived with a slightly musty smell. After a month of having my futon with the mats underneath there started to grow really awful mold. I flipped by futon every weekend and aired it out. The mold continues to spread from the mats. So disappointing.

I purchased a full-size, medium firm, wool latex, non-toxic futon mattress for my son’s big boy bed in 2017. The smell of the wool was very strong (think wet sheep) at delivery. We did everything to air it out for several months. We even let it sit unused for several months at an apartment as we moved into a new place before we finally covered it with several encasements to block the smell.Nothing worked, and my son and his entire room smelled of a petting zoo constantly, which became worse during the summer. In August, my small dog became so aggressive around the mattress, I assume from the strong animal smell, I decided this can’t be right.I had never owned a virgin wool mattress, so I waited six months to contact customer service when the issues created additonal problems. Unfortunately, this was just too late (for a mattres that claims to have a 20-30 year lifetime this makes very little sense?? ). Their staff neither comprehended the concept of customer nor of service. As a result, we will have to dispose/replace the mattress and eat the nearly $1000 we spent for the mattress, tax and shipping/handling within months of purchase. We are out money and the experience was very poor.

I placed an order online and less than 12 hours later tried to cancel the order. I emailed, called, tried the stores live chat, and Facebook messaged the shop. It took a week for Burt at the San Fran office to get back to me. When I told him I had been trying to cancel the order, he said this was the first he heard of it, (so why was he calling me?) He refused to discuss the cancelation with me, became rude and just kept repeating, Have you read our policy? I asked for his bosses number, and left a message saying I wanted to cancel the order. Two weeks later I found out the order had been canceled, but all the money was now store credit, including the $250 shipping charge. To avoid losing nearly $1000, we reinstated the order. When I received the mattress, it wasnt what I ordered, but was a thin mattress topper. Customer service at the Futon Shop doesnt exist, and I filed a complaint with Paypal. PayPal found in my favor, and requested a return mailing label from the Futon Shop, which they never sent. Ive had to pay $450 to send the wrong item back, to get my initial cost back. I have read multiple reviews online, Yelp and the BBB, of people having the same issues as I have had. How does this store stay in business?

We purchased this Soft Viscose futon mattress from The Futon Shop on Cesar Chavez in SF. Organic Cotton, Organic Wool, individually wrapped coils...super comfy.

Michael was so incredibly helpful!!!! He showed me all the options according to my specifications, and he was so friendly. There are so many choices at this store. Definely the place to go for a futon!

The horrible chemical smell did not go away even after months of airing. In the first month, both me & my boyfriend were sick from the reek & couldnt use the futon at all. I still have to leave it uncovered during the day, after almost 6 months.

The original futon mattress I bought from them was not a good fit for my frame and they allowed me to exchange it for a different one that they had made specifically to fit the awkward size of my futon frame. Very grateful for them.
