I had a coolant leak that the dealer claimed it would be $3,000 just to diagnose the problem (since they had to take down the engine), and up to $7-8K to repair.San Carlos Auto Solutions had the whole repair done for only about $1,500 - HALF the price the dealer wanted just to diagnose!Later my sister brought in her car due to a warning light. They didnt find any issues, so they didnt charge anything.Also great customer service from Prince.

They had me at Hello. Seriously, Prince who answered the phone when I called listened so intently, didnt rush with his answer and reassured me...same treatment when I brought in my car. When he called just 2 hours later to let me know my car was finished - I also received a digital copy of everything that was done - including checking out details that I didnt ask for like tire, fluids etc. There was no trying to upsell anything or pressure me to do/get something only the reassurance that my car was good to go. It runs so well and clean now! They were originally recommended to me by the guys at Perfect Lube in San Carlos down the street (who I LOVE). Have a 73 VW bug. Kenneth and His crew tuned carburetor and got the car running.After a few days had an idle issue and called Kenneth and he said bring it by and he would check it out. 5 minutes within arriving was running perfectly. I would highly suggest San Carlos Auto Solutions; they were transparent, knowledgeable, thorough, patient and fast. We specifically drove from San Francisco twice because of their knowledge on VW Eurovans. We took Kenneth a 1999 VW Eurovan for a pre-purchase inspection (PPI). He gave us a non-expiring link to a Digital inspection with photos, clear explanations, suggestions as well as links to informational videos. This simple-to-share link gave us the resources, knowledge and bargaining power to make fact based offers to the seller. His PPI saved us lots of money, time and headaches. When we took him a 1995 VW Eurovan he clearly explained the problems with the van and gave us repair suggestions tailored to our upcoming road trip and very importantly, our very limited budget. I would recommend Kenneth to anyone who needs their car inspected, especially if you have a Eurovan .

Absolutely great service. I had a full check and several items needed repair. some essential some optional. The owner was very helpful in explaining what needed to be done and what could be left out. In the end I descided to get everything fixed. I dropped the car off in the morning, and in the afternoon it was done. They even gave it a free wash without telling me which was a nice surprise!I went to 3 other garages in the area and they were all unpleasant but this is the one I will keep going back to!

This is the best mechanic Ive ever been to. This family owned shop genuinely cares about the customer. From the moment you are on the lot they make you feel welcome. At other mechanics I feel like Im being taken advantage of, but these guys were completely transparent with every decision and part they worked on. I had to get spark plugs replaced for my 2004 Chevy Impala. They showed me exactly how much the parts cost and when possible they allowed me select from a variety of parts. They told me the pros and cons of each brand of part so I could make an educated decision.I recently purchased a used 2014 Ford Fusion. Prior to buying it I brought it in for these guys to inspect. They have an excellent mechanic named Eric that knows American cars inside and out. He carefully explained every area he was inspecting and why he was inspecting it. He showed me what to look out for as the car ages. I felt confident going through with the purchase after the inspection.I will happily be bringing my car back to these guys, and will recommend them to anyone that is looking for a quality mechanic who cares about you, your car, and your budget.

I drove down from San Francisco to bring in my Mazdaspeed3 to diagnose and troubleshoot some suspension knocking/rattling noises, based on a recommendation that this shop does excellent work. Throughout the entire experience, Kenneth worked with me to develop a methodical plan to identify and fix the issue. From the get-go, I felt that Kenneth made an effort to understand my goals and took my opinions and suggestions with serious consideration (in addition to offering up his own very informed suggestions). Ben and SC Auto are great. I really dont do reviews, but in this case I cant pass up a chance to thank them for a recent repair. I had been using a different local mechanic to fix my Tahoe (Kevin and Bobs Auto) however, the truck kept breaking down once per year with the same problem. After bringing back twice, and then a third time... K & Bs wanted to still charge the full amount to do the repair again for a third time.At that point I went to Ben, and SC Auto. They are clear about the issues, they diagnose and explain it, and they stand behind the work for 12 months. Since my fixed Tahoe (the bill at SC Auto was a little cheaper then the other shop) Ive noticed that the truck is running better then it has in a number of years, the idle is smooth and there feels like more pickup in the acceleration (the issue was related to fuel pump, delivery, pressure). Excellent mechanics, I highly recommend them.

Thorough and honest. I brought my toyota previa in for some engine maintainance. These vans are notorious for a strange setup and diffulct access. Kennith was extremely communicative and I have been extremely impressed with his desire to get to the root of a problem and set realistic goals for fixes and improvement.My van feels amazing now, much better than expected thanks to the mechanics here clearing up some small problems that I was not aware of. All of the sudden on a Friday My VW rabbit hatch wouldnt lock, looked on Yelp most all closed on Saturdays and at 5 pm everyday.I called Kenneth I was so stressed out explained my problem whats so cool is that he said no problem i know exactly whats wrong preordered the part quoted a low estimate and Saturday afternoon it was fixed! !
