I took my 2.3L Mazda3 engine to Southwest machine after arranging to have them rebuild it.Long story short, about 5 months into the new engines life, it developed a noise. I called them up and reported the problem. I spoke with Curt, arranged to meet. He took me to some small, one man garage claiming this shop could fix the problem. Curt had a Mazda part box in his hand with a camshaft part. I picked up my car and it made the noise right away again. He tried several tricks to fix it, but it just continued. I gave him one last chance, left it all day. He called and told me it was done, so I went and picked it up and to my suprise and delight it was quiet!! Then it started running rough, and noise was comming back. I called it on rod brgs. They came apart and Im sure destroyed the crankshaft like it did last time. That is the reason the engine was there to begin with.... Some years of 2.3s have this problem, and there was suppose to be a fix, but it wasnt used. When it finally died, I just sold it for what I could get. He would never take it to the dealer like he promised after the second fix didnt work. I am a veteran ASE Master tech. retired now, but they got me..... just saying. All talk, didnt stand up for his work for me. The price went from estimated $900 over the phone. For that year, make model engine, went to $2400. ....and it still blew up. I learn from my mistakes, Ill never go there or recommend them to anyone. 🙏

The only shop around that can correctly build an AMC V8. The 360 that they built for my 77 Cherokee, not only run like a dream, it turned out to be quite a powerhouse. How is a 4 wheel burnout on dry pavement in a 4500 pound vehicle for you?

Excellent experience from start to finish. Timely, straight forward instructions on ordering, tracking, delivery and warranty requirements. I expect and certainly hope my engine is excellent as well. However, the ASE mechanic stated the engine appeared to have more than the 81,000 miles as sold with some parts painted to look newer. But, it is running smoothly and so far so good. Will update in the weeks to come -would like to give five stars.

The engine actually got here a little sooner than expected. My mechanic did decide to take the exhaust manifolds off my existing motor because the ones on the SW engine were really rusted and wanted to be preventive in needing to replace them later. My mechanic also recommended a new water pump and they also used the Intake manifold off my existing motor. The price I paid was good, had I not needed to add more parts to it once it got here, it would have been much better.

I am very pleased with the engine that I bought from Southwest Engines. I changed everything plus a few extra parts that they require that you change. After I cranked on it a little bit, she fired up and ran like a champ. I will most certainly do business with Southwest Engines again! And thank you Mrs. Lisa for the great service.

I hesitated to write this review because I have had a mixed experience and wouldnt wish it on anyone else, yet I ended happy with my engine. After receiving my used engine, my mechanic informed me that the engine that I they received was not the right one. SW Engine insisted that it was in fact the right one. there was about three weeks of calling back and forth with no willingness to fix the problem. My mechanic explained that the engine would in fact fit in my truck, but I ordered a flex fuel engine and the one they sent was not. This one was not intended to be a flex fuel. I thought for sure I would end up in small claims court with nothing but a headache to show for it. I ended up getting in touch with the local distributor that they used and they were very helpful. By Gods grace I had a backup vehicle to drive for all this extra time. They exchanged the wrong one for the right one and it ended very well, though it was almost a two month ordeal. I would not recommend SW Engines to anyone.

Really wish I could have given a better review but in light of how they handled our situation I have no other choice. First the engine (2005 5.9 Cummings) came in a little over a week, not outrageous but certainly not fast. I could have gotten one locally for about $500 more but the reviews said they were great and $500 is $500. the engine cost me $6495 delivered so we expected a RUNNING engine. Our certified mechanic installed it and we had issues from the start. Blowing blue smoke out the tailpipe not the diesel kind so we started replacing peripheral parts because it couldnt be the engine so several thousand dollars later in parts and time all that was left was to look at the engine. Well when we opened up the engine and found 3 out of 6 sets of piston rings were bad, as in broken, and SW Engines was no longer returning emails or calls. We sent the engine to a machinist to rebuild this good block . He came back with this has already been bored 30 over and a crank journal was bad we knew we did not receive anything close to a good engine. Then SW Engines sent a new random email asking when they could pick up the engine, still no offer to make it right just take the evidence back. So I made another phone call this time Scott answered in customer service and stated tersely once we receive the engine back we will refund the pruchase STILL NOTHING OF THE $7500 I HAVE SPENT FIXING THE BOAT ANCHOR THEY SENT ME! So now we have to get Lawyers involved and pay all the extra money to them instead of a reputable company settling for partial reimbursement and saying oops sorry we messed up. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE, from my point of view they are not a reputable company.

Im so glad I came across the website of this company Southwest Engines. When I read about the 3 year warranty they offered I honestly did not believe them But its true! They gave me an amazing deal with free shipping and when the engine arrived my mechanics had no problems installing. The engine was very clean and this company really operates in excellence. Recently I ordered through southwest engines after checking their site multiple times and receiving quotes, even talking to a salesperson who answered my questions. All of this gave me the confidence and trust to order from them, Im currently waiting for my order to arrive. Ordering was quick and simple and again the salesperson was very helpful.

So far so good with the used engine I purchased my mechanic had a question about the timing chain why was it put in the oil pan?Will be some time though till I reach the 1000 mile oil change mark do to a surgery but I will be interested in that oil change. If youre needing a motor quick not the way to go, but eventually it will get there. I am yet to receive my confirmation for my warranty, I fallowed the steps and sent them what they needed well within the due date to receive my warranty. and the motor they sent me leaks and the water pump is going out. On the plus side the motor has low miles. (They claim)

This company gets no stars they are Horrible. We ordered a used 6.4 engine that was supposed to be a good running engine and it was worse than the engine we already had. The engine that was sent had 2 bad cylinders and so much blow by that when the oil cap was removed oil would hit the hood. We called and talked the the warranty department and they said since we didnt run the engine for 2 weeks they could do nothing for us. This is after we had to get a computer print out of the problems and bad cylinders. I explained that it is not runnable and all I got was a sorry. I have emailed several times and called several times. But no avail. I would not use this company. I will never again. And they wont refund my money either. I bought a Jasper engine sure it was a little more expensive but at least it runs like it is supposed to. I told the warranty guy that I would just by a Jasper and he laughed at me. I have emailed them to come get their engine and after 3 months I still have it on their crate ready to be shipped back.

You guys are nothing more than crooks, thugs and dishonest people. I do not know how you sleep at night, hide behind loophole to still money from hardworking honest people. I made my money from going to war, knowing that am I not come back, not the easy way around. you send me an bad engine and my car still at the mechanic shop. Ive talked to these people on many occasions before and after I bought the engine, no one told me anything about registering the engine. You only able to talk to someone when you are buying part otherwise they rarely pick up their phone. I wish you guys well.

Ive been coming to Southwest engines since 2005 when I bought my first set of rebuilt heads for a 68 Ford pickup theyre very knowledgeable they do quality work at beyond reasonable prices they stick to OEM specifications they dont do custom engines which in my opinion makes them more suited to quality and reliable work I just dropped off my second motor for machine work that we are rebuildingI think some of the negative reviews are from another business that sells used import motors that is not what these people do these people are in old-fashioned machine shop that rebuild your motor theres several engine shop in the area but I think Southwest in my opinion does the best work in the entire inland empire call Kurt he knows what hes doing

I ordered an engine worth $700 for $1290 to install my 1998 Audi A4. I was assured the engine will be in great condition, which was the excuse why it was a week delayed on the delivery. When it finally got to the ship (2 weeks after ordering), the engine was smoking, with a knocking sound, rusted, and way to much oil gunk for a 65k block as advertised. Now the warranty team is dragging their feet to comply with the agreed warranty. While I am renting a car and spending way more than I budget due to SW Engines negligence.

Very good shop .The did a sleave for a engine block for a ford escort for me. Also rebuilt the head. Great work..I put the motor together and have over 10,000 miles since Feb 2016.Also had a mitsubishi head reworked August 2016 that car ran great also.

I needed an engine for my 2002 Explorer Sports Trac and SouthWest Engines delivered. They have great customer service and their web site is easy to use. Activating my warranty was also easy. So far my engines been running great and I am back on the road. Thanks SW Engines, glad I found you.

Horrible customer service...We have ordered from these folks before and had no issue. this time it has taken over 2 weeks to get an engine. Had I ordered it from LKQ it would have been here in 2 days. I do not mind paying for quality but this is ridiculous

Shitty service. We ordered a engine for an 02 jeep wrangler. Then engine didnt ship for over 7 days and when the engine arrived they had shipped me the wrong engine. Even more so, when I called the company and informed them of the mistake the agent was rude. Reminded the agent that the engine was due within 14 business days. The agent started to call me name and yell at me before hanging up. Called back and spoke to a manager and learnt this was a common issue. When I finally did get the engine it was late. The engine was nothing like the picture and needed work before install. Worst company I have ever felt with.

The 6.0 diesel was as described and worked well. The customer service is lacking. I waited almost a week to hear from the procurement team after I ordered the engine which they told me may happen. The engine showed up and it ran well. A week later I called in to find out what I needed to do to return the core. Dale told me he would send in a request to get it picked up. He told me I would get an email confirmation from the shipper. 2 weeks later no email and no pick up. I called and left a message, 1 full working day still no call. I called again and got a hold of Dale, he said the same thing, He would submit a request and I would get an email confirmation. I verified the email address. 2 days and no email confirmation. Please dont charge for a core if you dont want it back!

Finally received my engine today. It was ordered over 20 days ago. But, it looks to have arrived in good shape. Other than the exceptionaly long wait, I paid the extra $75 for residential delivery and the driver refused to drive down my road. The samd road I have had several deliveries made in much larger trucks. R&L carriers provided the worst customer service imaginable. To quote the driver I get paid real good, not to work hard.I believe the product will have a much more positive outcome, however; so far, I am completely underwhelmed by SW Engines...

I had a 94 Toyota Camry Le head to be refurnished and they didnt do really anything. The work thats was supposed to be refurnish is really poor. Then they called me saying 2 valves are bad so I said go head but when I saw it, they basically just looked cleaner and then they mixed up the valves. But the best thing is that they broke my a cam on my camshaft and then they said they didnt break it so I also had to pay for a part I didnt break. Well this is my review on southwest engines. I was very pleased with the customer service and with the motor we bought.It was very easy to order and would recommend to anyone.

Took weeks to ship a engine they said they had in stock. Was shipped with oil in it which is not allowed. Filled out warranty activation online and they sent an email saying they will get back to me to verify it was activated. After many month I am still waiting for a response.The engine has a lifter tap sound. I would not use this company again.

I received a 3.8 Supercharged motor for my 1999 Buick regal..It looked great sitting on the pallet until I they went to put it in the car and discovered the oil pan was crushed, the supercharger had a bad barring in it...I called customer service and was sent another bad supercharger and ended up using the one off my old motor..Not what I paid for..I feel I was overcharged and when it came time for u guys to make things right your people became very rude, kept putting me on hold and never answering me after being on hold at times for over 30 minutes. I believe I should be refunded the $250.00 extra I had to pay in labor cost due to two bad superchargers..The motor cost me over $1300.00 and about the same in labor to install due to bad parts and waiting time to get the second bad supercharger.. I work for a auto repair business in NJ and would of gave you tons of business but not after my experience with your company.. I myself do not In stall motors but our company does at least 5 motor Jobs a month, we get our motors and transmissions from a local yard but were lookin to stop dealing with them because of being dishonest, I was hoping to have more business with your company but since Ive never heard back from anyone requesting a $250.00 refund due to your mistakes to cover the extra labor cost I cant recamend yous to anyone...

I ordered my engine through southwest engines after talking their sale representative and receiving the quote and some warranty information it gave me the confidence to order from them. This was a big mistake. Once the engine was installed and tested it leaked oil. The engine had to remove to repair the oil leak. When I contacted, SWEngines I was told this was not covered in the warranty so I had to foot the bill. When I read the small print of the warranty oil leaks are not covered in fact the bottom line is almost NOTHING ABOUT THE ENGINE IS COVERED BY THE WARRANTY even the mileage they quote you are not guaranteed, this is stated in the Warranty. Never again and will not recommend anyone to order from them.

Order an engine on 12/2 cancelled 15 mins later, because of bad reviews, different change, and BBB complaints.Find all to be when I was still charge and received 70% of credit for an order never filled, shipped or pulled from shelf.I guess I was billed for an order. I will contacting BBB as well as folliwi g proper channels get get my funds back.

SWEngines was the worst choice I made. I had a really bad experience with these guys. First of all they told me I would receive my engine within 10 days, and I did not receive it until a whole month later. They then told me that they checked the engine which was a lie because when the engine was installed it was not working properly. I called multiple times and it was very difficult for me to speak to anyone in customer service. Once I got a hold of someone they were very rude. At first they told me that the engine had 3 years of warranty and when I called they said the engine had no warranty whatsoever. I had to pay an extra $800 for the engine to be fixed after paying $1800 for the engine. I would NEVER recommend anyone to buy from SWEngines.

If i could give negative stars I would, it has been 3 weeks since i ordered the engine & still no tracking info, I received an email this morning saying that it has been delayed, I strongly recommend not buying an engine or anything from them, do your home work. Horrible reviews & multiple reports to the BBB. I took a chance and not even a good feeling to come from this.

Just installed a 3.7L Jeep engine ordered from SW, the plastic valve covers were damaged but I overlooked this knowing I could swap them from the engine I was pulling. During initial start up engine smoked white enough to fill my 4500 sq ft shop so it was impossible to see. Im assuming this was something they put in the cylinders to keep them from rusting during storage. I moved the Jeep outside and eventually it stopped smoking after running it to temp and checking fluids I noticed a substantial oil leak. It is either the oil pan gasket or rear main seal. When I contact SW they stated seals and gaskets are not covered under the warranty. So I guess when the tested this engine and discovered the leaks they sold and shipped it anyway. My advice if you do buy from them do it at your own risk if you do not replace all the gaskets and seals before installation because many are not easy with the engine installed.
