I generally dont like public ranges much...RSOs that are disappointed theres not still a gestapo for them to join is usually the primary issue. For shooters like myself who know what they are doing and just want a great place to pew pew, the bullet hole is a great range. The best part is their private bays. There is a 2 hour limit on them, but its basically like having your own range all to yourself. The wife and I had a great time. Gerard got us signed up and couldnt have been more professional. Well definitely be back!

Prices are good, and the range officers are friendly and attentive. If you don’t have your own hand gun to shoot, you can rent one here. If you’re interested in shooting more exotic weapons to include automatic firearms, they can also be rented here too. I also like to come here for the private bays.

Range is fairly typical, they really need to invest some money into the 50 yard range. Last time I shot there the roof was caving in from age and the walk to hang your target was through a mud hole. Even the string you hang your target from was so old and tired it was on the verge of breaking. Come on guys, spend so 💰 and make this a five star range !

He came and conversated with us. Told us the story of his phone and the ricochet bullet that hit it. Lol saved his leg from serious pain. He also took my safety questions and concerns very seriously. He even called for another guy to help clarify. (Also very nice and friendly). Im recommending this place to all my friends and family. And cant wait to try out the personal bay for 2 hours.!!!!

Need to have a negative rating for this place as it is a considerable safety hazard. Made a trip to rent a private bay. They only have one somewhat suitable bay on the property and it has a standing reservation for police use and is off limits. If you want to rent a private bay you only have spots with no more than 2 sheets of plywood separating you from whatever is next to or behind you. I was told the partitions were filled with dirt but that was after i already made a video knocking on them and examining inside loose panels and holes. They are 100% hollow and 1,000% dangerous!Ref the picture im posting. There is a 50yrd rifle table on the left parallel to / behind a 25yrd bay. At no point does the person occupying the shorter bay not have bullets flying FROM behind them with nothing but plywood and air as a divider. Bullet Hole is a good name for the place thats such a hazard.

This used to be a good range. They’ve made some recent changes that are not customer friendly. I used to reserve private bays during the week - not any more. I used to get on a waiting list if the bays were full during the weekend. Not any more.If I can’t reserve them anymore during the week, that’s fine. I can live with it. But to not have a waiting list anymore makes zero sense. We would put our name on the list, go eat, maybe swing by Academy and come back to shoot. If someone doesn’t show up - give the bay to the next in line. Unfortunately, the customer service has greatly declined. With all the new ranges popping up in SA, you’d think Bullet Hole would do more to keep us coming back.

Do not go to this gun range. Employees are extremely disrespectful. We fell in on the 50 yd range with other patrons in our assigned spot, so we took an open spot and started to shoot. Apparently that is against the rules and we were met with pushback from Paul. When we tried to explain what happened he got irate with us and started yelling. I informed him that when no one was down range I’d safely handle my rifle and move to my assigned spot. Instead, he picked up my rifle and literally threw it across the table to make room for another patron that just showed up. No respect for property and no respect for customers. -10/10

Ive never had a positive experience with public ranges. I dont like to be babysat and be told I am not loading my magazine the proper way, or I am trying my shoes in the wrong place. Or theres always the tacticool douche bag trying to show off. Living in Washington, my husband and I started going to old logging roads to avoid the range nonsense. Dont think theres much of that in San Antonio. The Bullet Hole was a fantastic experience. The private bays were worth the extra few bucks for a little more privacy. You arent elbow to elbow with fellow shooters. Im not sure how many private bays there are, but its probably wise to get there early if you want a bay.Its only $5 for the membership, then $16.95 for the bay. The owners and staff go out of their way to provide excellent customer service with always a safety first range management attitude. You can not beat the cost be it for a single day of shooting or their annual membership program. This is one of the few ranges where most calibers of hand and long guns are allowed with no restriction on the number of weapons used. For a reasonable fee, the Bullet Hole also offers shooters the ability to try out their in house cache of automatic weapons via direct supervision of their Range Safety Officers.I highly recommend visiting the Bullet Hole for a great shooting experience, in a safe, well managed open air range setting.

I agree, its basic and customer service isnt the best...but if you get there, sign up and get to your bay, who even cares? Ive been coming to this range almost every week for about three years now. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and know my face. Its a basic outdoor range, but has everything you need for an unbeatable price. About $11 to shoot all day on both pistol and rifle bays with no limit to the number of guns. $18/person will get you a nice private bay for 2 hours, which is by far the best price for a private bay in San Antonio. Yearly membership are also available and very much worth it for regular shooters. I also really like the hours here, which allow me to shoot after work if I so desire or go really early before the rush on the weekends. You can also see the staff working all the time to make improvements to the range. This is a relative inexpensive facility on the far West Side. If youre bringing your own firearms and ammunition, range time is cheaper than most other places in town. All ranges are outdoors, so be prepared to deal with South Texas elements (mud, dirt, heat) and youll be fine. You can fire your rifle out to 200 yards here, but keep in mind you will have to sign out and in at each of the ranges (pistol. 100y, 200y, etc.) unless you rent a private bay for 2 hours.

BH is the type of range one would expect to find in a rural area . . . a little rustic, a little run down. The office is tiny and they do sell ammo . . .always bring my own though. If it is your first time there you are required to buy a membership card for a one time fee of $5. The 7 yd. pistol range is to the immediate left of the little office.and that is the one I usually use. It is $11 for as long as you care to shoot. They do have some private bays and longer ranges for pistols and rifles. The first target comes with the fee. Subsequent targets are $2 each. The range master was nice enough and they even allow rapid fire shooting. Quite hot even for this time of year - I cannot imagine shooting under the semi-enclosed range when it really gets hot outside!!The weekends can be crowded. Early morning hours (opens at 10 am) during the week ares sparsely attended. Thats the time to go if you are able.

Set me in the right direction. That says it all. The last 20 yrs they have made improvements. Accommodations are a bit meager but functional and the range fees reflect this. I can afford to go regularly and not have to pay per gun. And no where else can you get spacious private bays for the price. I hate even mentioning it so it doesnt get all booked up. Rifle range is as steady as a good deer blind. So that works for me. Lastly its not Academy so dont expect awesome priced ammo. They have a decent assortment for the ill prepared shooter. So there is a mark up on ammo. It comes out less than driving back to Academy having to leave all your weapons in your vehicle in parking lot. Great place to take the family.

We were very disappointed by our experience here. I imagine they might take care of their regulars there, but our experience wasnt pleasant. We found a couple of the employees to be quite rude and condescending to us. While we were new to this range and had various skill levels, we had all been shooting before several times. We were treated like complete idiots, even the one of us that clearly had a lot of gun experience and was the primary gun owner (several guns of various types). We did arrive late in the day, but we were happy to pay for a chance to shoot with what time we had. We were just thankful to be able to find a range open on a Sunday night. First up the employee behind the counter tried to discourage us from shooting because we only had a little over half an hour left. While I feel like there couldve been a friendly way to say that, he made it clear he didnt want us there. 3/5 of us are from out of town, and I felt like that mightve affected the service. When we got our range tags we were told to go past the pistol range to get to the rifle range. It wasnt made clear to any of us that there were multiple rifle ranges or where to go. They came out about ten minutes after we got there and spent another nearly ten minutes telling us we were in the wrong range and place. Fair enough, but again, theres a nice way to handle that and the signs werent very clear (and no one offered to help). Also the employee was condescending to the primary gun owner about how to handle his own guns. I understand that some people need assistance and they would get people of all skill levels, but again, I feel like theres a nice way to ask if we need help rather than trying to take a customers gun to empty the mag for them. When the end of the day came and we were returning the tags back to the front desk, the employee behind the counter antagonized us about being at the wrong rifle range again (we were at 100 m instead of 50 m). The entire experience just felt unwelcoming. As paying customers I wouldve hoped to have friendlier service. Their membership cards even say San Antonios Friendliest Place to Shoot. Not our experience at all.

After my favorite range was closed due to a legal battle I found this one. First off the place needs to be fixed up. Its a small shack in the middle of nowhere. I passed it two times trying to find the place. There was dust all over the very overpriced ammo I got from there. The rifle range is to close together and badly built. Your targets hang off of steel poles. I really didnt like that at all. You have to sit at the rifle range even if you want to stand you cant the overhead is far to low. The rifle range master was very rude and made unnecessary comments about other shooters. The pistol range doesnt have any lanes you just hang up your target and stand behind it. The pistol range master was very helpful and kind. The restroom was dirty and hot. You have to get a id made to shoot there. Overall I wouldnt recommended it. Im just going to find another place to shoot until my normal range opens again.

The biggest turn off was when I asked about military and veteran discounts and was told, “no we don’t do any of that here” in a condescending way. How about, “unfortunately we do not” or something that sounds like you care.Went even further to A Place To Shoot and was treated with respect when asking the same questions on the phone and even better in person.I’ll unfortunately (for them) never know if Bullet Hole is a decent range or not because I won’t be going there ever.

I’ve gone with three different sets of friends on separate occasions and they’ve all said that the people that work here are arrogant and rude(and that is putting it nicely). If more than one person says it, it must be true. The *only* benefit of coming here is to use the private bays so that you can shoot how you want to shoot and to completely avoid the staff except for the front desk. If you don’t have the time to get a private bay which are always full on weekends, I recommended A Place To Shoot. Much friendlier and *helpful* staff, much better upkeep, much better selection of guns, and competitive prices. If you can stomach the wait and the brief interaction with the staff, then only come here for the private bays.

Incredibly rude and unreasonable staff. Ive been multiple times and never had a good experience. I only liked the privacy of the bays but after my last experience I will definitely not come back and I recommend you do the same

We like it there. The only problem is the mud in the bays when it rains. Dont get a bay after a good rain. You will gain a pound of mud on your shoes with every step. Good thing its San Antonio, and we dont run into that a lot.Cotton tail rabbits live there. The live in the drainage culverts between the bays. Probably deaf by now. Came out with no fear when we were shooting. I dont know how to say line is hot in rabbit.

Been shooting here since 06, and walked in with my camerawoman to film some footage for my YT channel. I used to promote their range in my YT videos, but I guess over time, a lot has changed there. I have always gotten a non shooter / observer tag in the past for my camerawoman, and today the office attendant told me that he had been there since 06, they never offered anything like that since then. . . Totally a lie, because I talk to EVERYONE in the office and on the line, and hes fresh. He finally came clean and told me that yes, there was a non shooter pass in the past, but they had to pull them because people were shooting with those passes. I took my money to another range that accommodated my non shooter / observer needs. #1 I dont like to be lied to, #2 he was rude to my wife and I, and #3 I wont shoot there again until things change for the better.

For a visitor from the UK we found our trip to the Bullet Hole to be excellent. Friendly service, a great range of weapons to rent (some nice WWII era automatics) and staff that were knowledgeable and willing to lend a hand if we needed it.The range safety was good and procedures clearly announced and enforced without being pushy. It was a great afternoon out and beat hands down sitting by the Riverside Walk in downtown SA. Thanks guys, well definitely come again next time were in town.

Went once a long time ago but never left a review. If you want to be screamed at and threatened to be kicked out in front of your wife for not having your arms perfectly over the shooting line, go here. Go to Lonestar Handgun instead, better customer experience.

No frills gun range. The workers are very knowledgeable about all things fire arms. They offer conceal carry classes also. Quite reasonably priced.

Oscar in the office was one of the worst human beings I have ever encountered. An all around d***, to put it nicely. I was with my group, we are 4 people with 4 different levels of shooting skills. We were continuously treated with disrespect from the moment we walked in. We were given vague instructions and told to wait until our private bay was ready. When it was time for our SCHEDULED reservation, we went inside and Oscar told us that the people who were currently using the bay weren’t finished yet and that it was our responsibility to know when the people using our bay were done because we would lose our reservation if we were late. We were first time guests looking to buy the annual memberships and Oscar proved to us that this range didn’t deserve our time and definitely not our money. I have NEVER felt the need to write a negative review about an establishment until today. If you’re looking for a quality range experience, this ain’t it.

Was told this place has a good shooting range (true), but the staff is so damn rude and arrogant! That was my first and last time going. You all should work on your customer service skills. A place to shoot definitely treats their customers better.

Excellent staff and facilities. Used private bay and it was great for a small group. Learned from the staff and enjoyed the time greatly. Look forward to coming back to the Bullet Hole.

Its ok. I do like the private bays, just short distance and not very up kept. Bay I got had one set of strings to hang a target. Rifle range is very tight, elbow to elbow seating. No room for gear. No spotting scopes. Definitely wont return for long distance firing.
