Build A Bear is a great place to take your little one for a special occasion. I say special occasion because its pricey!!! That being said, I can certainly appreciate the attraction to children - the child has the opportunity to choose the stuffed animal, watch it being created, pick out a special scent, pick out outfit(s) and creates a birth certificate for the new member of the family!!

I went in as a birthday gift from my husband tonight and came in before they were closing as when I called in was told we’d have time to make our bear and browse as I already kind of knew what I wanted. What should’ve been a fantastic trip ended with me in TEARS! Due to an employee wanting to get us the hell out as fast as possible.I have severe anxiety and depression so going to build a bear is something I hardly do, I got a stitch, didn’t even get to stuff him or see if it’s what I wanted, didn’t get to do anything to make him special for me, got the outfit and didn’t even want to make the purchase because of the rude employee but did because I didn’t want to be yelled at. I didn’t get the experience I got before, I got the treatment of get out and I don’t care from someone working. Spent $60 because I was scared of being yelled at! Worst birthday experience I’ve ever received!

We have been coming to this particular BAB location for years. Maricela took care of us 14yrs ago and continues to serve us every time we come in. She is such a sweet person, we just adore her. Always polite and genuinely kind and loving with each child. My kids still have their original bear and have added to the collection throughout the years. Our baby turned 7 and had to come. Thank you Maricela for always being amazing. The whole staff is just amazing!!!

I really enjoyed every moment I spent thier everyone is very kind and generous. I will continue shopping again, will recommended to everyone, I must claim me and my 18 year old only son cherish our time together, regardless of his age they still treated very well. Brought my daughter to build a bear and they are doing COVID precautions by limiting the number of people in the store. The store is very clean and the staff is moving and helping the people with extreme professionalism.

All the employees were so nice and friendly, they helped me by placing a message of my late Father inside of the Customized Build -A-Bear as a gift to my Mother. I had a pleasant trip to this store and it was also very clean and they also sanitized the counters after every costumer. 11-14-2020

Yesterday was my one year anniversary with my boyfriend. I have wanted to go to Build-a-Bear for a long time, and because it was such a special occasion, he took me to the North Star Mall location. This was truly one of the most MAGICAL experiences of my young adult life. The location was so clean, bright, and the staff were so welcoming. I know it might seem childish but I’ve always wanted to go ever since I was a kid, and the staff made the entire experience so awesome and special, really going the extra mile. It honestly made me kind of emotional because they were so kind. I really hope the staff can get some positive recognition based on this review. The experience really helped me feel some of the wonder and fun of childhood again at a time when I really needed it. I’m super grateful to the staff and to my wonderful boyfriend.

Per Covid they could only allow a set number of people at a time but were able to text me when they were available which was cool because we were able to visit other shops in the meantime

The day I went it was very busy. The line to get your bear stuffed was extremely long. Despite that I had a wonderful time. My husband and I werent sure of the process and one of the workers answered all our questions and walked us through it. We made bears representing each other. We were able to customize it to our liking. We even recorded messages the bear would say. It was wonderful to press on the bear and hear my husbands voice. They had themed bears there. They had many disney princess gowns you could put on your bear. They also had Star Wars bears there as well. Each bear purchased gets a birth certificate to go along with it.

Awesome staff at this location. The lady who helped us today went the extra mile (and then some)

Words cannot express how much it meant to my girlfriend and I on our anniversary to go makes bears together and do the ceremony, it was lovely and admittedly choked me up a little to be able to share a fun and creative experience like that together, I thought it was adorable, the staff is incredible and so spectacularly wonderful, I would highly recommend each and everyone young and old to take a moment and bring home a new friend.

My daughter went for her birthday bear which of course went from being $2 to $35 after all the things we added on. Please remember the bear is the price of their birthday not the things you add on.

Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. My child loved her birthday bear. However, I dont appreciate being reprimanded for the way I have my mask on. I also had to wait out side the store for over 15 minutes. Which is an issue when you have a small child and also had surgery recently.

My friend and I went to pick up a panda that we decorated in a dress and tiara because he was going to use it as his prom-posal. Kimmy helped us out and she was amazing! My daughter loves it here. They have really cute designs for the bears (not limited to bears) and she has fun doing it. I will say though that it is quite expensive. Even when they have sales on the bears themselves, all the clothes and accessories are usually never on sale and they end up costing more then the bear does. So fun to do with the kids, but can get pricey.On really busy days, the store can be really packed with long lines. The store is kind of not setup for huge amounts of people so that can be challenging. Especially when a younger child is tired of waiting, etc.

First time visiting San Antonio and we stopped by North Star Mall, my 1 year old started getting fussy but we saw build a bear and decided to stop by hoping my baby girl would enjoy it, and she did she enjoyed looking at all the plush companions, but out of all of them a small black kitty plush with a pumpkin suit caught her attention, my baby loved it. Staff was great and really enjoyed being in there, it was a great 1st time experience especially for my little girl. Unfortunately an hour later we went to river walk and we looked down from a bridge and my little girl accidentally dropped her kitty in the river. We were quite disappointed since she really loved it while it lasted, but hoping we can return to build a bear soon.

The entire staff was great from start to finish. The woman who helped my daughter and I make the bear was kind and answered all the questions I had before I even asked them. My toddler had a meltdown while waiting in line for checkout and the staff remained friendly and were so understanding.

Went in for the mile stone bear for my son we had 2 months ago and i went in they had the bear but not the clothes. I asked if they had the clothes and they said it was on back order. I know this is not the stores fault i put the blame on the warehouse cause they cant keep it stock. If its an item which sell quickly due to all the babies being born wouldnt you think you would order up on it? Instead i had to pay more for it on line which i really didnt want to but i had too. Hopefully we will receive it soonish than later.

This is an exceptional BaB location. Extremely friendly employees that greet you right away and eagerly help the customers. The store is clean and orderly. Theres a great selection of clothes for the bears. Even if theres a line, which is often since the mall is always busy, the staff keeps the lines running smoothly. I just cant say enough positive things about this location.

Busy location, but the staff is friendly and does an ok job keeping the crowd in line. Bonus tip: theres a line for stuffing, and a second line for paying, plus some kiosks near the back so you can print a birth certificate for your stuffed animal. Go to the certificate kiosk BEFORE you pay, so that the cashier can just hand you the printed certificate after youre done paying. If you wait to do your certificate after you pay, then youll have to stand in line again to pick it up. Cashiers are also trained in upselling, so make sure you have enough money to cover the upgrades if you want them.

Very fun and cute experience, employees are awesome with kids. The flow of the store itself could use a little work since you have to double back a couple of times and cross other for traffic. Still a solid 5 stars though.

The idea of spending an astronomical amount of money on a stuffed animal makes me a little ill, but my 3 and 5 year old really enjoyed the experience. The clothing items and accessories are where they get you. The girls each chose a dress and pair of shoes totalling $20 on top of the price of the bear. Well come back for the birthday bear deal.

Fun to take my child in and just kind of let him loose, with proper manners of course, and let him find stuff he likes. The staff was very friendly and kind, not just to my wife and I, but our child as well. The only reason for leaving 4 stars and not 5 is the cost. A little expensive in my opinion but definately not the workers fault. Staff was great, prices a bit to much though.

Amalia the Manager was amazing. We took 2 bears to be restricted and she even fixed his ear ( that had been torn by our puppy). She also allowed us to purchase a Birthday bear since they were sold out during our last visit in July. We really appreciate her and how great she was to our boys.

Most employees were welcoming and helpful. For better deals I recommend the Build-A-Bear store located at the San Marcos outlets.

Build-A-Bear is amazing! I had my daughters 5th birthday party there yesterday. Everyone was fantastic! My bunch was extremely rowdy but our party host had so much patience with them. (I cant remember her name but she was phenomenal.) The kiddos had a blast! The birthday party prices are extremely reasonable compared to Chuck-E-Cheese or the other places, considering the interactive and very organized experience. And the best part is that the kiddos get to bring home an awesome plushie that they customize on their own!I cant recommend this place enough for birthday parties.

Had fun watching my babies bring their little ones to life. The only building the bear with the kids took their time and made each child feel like they were the only ones in the room. There was no rush and it was enjoyable to see all the smiles

Only one worker stuffing! The line that built up was ridiculous!!! Didnt expect to spend as much time as we did in there. If our daughter wasnt with us, I wouldve walked out like the mom before us! They definitely need more workers!

Great place for the kiddos. Even when its busy, they are quick and efficient and your kids will be so happy with their new best friend. Excellent quality so parents are always happy too.

Yes Im 30 something and it was my first experience at BAB. Went to make my son a Paw Patrol doll and had one or two people greet us but nothing aside from that. It might sound funny but I was expecting the whole experience like advertised. I think we did 3 of the 6 or so steps and that was that. Hey, my son loves his pup so I guess thats what counts!

Everyone was super friendly while we were there. Offered help and did amazing with ringing me up while coping with a 3 yr old who wanted to hold her BAB merchandise. Kudos!

So my dad and 7 year old daughter went in today my daughter had a limit she could spend. She asked a worker to help her find what she could afford and was told to just look at the prices. My dad even asked them to if they could show her what would be available in her price range and still was told that everything had a price tag. This store is supposed to be geared towards kids why wouldnt you help one out. Considering we have about 8 or 9 of these. Im really disappointed and wont be going back. This sucks for my daughter since she loves this place.

Awesome place for kids.

Pretty crowded. But Clean. Took us about 45 minutes to get a bear. The staff was incredibly friendly however. The bears were fully stocked and lots of outfits to choose from. We will probsbly go back for the next birthday.

My two adult kids went to purchase a bear as a present. Hours show they are open. They got to the mall and the store was closed. Very unfortunate they drove 26 miles one way for nothing.

Its amazing all my kids love it and they have always been in love with teddys and baby dolls and these bears feed to theirexperience

Awesome store, be ready to drop about 40 bucks to get a cool bear and clothes. Birthday bears are pay the birthday age plus clothes you spend about 20 on a birthday bear.
