Great selection of Magic the Gathering cards. The people who work there were very helpful and knowledgeable. 10/10
Cliff and Nick are good people, and care for the customers. If you want a great relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel at home you couldnt do better than Gamelot. Even after skipping a few years they remembered my name and greeted me warmly. Would give 6 stars if I could.
The gentleman who owes the store was awesome!! Not only did he not dismiss us for originally only coming in to look at video games. He took the time to educate us on how to play and where to learn to play magic the card game. Just genuinely a nice guy!
Owner was really awesome, I swung by pretty late to grab some n64 controllers at around 9pm which is randomly convenient. Seems like a lot of nerd store miss the fundamentals nowadays, but these guys had pretty much everything from some old Nintendo games, to a good selection of a variety of booster packs. Also spoke to the owner and while it’s been a while since I played magic, he definitely makes me want to get back into it, gave me some promo packs to for online play to get my feet wet again at no additional cost. They’ve definitely earned a portion of my income, and I will be back soon.
Incredible business owned by good, honest people! Highly recommend.
Its obvious that they weigh their pokemon cards. I bought 10 booster packs and all but one had a green code reader. Do not recommend these scammers do yourself a favor stay away from these guys
Great establishment with fair prices.
Rude people, Ive heard the scam and weigh packs. Do not buy from this store. Trash lot is what it should be called. Had horrible experiences with pokemon cards, definitely being weighed its clear as day
A Nintendo, Pokemon TCG, and Dungeons & Dragons fans paradise! A must see for every gamer!
Very frustrated at the fact that Ive gone there TWICE and theyve been closed during open hours.
Great draft night experience.
I absolutely adore this store. The owners are incredibly friendly, and are always willing to help! Ive been playing Magic: The Gathering for about 6 years, and have only recently started visiting this store over the past year. My arsenal has exploded ten-fold thanks to Gamelot! The only reason I delivered 4/5 stars is because of the strange and pungent smell that seems to linger throughout the store. Ive noticed this smell only exists when there are groups of players enjoying sessions of EDH in the back of the store. I just really wish a candle or incense would be burning to eliminate or at least reduce the icky scent.
Management is amazing and the staff are wonderful really fun place been there s few times for singles
Cliff was really informative and helped my son get hooked up with tutorials for his gaming interests. Thanks 👍
A nice place to play MTG, as the community is very welcoming to newer players. The prices on singles are slightly above market price, but arent too outrageous, and they are well worth it for the quality. Anyone new to thew game would be happy to learn that they can pick up starter decks here, made by the owners to help new players understand the mechanics of the game. All in all an amazing game store that is ready to welcome any and all newcomers
Great place love this shop always a pleasant experience cliff the owner is very helpful i highly recommended this shop to anyone
Update: I love this place 🤑
Family owned and I must say they are the nicest people ever! My boyfriend is very good friends with the owners and we often come in to look around for cards, strike up a convo or even to play at some of their competitive events!
They make you feel welcome and really do seem to people who love the things they sell not just some random business owners.
The owner is a great, thank you! I came in today looking for some PS2 peripherals and a few games my nephew had asked for his birthday. I knew they would have a controller but was fortunate to also find they had a multi tap. Cant recommend Gamelot enough if youre looking for some older gen systems and games.
We recently did a pioneer event there and my wife and I loved it! If we could come every day, we would! Great atmosphere and great people. Wish we came sooner!
Update: We have now been coming here a month. We seriously can not show enough gratitude for Cliff and Nick and all the regulars. When I first started magic I spent the first two months getting pummeled by my friends, like turn three KO. Cliff and nick have both sat down and helped me and my wife build decks. They helped me build my first comander and helped us build our decks better. Building decks has been therapeutic for me it give my mind some thing to focus on other than my axiety and stress. I highly recommend it as coping tool 😂. Being new alot of places are not patient. Here people are kind and take time to teach you and help you understand from playing a card the wrong way to organizing lands better so you dont miss count they take time to teach you and help you. They also have a wide variety of cards you just have to sit down and put work into looking at the boxes which honestly I find to be fun. Looking at the old cards seeing their mechanics always gives me ideas for new decks to build. Which is a plus because building the decks is just as fun as playing to me. We cant thank Cliff, Nick, or the regulars enough for making magic a big tremendously fun part of our life!My wife and I stopped in here because I needed a card for a cycling deck I was building. My cousin told me to stop in. They did not disappoint! Cliff is a hoot an a half he had us rolling with laughter and and provided us with world class customer service! My wife and I are relatively new to magic cliff helped us with understanding mechanics to some cards we where still learning about! His pre-built decks are fun to play for $5 you get a fun little deck. The mystery boxes are neat too. We ended up going back and getting 6 more for our friends. Cliff told us to put a 30 minute timer on, give every one a box and have them build a deck from it, then play. We had a blast! This was my first time buying magic cards here, in the past Ive gone in for old console games, but man wow cliff has customers for life now! Hands down an amazing place! We recommend it!
Absolutely the worst!!!
For the little time I was in this shop i had a great time the owner was very nice and helpful. This is the best shop in San Antonio. I am definitely come back here when Im in town.
Love gamelot very friend card shopping catering mostly to magic the gathering. Very welcoming atmosphere. One of the few stores that gives back to the community
Super friendly store with a very knowledgeable family who is readily available to assist or to provide consul to new comers to the game. I highly recommend this store to anyone who is trying to get into this hobby.
Owner is fantastic. Store is clean and organized. Ill definitely be going here from now on.
Really nice people, great custome service!
If youre looking for Magic the Gathering, this is the place. Amazing selection of loose cards, storage boxes, etc. Pretty much exclusively MTG though.
Goodmorning! I love how the owner says goodmorning all day and its hilarious! I went there with my brother and they treated us respectfully. Also, since we went in the afternoon and it was HOT outside they gave us a free drink. Overall, great prices for magic the gathering cards. They also let you sit down and go through their stack of boxes filled with mtg cards to find what you need.
Great place and nice people. The humor isn’t what I expected, but I got used to it quickly and enjoy the banter. The owner Cliff is a great guy and very helpful to new players, he does not seem like he is just trying to sell you cards.
I meet here almost once a week to play Magic the Gathering with my play group. Gamelot has been my LGS (local game store) for 5 or more years. There are tournaments and events here often, as well as casual Commander games, D&D groups, a LAN center, and used video games. The owner, Cliff, is particularly great with getting new players started. I very much recommend Gamelot for people new to the game, returning, or wanting to get their friends involved.
Great place to hang out, talk shop, and learn alot about Magic The Gathering, and the theory of building decks. Cliff is always eager to share his knowledge. Friday Night Magic is where its at, yall.
Great place to get all your nerd supplies
The owner Clif is very friendly, my favorite card shop in San Antonio
Great shop with fun events for everyone. Owner is always friendly and very helpful! Prices are fair and very reasonable.
Very RUDE over the phone!!! I called just trying to get a ball park price for a console that is in great condition. Did not appreciate the attitude when told they do not give quotes over the phone. I get it... but you didn’t have to be a jackass. If I say my console is working, it’s working. Will definitely be taking it els where.
The owner and his son are polite people. Always ready to help when needed. They have a great selection of cards.
This place and its employees are dated and obviously only interested in self maintaining. They wouldnt know customer service if it smiled and greeted them. Im sure its a really cool hangout for the owner and his friends, but as far as its credibility as a gaming store goes, its virtually, and literally, nonexistent. The 5 star reviews below are obviously planted to boost the ratings.
Ive been going to Cliffs Gamelot for 10 years, and I have always felt welcomed. The store owner can be a bit blunt, be thats just his type of humor. He has always been a kind gentlemen, always willing to go above and beyond to help new players or curious people to discover new and interesting hobbies. From Magic the Gathering, to Super Nintendo, to Risk and More, his store has quite a bit to offer to any type of gamer.
Fun times
Great store! Check out for games! Friendly staff!
I love coming here. Every visit Im treated very well, and I always leave learning something new. I will always shop here.
No other card shop Ive been to other than Gamelot lets you go through the inventory and build decks. The environment is fun and comfortable and the sheer amount of cards to look through is awesome. Love this place.
Went to check out games! Nice place friendly staff!
Owner was very helpful and friendly. He provided prompt service and helped me find what I was looking for. Will likely return to this store in the future.
My husband stopped by this place while I was shopping at hobby lobby next door. They owner cliff was really friendly! He really takes time to make sure youre buying what you really need and not just trying to make sales. My husband loves going there, and then when I decided to start playing he was really helpful! Very patient as you would have to be to teach me LOL I love going here and I recommend it to anyone interested in learning to play mtg or anyone already familiar with it.
A very fun and friendly place that offers great deals on singles for magic the Gathering $.05 a common and $.25 a uncommon. They handle themselves very professionally and beat out heroes and fantasys atmosphere despite having a smaller shop.
Gamelot is a great place to play Magic and pick up some classic games! The owner helped me and my friends, who have just started learn how to play and build decks. The staff is super nice and their prices are very fair. We, all of us, have had an awesome experience with Gamelot and you can find us all there every week.
If you are close friends with the owner its a great place. If not any other game store is better. Staff will assume you know everything even when its apparent youre new to the game, the owner gives you attitude while youre making purchases, and 8.5/10 experiences Ive had there they cut me off when I try to make friendly conversation. If you dont have other options it is an okay place to get your products, but I seriously recommend using Gamelot as a last resort. There are better stores that deserve support way more.
Camelot will always be my favorite place to play MTG. The community that attends every week is a great group to play with, and the store is set up nicely. Plus, as others have stated, anyone there is willing to help teach you the game if you have the time to learn and need only ask! To address the other reviews about the poor customer service, you have to get to know the owner. Clifs business is small and he prefers to run the place himself. Hes a person just like everyone else and he has the added responsibility of discerning who would and wouldnt rip himself and others off. He is blunt ...but hes the owner. He doesnt have to put up with any crap from anyone. He is normally patient and very understanding (especially if youre nice to him). And you usually get a free soft drink for your first purchase/tournament. I hope this helps!
The game owner Cliff was quite rude to some customers, he made uncalled for comments which would have been taken as sexist to some. Over all the physical appearance of the store is good, and they have an ok selection. My problem however, is with the owners. This is because they were rude to some customers that I knew (swearing, overall rude language, and the forceful taking of cards from him.). Because of this I am now willing to drive across San Antonio to go to another game store rather than visit this one in walking distance. I would not recommend visiting this store.
Great place to play Magic and find some retro games, consoles and accessories.
It is a great place to have fun, but only if you are friends with the owner he will make you feel unwelcome whenever he sees a good chance. Would go to other stores if you can help it if not its ok i guess(EDIT): I have noticed you also ask people to elaborate on their reviews, you do know we cannot respond to them, correct clifford?
I went in wondering if this was the same wonderful store I went to over 10 years ago previously located across the street and to my enjoyment it is! The owner is very knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. I felt very comfortable in his store and look forward to returning w my son. This was actually the very first game store I had found close to home when my son started collecting cards and playing games before Gamestop started popping up everywhere. We had moved out of town for the past few years and A lot has changed in the area but what a great nostalgic moment I had today and cant wait to return. Thanks for sticking around! Sincerely a loyal returning customer.
The best store of mtg at least in the entire state, te kindest people and store personal, also very nice and useful merchandise, if you are searching stuff for mtg, you have to make sure to visit this place!!!!
Stopped in to look at some cards and the owner Cliff not only helped find cards for my deck but actually let me use a deck of his own to play a couple of games with a regular (Joseph). I am new to MTG and both helped me really get hooked. I will definitely be back and must say customer service is the biggest reason for it.
The place was pretty dirty and i asked if he had a card and said If i do it will be over there. Do you not know your inventory that is simply disgraceful to long time avid magic players, and i have read other reviews and they very mixed, some are overwhelmingly positive, while others are true horror stories! Also, you do know people cannot respond to you on their reviews, only make edits, right clifford?
Table top game shop. Great place for dBm and much more!
We will never forget cards and crafts, but Cliff did an excellent job adopting my Magic friend group, weve enjoyed his company and his company for almost 10 years now. Hes always excited to give advice (blue is evil) and is always a gracious host. And of course he has the best cards in town
I always love going into the store, they have always been welcoming and willing to help people out
Great store, great selection. I loved the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this store. I was just in town for the weekend, and felt very comfortable right away.
Great place to learn, play, and collect Magic: the gathering and make new friends. Staff is amazing and very funny
A fun place to play and hang out. My Middle and Elementary school daughters love going.
Even though I know about this store, i will try to look at it from an unbiased standpoint. Now from reading other reviews (good and bad), i have noticed a repeating trend among some of them. They all either speak of how friendly the owners are or the opposite. Now looking i believe that the people who have reviewed lower may have some grounds. First, if you look at the reviews with only a rating and no actual review, the owner seems to get quite agitated as he does not let them be. Instead he comments on them not saying anything, which shows how much it aggravates him. He cannot take criticism as im sure he will do on my review as well. Now, if we take a look at other low reviews i have noticed that a few state he has stolen cards. Now while not taking sides another common trend is when he responds to these he cannot show any valid proof that he was stolen from and that he confiscates his cards form people. I recommend not only getting cameras but also categorizing your cards as i have heard that your store seems extremely disorganized. However, if we look at the positive reviews we can notice that most of them are simply nice. So, i will say that environment there can be healthy and fun. When i have been there, it felt extremely disorganized if i asked for a specific card that was not on the board, he simply told me If we have it, it will be over here or over there and etc. This shows he not only does not know if he owns the card, but if he does he cannot tell me specifically where it is located. That is extremely unprofessional. So if he wants a better review i hope he takes this review to heart. 2/5. Go ahead respond angrily, my name is Kaleb Schimschek. You remember correct, after all i have a great memory for names and faces, and i remember telling you my name.
I pulled a masterpiece from the free aether revolt booster you gave me for spending $25 at the singles cabinet 😉👌 Im glad I found youre still kicking, thought youd closed shop years ago when you left the old location. Highly recommended.
The owner is such a great guy and friendly! Best place to come if you’re looking for games and systems!
My friends and I decided to go there after canes to see what they had, the employees were nothing other than awesome, we were new to mtg and they were more than happy to help us with anything we needed 99/10 would recommend to anyone, great place to chill too
I have to say this is the best game store in all of San Antonio went to sell some old games ask for 50 he gave me 85 Fair honest nice people
Great gamestore. I enjoy comming to this place. Great staff and owner.
Very friendly place and a one stop shop for all card and table top gaming needs
MTG booster boxes sold here, nice haul
Lobe this place wish i got paid more to go here way more the owner cliff is awesome always makes you feel welcome
Meh not the best retro game/card/game store but its convenient
Owner was rude, made distasteful comments, insulted, and stole from customers. I would not recommend anyone to ever visit this store, it is a toxic environment. There are plenty of good stores here in San Antonio this is not one.
Great for trading cards, learning to play, making friends, and enjoying your company. Owner is very friendly, and regularly interacts with customers. Great place.
Huge sign outside makes it seem like the store is full of video games. Hardly any sold here. Mostly magic cards. Walked in and the employees just looked at me. Smells weird in there as well. Not a store I would visit again.
Cool place for card gamers and vintage console games N64 NES Sega Genesys
A fun place to hang out with friends, whether it be with Magic, on the computer, or d&d theres something for everyone
Great store, great selection, great atmosphere, and a great owner. 10/10 would recommend to all Magic players
Sold me a banned card. Didnt know it was banned till I got home and my friend told me. They should have at least told me before I bought it.Went in and changed my rating from 3 to 1. Since the owner decided to show his true colors and act entirely unprofessional. If you didnt know just say that you dont. There was no need to try to belittle me and assume I am not an experienced player. Last time Ill be coming here.
Really loved the experience 10/10 would do again!
I went in to this place knowing nothing about MTG. Everyone there was super friendly and helped me build a deck on my own.
A great place to get cards if youre looking for them
The owners and the community here is great
Fantastic staff, cliff was amazing and helped us relearn magic, and even helped build decks!
I play Riddle School Game on riddleschoolgamecom, can I find other tracks of the game? thank you
Great place with super friendly staff.
Great customer service especially for new mtg players
Nice starting decks and great customer service!
Offer options not available at other gaming stores
Great prices and awesome customer service
I was in the shop last friday with my wife (who is an avid magic player) and this obese man and his more obese son greeted me. As is natural, i greeted them back and so did my wife. They asked our names, and i told them, My name is Mwah, and this is my wife Shaniise. The man (who i assumed was the owner) stared for a second and then went on to ask if i was in the wrong neighborhood. I took extreme offense but pretended to laugh it off as i was sure he meant no harm. HOWEVER, he then went on to stare at my wife for an uncomfortable amount of time. We then went on to look at his card selection (which was slightly over mediocre, nothing in comparison to gamerz-pair-a-dice) and when i asked whether everything on the board was all he had, he stared at my for a second with a bad look and the said Ohhhhh, because what i do for this community isnt enough eh? Well you know what? If it isnt enough then LEAVE and take your wife, who i doubt wants to be here anyways! He looked as though he was about to pull a knife on me. So i did just that, i left. I would never, EVER, return to that racist scumbag that is an excuse of an owner.
Cliff was friendly and the staff is very helpful, best place to go for many different types of games. I go there for magic and league, only had great experiences
Great place to hang out and play PC and MTG.
One of the team members behind the counter (the white haired man) nearly lost my purchase. From assuming my wife doesnt play the game to asking me why? (in a very rude tone) to my statement that we ordered a certain pre-release pack, to not answering almost any of my questions without first giving me rude rebuttles, i nearly walked out empty handed. Its a shame, because the store is very easy on the eyes and offers a nice selction of goods for all players. Only giving it 2 stars because the selection itself saved it from a 1 star review.
This is such a friendly and ejoyable place that I find myself staying hours at a time in. It is one of my favorite places to hang with friends and get to know different people that as well play Magic thw gathering. The staff is composed of a family. The owner cliff is such a nice and amazing person. He will always help you with any magic the gathering needs. Even if you are new to the game. They will personally sit down with you and teach you how to play, just because they want you to feel at home and welcomed. They have a huge assortment of cards and magic needs. Varying from extreamly valuable collectables. To the basic cards needed to play the game. 10/10 would come back again.
The owner was supper friendly, helped with what was needed, smart but in a good casual way, will revisit
