I have to say the Rose the owner is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. She tries her hardest to meet the needs of her customers and her staff has always shown to go the extra mile for me and appears others. Her store is very well kept and they handle the books with care.As a collector for many years handling of the books has always been my benchmark between a good bookstore and an a great one. Roses store surpasses a great one. Pay a visit you won’t be sorry

Was very disappointed when they pulled back covers from my subscription when I ask before hand if it would be a problem that I choose from all the covers and the manager said it was ok that it wouldn’t be a problem. Today I was told that I was no able to do so and I missed 2 covers I really wanted. I canceled all my subscriptions there took my money elsewhere. Lost a customer. I suggest next time be clear with the buyer.Re:Please cancel my subscriptions. I asked for that yesterday.I spoke to the manager about the pulls for my subscriptions and she said it wouldnt of been a problem if I was able to choose from the bunch. I read what it said thats why I asked twice if it was ok. I got the ok and yet they stopped pulling covers. You should of said something earlier about it or call me about it email something saying you would stop pulling all covers that way I would of said something about pulling certain covers for me.I already went to alienworlds theyre way better at communicating with their customers.

I live in South Austin & saw Dragons Lair Alamo was hosting a Power Rangers meet & greet. I went to the event and Im glad I did. I got to experience the great customer service this location has. I will definitely stop in to say hi everytime I visit San Antonio.This location went above and beyond & made sure you felt safe for the event during this pandemic. Even during a busy time they make sure you are taken care of with whatever you may need. The staff was friendly and the manager was Amazing. Great place for dnd stuff and even other things, we mainly went for dice but many other things caught our eyes too, like the game lobbies, various Manga, an inhuman amount if printable figures AND paint to go with it. The picture is of merlin the cat that resides there, really great place

This place is a great way to stretch your budget if you have small kids. They offer a calendar with all the upcoming events. Coloring competitions and superhero visit made for hours of great fun. Not as much space for sitting and playing but thats ok, its made up by the great selection of comics, beautiful dice and board game options, nice staff, a rewards program. It has AC and San Antonio is hot so thats cool too.

Pokémon collectors!!!!! This is your shop! Went there today and this is the first store I have seen take a proactive approach to scalpers and the issues everyone is having. Today was quoted one price for sealed and another if I cracked the cellophane. I am a sealed collector and set collector. I had absolutely no problem w this and thought it was great! Was nice to finally be able to purchase product. Price was a little over MSRP but it wasn’t gouged and below online prices. Please give them your business, penny sleeves, binders, deck sleeves, and sealed product. Let’s stop buying from Amazon and support this LCS!!!!!!!!

I wanted to return to d&d. They host here. Advertised on meet up for returning/ beginner players. The dates and times were off. But, just ask and theyll set you straight. Hooked me up with a dungeon master who works with newbs. That was John Paul. He is excellent. Patient for us who needed and still got us going on a campaign. I returned the following weekend. Picked right up and took. It was even better than the second time.I give full credit to dragons Lair for doing this. In todays covid environment they assist in maintaining a clean sanitized environment so that various tables to rpg games can happen. I travel and this commitment isnt happening anywhere else. Places that I have seen just are limited in space and materials and just arent a friendly environment. I believe Dragons Lair has done everything possible to not only create an environment to bring people together to share in community gaming, in a controlled, clean and safe environment. Im 53. And Was able to join brand new people still in their teens and twenties. Everyone had a great time.If you are on the fence about roll playing gaming. This is a fantastic way to experience it. They offer various games. I didnt try those yet, so I cant comment on that. The site itself is loaded with comics, games, dice, peripheals, books. Almost everything an rpger would want. Its pretty, clean, staff is awesome. I drive 35 minutes to go here. Its a great store. And glad I found it

This nerd store has won me over and made me a regular. The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is comfortable. They have taken the time to get to know me and they make sure to take care of me as a customer. DL has taken some great precautions to reduce the risk of COVID19 by providing plexiglass dividers, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, and face mask requirements. If you dont look well, youre getting a thermo to the head and a get well soon.Rose also has a Facebook group that she publishes events to. She knows I dont use social media and makes sure to give me a heads up about upcoming releases for Magic the Gathering (MTG) and events. I look forward to MTG commander night.

Love this place. They have loads of games to choose from. These games are not your traditional games. They have their games color coded for party games, roll and go, combat, mystery, co-operative, deck building, resource management, and worker placement. Each category has an explanation posted in each aisle if you are unsure of what type of game you picked. The staff was friendly and informative. Lots of collectibles and Small collection of comics. They have an awesome section where you can try out games before you buy. I would most certainly recommend and will go back!

When I first moved here a year ago I really liked this store because I thought their selection of tabletop games in stock was great. A year later the inventory seems rather stagnant and they dont seem to stock the games that are popular currently (I go in roughly once every other week t ok check). The staff is great and friendly and I know that they will order a game for me if they dont have it but Im usually looking to buy a game in store to support the local store first but if I dont find it I then resort to online retailers who generally have it cheaper and can get it to me faster. I am very appreciative of the military discount that this store offers.

Incredible staff that helps you even with the most complex inquiries. This and every other Dragons Lair in San Antonio is a gem amongst comic book/hobby stores. I highly recommend giving any location a visit. Their vast variety of products ranging from all the newer MTG sets to DnD miniatures and books is worth the look. Even If theres not a product in stock theyll special order it for you. Ill definitely be coming back over and over again as this business not only takes a place in my mind but also in my heart.

Dragons Lair carries some of everything, from comics lining the walls to shelves of board games. Soft, lovable Squishables vie for attention with DIY miniatures to be painted (paints and brushes available to choose from). There are prepainted miniatures, dice, blind boxes, keychains, card sheathes, card pages, deck boxes. Not to mention places to play varying games and a few shelves of board games to try out before you buy. Top it all off with cold drinks and some snacks and some very well informed staff, I love to spend time at Dragons Lair.

I went to the Learn to Play D&D event and it was fun! I had always wanted to learn and now I feel like I know enough to get me started.The only problem I have is that someone at our table wasnt bathing properly/ wearing deodorant. Im not the type to call anyone out for that, but when Ive signed up for a 5 hour event and I have to sit next to someone who very noticeably smells, it takes away from the experience. Its rude on their part and Im not sure if there are store rules regarding hygiene, but maybe there should be.

I visited this business for the first time ever and was so impressed with their merchandise. They even have an area where you can play games with others. I have been a fan of comic books since the 60s so this is the place to find all of the greats I found out from an employee that collector posters are displayed such as Avengers, Fantastic Four and other villains and heroes. Once the advertising period is over these posters are free for persons claiming them beforehand. Collector cards can be acquired at games for $12 entry fee. Entrants can leave with a full deck of hand picked cards. Pick a card and pass the box around. Thats pretty good. Go expand your imagination and meet others who are game savvy. Love it.

I have super nerdy kids and they love this place. They hold regular events that are cool and fun bringing people in the community together to do what they love most.

Dragons Lair has soft opened prior to the Grand opening in January. Although their stock is still coming in, they have lots on the shelves! Gaming tables are up and running as well as Friday night Magic. The new staff know what theyre talking about, friendly, and super eager to help. If you like games, comics, and fun things stop by and see them! You wont be disappointed!!

*** buyers beware*** also long review***Picked multiple items from this location around noon include a couple of board games. Was excited to go play. I even set up an account to keep track of future purchases. Got to my friends home and pulled the game to play with his son. We set the game up (which I learned later was a BIG mistake) we attempted to play the game and for his son was to complicated so naturally i knew my younger cousins(in the age group) would not be able to play(my reason for purchasing the game in the first place) so same day less than 3 hours later we returned to the location in hopes of exchanging the game not return but to exchange for a game thats less complicated and easier to play. But to my surprise I was informed that when I opened the game I was not able to return the game. I was not even allowed store credit for an exchange that I would of happily paid the restocking fee and the difference for a game we could actually play. I was unaware of the return policy as upon purchase no one informed me. It was printed on the receipt which since I made an account I elected to not have a printout receipt as I didnt see a problem(since my purchases would be attached to my account). So you can only return the game if its unopened and for the cardboard games the peices not popped out or the cards not in the packaging. In other words **DO NOT PLAY THE GAME UNLESS YOUR READY TO KEEP IT**. I would think if you pay for something you didnt like then it shouldnt be a problem returning the same day you purchased the item once you attempted to play and find out it doesnt work for you or the people you purchased for (how else are you going to find out unless you attempt to play it). So now Im sitting at home with a $60 paperweight that I doubt will ever see the light of day.

Im so happy to have a Dragons Lair close to home. This is such a chill shop, a really laid back atmosphere to shop or hang out. There is a decent sized area for gaming, bathrooms, and water fountains. There are two large bookshelves housing an eclectic demo selection which seems to always be fresh. Every time Ive been in there have been several new games available to demo. The for sale stock also always seems to be fresh with displays set up for whats hot right now. The prices are fair, usually MSRP or slightly better. The staff is awesome and clearly passionate hobbyists themselves.

Ok so I didnt even know this place existed before I went to get my Thai food fix. I walked in and was instantly satisfied. Not only is there an assortment of various table top, board, D&D, card games there are also loads of comics and minis. There is a nice play area in the back of the store too. The staff is helpful and will do everything they can to help find what you need, even ordering it for you if not in stock. Please drop by Dragons Lair and check them out.

I love Dragons Lair at Alamo Ranch! People are always friendly, the store is clean, and no one is treated like an outsider or not included. Its a great place to game, or pick up your comic subscriptions. Prices are fair and do not feel overinflated. 10/10, would recommend anytime.

This store was very clean. The staff was super helpful. There were a variety of products. The one in Austin is a little better but overall it is a nice place to pick up a good game or play a quick card game.
